Thanks for the analysis. I do wonder about the comparison with exclusive titles though. In those cases Sony is developing or funding a product. In this case Sony is strong-arming a developer into compliance. I think that's a little different. Also (as some people have mentioned above) I think it would be worth mentioning account-locking in the article. That seems to be what is drawing most of the criticism. The cross-play is issue is important - but I think it's a distraction from what Sony being accused of here.
I think it's quite possible that GoW will lose out to Metal Max. But with the Golden Week timing I don't think anything has a chance of touching Labo (unless Nintendo screws up supply - and it usually does). It'll pretty telling if it doesn't do well. I think the Caligula remake next month is gonna be the next 'big' PS4 game.
The numbers don't surprise me; but that the reporting on this seems fairly dodgy. Their methodology seems to be 90 million x $60 + a random amount to make it around 6 billion. It then goes on to portray this as all profit (?). It has other mistakes too (GTA 3 didn't sell 17.5m on the PS2 alone, for example). And please stop calling GTA V the best selling game of all time.
But the question is gonna be if Sony can convert those MH sales into broader sales for the platform. It probably too early to say now; but surprised at how badly Dragon Ball is doing given the huge advertising push here. Nintendo seem to have a totally different strategy - not doing so well month to month but they selling consistently for a longer time.
I haven't seen a Switch here since launch. Hopefully it's not going to be as bad as PSVR, which is near impossible to buy here. (Also, the picture attached to this article is Chinese...)
Not sure what a very large market is ; but I think the 3DS showed that there was still a sustainable market for handhelds. I know the chances are nill, but it'd be neat if Sony wanted to work with Nintendo and push remote play onto the Switch.
Liking it a lot, but not without its flaws. I'm not too bothered by the animations (the Bioware face), and not seen any real bugs. I'm hoping for a Witcher 3 style crafting / interface overhaul though. It feels like a bit like ME1 with a lot of good concepts, but none of them polished enough. I do miss those renegade options though...
Playstation VR pre-orders started last week here, maybe that had some influence on hardware sales? I say started, it was all over in about 3 minutes (and surprisingly it was Amazon who managed to make the biggest mess of things).

Re: Sony Is Creating a New Game Development Team in San Diego
Well I certainly buy more Uncharted games so they have me there. But I'd like to hold out hope that Sony will bring back Infamous.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Assassin's Creed Origins Climbs into Top 5
Do bundles count towards software sales? They did have a Switch-Odyssey bundle for the launch.
Re: Review: Middle-earth: Shadow of War (PS4)
How is the difficulty? Liked the first few hours of the first game, but combat got a little stale and repetitive later in.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ Is Now Available on PS4
Love the game - but the PS4 port for Afterbirth wasn't great and it never got patched. The shop in greed mode would crash it almost every other run.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Suffers Another Sales Dip During Post-Holiday Period
Everything's gearing up for Dragon Quest XI next month, so if anything is gonna shift hardware that should.

Re: Talking Point: What August PlayStation Plus Games Do You Want?
Evil Within maybe? Was up in Japan this month.
Re: Review: Resident Evil 5 (PS4)
@NomNom I always had a secret crush on Wesker. That's probably more creepy!
