Re: 'Financial Viability Is a Big Deal': Emulation Studio on Why More Retro Games Aren't Coming to PS Plus Premium

Alexface

I accidentally let my premium expire when Gamepass put their pricing up.
I realised I wasn't using either of them enough (maybe a bit of cloud gaming on Gamepass), so I actually just dropped back to essential and no Gamepass.
I decided that if I want to play a game - I'll buy it and support the developer.
That especially included retro releases. I want games to be more accessible so I need to put my money where my mouth is!

Re: 'There's No Real Need for a PS6': Industry Veteran Weighs in on Next-Gen Debate

Alexface

I'm just not ready for this and I don't think I will be in 2-3 years. I still love my PS5 and series X and I think they have a lot of life left in them.
I bought a switch 2 because I felt like it really needed an upgrade and was being help back (plus my original was creaking a lot).

I get Microsoft want to get a headstart, but I think it will be too soon

Re: Reaction: Sony's PS5 Games Keep Getting Better After Launch, and Often for Free

Alexface

So I kind of like the idea that they continue to look and iterate.
But I also don't like the live games idea because I like to go into a game knowing it's "complete" and I have all the content.
Valhalla worked for me because it was self contained, but I did need to remind myself how to play the game!
Where is struggle more is the Ubisoft style where they drip feed new mission/story etc.
On the other hand, games that are multiplayer, or very easy to drop in and out of (like astro bot) it works. I'm still annoyed Nintendo doesn't give post launch content for mario Party - that's where adding new maps/games would be amazing

Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release

Alexface

For now i dont need remakes - just give me the ability to play the series on modern consoles then think about remakes. I think porting the DS 4-7 games would suffice.
Only outlier here is 8 probably wants a bit of a HD lick of paint with a little more love. But remaster rather than remake is enough!

Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

Alexface

For me Beat Saber is one of the few games I can enjoy because I get motion sickness.
I also love it and think it's one of the best games ever.

So for me - this is a sign that my time with PSVR2 is coming to an end. I love love love that game, but am I better off selling the PSVR2 and getting an oculus instead just for beat Saber?

Re: Poll: Do You Care About the Death of PlayStation Stars?

Alexface

This happens every few years. I'll miss the ability to get free funds to pay for future purchases. Makes up (a little) for paying more for digital purchases.

I get they need to relook at the whole thing as it was built around digital collectibles, and after the NFT backlash and downfall, it's clear people don't care that much

Re: Talking Point: Has the Market for AA Games on PS5 Really Disappeared?

Alexface

I think Indië and AA games have a different feel. Indie games are more like A or B level .

That said I do make a point of buying AA games at full price if they get reasonable reviews and i want to support the developer. I did that with Banishers (its amazing) and Outcast: new beginnings (not played yet).
I don't tend to buy AAA games at release because I expect/hope they get wider support from the community

Re: 2023's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Outsold Ubisoft's Outlaws in 2024

Alexface

It's interesting I don't see many people talking about pricing.
I saw the reviews and thought I'd wait. I have since heard they have improved the game massively so I thought I would support it next time it's on sale. But then it goes on sale and it's still really pricey to buy including the season pass - which would be the "complete" edition.
I think their pricing model needs an overhaul too, it's too much to ask consumers to spend over €100 on a game that gets "average" reviews. It's a lot for any game!

Re: Capcom Making Resident Evil 0, Code Veronica Remakes Next, Reports Say

Alexface

This is definitely the right answer.
They should focus on updating the ones stuck with the old style gameplay first - code Veronica, then zero then one.
After that consider going back to 5 and 6, but it's probably better to just leave them in the past (even though I love 5)

Would love to see Dino crisis after all this though

Re: Rumour: Persona 3 Reload Lines Up The Answer as DLC

Alexface

I dont mind this.
Its significantly better than releasing another version (like FES, Golden (ish) or Royal) 1-2 years later and asking players to buy and complete the whole game again. Granted the additions in Golden and Royal were spread throughout the game, but this would be a step forward for Atlus

Re: Poll: Is 'Live Service' Becoming an Excuse to Release Unfinished Games?

Alexface

Surprised to hear words like "unfinished" when talking about a game that scored between 86 and 91 on metacritic (depending on console).
Did the reviewers get it wrong? Or are players expecting too much from Diablo in particular?

In answer to the question - I don't think games are launched "unfinished". There are some obvious ones from the past, like FF15 that were definitely not complete, but on the whole I think most games do give you a full experience. I personally don't play a game until all the content/dlc has released - so having limited time content for "live" games just doesn't work for me- I actively avoid them to be honest

Re: SEGA Plotting More Sonic the Hedgehog Reboots and Remakes on PS5, PS4

Alexface

For me ports/remakes of the sonic gaps before 360 era:
Spinball added to origins as dlc
Advance collection (including battle)
Rush collection
Adventure 1,2 and Heroes. Maybe throw in riders for good luck.

Then I'd love to continue with the Panzer Dragoon love, especially Saga.
Skies of Arcadia
Jet Set Radio
Shining force rereleases/remakes. Port the GBA one maybe, do something with 2 and 3 and then Shining the Holy Ark while they are at it

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 483

Alexface

@ThorsHammer for me actually Peace Walker was my favourite. I really liked the evolution from 3 and the simplicity compared to 5. 5 felt like an open world building on peace walker.
Honestly I've been pretty amazed at how well the entire metal gear series holds up, even the originals
I also found Policenauts very fun, but it's very much a visual novel.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 483

Alexface

@ThorsHammer it's already starting to click a bit. I stole a car from some enemies and it's made it much more enjoyable 😅
Snatcher and Policenauts are retro/emulation only still. I wouldn't expect that to change. I played it on polymega - I was one of the lucky ones to get one.
It's been an interesting journey, his game largely still hold up quite well

Re: Feature: PSVR2 Three Months Later - The Good, The Bad, and The Worrying

Alexface

So I was a first time VR buyer with the PSVR2 and was horrified to find I got motion sick super bad.

So I had a plan of having a regular stream of games to play in small doses to get used to it.
But I am really struggling with the outlook. I played horizon and Moss book 1. I will definitely get book 2 and beat sabre but not much else interests me, and if it does I definitely worry about the motion sickness!

Kinda wondering if it was a waste of my money...
