Nice that we are getting this, I love a good mecha game. Chromehounds was one of my favourite games on the xbox360, way ahead of its time and we never got a sequel, FromSoftware must be busy with other things I guess...
Played it, hated it. It's cut and paste CoD, I don't know why I expected the WWII setting to see the series step out of its beige comfort zone. The story trailer was painful, absolutely nothing we haven't seen done to death before and everything felt so last gen. Gonna pass this.
Personally I wasn't sold on the Fortnite graphical style or the painful hipster gen-z characters but I'm willing to give it a chance. If this was a 'new' game there wouldn't be half the blowback, by slapping the Saints Row brand on it gamers rightly or wrongly have an expectation that the trailer obviously didn't meet for many.
The game was great but take off the rose tinted glasses. I tried playing it recently after digging out my PS2 to introduce my son to some classics and its aged poorly. I was actually shocked at how bad it played but by far the biggest problem for me was the story and how out of date, trope laden and basic it is. I kind of wish I'd left my memories of the game intact.
The series doesn't really need to reinvent the wheel. I had more fun with DQ11 than any FF since X. Sylvando is one of the best written and voice acted RPG characters of all time.
The only game breaking bug I encountered in the demo was the bot teammate refusing to leave the minigun alone and get into the safe house. It was fun but it had obvious issues.
It's an absolute joke that routinely gets a free pass for blackfishing because "she's Italian". Ten years ago she was white, now she performs alongside Nikki Minaj and is visibly darker than a black woman. It's not just the skin colour either, its her style, that she now speaks with a "blaccent" and uses "hood" imagery for her lyricism.
@Milktastrophe Dunno what you're talking about! Two banners a month carry previous 5* characters and there isn't any story content that can't be beaten with 4* characters. The gap between them isnt exactly a gulf either.
@SilentS the initial load is maybe 10 seconds max, after that it's near instant
I'm playing it at the moment, it's a flawed gem. The modest budget means all areas basically look the same, including internal mansion layouts, and the combat isn't particularly deep, you'll be fighting the same half a dozen enemies the entire game but the role playing is great. How all the quests interlock and affect each other is something AAA RPGs could learn from, the Age of Sail setting hasn't been done to death and plot/characters are compelling enough to keep you pushing forward. One tip to immediately improve the game is too lower the camera stick sensitivity.
Once they "click" for you From Software games are not especially difficult, the problem is the time it requires to get to that point. At this stage in my life I've got work and kids, I'm not going to spend my limited gaming time banging my head against the wall until I "git gud". Not adding a difficulty option plays well with the established fanbase, Dark souls was designed for a small group of specific players and it blew up along with a toxic false sense of superiority, but Elden Ring is AAA mass market game and it needs to reflect that in its accessibility.
Straight up garbage, considering some of the franchises they are sitting on this was bordering on an insult and they seem hell bent on driving the FF series into the ground.
A word of warning to anyone who can suffer motion sickness The Witness is one of the worst titles for triggering it. The anti-sickness patch didn't really help either.
The game was good but not great, too much open world box ticking bogged it down. Players can easily get bored while taking a break from the plot and drift off. Low completion rates are always championed as the death of SP and justification for moving towards games-as-a-service and MP focus but there's obviously more to it than that.
I've put in 80 hours on the PS5 after 1.1 with maybe a dozen hard crashes, a few minor glitches and no bugged quests. The game is great. It's no where near the hot mess many would have you think.
Timing is everything, this would be DOA. The f2p/games as a service space has more than reached saturation point plus Governments are starting to wise up and bring the ban hammer down on loot boxes.
I've put 45 hours into it on the PS5 and have had relatively few issues. The most annoying glitch is subtitles get stuck on screen even when they are disabled, easily fixed by toggling on/off again in options. Easily one of the most immersive games I've played in recent years.
I know online MP is where it's at but I wish fighters would still cater to SP outside of a hollow arcade modes. Mortal Kombat is the only one left who remembers not all players want to get battered online.
Less click bait articles. We all know that cyberpunk was a train wreck at launch, we all know that a small but vocal section of gamers hated the TLoU2, we didn't need dozens of articles to tell us so.
Got the left stick drifting up, its most noticeable on cyberpunk so i thought it was the games issue but since then I've noticed it drifting in other games
@BowTiesAreCool I had that problem as well, It's bigger than the ps4 pad so I think it was just the muscles in my hands getting 'used' to it. I've not been noticing it so much recently though.
The delay probably has more to do with Blizzard losing most of its long term key staff over the last 2 years and the what's left allegedly being underpaid to the point where they can't afford to start families.
@Onigumo it's been a learning curve but not too bad, I handle the combat and traversing the map and swap out to let him mine materials. We both decide what we want our buildings to look like and I usually build them for speed but he's starting to pick it up. We named the dog you get a few hours in after him and he gets super excited whenever the dog starts barking to lead you to buried seeds.
@Nem At least God of War could tell a story! My main point was that I don't trust SE to be able to tell an adult story with any kind of nuance or depth.
Since X the FF series has struggled to tell a coherent story and I have zero expectation that XVI will buck the trend. It'll be another hot mess of underbaked ideas, baffling character development and plot holes you could drive a truck through. My biggest fear is that the devs mistake 'mature' for an edgelord MC dropping f bombs and dripping in the blood of his enemies.

PS4 Genshin and the Banner saga trilogy (sat in the backlog for years!) as my PS5 controller has been sent away for stick drift repairs.

Re: Looks Like Lost Judgment's Getting a Demo
Judgement was the main reason I went for the ps now for £1 a month deal. It's not that much different from Yakuza but that's not a bad thing!
