Saints Row 4, just got to the part with SR3 Shaundi and Fun Shaundi (no, I want to hear what I have to say to myself! - HAH!). One of the many reasons I love this game is during the fight with Veteran Child, Kendzie makes a comment that it should be Veteran "Childs" instead of "children" and the devs change the text mid-mission to reflect this. So many jokes like this leave a goofy grin on my face every time.
@Anke - nice - how does it handle? Looking forward to Tuesday morning!
@get2sammyb - I am with you! I loved SR4 and GoH, so this seems like more of the same, minus the aliens of course, and I am completely good with it. This game was my pre-order gift to myself earlier this year, so I am extra hyped now!
I think it was a bout $20 too much at launch, but I don't regret my pre-order. Just platinumed it a few weeks ago, will be glad to jump back in at the end of the summer.
Picked up Elite Dangerous for $1.44 after credits, and it's interesting. Also loaded up ST:Online for the first time in forever, decided to try the Klingon story, and fun so far! So, probably a bit between those two.
Can't comment on any resolution updates (running a 1080p display) but the 60FPS movement is pretty great in the few minutes I played around with it. Fast loading is cutting off the Ubisoft signature at the beginning though, so I'd expect at least one more patch to address that.
I'm feeling a bit conflicted about this. The gameplay looks pretty ok. but not very different from Arkham Origins, which I also found to be pretty ok. Not outstanding, but...ok. I am interested in multiple playthroughs with different characters, but they need to clean up some of the things already mentioned above. They also need to liven up the city a little; it looks nearly as empty as AO did - hopefully now that the last gen version is dropped, they can add some more atmosphere.
Let's call it cautiously optimistic. But at the moment, Hogwarts is winning my "which one to get first" race.
Nice to see! I spent a few days working out how to make a "circuit" to do a 24 hr clock, so at the very least, I'm looking forward to tinkering with the innards of the date/time gadget.
I'd love to do more; my biggest issue is art assets; I'm pretty awful in 3D spaces (thanks Autodesk!), so creating art and lining it up while moving around the viewport without certain key shortcuts that would make this somewhat bearable is a bit of an issue with me. But, happy to see MM continuing to support this.
SR4/GoH is one of my "permanent install" games, and this game is my one pre-order for this year (Ultimate; got some PS cash cards for the holidays, huzzah!), so I am excited to see what they come up with.
Interesting. Flowmotion, shotlocks, and form changes all make a return. Makes sense that they'd import most of the tech/gameplay from KH3/UE4. Curious about Donald and Goofy running into (apparently) Hades. No Xiggy details yet. Although I anticipate an overly complicated Nomura script, I remain optimistic about it all.
Started a NG+ of Zestiria last night. It's my first Tales Of game, so I likely hold it higher regard than most. I really enjoy the way the writers and VA's portrayed the relationship between Sorey and Mikleo (Meebo, HAH!), and kind of love how they both geek out at finding some new discovery or ruin.
Thanks for the review and insights. I'm probably going to wait a bit on this one, as I liked, but didn't love, the first one. One thing I DID love was the audio logs about the punk band that was developing over the course of the story in the past, and was one of my favorite parts because it was so different. It was nice to hear of how these people were coping with the situation while not being so "it's the end of the world" about it.
100 hours in Origins, 200+ in Odyssey, but haven't finished Valhalla yet because I'm not a fan of the new "stealth" mechanic. Glad for fans of the older style games, and I appreciate you all putting up with the open world ones that I love. I'll dive back into Origins again when we get the 60fps update.
Owned UC4 as a PS4 pack in, got LL for $10 at GS. So the upgrade was a no brainer for me. Spent about an hour trying to get through the graveyard on Crushing (eventually did, huzzah!), which is where I left off last year, super smooth and looks fantastic.
Totally understand that, but funny enough, it was the opposite. I LOVED the main story and characters, while the DLC fell flat with me. Also like you, glad I'm doing Origins now before I dive into Valhalla so I have the complete story. Good times!
Bouncing between AC: Origins and FF X. I got FF X for X-2, but decided to try playing through X despite not really liking the longplay vids I had seen. I'm finding it better than I thought I would. Tidus is still a big twit, but his internal dialog is making him more palatable.
@Korgon - More than halfway done with Origins and I like it a lot, but Odyssey is still my favorite - likely because I played it first and have over 200 hours across three playthroughs into it. I grabbed Valhalla pretty cheap for the holidays, so even though I'm not really interested in Viking lore and such, I'm kind of looking forward to checking it out, and hoping it doesn't turn out like AC: Revelations, which I really couldn't get into and never finished, despite loving the first two Ezio games.
On Chapter 14 of Yakuza: LAD, fun game! Want to get back to AC Origins next. Tales of Arise and AC: Valhalla still new in the boxes, something dig into over the next few weeks. And the Yuffie DLC at some point.
Will grab the Uncharted upgrade, will probably wait on Horizon. Looking forward to Sifu though, and the rest of my gifted PS cash card will go towards Saint's Row in June. Happy New Year to all!
I think the tech is great, and looks like it could be a lot of fun, but my PSVR sits in a box because 1) I can't play for more than 15-20 minutes at a time from the motion sickness and 2) I really, really, REALLY have a hard time playing 1st person games. Doing a few 3rd person games in cinema mode made it more tolerable, but I've determined that 1st person type games are just not for me. I hope everyone else gets a ton of enjoyment and use out of it, and I think the tech behind it all is really neat.
Just nabbed Yakuza:LAD for $15 and Tales of Arise for $35 at GameStop. Head to a physical store if you can, earlier their website showed out of stock on EVERYTHING. Not a giant surprise.
Will prolly nab the FF7 DLC, but everything else is kind of meh on this sale.

Re: Upcoming PS5, PS4 Games for August and September 2022
Three weeks 'till Saints!
Kind of feeling the urge to run through SR4 again. The problem is, if I do, I'll be compelled/obsessed with getting all 1400 something clusters again.
Re: PS Plus Essential Monthly Games for August 2022 Are Available Now on PS5, PS4
Already own THPS and Y7, but glad I held off on the THPS upgrade, thanks Essential.

Re: Free Wrestling Royale Rumbleverse Grapples with PS5, PS4 from 11th August
I am generally awful at shooters, so I'm already interested. The wrestling part is the cherry on top, looking forward to checking this one out!
I hope there is a variety of styles, like Lucha/High Flyers, Technicians, Power brawlers, etc.

Re: Assassin's Creed Origins 60FPS PS5 Patch Arrives 2nd June
Nice, I am in! Was going to do a rerun of Odyssey while waiting for next week, but I think I'll do Origins again first in a couple of days.

Re: Gotham Knights News Planned for Tomorrow, Gameplay Likely
@Dodoo - WB Montreal, I think. They did the PS3 Arkham Origins.
Really looking forward to this and Hogwarts this year, hope there is a little calendar space between the two.

Kudos to Sammy for the subheading of "Red head redemption." That was worth a good little Friday guffaw.
