@God_of_Nowt I feel that in my soul. I actually quit most social media recently because I was tired of seeing "my opinion is more valid than yours".
IT IS EXHAUSTING.
Sometimes I wish i could bite my tongue and not engage but I feel this need to educate people when I know they are wrong. I can also sit back and accept when I am wrong without crying foul.
@SirAngry honestly I'm the same way. I dont have time to get so worked up about my hobby.
I pride myself on being able to see things from 2 points of view, but right now I am struggling to see why these people are so upset about this game that they don't need to buy.
Maybe they are worried this might be one of the 1% of games that is not backwards compatible? But if that is the case then they need to ask themselves is sony is really going to make it so that the most popular superhero game ever, and one of their most acclaimed exclusive titles just gets left behind like that? The answer is no... plain and simple.
@God_of_Nowt to me the anger just isn't worth it. If I find value in it ill buy it. I already know I enjoy the game. I already planned on trading my ps4 copy in towards the ultimate edition of miles so to me i am offsetting the cost, and getting a higher quality game that I enjoy, along with a brand new entry in the series.
Everyone getting so worked up about this existing and insomniac daring to charge for it, after people like you who clearly have industry knowledge try to educate them that this is still normal work that gets done and would have existed anyways but is now ready for an actual release as an incentive to those who want to see a great game with more bells and whistles blows my mind.
Not everything is geared towards everyone, and not everyone is going to see value in everything. But the people attacking insomniac and claiming its lazy half asked work and a clear example of how doomed the ps5 is need to chill out.
@God_of_Nowt don't bother trying to convince @NEStalgia of anything. Their comments over the past week on anything spiderman related have been incredible negative. I am not sure if they are just intentionally trolling for the sake of it, or if they are just willfully blind to anyone else's opinion or facts from people within the industry.
Nowhere did I say that this game represents the quality of future remasters or brand new games yet they just latched on to what they wanted and made a blanket statement about the future of the ps5.
@Ha1frican this is one of the points people are missing. Insomniac is not just some small studio. They have multiple teams working on multiple things. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they have a VR game and spiderman 2 in the works as well. Thank you for helping to point this out.
As others who clearly know more about game development than I do have said. This remaster was done originally as proof of concept for the ssd. Instead of shelving it, they put in a years worth of work and added it on to miles morales as an INCENTIVE for people.
The overal gaming population these days is entitled and toxic and think they are owed something when they arent. Honestly its exhausting.
@NEStalgia honestly from your comments there is nothing that can be said or have been done to this remaster for you to be okay with it.
Thats cool and its your prerogative, BUT sitting here saying that Insomniac are being disingenuous and misleading and liars is nonsense. This was never meant to be a standalone release, it was meant to be an entry point for people that didn't play the ps4 version or who want to have it as a ps5 game.
Insomniac doesn't owe anyone anything, let alone giving away work that they have done for free.
You can spin it all you want but the free upgrades for ps4 games are going to be less than what this remaster is. There is a reason you have barely seen any screenshots of the free upgrades, because the main focus of them is pushing 60fps and not really improving anything visually.
To everyone complaining that its not worth 80 dollars/euros etc... boy do I have a surprise for you...
It doesnt cost $80. Here in Canada it costs $24 to get it with the ultimate edition. Base version of Miles Morales is $65. The ultimate edition costs the same as a new Ps5 game at $90.
If you dont think its worth $25 then I cant help you because thats a decision you have to make, but for the love of God stop saying its not worth $80 because nobody is asking you to pay that for this remaster on its own.
If you don't want to pay $80 or whatever it is then you probably already don't want to play MM so you are complaining for no reason.
@MS7000 dlc and micro-transactions are a completey separate argument to be made and i 1000% agree with you there. A line needs to be drawn.
A characters face being changed is the least of my concerns. It has no bearing on me whatsoever. The gaming community is once again making a mountain out of a mole hill and quite frankly should be embarrassed.
The amount of hate being thrown around over this insignificant change is embarrassing.
I am embarrassed to be a gamer today because of the hatred being spewed over this. If this is the worst thing going on in the lives of the people complaining then they have it pretty frigging good.
There are bigger things to worry about. End of story
@MS7000 if you dont think its needed then like it was said before then "dont buy it"
The fact that there are so many people on the internet complaining about something as simple as a face in a video game is embarrassing. If half of the people cared this mush about ACTUAL real world problems the world might be a better place and gamers wouldn't get as much flak as they do for being toxic.
The bottom line is they changed it. It doesn't matter what you think about it because its done. If you don't think the remaster is needed play the ps4 version. Dont like the face play the ps4 version. Dont think the extras are worth it, play the ps4 version.
This is such a minor problem that people are blowing way out of proportion.
@MammothCape35 yea i enjoyed.the story in avengers as well and wouldn't mind replaying it either, BUT and this is a big BUT i do not want to forego the amount of work I have put into leveling my characters in the post game.
Spiderman is a different story and I am fully okay with 100% clearing it again. You are right it did take a while to do, but i thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus apparently its a full remaster as opposed to an upgrade, so I guess its a bit of a different story?
Either way it would be cool if it just all worked.
@BowTiesAreCool yes I am spoiled for wanting to take advantage of a free upgrade that the developers promoted while retaining the work that i already put into the game.
Had I known that it was a possibility that game saves may not work moving forward that would have impacted my purchase decision. I would have waited for the ps5 version instead.
Yes i know the ps5 is backwards compatible. Yes I know avengers will play on my ps5 regardless of if it is a ps4 version or a ps5 version, i know it has also been confirmed that at least avengers will work properly, and finally yes i would like to play the most updated version of the game on my system of choice. If this is confirmed to be a developer by developer decision then this is going to impact what games I buy because I am not going to play a game partway only to have to start over should I choose to upgrade.
How dare me as a consumer be so spoiled to be frustrated at the possibility of some of my save data potentially not working with the upgraded version.
I dont know what it is about this game but it just does not appeal to me at all. I'm sure it will be just fine and people will like it, but it is not even grasping a tiny bit of my attention.

Take off the blinders you might actually find you can enjoy things more...
@EquiinoxGII I am not sure about that. Throughout their show they focused on "launch exclusive" and that was not shown during those trailers to my memory. Plus both bloober team and ESPECIALLY remedy have been multiplat focused. Even if they are launch exclusive then they will still eventually make their way to ps5.
On the off chance that they are full exclusives then they arent enough to get me to buy the series x. I had a 360 for the longest time but when I finally got my hands on playstation exclusives I switched to the ps3. I would LOVE for microsoft to give me a reason to switch back, but they just keep dropping the ball.
Their developers dont have something that sonys first party does. I'm not sure if its creativity, or if its creative freedom, or if it is just experience. But it REALLY showed during the BIG HALO REVEAL that they cant hold a candle to Sony.
Honestly outside of Fable, the medium (multiplat) and the new remedy game (also multiplat) there was nothing there for me.
While the revival of fable is great and the trailer made me chuckle there wasnt enough to justify me getting a series x.
Also interesting that the other day people were bashing spider man mm for having a performance mode at 60fps while also saying xbox was going to run games at 120fps easily. And then Microsoft said halo was 60fps.
This really solidified to me that yes the xbox has more teraflops but in actual terms of power it doesnt separate the two consoles.
@Juanalf the thing is, we don't know what all of its developers are offering. Everyone has different preferences. I myself would prefer higher graphical fidelity and a locked 30fps, than lower graphics at 60.
As far as how does this make its developers look if they don't offer these options?
Well I don't think we have to worry about that. I am sure that the likes of naughty dog, insomniac, sucker punch and guerilla will figure it out and offer something for everyone's tastes. BUT on the off chance that they don't considering Naughty Dog managed to push the ps4 to its absolute limits with TLOU 2 and sucker punch with the equally beautiful Ghost. BOTH of which have virtually no load times at all and still look insane, I'm not sure we have to worry about how their developers will look.
Have some faith dude, not everything being 30fps is doom and gloom. Let the.pros do what they do best.
@Juanalf this is such a typical response from the gaming community these days.
"OMG 30FPS LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE"
The reality is that not every single game needs to run at 60fps or 120fps. Different games can run at different framerates and still be perfectly playable. Half the time unless the game is struggling to hold the framerate you can't see a difference.
Now if games come out and are locked at 30fps to allow for greater graphical fidelity yet are struggling to maintain 30fps then yes there is a point for argument.
Do I expect the ps5 to be pushed to its absolute limits? Absolutely!
Am I excited for the potential of the PS5? Absolutely!
Is framerate the only thing that matters in a game? That's a big fat no!
All of the gaming enthusiasts out there talking about how frame rate and teraflops are the only things that matter are delusioned, and really show that they don't have a full grasp on how games are made.
Microsoft can push for 60 -120 fps all they want, however there is no proof that they can maintain these at a steady state without dips.
@Olmaz I would agree with this. I'll take the prettier 30fps for this over something that feels floaty.
Even TLOU remastered I had a very hard time getting used to the combat at 60fps. Fighting games and First person shooters I can see wanting 60fps for sure.
I love how all of a sudden if a game isn't 60fps minimum then people say that it is unacceptable garbage.
While it's not AS silky smooth 30fps locked is not garbage especially assuming it is going to have higher graphical fidelity and take full advantage of the ps5 hardware.
Ironic that the guy who has made a huge point in multiple press conferences about buying up developers and locking them down to xbox game studios is the one saying this.
I really wish Ubisoft would stop dedicating so much time to people talking. Honestly I appreciate that someone needs to make the game assets and details but I don't need to hear from them. Ubisoft especially comes across one of 2 ways. Either they are way too overhyped and cringey about their games or they are completely devoid of any charisma whatsoever.
If they absolutely need someone to talk then they need to go back to what they did a few years ago at E3 and get someone like Aisha Tyler or someone else be it a comedian or just a recognizable face that actually can speak and make things interesting.
The fact that this is a cross gen title seems to be holding this game back a bit. Nothing about it really screamed "next gen" and honestly it barely even looks current gen.
It's an intriguing title and maybe it was just the way that the trailer was presented that gives me this impression. I'm going to see more of this one before I make a decision.
This seems vague yet ominous. I can't imagine that he would be so abruptly saying that the team members dont need to be associated with his issues if it wasnt serious.
I love how they stealth dropped that Housemarque is part of Playstation Studios without making a giant deal of it like when Microsoft bought a bunch of studios.

@InsertUsername exactly my point. This isn't just a small 10 person indy operation. Their team is large and it is split over multiple projects.
Thats how we have miles, the remaster, and ratchet coming so quickly. With spiderman 2 probably 1-2 years out as well.

There is no gun to your head saying you have to buy this or else. If you want to play the ps4 version boosted on the ps5 that is your call to make.
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Has Been in Development for a Year on PS5
What people are missing here is that the free upgrades that are being provided are not the same as remasters.
The upgrades are using the new hardware to push the frame rate and 4k. A remaster is actually doing work to textures and assets.
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Has Been in Development for a Year on PS5
@NEStalgia I get where you are coming from, but I honestly think you are also greatly underestimating how big insomniac actually is.
Its not unusual for them to have numerous projects on the go as they are a large team.

@Nickolaidas that would be great. Just need them to actually announce that then.

I will buy it to show that there is interest in the IP because remasters/remakes are typically done to guage interest in the IP without spending millions upon millions developing a new game. Otherwise we will be stuck waiting forever, much like we have been with Rayman and Splinter Cell.
Re: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Is Real, Looks Weird
@playstation1995 Fingers crossed. I also saw a brief animation on IGN and that also did not look great.
Re: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Is Real, Looks Weird
While I will definitely buy this game, I hope for 2 things...
1. These pictures are not indicative of final quality
2. This leads to more prince of persia
I really do wish this was a brand new game and not a remake but at this point I'll take what I can get.
Next up gimme splinter cell.

Re: Soapbox: Let's Give Activision a Bit of Credit, Yeah?
@Pat_trick you are so blindly ignorant as to how things work its borderline ridiculous.
The publisher puts up the money for these games. Guess what... toys for Bob is part of the activision group.
Bottom line is these games don't get made without activisions say so end of story.
Re: Soapbox: Let's Give Activision a Bit of Credit, Yeah?
@Pat_trick Nobody denies that Activision has shady practices. All Sammy said was give them credit for pumping out stellar remakes...
You jumped on them for being corporate shills and then people called you out on it... imagine that...
Re: Soapbox: Let's Give Activision a Bit of Credit, Yeah?
@Pat_trick Yes God forbid a website praise multiple remakes that were infinitely better than what was expected.
Everyone expected Activision to stumble on these remakes and the fact of the matter is they didn't.
Typical entitled gamer, gotta hate on everything regardless of the quality.

Even TLOU remastered I had a very hard time getting used to the combat at 60fps. Fighting games and First person shooters I can see wanting 60fps for sure.
Re: Spider-Man Miles Morales Can Run at 4K, 60FPS on PS5 with Optional Performance Mode
I love how all of a sudden if a game isn't 60fps minimum then people say that it is unacceptable garbage.
While it's not AS silky smooth 30fps locked is not garbage especially assuming it is going to have higher graphical fidelity and take full advantage of the ps5 hardware.
Re: Xbox Boss Implies PS5 Exclusives Are 'Counter to What Gaming Is About'
Ironic that the guy who has made a huge point in multiple press conferences about buying up developers and locking them down to xbox game studios is the one saying this.
Re: Talking Point: Did Ubisoft Forward Meet Your Expectations?
I really wish Ubisoft would stop dedicating so much time to people talking. Honestly I appreciate that someone needs to make the game assets and details but I don't need to hear from them. Ubisoft especially comes across one of 2 ways. Either they are way too overhyped and cringey about their games or they are completely devoid of any charisma whatsoever.
If they absolutely need someone to talk then they need to go back to what they did a few years ago at E3 and get someone like Aisha Tyler or someone else be it a comedian or just a recognizable face that actually can speak and make things interesting.
Re: Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood Adds PS5 Version, Coming February 2021
Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Director Steps Down Due to Personal Issues
This seems vague yet ominous. I can't imagine that he would be so abruptly saying that the team members dont need to be associated with his issues if it wasnt serious.
Re: Returnal Is a Brand New Game from Housemarque for PS5
I love how they stealth dropped that Housemarque is part of Playstation Studios without making a giant deal of it like when Microsoft bought a bunch of studios.
Re: Get Hyped with the Launch Trailer for The Last of Us 2
This trailer says everything it needs to about the games tone in the 50 seconds run time. It's perfect.
