@MagisterMagi I feel the same. Sure, GaaS is good money but at what cost?
I'm not anti-GaaS but the focus should not be on it. It should always be on how to optimize the console game experience that is a little difficult to experience on other platforms like mobile devices and PC. (People can argue that there's nothing that PC can't do, but console has the advantage of standardized specs)
@UltimateOtaku91 Or rather, they spend the money smarter by investing in MAKING great games.
Ultimately, subscription model is reliant on the quality of the content. What MS is doing does very little to nothing for the quality. They are ultimately shooting their own foot in the long run.
@Afroducc That's fast! I'm still at Act 2 and my official playtime is already 89 hours. The real time is definitely 100+ hours because of many reloads.
I'm probably not going to buy the game if I didn't like Divinity 2 so much, let alone the Deluxe version. I think Larian Studios really deserve all the support.
@Tomato_Goose It has more gameplay compared to Genshin Impact. Also, it's still a mobile gacha game at the end of the day so the game design philosophy is very different from normal console or PC games.
@danzoEX Review scores at this level of games don't really make anymore difference. Whether it's a 9/10, 9.3/10, 10/10 or 11/10 means the same thing - it's a DAMN great game and everyone should experience it.
I've never been this excited about a FF game since FF10. When I played Zelda TotK, I was so sure that it is the GotY. But after I only played the 2-hour demo of FF16, I'm really not so sure anymore and went straight in PSN to get myself a digital copy.
@Cutmastavictory Totally agree. I'm actually going to let my sub run out this time.
It's not because they don't have good games on it but I only have so much time as an adult. After subbing for a year and got to know the game catalogue, it's always better for my time, energy and money to buy the game that I really want to play.
@Magnus_Selene Call me cynical, I was wondering when it's Naughty Dog's turn after seeing almost all AAA studios took turns to fall from grace in the past decade. LOL.
I feel like Sony is lost. It doesn't know what to focus on anymore so it starts to throw darts at random things like.. a streaming device for PS5?! And PS5 earbuds?
Get back at making good games please. Don't be led astray by Microsoft and started to believe the whole "making good games is not enough" BS.
Other than Spiderman 2, though it's not the game for me but I can clearly see the production value, there's nothing much going on.
@Kidfried According to your logic that as long as a game gets patches and updates, it is a live service game. What games are NOT live service nowadays?
If every single game out there is live service, what's the point of creating this category? Why would Sony announce the split of 60/40 live service vs traditional games if every single game nowadays is live service?
@Kidfried They are not. They are just great games with very high replay value. None of them have micro-transactions nor are designed to keep players. They are designed to be fun.
In fact, Nintendo has even announced that it has ended support for Animal Crossing back in November 2021.
This is what happens when you make quality games that are almost bug-free. They have more longevity as live service games.
@SoulChimera So true. Internet is always about the loud minorities. It's not real life. We've seen this playing out over and over countless times.
I'll take the most recent example, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. How many people predicted that the $70 price tag will affect its sales and how many people appeared outrageous?
It still sold 10m copies in 3 days. Then we see trolls claiming it will sell 12m if it was $60. Lol.
@Heavy_Artilery It won't be the same. A popular mobile game, Genshin Impact, tried at the start but even they have to forge their own path later on.
Games are essentially art; the form can be replicated but not the essence. This is why many beautifully looking AAA games nowadays feel so empty and boring.
@Blackmagehobbit Absolutely. This is one of those times when I see poor leadership ruins everything.
Microsoft has all the resources and money in the world but he said they can't compete? The only reason that he can't compete is because he thinks that great games aren't everything when he's in the business of gaming.
Great games are literally the only reason why Nintendo is so popular despite their hardware and online support being 2 generations behind. I don't believe he can't see this.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Release Date Will Indeed Be Revealed Today
@UltimateOtaku91 Same.
I was kinda sad about not gonna have a great RPG after BG3 and this pops up.
Re: PS5, PS4's Most Played Games Probably Won't Surprise You
None of the games that my friends and I play. Damn, we really are the minorities.

DAMN Disco Elysium! I've been wanting to play this game for so long.
This is an amazing list.
Re: PlayStation's Push for Live Service Games Hasn't Been Going Smoothly
Is ANYONE surprised by this except may be... Jim Ryan? LOL.
Re: Another High Profile Live Service Flop As SEGA Pulls the Plug on HYENAS Before Launch
@get2sammyb They are likely going to be the same group of people playing Genshin Impact, albeit it is a pretty big number in this case.
GaaS has long reached its peak and I hope Sony will see this with the current CEO gone.
Re: Reaction: PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan May Have Been Disliked, But Leaves Big Boots to Fill
@MagisterMagi I feel the same. Sure, GaaS is good money but at what cost?

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty?
Not my type of games, especially when it's a 3rd person shooter. But if I'm gonna try any 3rd person shooter out, this will be it.
Re: Community: Push Square Community's Best Game of All Time Has Been Decided
Japan Studio had so many phenomenal games. It's a pity that Sony shut it down.
Re: Preview: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail Dev Has Quietly Become a PS5, PS4 Powerhouse
@Rjak I'd compare it to having fast food. It's simple, quick and easy way for some dopamine rush.
Re: Bayonetta Director Hideki Kamiya to Leave PlatinumGames
@themightyant YES! Okami really needs a sequel.
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 3 Is Gigantic, Out Now on PS5 with Improved Performance
Awesome! Now I can finally start playing Act 3!
Re: Nine Minutes of Dragon's Dogma 2 Gameplay Is Enough to Make You Drool
I was sad when I think about after finishing Baldur's Gate 3, there won't any great RPG lined up.
I'm not sad anymore. This looks great!
Re: PlayStation's 2024 Release Schedule Is Already a Joke
@UltimateOtaku91 Same! How do I get the extra time to sleep next year. Hmm...
Re: Xbox Documents Reveal Staggering Cost of Bringing Games to Game Pass, PS Plus

Re: Xbox Almost Flashed Its Cash At Warner Bros, Sees Nintendo As the Holy Grail
Buying Nintendo? Are we back in the last century, specifically the year 1999?
Re: Baldur's Gate 3's Anticipated Patch 3 Drops Next Week, on the Same Day as Cyberpunk 2077 2.0
@Afroducc That's fast! I'm still at Act 2 and my official playtime is already 89 hours. The real time is definitely 100+ hours because of many reloads.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Baldur's Gate 3?
It's THE best RPG that I've played in YEARS.
Re: Rumour: Six PS Plus Extra Games Leaked Ahead of September Announcement
Damn, the 1st 3 games are all great that I've wanted to play, especially 13 Sentinels.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Baldur's Gate 3?
@ztpayne7 Same.
I'm probably not going to buy the game if I didn't like Divinity 2 so much, let alone the Deluxe version. I think Larian Studios really deserve all the support.
Re: PS5 Inches Closer to GachaStation 5 with DanMachi Battle Chronicle Confirmation
You forgot to mention Tower of Fantasy. But the PS5 version really does look like the mobile being blown up. Meaning, it doesn't look good.
Re: Patapon Successor Ratatan Earns Over 10 Times Its Goal in Booming Kickstarter Campaign
@Deadlyblack Yep, the Patapon IP belongs to Sony after Japan Studio was shut down. Hence, they can't use the same name.
Re: Patapon Successor Ratatan Earns Over 10 Times Its Goal in Booming Kickstarter Campaign
@Deadlyblack It's not the fans making it, the developers are the original creators of the game.
Re: Genshin Impact's Gigantic Fontaine Expansion Plunges PS5, PS4 from 16th August
"Of note, HoYoverse is upgrading the experience on PS5, adding in global illumination, motion sensor support, and even faster loading times"
Even faster loading? My character already loads so fast now that I can see it drop on the map when it loads.
Re: Patapon's Spiritual Successor Ratatan Will Release on PS5, PS4 As Crowd Funding Campaign Explodes
I'm so happy and even a little emotional to see so many people still love the series after all this time. T_T
Can't wait to play the game! <3
Re: Tower of Fantasy Debuts PS5, PS4 Exclusive Bonus Items
@Tomato_Goose It has more gameplay compared to Genshin Impact. Also, it's still a mobile gacha game at the end of the day so the game design philosophy is very different from normal console or PC games.
It's still pretty to look at though.
Re: Patapon Spiritual Successor Ratatan Is a Fan's Dream Come True in Debut Trailer
The trailer is so cheerful and catchy that I can't stop smiling.
Re: Poll: Who's the Best Final Fantasy Protagonist?
For me, it used to be Cloud until Clive took over.
Re: Uncharted 2 Director Notes Familiarity of New Mission: Impossible Flick's Train Sequence
@Nepp67 The movie is one of the best action--adventure films nowadays.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Update 1.03 Out Now, Get All the Patch Notes Here
OMG this is the game-saving update that I've been waiting for
Re: Even with Final Fantasy 16, PS5 Can't Outsell Switch in Japan
There are so many families with multiple Switches/Switch Lite but I don't know anyone who's bought 2 PS5 in the same family.
It's not surprising at all.
Re: Microsoft Planned to Conquer Japan with Square Enix Buyout, Eye-Opening Documents Reveal
"Spend Sony out of business".
Jesus, this is competition at its worst. With all the money to invest in building the industry up, THIS is what MS came up?
I really hope acquisition fails.

Damn, this year's GotY will be so interesting.
Re: Preview: Ignore the Snark, Foamstars Is Good
@UltimateOtaku91 Comparing this game to Genshin doesn't make sense. It's the first open-world mobile anime game. It has the First Mover's Advantages.
This game, on the other hand, and in an over-saturated market of live service games nowadays...
Re: Preview: Ignore the Snark, Foamstars Is Good
@PlayStationGamer3919 I agree. I give it a year though just because of the initial attention that it will attract.
Re: PS Plus, Game Pass Subscription Growth Has Totally Stalled in USA
@Cutmastavictory Totally agree. I'm actually going to let my sub run out this time.
It's not because they don't have good games on it but I only have so much time as an adult. After subbing for a year and got to know the game catalogue, it's always better for my time, energy and money to buy the game that I really want to play.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Diablo 4?
@Shstrick Same here.
I'm still on Zelda. I guess I'll only get D4 when its expansion out or it goes on sale.
Re: Poll: Which PS5 Blockbuster Will You Be Playing in June?
Definitely FF16 but probably not in June though. I still can't put down that game and I doubt I could in June... LOL
Re: Sony Significantly Scales Back Development of The Last of Us Multiplayer for PS5, Says Report
@UltimateOtaku91 Anecdotal evidence doesn't counter facts. Just because you didn't spend money, it doesn't mean the system is not predatory.
Re: Sony Significantly Scales Back Development of The Last of Us Multiplayer for PS5, Says Report
@Magnus_Selene Call me cynical, I was wondering when it's Naughty Dog's turn after seeing almost all AAA studios took turns to fall from grace in the past decade. LOL.
Re: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum (PS5) - There's Nothing Precious About This
Wow... I thought it's a 6/10 game. This is unexpected.

@Stocksy You anecdotal experience doesn't discredit fact. In another word, you can pay $0 but its RRP is $70.

@SoulChimera So true. Internet is always about the loud minorities. It's not real life. We've seen this playing out over and over countless times.

Re: The Gorgeous Watercolour Indie Title Dordogne Hits PS5, PS4 Next Month
I love cozy games! This looks like another great one.
Re: Soapbox: PS Plus Might Be Gaming's Best Subscription Service Now
Sony definitely has a better balance on subscription and producing quality titles at the same time. It's not an easy feat.
But average gamers, especially newer ones, will still be drawn to MS' quantity first.
