I mean, most of their previous games all have some form of multiplayer in them. Elden Ring could strictly be classed as PvPvE as this game has been labelled...
I actually think that's the intended design of the traders, you're supposed to send them to the settlement you want to trade with manually.
The screen that is displayed when you select the trader just moves the screen to the relevant town (that you are eligible to trade with) so it's easier for you to then move it there.
That screen will also show you settlements you can't trade with, and the reason why (usually distance or need to improve trade relations with them)
@AndyKazama I think most people who know about this option will be turning this beep off, it's a such a horrible sound. But, luckily for you, you can leave it on.
@AndyKazama I don't think you'd need that with a console to be honest, it'll be very quickly obvious if it's not working. It's just a really annoying sound for a console to make, so I'm glad they're giving you an option to mute it.
@djlard Norse God of War came out a whole 2 years before Valhalla did, so your comment doesn't really make sense. I also don't understand your point about them not fitting, the amount of work that both sets of devs have done on the mythology, isn't deserving of that.
@lolwhatno "As I said, to the other person, this isn't a valid argument because you get the fun out of it, same for going to a movie you are not technically gaining anything, but you're having fun." - People are getting fun out of buying skins etc for their games too. It's not up to you to decide what people think is fun or not.
@lolwhatno Except it's not a straw man, when you keep conflating your opinions as fact. What you suggest as "useless", and assume they're all forgetting about "really quickly", just isn't true for everyone. You're also assuming that everyone is spending thousands on skins, which again, is very unusual.
And I don't think anyone is saying to smokers/gamblers that they're wasting their life. People (who care about them) might warn them of the health implications, etc. I have a lot of friends who have a flutter at the weekend on the football, I wouldn't dream of telling them that they're wasting their life. If I spotted some signs that they were getting into money trouble because of it, I might intervene, but then again, I'd think really hard about it, because I'm not trained to do so, and wouldn't want to risk it.
@lolwhatno Because, ultimately those things (smoking and gambling) come with a legal age limit, and again, it's their choice. The science has proven that smoking is bad, yet people still choose to do it.
Where's the science to show that I was mistaken, or my health is compromised because I bought the Boba Fett skin on Fortnite last month?
"spending thousands of dollars to move pixels on a screen is wrong. And it shouldn't be praised or be thought of as normal." - That is what every gamer in the world is literally doing, they're spending thousands on consoles/PCs and games to move pixels on a screen.
@lolwhatno what makes sense for you, and what makes sense for someone else isn't the same. Spending money on cosmetics is completely justified, because it's their money, and they're entitled to spend it how they like. If someone spends thousands on cosmetics, a lot of people would consider it wasteful, but it's theirs to waste.
@Rob_230 Whilst I agree about patch notes, the problem was that they were getting less and less useful on the PS4 as developers just stopped bothering adding them. You'd quite often see the vague updates such as "stability improvements and bug fixes" or just a new version number.
Patch notes are usually available for top games on their websites/blogs/forums. Once you know where to look, it's easy to get at them again in future.
@kingbreww I'm not a fan of the mtx in this game (or any game for that matter), especially when they become pay to win. However, to expect EA, at any time soon, to voluntarily remove their biggest moneymaker is just not realistic. What is realistic, though, is using those copious funds to put more resources onto things like the gameplay and single player modes that have been long neglected.
The career mode has had a couple of noticeable updates in the past couple of releases (that's FIFA 21 & 22) so things are looking up, at least in that respect.
@Bamila 10 minutes?! You lasted 5 minutes longer than I did. I thought it was such an odd thing for them to do, especially in terms of PES 22 and people getting hyped for the new engine etc. It really brought me crashing back down to earth as I was hoping for a PES renaissance.
@Fenbops My comment was not against having a save feature but I was interested that people who hadn't played the game (not you as I see you've played it) were commentating that it was stopping them buying the game. I just think the lack of save is being blown out of proportion and it's not as important as it sounds. I am time poor; I'd say I'm a half decent gamer and I enjoy challenging games. I don't think a save game being implemented is going to improve your chances. As somebody else mentioned, there's a "getting warmed up" feel to this game so any extended breaks would mean you not doing so well. For me it has a similar difficulty level to Sekiro, if you don't like games of that difficulty then I'd say it's fair enough to skip it but the save game feature isn't a "must have" for this game.
@theheadofabroom as someone who has played the game, I can tell you that this game doesn't need this mode. I'm a father of 2 young boys and my gaming time is severely reduced compared to yesteryear, yet I've still found time to progress in this game. I think there's been a lot of overreaction to the lack of a save and a lot of misunderstanding on its impact to the quality of the game.
@LordSteev I'm with you on this. I don't like the thought of a game that is forcing deadlines upon me and I don't want games to start feeling like a chore. I'm kind of flighty with games and get bored easily so I switch between games a lot so battle pass type mechanics don't work well at all for me.
@Onion I don't think it would be immediately obvious that the game suffers per se, rather that when you have the XP booster that's really how the game should be played. We'd never really know, but what we do know is that having the XP booster would be beneficial for everyone, otherwise nobody would ever buy it.
@Onion I sort of take your point but I do wonder how much of the original game design gets affected when they know things like XP boosters are going to exist in their game. You can imagine decisions being made to purposefully alter progression to entice people into buying it.
I appreciate that it's optional but I also understand that shady practices exist to make that option more enticing.
@themightyant I did think that too but I think voice acting is just something that you'd expect in a AAA game and they probably didn't have the resources when they developed the game initially.
@themightyant I agree with you regarding text size, these devs seem to know what they're doing and it's not as if text size hasn't been an issue with games ported from PC before so I'd be surprised if they haven't rectified it for the console release.
That is a shame, a misstep with the marketing for Immortals and its launch window is a tough one too. I picked it up this weekend on a whim as I had an urge to play Valhalla but I didn't fancy the bugs. I'm glad I picked Immortals as it's a really refreshing direction that Ubisoft has taken with that game.
I'd like to see a Norse sequel for it too, I think they've got a nice formula with this game to make 2-3 other games.
