@danzoEX Review scores at this level of games don't really make anymore difference. Whether it's a 9/10, 9.3/10, 10/10 or 11/10 means the same thing - it's a DAMN great game and everyone should experience it.
I've never been this excited about a FF game since FF10. When I played Zelda TotK, I was so sure that it is the GotY. But after I only played the 2-hour demo of FF16, I'm really not so sure anymore and went straight in PSN to get myself a digital copy.
@Cutmastavictory Totally agree. I'm actually going to let my sub run out this time.
It's not because they don't have good games on it but I only have so much time as an adult. After subbing for a year and got to know the game catalogue, it's always better for my time, energy and money to buy the game that I really want to play.
@Magnus_Selene Call me cynical, I was wondering when it's Naughty Dog's turn after seeing almost all AAA studios took turns to fall from grace in the past decade. LOL.
I feel like Sony is lost. It doesn't know what to focus on anymore so it starts to throw darts at random things like.. a streaming device for PS5?! And PS5 earbuds?
Get back at making good games please. Don't be led astray by Microsoft and started to believe the whole "making good games is not enough" BS.
Other than Spiderman 2, though it's not the game for me but I can clearly see the production value, there's nothing much going on.
@Kidfried According to your logic that as long as a game gets patches and updates, it is a live service game. What games are NOT live service nowadays?
If every single game out there is live service, what's the point of creating this category? Why would Sony announce the split of 60/40 live service vs traditional games if every single game nowadays is live service?
@Kidfried They are not. They are just great games with very high replay value. None of them have micro-transactions nor are designed to keep players. They are designed to be fun.
In fact, Nintendo has even announced that it has ended support for Animal Crossing back in November 2021.
This is what happens when you make quality games that are almost bug-free. They have more longevity as live service games.
@SoulChimera So true. Internet is always about the loud minorities. It's not real life. We've seen this playing out over and over countless times.
I'll take the most recent example, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. How many people predicted that the $70 price tag will affect its sales and how many people appeared outrageous?
It still sold 10m copies in 3 days. Then we see trolls claiming it will sell 12m if it was $60. Lol.
@Heavy_Artilery It won't be the same. A popular mobile game, Genshin Impact, tried at the start but even they have to forge their own path later on.
Games are essentially art; the form can be replicated but not the essence. This is why many beautifully looking AAA games nowadays feel so empty and boring.
@Blackmagehobbit Absolutely. This is one of those times when I see poor leadership ruins everything.
Microsoft has all the resources and money in the world but he said they can't compete? The only reason that he can't compete is because he thinks that great games aren't everything when he's in the business of gaming.
Great games are literally the only reason why Nintendo is so popular despite their hardware and online support being 2 generations behind. I don't believe he can't see this.
@LifeGirl The article never once implied that subscription is dying; it is about how it is not the future of gaming. There's a fundamental difference between these 2 stances.
Let me give you an example if you can't grasp it. 'Having pets is not the future of a family' vs. 'having pets as family is dying out.'
Erm, I'm not sure if I should be happy about it. I mean sure, I want to play great games but I also don't want a gaming studio to push past its (mainly the staff's) limits.
I don't believe in subscription model for ANYTHING, let alone gaming.
It results in having people keep paying with decreasing emotional connection. It's to the detriment of meaningful engagement, ultimately, a meaningful life.
To people who said scaling back is the solution, have you seen Forbidden West's DLC getting review bombed for being "too short" & the map is "too small" just a few articles ago? And it's only $20.
There may be a small group of people prefers small games. They are not the majority or why are all the top selling games massive games now?
It's a complicated problem. Also, games are not more expensive now. Just take a look at how much PS1 games cost back in the days. Those prices are before inflation somemore.
@BeerIsAwesome Realistically, rolling 40x will not get you a 5* character from the limited banner. You need to prepare about 70 rolls at least to even try for a 5*. And that's provided you don't land in the 50% chance of getting a character from the standard pool.
It's really tricky to pull it off because the main selling points of PS5 don't translate to remote play very well. That's why their PS Vita failed. (Or they didn't hang around long enough.)
Forbidden West DLC without a doubt. It's as exciting as a brand new game. And if I hadn't played Monster Hunter Sunrise on Switch, it will be in my list too. It's an amazing DLC too.
@RBMango Not a good idea to write a character out cuz of the actor. How many James Bonds have we got now? Can you imagine that he's gone after Sean Connery?
@AgentMantis FF15 is a missed opportunity due to development woes. The potentials are definitely there.
I hope this game could overcome those issues and live up to the expectations.
@frankmcma They didn't release any specific info about what will happen in the the DLC except that it took place right after FW so the player needs to finish the game.
Many people only start to get PS5 recently due to the shortage of chips during the pandemic. It's not the same era as PS4 so the comparison has little basis.

@Nepp67 The movie is one of the best action--adventure films nowadays.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Update 1.03 Out Now, Get All the Patch Notes Here
OMG this is the game-saving update that I've been waiting for
Re: Even with Final Fantasy 16, PS5 Can't Outsell Switch in Japan
There are so many families with multiple Switches/Switch Lite but I don't know anyone who's bought 2 PS5 in the same family.
It's not surprising at all.
Re: Microsoft Planned to Conquer Japan with Square Enix Buyout, Eye-Opening Documents Reveal
"Spend Sony out of business".
Jesus, this is competition at its worst. With all the money to invest in building the industry up, THIS is what MS came up?
I really hope acquisition fails.

Damn, this year's GotY will be so interesting.
Re: Preview: Ignore the Snark, Foamstars Is Good
@UltimateOtaku91 Comparing this game to Genshin doesn't make sense. It's the first open-world mobile anime game. It has the First Mover's Advantages.
This game, on the other hand, and in an over-saturated market of live service games nowadays...
Re: Preview: Ignore the Snark, Foamstars Is Good
@PlayStationGamer3919 I agree. I give it a year though just because of the initial attention that it will attract.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Diablo 4?
@Shstrick Same here.
I'm still on Zelda. I guess I'll only get D4 when its expansion out or it goes on sale.
Re: Poll: Which PS5 Blockbuster Will You Be Playing in June?
Definitely FF16 but probably not in June though. I still can't put down that game and I doubt I could in June... LOL
Re: Sony Significantly Scales Back Development of The Last of Us Multiplayer for PS5, Says Report
@UltimateOtaku91 Anecdotal evidence doesn't counter facts. Just because you didn't spend money, it doesn't mean the system is not predatory.

I love cozy games! This looks like another great one.
Re: Soapbox: PS Plus Might Be Gaming's Best Subscription Service Now
Sony definitely has a better balance on subscription and producing quality titles at the same time. It's not an easy feat.
But average gamers, especially newer ones, will still be drawn to MS' quantity first.

I don't think Microsoft can't compete. It's more like they just want to make quick big bucks instead of settling down and make great games.

Re: Honkai: Star Rail Pre-Downloads Begin, But No Movement on PS5, PS4
@Ralizah Same. I think they wanted to and planned to until they got down to real work. The loading time, not graphics, would kill the experience.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy, PS5's Spellbinding Harry Potter Spin-Off, Massively Exceeded Sales Expectations
Love the game. Congrats to the developers on getting the well-deserved love for the great game that they've created.
Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy 16 Is the Most Excited I've Been for the Series in Almost 20 Years
I might be 1 of the only 5 people who likes 13 more than 12. But I share the sentiment that the series has lost me after 13.
This game looks like it's reviving the whole FF series again and I will be playing it.
Re: Soapbox: Watch Another 20 Minutes of Final Fantasy 16? You Must Be Mad
I understand that people working in gaming have to watch the reveals since it's their work but, an average player can choose not to.
Don't agree with that they should stop it though I didn't watch the latest reveal.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West's PS5 Exclusive DLC Has Another Staggering Settlement to Explore
@ThomasHL That's my favorite too! It's just so refreshingly different from anything that I've played before and beautiful.

Re: Poll: Which PS5, PS4 Games Are You Most Looking Forward to in April 2023?
Forbidden West DLC without a doubt. It's as exciting as a brand new game.
And if I hadn't played Monster Hunter Sunrise on Switch, it will be in my list too. It's an amazing DLC too.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Goes Gold Well Ahead of June Release Date
@ShogunRok LMAO! Hilarious but probably true.
Re: Best PS Plus Games
I don't agree with some rankings (e.g. Uncharted and GoW are too high and Spiderman Miles Morales is too low) but it's a great list nonetheless.
Re: The Late Lance Reddick Will Return in Destiny 2, Horizon Forbidden West
@RBMango Not a good idea to write a character out cuz of the actor. How many James Bonds have we got now? Can you imagine that he's gone after Sean Connery?

Medieval + magic = my weak spot.
Can't wait for this game!
Re: You Must Beat Horizon Forbidden West to Play PS5 DLC Burning Shores

Oh and that pre-order bonus.
Re: You Must Beat Horizon Forbidden West to Play PS5 DLC Burning Shores
I'm 60+ hours into FW and should finish the main quest right after the DLC launched. This is perfect.

I find it interesting how is the exact same game getting 7/10 on PS5 but 9/10 on Switch?

@themightyant Yep, the list is missing Genshin Impact.
Re: Horizon, The Wire's Lance Reddick Has Passed Away
