Great article but I would change one thing. Uncharted 1, was the one who started it all imho. A true next gen game, a true first party AAA, system seller. Indeed, U2 perfected the recipe but U1 was the engine start for PS road roller!
So far, ps5 looks like the dream machine: True next gen hardware with ssd etc, ps4 backward compatibility, (hopefully)a great controller, full 8k support and most important a great software to come! I don't know what the price will be(imo 499-549), I don't care for my huge backlog, what I know for sure is a day one purchase for me!!
I kinda liked the open beta, I would consider buying it sometime but the most big con for me is the "always online" requirement which just kills the game. Especially if you are a solo gamer. Pass!
I'm all in for the next gen hype! I really loved the psvr(even if I abandoned it) and i would gladly support any futuristic tech related with games or movies. Let's wait and see also if Cameron creates a new trend like 3d image and how all these will end to something truly innovative..
Wow that came out of nowhere! And it looks beautiful! I haven't played any other (good)platform since Hut in Time last year, so that looks a nice addition.
I think this scenario is very possible and I don't see why many disagree with that. Let's take the current situation for example: If someone goes today to buy a console he will have two options according to his likes. Nothing to complain here, and the current market seems to like that option, with great sales. I don't see why Sony(or Microsoft) would change that situation next year and get back to "one console at the shelf" option. After all we all saw that pro models coexist perfectly with base models as far as the games concern.
The video didn't level up the hype for sure. Most possible it dropped it. Also the graphics could look better imho. Observer is still the king in cyberpunk graphics, even in a much smaller scale. I'm still still hyped, I'm still day 1, but until the last day I'll hope for a 3d person option. I guess watch dogs 3 will fill that gap..
I really hope for a new ip! I think it's the perfect studio for a next gen open world performer that we miss in this gen(until we see beyond good and evil 2).
Of course it's a jump but not as long as i waited. Graphically, this could easily be a ps3 title imho. It's a must buy though since it's one of my best series in ps1/psp.
After seeing the miracle of Rdr2 on current "weak"generation I'm sure we'll see greatness on the base ps5 within the limit of 499$. Not more, I'm sure of this.
As for 60fps, I've solved this years ago with the True Motion(or similar) on the TVs, so I'm only concerned mostly for great graphics.
Disappointment of the year. I was really hyped because I love that setting/world but then nothing really kept me. I finished it just to finish it and I never touched it again.
Wow, a next gen Red dead at the beginning of the Ps5 would be more that welcomed! A great opportunity for us who haven't played it or the rest who want to repeat it. Let's wait and see...
As many have mentioned, it would be preferable a 3d person mode. You can enjoy more the environments, the player, the rpg elements. In general, it's more suitable to an open world rpg and that's why most players want this game, not for its shooting part. I'll buy it day one of course but I'll be waiting for some patch some time eventually..
@hulkie Totally agree with that. I would love to have it some days/months before so I can have some more info before I start the game. I will definitely buy it though. Does anyone knows if this is the edition that comes with the collector's?
Let's face it, Nintendo games are always at the top because there aren't any other games at Switch, except indies. That's why the Nintendo exclusives have a far greater sale ratio than Sony exclusives. It's not a bad thing, I'm just saying. My only AAA games on switch is Mario and Zelda. On ps4 I'm struggling to choose between the dozens of multies and exs.
I had the game on my list and I started it now for something to relax. It hooked me very hard though and I finished it in two days on my Ps4. Beautiful game, easy to play with some hard challenges in the last two chapters. I loved especially the last one which reminded me a lot the original Prince of Persia on Dos. Thanks for the review btw!
That would be great news, Sony needs to expand more since Microsoft has bought so many studios. Remedy made my favorite game of the first period of current gen, Quantum break, so I'm completely loyal to them. Control is day one and I hope next Sony exclusivity.
Thanks for the review! This game came out of nowhere for me and since I miss a city exploration game since Watchdogs 2, I think it'll be first in my purchase list. I watched some videos too but I didn't quite understood: does it have jump button, can you do some parkour at the buildings? And also what about day cycle? I prefer to play games at day but I didn't see any daytime video/photo. Thanks
Is that an open world game? I mean it has city exploration, side missions etc? In that case I might be interested but I haven't played any Yakuza game.
If there was a possibility to have a day one launch of ps5 with cyberpunk, I would definitely wait a few more months. As now, I can't wait, let's say a year after March 2020 to play it. So it's a day one purchase for me at the ps4 and we'll see for ps5.
It's crazy to see that the most waited games are all kinda cyberpunk open world rpg! Well beside this holy trinity and some others of top ten, I personally wait for Control, Oddworld soulstorm, Yooka and maybe Shenmue, Deathloop and Sinking city. All had some great stuff in E3.
@Shigurui Lol! Actually I was 20 too but it's been so long ago that I recall it like I was just a kid 😄! And maybe Suzuki will transfer himself in the game's AI and live there to continue the game in the cloud, who knows!
Jeez, this is unacceptable! The momentum of Shenmue saga has long gone and the players funded the sequel because they wanted their best childhood game to finally conclude! Not to start waiting again for a series of games that exists on Suzuki's mind. If that really happens, I might not get the game at all. Which, to be honest, looks outdated.
I really don't get why many prefers youtube over a show like E3. Like many forms of entertainment have their own big year show(Cannes for cinema, San Diego Comic con for comics/figures, etc), so does the video games with E3. We still need that important days of the year to be more happy and hyped for our hobby, we still need the big announcements in a beautiful show instead of a youtube trailer, the happy moments like the Keanu appearance, the bombing of trailers, gameplay videos and interviews that will keep us busy for the rest of the year. Not to mention the image of the company to the public. Yea, a solo trailer or show like death stranding and states of play will make more noise in the silence but come on, it's not everything just numbers and they can easily coexist. I really hope the companies will continue to support E3, will improve their shows and the Sony absence was only a bad exception.
I'm preordering me too. I just wait to decide which edition of all. Also I really hope to finally add a third person perspective so the game will be more appealing to even greater audience so it can boost its sales even more. Who wouldn't buy a cyberpunk GTA after all? 😉
Definitely a cross gen title! Like GtaV and Last of us. Ps4: normal version Ps pro: 4k support and/or enhanced visuals Ps5: 4k,60fps, more enhanced visuals.
Looks beautiful! I just really hope to add a fist person view! We have all kinds of games in first person except of one colorful, joyful platform adventure!
I really don't see where is the bad at this, especially for a hole new article! It's a nice classic cover ( like from similar movies). Not perfect but not bad and definitely better than the western.
Both great games, even if I have only played their prequels(rayman origins & heavy rain). I guess they didn't give heavy rain because it's free with the pre-order of Detroit and didn't want to cut any sales from it.
Really loved it! Best thing of all,the acting: Both voice and facial expression is simple prefect. I played through all the endings and it really gives you a lot of possibilities! I consider of buying it day one even if I never do this for any game, but I'll see.
Bought it with very excitement but sold it very soon. Yes the vr is there, Sony made it to offer us that beautiful experience. But just for short. Unfortunately there are many things that spoil the enjoyment and immersion. From technicals ( low resolution, blurry image, black side boarders) to practicals ( heavy, getting wet, cable mess, tracking limits). Maybe many can handle all these and get the enjoyment but as much as I love vr and would love to play these second bunch games, it's not ready for me yet.
Imo, the main reason why Vita was unwanted (I guess this is what we discuss and not why it actually failed) is just bad timing. Around 2012 was the big bang of large cellphones and small cheap tablets. Suddenly vita from the main portable playing machine, as psp was, had had multiple do-it-all rivals so not many cared for a small(er) expensive tablet-like console even with its full length games. The hype was with fancy phones, fancier tablets and ps3/ps4 for games (plus ds/3ds for traditional "game boy" gaming).
Now market is more clear. We all have big cellphones mostly for internet/social use, tablets are dead, so a big(ger) portable game machine can have its place with no actual competitors. Plus the hypes of Mario, zelda, of the hybrid character and the lovable joycons, and so we have a winner!
There should have been an "I owned it and I sold it" option. In my opinion the games are here but the tech not yet. The low resolution and the small field of view are killing most of the immersion. Plus the cables, plus the weight, makes actual gaming tiring and a lot less fun. I believe though, it's a very promising technology so I 'll be in for the second gen in ps5.
