@danzoEX Review scores at this level of games don't really make anymore difference. Whether it's a 9/10, 9.3/10, 10/10 or 11/10 means the same thing - it's a DAMN great game and everyone should experience it.

I've never been this excited about a FF game since FF10. When I played Zelda TotK, I was so sure that it is the GotY. But after I only played the 2-hour demo of FF16, I'm really not so sure anymore and went straight in PSN to get myself a digital copy.

Damn, this year's GotY will be so interesting.

@UltimateOtaku91 Comparing this game to Genshin doesn't make sense. It's the first open-world mobile anime game. It has the First Mover's Advantages.

This game, on the other hand, and in an over-saturated market of live service games nowadays...

It's not because they don't have good games on it but I only have so much time as an adult. After subbing for a year and got to know the game catalogue, it's always better for my time, energy and money to buy the game that I really want to play.

Definitely FF16 but probably not in June though. I still can't put down that game and I doubt I could in June... LOL

Other than Spiderman 2, though it's not the game for me but I can clearly see the production value, there's nothing much going on.

If every single game out there is live service, what's the point of creating this category? Why would Sony announce the split of 60/40 live service vs traditional games if every single game nowadays is live service?

@Kidfried They are not. They are just great games with very high replay value. None of them have micro-transactions nor are designed to keep players. They are designed to be fun.

In fact, Nintendo has even announced that it has ended support for Animal Crossing back in November 2021.

This is what happens when you make quality games that are almost bug-free. They have more longevity as live service games.

@SoulChimera So true. Internet is always about the loud minorities. It's not real life. We've seen this playing out over and over countless times.

I'll take the most recent example, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. How many people predicted that the $70 price tag will affect its sales and how many people appeared outrageous?

It still sold 10m copies in 3 days. Then we see trolls claiming it will sell 12m if it was $60. Lol.

@Heavy_Artilery It won't be the same. A popular mobile game, Genshin Impact, tried at the start but even they have to forge their own path later on.

Games are essentially art; the form can be replicated but not the essence. This is why many beautifully looking AAA games nowadays feel so empty and boring.

I love cozy games! This looks like another great one.

Sony definitely has a better balance on subscription and producing quality titles at the same time. It's not an easy feat.

But average gamers, especially newer ones, will still be drawn to MS' quantity first.

Microsoft has all the resources and money in the world but he said they can't compete? The only reason that he can't compete is because he thinks that great games aren't everything when he's in the business of gaming.

Great games are literally the only reason why Nintendo is so popular despite their hardware and online support being 2 generations behind. I don't believe he can't see this.

I don't think Microsoft can't compete. It's more like they just want to make quick big bucks instead of settling down and make great games.

@LifeGirl The article never once implied that subscription is dying; it is about how it is not the future of gaming. There's a fundamental difference between these 2 stances.

Let me give you an example if you can't grasp it. 'Having pets is not the future of a family' vs. 'having pets as family is dying out.'

Erm, I'm not sure if I should be happy about it. I mean sure, I want to play great games but I also don't want a gaming studio to push past its (mainly the staff's) limits.

I don't believe in subscription model for ANYTHING, let alone gaming.

It results in having people keep paying with decreasing emotional connection. It's to the detriment of meaningful engagement, ultimately, a meaningful life.

To people who said scaling back is the solution, have you seen Forbidden West's DLC getting review bombed for being "too short" & the map is "too small" just a few articles ago? And it's only $20.

There may be a small group of people prefers small games. They are not the majority or why are all the top selling games massive games now?

It's a complicated problem. Also, games are not more expensive now. Just take a look at how much PS1 games cost back in the days. Those prices are before inflation somemore.

@Ralizah Same. I think they wanted to and planned to until they got down to real work. The loading time, not graphics, would kill the experience.

Love the game. Congrats to the developers on getting the well-deserved love for the great game that they've created.

I might be 1 of the only 5 people who likes 13 more than 12. But I share the sentiment that the series has lost me after 13.

This game looks like it's reviving the whole FF series again and I will be playing it.

I understand that people working in gaming have to watch the reveals since it's their work but, an average player can choose not to.

Don't agree with that they should stop it though I didn't watch the latest reveal.

@BeerIsAwesome Realistically, rolling 40x will not get you a 5* character from the limited banner. You need to prepare about 70 rolls at least to even try for a 5*. And that's provided you don't land in the 50% chance of getting a character from the standard pool.

@ThomasHL That's my favorite too! It's just so refreshingly different from anything that I've played before and beautiful.

It's really tricky to pull it off because the main selling points of PS5 don't translate to remote play very well. That's why their PS Vita failed. (Or they didn't hang around long enough.)

Forbidden West DLC without a doubt. It's as exciting as a brand new game.
And if I hadn't played Monster Hunter Sunrise on Switch, it will be in my list too. It's an amazing DLC too.

@frankmcma They didn't release any specific info about what will happen in the the DLC except that it took place right after FW so the player needs to finish the game.

Oh and that pre-order bonus.

I'm 60+ hours into FW and should finish the main quest right after the DLC launched. This is perfect.

Damn, I just started playing HFW a week ago (my 1st Horizon game) and love his portrayal of Sylens.

This is too tragic.

Many people only start to get PS5 recently due to the shortage of chips during the pandemic. It's not the same era as PS4 so the comparison has little basis.
