Re: November NPD: PS4 Loses to Xbox One for the First Time in Eleven Months

eLarkos

@get2sammyb Yea I agree that not many of the sales will be people buying a second console. Of course some of them will be but the majority of people buy just one console.

MS winning is definitely a good thing for all us gamers. Keep everyone on their toes. Sony didn't need a price cut. Sony needs to continue down its own path. Looking at its own sales, promotion slots, game releases etc. Yes MS are its main competition but the PS4 is proving itself on its own. Sony needs to continue to focus on making the PS4 a great product - games, features etc.

Price cut when it's a good time for PS4 to price cut. Run promotions when its a good time for PS4 to run promotions. Things go very wrong very quickly when companies allow competition to dictate their strategies.

Re: Sony: We're Working on Project Morpheus Experiences That Core Gamers Will Enjoy

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Yea I completely agree. I think VR is the future. I think the Oculus Rift is going to be massive, maybe not commercially at first but definitely in the entertainment area. I was just disagreeing on the part where you said that its extra features are what will make it a big seller. I think people actually want good products and not many people are going to buy a VR headset for its TV functions if its primary VR function is average at best. Extra features or not, VR headsets will have a big impact when VR is great.

Re: Don't Have Destiny's First Expansion? Then You're Locked Out of Some Existing Content

eLarkos

I have no experience at all with Destiny and reading this article felt like reading another language (lol) but it was my impression since the first time I saw an interview with the developers that Destiny was going to be an evolving game. It was never going to be a pay for it once type package. Im not defending this (as i have stated i don't have experience with the game) and certainly a big issue with this might be down to pricing but this is kinda exactly what I expected from the game Destiny. It was always sold as an evolving heavy DLC type experience.

Edit: Right, so they have actually blocked you from playing missions that you could already play and in no way relate to the new DLC I.e the mission and its content wouldn't change at all post purchase of the DLC? That is a big statement.

Re: Sony: We're Working on Project Morpheus Experiences That Core Gamers Will Enjoy

@Bad-MuthaAdebis I disagree that its reasons for success will lie with its additional functionality such as being able to double as a TV screen etc (although I do think it will have these features). The only way it will be successful is if it is a good product on its own. This is the issue with Vita and the reason its not selling. No one cares about its additional functionality (which Sony are so desperate to push) because the system itself is junk. VR will be successful when VR is great. Then and only then. If the VR experience is great and yet it doesn't have all these additional features that you talk about it will still sell well.

Re: PS4 Exclusive The Order: 1886 Sinks Like a Lead Zeppelin

@ztpayne Im not comparing Nintendo games to Sonys. Mario Kart 8 was the best, pikmin 3 was the best, NSMBU was the best, DKCTF is the best, 3D world is unbelievably good (first in the series, not a single glitch, looked fantastic). ZombieU and Wonderful 101 are third party games. Now of course this is all subjective, like you acknowledged, and im well aware that I am not the only person with an opinion. What im trying to say is that Sony's first party games have not been the best. Do you disagree? Do you think that Sonys games this gen have been better than what they have done in the past? No one is sitting in the Nintendo camp stating that Nintendo's output hasn't been up to their best. That is all im saying about Sonys current output - its not their BEST! You even admit that most people dont think Killzone was the best. So why are you arguing? People seem to get so defensive. Dont read any deeper than exactly what im saying.

Re: PS4 Exclusive The Order: 1886 Sinks Like a Lead Zeppelin

eLarkos

@adf86 I'm not talking quantity am I? and neither were you. Im talking about quality. I don't care how many games nintendo had in their first year - what games they did put out were the best. You continue to defend your point of view by picking out ONE game (MLB). You could look at what i'm saying and try to understand my point rather than continue to defend needlessly. Of course it is subjective, and if you think all these PS4 games are the best versions of theirs or similar franchises then wowee your a positive guy.

Im actually in support of this game saying that if it is an on-rails shooter then i'm hoping it can be the BEST on-rails shooter we have seen in a long time.

Re: PS4 Exclusive The Order: 1886 Sinks Like a Lead Zeppelin

eLarkos

@adf86 Sony's exclusives have been a let down so far. Killzone wasnt the best, Infamous wasnt the best, MLB is sport, TLOU is a port, Knack wasnt the best, driveclub wasnt the best, LBP3 wasnt the best.
Arnt the games coming out on the new gen supposed to be the best? Nintendos new entrys are.

Re: PS4 Exclusive The Order: 1886 Sinks Like a Lead Zeppelin

eLarkos

I'm happy for this game to be a completely on-rails cinematic experience. Hopefully they can do it better than anyone has done before. If you don't like this sort of game then you have a plethora of other games 3rd/1st person games to buy. Im so glad this isn't just another 'open-world' 'sandbox' game.

Re: Street Fighter V Punches Its Way onto PS4, PC Exclusively

eLarkos

@KratosMD That link doesn't prove it is a PS4 exclusive at all??

In fact... "it would make use of the Unreal Engine 4 game engine which would allow the game to be developed for multiple platforms"

Under the 'Platforms' category it clearly states that PS4 requires citation. In case you are not aware, that means that it has been pulled out of thin air.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight's Latest PS4 Trailer Twists Metal

eLarkos

@Gamer83 Oh right, yea that blows. However, wasn't this pretty much the case for most last-gen games including the epic rocksteady Batman games?
I think up until now this whole graphical parity thing has been a bit of an excuse for poor work but i'm willing to give Rocksteady the benefit of the doubt. Its not like the Xbox One is chronically underpowered compared to the PS4. Now if it was Wii U parity I would be worried.

Re: Weirdness: Sony's Made a Watch Out of E-Paper

eLarkos

I like it however the thing I like the least is how the bulk of the watch is on the underside of the watch face. it means that the strap will not sit flush on your wrist but instead have to come up to merge with the face. Change that somehow and I would actually buy one.

Edit: you can see what im talking about in the opening shot in the video.

Re: Just What Is Sony Santa Monica Working on for PS4?

eLarkos

@seeafish What rastamadeus said.
Angry birds isnt all of a sudden not a casual game because you put it on hard mode (although im sure it would be substantially more enjoyable).

Great games use level design, gameplay mechanics etc to make the game more complex. Not just increase enemy count and hit damage.

I KNOW that GoW does not become complex as my flatmate finished all of them (He blows at gaming). Hence why I define it as casual. And crud.

Re: Just What Is Sony Santa Monica Working on for PS4?

eLarkos

@Danny2014 Yea, very true. It was the story that hooked my flatmate. And yea the comparison shouldnt be children vs adults it should be hardcore vs casual. To me, these story based games are the most casual you can get, yet the people who play "Hardcore" GoW say that Mario games are for casuals.
Im not actually caught up on this issue haha but I do find it absurdly ironic.

But I personally do find these games a huge pile of crud. I can find WAY better stories in both books and movies and I can find WAY better games on both PS and Nintendo (and MS??) consoles.

Re: Just What Is Sony Santa Monica Working on for PS4?

eLarkos

GoW games to me are the biggest load of crud. The skill required is non existent. My flatmate was a die hard fan and his gaming skills are that of a 3 year old.

It hurts me when people say Nintendo games are for children and yet they then turn around and play some of the easiest casual games available.

Re: Minecraft: PS Vita Edition Secures System's Third Strongest UK Debut

eLarkos

@rastamadeus Yea, exactly this.

I think the people that reckon Sony missed out on a huge opportunity by not having a bundle need to step out of the Sony Universe for a second and realise just how irrelevant the Vita is. Minecraft on the Vita is not a big deal for almost everyone. The amount of people who would buy a Vita to play a game that is on almost everything else is so small its not worth talking about.

Re: Talking Point: Is This Gaming's Most Disappointing Ever Year?

eLarkos

@ZeD Both iTunes and Google Play both currently stream all entertainment BUT games. That's my point.

Imagine purchasing GTA6 on Google Play and being able to login and play it on any device in the world that runs either the Chrome browser or Android OS. Its a crazy thought and one that Sony will have to deal with... quickly.

Re: Talking Point: Is This Gaming's Most Disappointing Ever Year?

eLarkos

@get2sammyb Yea, well that's my hope for Sony. I obviously don't know the technical aspects behind Gaikais technology but I assuming (maybe incorrectly) that it's nothing that MS, Apple, Google can't do. Compare PS Now to iTunes, Google Play Store and Windows app store - it really cant compete. I would much rather buy GTA6 on the Google Play store than PS Now. Wouldnt you? I know a fair few iTunes users who would much rather have it tied to that.

There are instances where the big three (google, ms, apple) are not winning - Music streaming. Spotify has done a fantastic job there. I just dont think that will be the case for PS Now.

Edit: the reason as to why this gen has proved this to me is that Sony have clearly shown that they are currently not the world leaders in online infrastructure. Harsh but true.
