Re: Sony: We Need to Convince PS4 Owners to Spend Several Hundred Dollars on Project Morpheus

eLarkos

Microsoft are absolutely killing Sony strategically. Project Morpheus is just going to be another flop that drives users to the competition. We need to start seeing what Sonys doing that is actually BETTER than it's comp. The games coming out on the PS4 might be better currently, but that won't matter in a year or so. If I was the editor of this website I would seriously consider my long term plans. Won't be much to write about when PlayStation is the small player.

@LordBagardo I have a couple of mates who recently moved to the UK and lame is not the description they gave of a few of the concerts they have been to haha! I do know what you mean though. I don't want to give NZ a bad image but it's certainly true that this behavior happens.

Re: That Terrible Teaser Trailer? That Is Guitar Hero Live

@LordBagardo Im from NZ but currently live in Brazil. I may have gone a little overboard by saying I see it at every festival I go to but its far from an uncommon sight. I do probably go to more concerts/festivals than the norm though. I can think of two times off the top of my head in the last couple years where this exact thing happened. Issues with sound right from the start and the crowd didn't want a bar of it. I guess the difference was that I didn't think it was out of place at all in the video whereas you thought it was.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time to Introduce EA Access on PS4?

eLarkos

@themcnoisy In case you haven't noticed, home consoles have required increasing amounts of patches, downloads, firmware updates, server fixes etc. Sounds a bit like a PC to me...

I think you will find that there is an ever increasing thirst for change for how we purchase and consume entertainment media, including gaming. Sony knows this, that's why they are pumping so many resources into streaming. However it seems that EA have the same idea, and NVIDIA, and Steam, and Apple, and Google, and MS, and everyone else in the market. Sony's brand name will only hold them so far until consumers realise that they can get their favourite games elsewhere. Who do you think will win in the digital age?... Hang on.... brb.... just going to check if PSN is online.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time to Introduce EA Access on PS4?

eLarkos

This is the future and im sorry if you can't see/accept that. All EA is doing is cutting out the middleman. Eventually we will either be streaming all our games or they will be run on PC console boxes under our TV's. Both of these scenarios see EA not reliant on one particular hardware manufacturer (e.g Sony). Playstation is becoming irrelevant (rah rah rah 10 billions PS4s sold rah rah) and they are just slowing down the inevitable. Yes, this needs to be on PS4. Yes, I hate where the gaming industry is going.

@Jaz007 There is a normal mode for multiplayer.

I think this first person video mode is a great idea. I think it will surprisingly make you feel more like a rock star as you progress through the career mode. Better than the same old same old all over again anyway.

And @LordBagardo you haven't been to many concerts have you? I have seen crowds change moods as quickly as that many many times.

Re: Review: Bloodborne (PlayStation 4)

eLarkos

I absolutely love dying in games. It means that my skill needs to improve to proceed. Nothing worse than games that I can play through first time or only die here and there for silly reasons. Unfortunately many modern games are like this. Bloodborne sounds like a fantastic game. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Re: Yoshida Wants to See 'Something Scary' Like P.T. on Project Morpheus

eLarkos

Im curious about other peoples experience.
My father-in-law just purchased a PS4 (don't ask me why. He wasn't even aware he had to pay for online play. PS4 is selling very well, very strangely) so I now have far more frequent access to use one.

I played around with The Playroom for a good amount of time last night and was incredibly disappointed. It's recognition seemed pretty archaic and it most certainly had lag between my movements and on screen. It may have been my set up... couch, lighting etc.

Is this the experience most people have? How on earth can the Project Morpheus be any close to good if its using this technology? The reaction from people who have used it seem to be fairly positive so im genuinely confused.

Re: Players Aren't Happy with 2K Games After Publisher Deletes NBA 2K14 Save Files

eLarkos

@ztpayne7 My comment was in response to Gamer83 talking about the current gaming industry. Consumers hold the power in any given market. People stop purchasing this crap and the industry will change. The gaming consumers are demanding top of the line graphics, online services additional features year in year out that are pressuring these developers to do what they are doing. Yet when the inevitable downsides to this happen e.g delays, bugs, dropped frames, closed servers etc the same people have an outcry. If you are dead sick of all this crap stop purchasing the crap products. Play an older version of NBA and enjoy it until the developers realise that these current issues arn't good enough. There are currently many games out there that have none of these issues that desperately need support yet many people are turning a blind eye to them because they don't have RAWR POWAH. This current generation of candy crap consumers is the issue. True gamers are suffering. Rant over.

EDIT: Mallof summed up my comment far more succinctly than I did.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront's First PS4 Gameplay Will Swoop in This Month

eLarkos

@charlesnarles Why is it so bad now? Maybe because there are two very good previous iterations in the series that arn't skins.
The only noobz here is the person who thinks that the amount of repetitive iterations of games hasn't increased in the last couple of gens. This is simply people showing their displeasure in the current attack of the clones.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront's First PS4 Gameplay Will Swoop in This Month

eLarkos

@BertoFlyingFox Yea, na I didn't mean you explicitly stated it was copy and paste that's why I used the hypothetical "would". I mentioned that in case that's where the convo was heading.

Oh right, so you just meant that Battlefront found inspiration in Battlefield. Not that it was actually built off the game. That's cool, 1942 is an amazing game and yea of course there are similarities between the two. I just hope that "similarities" is as far as the new Battlefront and Battlefield 4 go.

EDIT: "Inspiration" might be a bit light, but we know what each other means.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront's First PS4 Gameplay Will Swoop in This Month

eLarkos

@BertoFlyingFox
Yea, FPS/TPS isn't an issue I have. To say Battlefront was a copy&paste of 1942 would be a bit of a stretch. I didn't know it was made off 1942, do you have sources for this?

Besides, DICE developed 1942 but not Battlefront. This time they are developing both - much larger risk of straight copy&paste.

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront's First PS4 Gameplay Will Swoop in This Month

People complain about Nintendo regurgitating games because Mario is on the cover of every second box. How incredibly wrong they are. Same IP does not equal same experience and when people say these comments about Nintendo they clearly demonstrate their lack of gaming knowledge. You don't have to like the games but you need to be real about it.
On the other hand, these Triple A developers are pumping out the same old experience over and over under the guise of a different hero/theme/name and people lap it up.

I for one will not be happy with Star Wars Battlefield. Why? Because I can already get that experience on two current games.
Im not hating on anyone just trying to highlight a perspective.

Yes, bit of a rant, but I loved the previous Battlefront games and of all the bollocks thats happening in the gaming industry at the moment, a Star Wars Battlefield would highlight my biggest issue.

Still, holding hope though....

Re: Of Course There's a Game Breaking Bug in Bloodborne

eLarkos

@BLPs Although I agree that Nintendo seem to continuously have better quality control, your comment needlessly brought up Zelda Wii U as a gloat for Nintendo. You have no idea if there will be a glitch in Zelda and to use a delay as reason to assume as much is quite simply silly in this day and age.

Your point was valid, your Nintendo reference is unneeded. That's why people might have issue with your post.

Re: God of War III Brings the Brand's Best Boss Fight to PS4 in July

eLarkos

@Dohv To be clear, Im talking about games on the Playstation system, not necessarily developed by a Sony Studio. Anyway, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about when referencing Nintendo. I assume you have never actually played any of those games and if you are including all sequels as remasters then we are surely talking about significantly different things.
