Re: Sony Suggests MLB Made the Decision to Include MLB The Show 21 on Xbox Game Pass

torne

@RudeAnimat0r exactly this... its bad optics and that's it. Could Sony have said something sooner? Sure

At the end of the day it's a decision made by MLB. Nobody here knows the specifics of the contract between Sony and MLB. Nobody knows what MLB told Sony it wanted in order to renew the contract for the game.

At the end of the day SONY didn't make this decision. MLB is publishing it on xbox. They hold the rights to the game. It's their call.

People getting up in arms over this need to really take stock of their lives. Because this just is not worth the energy that they are putting into it.

Re: Rumour: Konami to Outsource Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania IPs

torne

@Kang81 this is exactly why I don't want from soft touching one of my favorite game series. Let from soft keep going with their own thing and give castlevania to someone who can take it to the next level without causing people to want to biff their controller through a wall.

Re: CD Projekt Committed to 'Many Plans' Once Cyberpunk 2077 Is Sorted Out

torne

Honestly I am so over CDPR at this point. I won't be buying any of their games again. Their "apology" yesterday was laughable at best. If you announce a game before the ps4 launches and then take the entire Gen to develop it, and release it on the ps4 you don't get to say it was developed on "old hardware".

They knew exactly what the hardware entailed. You also don't get to throw your QA team under the bus.

That was the last straw for me. I'm out on CDPR. They have squandered any potential faith I had in them.

Re: Hitman 3 Teases a Dream PSVR Experience with New Trailer

torne

@madcow78 I don't think it's about dropping the ball, I think it's more around thinking of how much more work they would need to put in to create a whole new control scheme for essentially 3 full games.

This is basically just hitman in first person now.

Also you have to imagine that 2 move controllers would be absolute garbage for trying to explore the levels. This is a game that needs true locomotion not just pointing and clicking.

Re: Hitman 3 Teases a Dream PSVR Experience with New Trailer

torne

I was stupid when I got my ps5 and thought "oh there is no reason for me to need a dualshock 4 anymore" so I sold them... completely forgetting about the light bars required for tracking. So currently I can't play games like Astros rescue mission or moss, or even hitman vr when it comes out. I'll need to get a new one soon. This looks too good to pass up.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Day Isn't Going Smoothly for Every PS4 Player

torne

@GKO900 absolutely.

Nintendo, ubisoft, EA, Sony, Activision, and Microsoft would all crucified for this type of release.

Hell halo infinite was just showing gameplay and look what happened there.

The only reason this is any different is because all of the above listed names are big corporations and because CDPR is just an indy developer that self publishes so they clearly aren't out for people money and have everyone's best interest in mind.

Hey remember that time that the CEO of CDPR came out and said "crunch isn't that bad" and immediately needed to issue an apology? They clearly have everyone's best interest in mind...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Day Isn't Going Smoothly for Every PS4 Player

torne

@MisterWhen no it can also actually make the industry better. Everyone keeps saying vote with your wallet. Thats what I am doing. I want to play the game but I am not willing to support these practices.

In my instance the compromise is to vote with my wallet and buy used. Can I afford to buy it? Yes I am sitting on $150 in psn credit at the moment. Will I buy it new? No for the reasons outlined above.

Edit: posted this before I saw your response.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Day Isn't Going Smoothly for Every PS4 Player

torne

@MisterWhen to be clear you are welcome to not like my stance on this.

However that being said i am also entitled to my own opinion and choices.

I do not like how two faces cdpr were regarding crunch culture. The publicly came out and stood against it and then FORMALLY enforced it on their employees. That's strike one

Strike 2 was when the game was deemed ready enough to go gold and then a week later they needed to delay it to prepare for their 43 gb patch. If the game needs to be delayed after going gold then it isn't gold

Strike 3 was their review practices. Telling reviewers and members of the community that they could only use b roll.footage from their trailers and only review on pc is ridiculous. The console versions were hidden until launch. This shows that cdpr knew the game wasn't ready. B roll footage is polished footage from a controlled environment that just wasn't used in a trailer. This is not indicative of being honest.

I buy 98% of my games new. I believe in supporting developers. I have almost 300 digital games across ps4 and ps5 with maybe 20 physical all of which were purchased new. Forgive me if I decide to take a hard stance against a developer who has shown that they are not prepared for this launch and that they don't actually practice what they preach.

TLDR honestly I don't care if my stance is unpopular its my stance and I am allowed to take it.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Day Isn't Going Smoothly for Every PS4 Player

torne

The thing is that if this were ANY other company not named CDPR the backlash would be insane.

This is not a good look at all. CDPR has been talking out of both sides of their mouths with all of the hype up to this game. From crunch culture, to the game "going gold" only to need another 43 gb patch, to the review codes and embargos being insane. I saw a reviewer say that they were not allowed to use their own footage for the review and was required to use CDPR "b-roll" they loved the game apparently but couldn't put out a review because they were prevented from using their own footage.

This is not a good look at all. I WANT the game, and I have a PS5 so I am not worried about the hitches shown here, but given everything that has happened ill wait for a used copy and get the free ps5 upgrade.

I'm not going to actively support cdpr here.

Re: Sony Believes PS5 Game Pricing Is Fair, Denies It Considered Charging More

torne

I mean games have been steadily increasing in cost here in Canada for years. Even before the ps5 gen.

During the ps4 gen games went from 69.99 to 79.99 and similarly in ps3 gen they went from 59.99 to 69.99.

Now we are at 89.99 plus taxes here which takes us over 100 dollars Canadian for a game.

I guess I am just used to the price going up and me being able to buy fewer games each gen.

Re: Devastating Capcom Ransomware Attack Exposes Game Details, Employee Data

torne

@TheIdleCritic 1000% agree.

I made the mistake of posting a playstation themed tattoo to the ps4 subreddit once and was torn to shreds for it. God forbid i be happy with a choice I made...

I am usually very hesitant to call myself a gamer despite the fact that I have been gaming since the NES, because I dont want to be lumped in with the insanely large amount of entitled jerks there are out there these days.

I have a very close circle.of friends, and even some of my family I refuse to speak to because they all exhibit behaviors that are incredibly toxic. I don't have time for it in my life.

Even on push square I don't participate in a whole lot of conversation because I just can't bring myself to deal with the entitlement. I think its because I have gotten older and I have seen the dramatic shift in this social media culture but I just don't have the time or the patience for it anymore.

Re: Devastating Capcom Ransomware Attack Exposes Game Details, Employee Data

torne

@BansheeNorn not sure why you felt the need to come at me... I wasn't saying you can't plan your purchase.

I was saying maybe we shouldn't be happy that peoples personal information is being plastered across the internet.

All these hackers are doing is causing Capcom to now have spend more of their resources on containing the information. Resources that can be spent on other things like you know finishing development on that game you are so clearly excited for.

Trying to justify the fact that people who really have done nothing wrong now have a bunch of their personal data in the hands of someone they didn't approve makes you no better than those that caused the issue in the first place.

How would you like it if all.of a sudden you went to work and got an email that said " hey sorry, someone hacked us and now they know all about where you live, your phone number, and a bunch of other things that can be used against you, such as government identification?

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Has Been in Development for a Year on PS5

torne

@NEStalgia nowhere in my quote did I imply that this was the cap. I simply implied that the free upgrades for existing ps4 games are meant to improve framerates to 60fps and are not the same as a remaster.

Whether you think this remaster is worth it is again your prerogative and you are entitled to buy or not buy it. Claiming this should have been free or not exist at all is nonsense because this is not the same as the free upgrades being provided.

Thats it, thats all there is to it.
