Re: Pachter: Sony Would Probably Like to Get Call of Duty DLC Exclusivity

eLarkos

COD is still going strong and despite its recent calming period its going to be strong for quite a few more years. I hate its regurgitated nature but its still a great FPS. I believe if Sony could secure a COD deal this gen it would be a MASSIVE blow to MS. I would imagine MS won't let this happen, especially since Titanfall wasn't quite the boom they expected.

Re: Rumour: DriveClub May Be Parking on the PlayStation 4 on 12th June

eLarkos

The fact that it was supposed to be released in october and is yet to get a release date shows that internally things are not going to schedule. The fact that they don't give the public a weekly "delayed" update doesn't render the sentence "seemingly never-ending delays" incorrect. In fact I think it accurately paints a picture of its situation.

@SimonAdebisi ??

@get2sammyb if this is a massive step forward then what do you consider the Infamous step? Gargantuan?? Haha

I just watched the video again and the differences are so indistinguishable at some points that I found myself checking to make sure I was looking at the ps4 side and vice versa. Im thinking if I played the game I would see much larger differences

Re: Yes, The Last of Us Is Set to Stumble onto PS4 This Year

@BornOfEvil Mario repetitive? Come on man. Game a little. Every Mario game has exquisite level design from start to finish. In fact a single Mario level is happy to introduce a new game mechanic only to turn around and leave it at the end. Many games base their entire gameplay on a single game mechanic, not just a single level! Mario doesn't have to be your cup of tea but respect where respect is due.

OT: These re releases suit me just fine. Iv been missing a ps3 for quite some time so to experience them on ps4 will be great. Hope they dont become the focus for the new console heading into 2015 but otherwise there is no problem.

Re: What Does Facebook's Oculus Rift Acquisition Mean for PS4's Virtual Reality Headset?

eLarkos

After reading a bit about this im really starting to think it was a genuine deal. Oculus have said for a long time that the OR is not necessarily a gaming device. They have initially targeted gamers because its the easiest software to develop and tech/gamer geeks are generally early adopters. Their true vision is for VR to take over the world and it looks like FB want to help them succeed in this.

Re: DriveClub Developer Evolution Studios Struck by Layoffs

eLarkos

The problem is the industry. Us, as consumers, Sony and microsoft are to blame. Nintendo are better off continuing with their current strategy, distancing themselves. Its funny how indies are taking a forefront on a machine with 8gb of ram. Not taking a stab just highlighting a matter.

Edit: Same goes for Vita

Re: PS4 Title DriveClub Decorating Project Morpheus with Tyre Treads

@SimonAdebisi Should an ice cream shop make every flavour of ice cream available just because they can? What happens if someones first flavour is "baby poo"? I dont think they will go back to try a second flavour. Which is a shame because if they only sold chocolate and banana then the person would probably come back for seconds.

Re: PS4 Title DriveClub Decorating Project Morpheus with Tyre Treads

eLarkos

@SimonAdebisi Yes that blur is to simulate real life blur but its actually just a pretty effect that looks nice on a TV. In VR ideally you want your own eyes to create real blur just like real life. What would happen im assuming is that Sonys VR would create pixel blur (like it currently does in all games to some extent) due to the intensity of not only your head movements but also the speed at which the environments are changing. It would need some incredible refresh rates to look as clear as real life. Its this that would make you sick. Of course this is just my thinking.

Re: PS4 Title DriveClub Decorating Project Morpheus with Tyre Treads

eLarkos

@SimonAdebisi It may well be down to the limitations of the VR headset itself. People talk about pixel blur when they move their head too fast in VR due to the latency in refresh rate (or something like that). Perhaps in Driveclub when moving fast the environment becomes a big blur. That's my guess and its also why im glad its still in development.

Re: Review: inFAMOUS: Second Son (PlayStation 4)

eLarkos

Im curious about the review scores on this site and NintendoLife. I know you are sister sites however i dont really understand what that means behind the scenes. What I am curious about is that fairly often when a new big time Nintendo game is released, NintendoLife give it a 9 or 10. However I can't remember the last time a big time ps3/4/vita game got a 9 or 10. Is that because you guys here have a harsher scoring system or is it because the PS games genuinely arent as good as the Nintendo ones?

Re: How Long Will Watch Dogs Stay Connected to Your PS4?

eLarkos

"While there hasn’t been a software drought in the traditional sense, the PlayStation 4 has coasted through a couple of slow months since its launch late last year" - awesome sentence, perfectly put.

Its really hard to tell if the delay is a good or bad thing for sales. GTA5 prob would have smothered it but now im not as interested. 40 hours does seem great though. Dont know about 100h, could just be tedious tasks.

Re: Groan, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Movie Is Just a Retelling of the Game's Story

eLarkos

This article comes off as incredibly pretentious, similar to the last one on this topic. Sounds like you dont want people to be able to experience TLoU without playing a PlayStation. Whats actually the problem with them making a movie? Many terrible movies have been made based off games, but there were no adverse effects because if them. Have a laugh if its bad. Groan.

Re: Sources Suggest PS4's Virtual Reality Headset Stomps All Over Oculus Rift

eLarkos

@get2sammyb I don't believe Sony would even be entering this market if it wasn't for OR. Playing copycats (for lack of a better expression) is where my skepticism comes from (and rightfully so if you look at history). Now if Sony had come out before anyone had ever mentioned VR I would be more optimistic.

@Shaolin Hardware wise, I dont believe Sony have pushed gaming experiences forward at all. They have mostly copied trends. The last thing I remember that was truly unique was the original eyetoy - and that was fantastic and exciting for the times. My mum could be forgiven for mistaking the ps4 for a ps1. (I do love the ps4 btw)

@BornOfEvil I agree, however is functionality competitive good enough for VR? I guess we will see.

Not trying to offend anyone.

Re: Sources Suggest PS4's Virtual Reality Headset Stomps All Over Oculus Rift

eLarkos

The crystal cove kit is already being demoed. Im not some spokesman for the OR but I do buy into their philosophy that it needs to be done right. This cannot be a half ass thing. That means no compromises because of power etc. You say Sony could bring this to the mass market? Well if its not perfect then they will kill it for the mass market.
You do have to wonder how much they invested/cared about this hardware if they are not very active in software development.
My guess: Sony pushing another 'not best' product just to have a presence in the market.

Re: There's a Chance That You'll Be Killing More Clickers in The Last of Us 2

eLarkos

For people saying swear words dont offend you, how do you express anger/frustration/hatred towards someone/something?... With words. Different words offend different people, but swear words (whatever they may be) are offensive by nature.

OT - With the trend in all media these days, surely a sequel is going to happen. Seeing as im yet to experience this first masterpiece, I'm in no rush for a sequel. However doing a back to back marathon of two games doesn't sound that bad haha

Re: Rumour: Sony Will Strap on Its Virtual Reality Headset Next Month

eLarkos

@DaftPlayStation They make good TVs, not the best. They make good headphones, not the best. They make good smartphones, not the best. They make good tablets, not the best. They make good VR, not the best....

Sony is a symbol of quality, no doubt, but they haven't been making the best for a long time now. As I said though, im hoping its an amazing product and its complete possible it will be but my money is on OR. And for me when it comes to something as exciting as VR its all or nothing.

Re: Rumour: Sony Will Strap on Its Virtual Reality Headset Next Month

eLarkos

@BornOfEvil? Have you used OR? Was it the lastest iteration?
The OR team are very up front with their development issues and seem pretty switched on to what is needed. Sony will pump out a thousand products to be in every market. Im not saying its not possible for Sonys VR to be better its just i doubt that it will seeing as how Sony pretty much isnt the best in any tech category right now (bar Home Consoles and compact cameras).

Re: Metal Gear Solid Creator Hideo Kojima Thinks That PS4 Is the 'Best Console'

eLarkos

@JaxonH Isnt it just possible that Renagade Kids fav platform is Nintendo and Kojimas is PS? If revving up the fanboys is a byproduct of them prasing their fav platform, then so be it. I do hear ya but I think both of the developers you mentioned are genuine.

Edit: I think why renegade kid seems so over the top is because Nintendolife interview him every second day.
