Re: Guide: The Best PS4 Fighting Games

"What's you're favorite fighting game on PS4?"
::lists Xenoverse2 and FighterZ::

Don't make me choose!! I love them both for how easily they are to understand yet hard to master.

2018 is my year of getting back into the fighting game genre, does anyone recommend other less technical ones?

Re: Death Stranding Is Mind Blowing, Says Star Norman Reedus

"And so many parts of millennial culture, I guess, is being alone in a room. And you lose physical contact with people."
So play this game...alone in a room...while losing physical contact with people

Reedus likes to say everything is mind-blowing, he's one of those dudes who uses the word "epic" so much it loses meaning. At least we gleaned a bit of info about the games' setting.

Re: Talking Point: Could Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass Model Work on PS4?

Berto_Gamut

Love the idea and am already putting my free trial to use. People are acting like it'll only get three titles, but the library is pretty sweet right now. I think it's a smart way of subverting used sales while also providing a big convenience for gamers.

If they get 3rd parties to join in with new games, it'll be ridiculous.

Re: 'People Ask for Story-Based Games, But Don't Necessarily Buy Them'

Multiplayer/microtransaction games are always going to make more money than singleplayer games, especially with the whole "graphics-first, gameplay-second" movement. Thing is, the market will eventually become smaller and all of the EA's or Ubisoft's will have less customers to market to. With rising 4K/mo-cap costs, good luck Ms. Hennig.

As it stands, they're already tearing their hair out trying to copy Overwatch and PUBG.

Re: Hands On: Monster Hunter: World Is Shaping Up to Be Something Very, Very Special on PS4

Berto_Gamut

Great write-up. I really enjoyed my time with the beta (still am) but still taking a "wait and see" approach on release week.

The beta had an always-online connection for singleplayer, hoping that isn't in the official release because I usually take my time with SP quests so I wouldnt be able to suspend the game.

Besides that, what was considered "expert" felt really easy. Maybe it's just "veteran player" talk but I was mopping up Rathalos and all the other monsters in no time.

Overall, really awesome translation to a PS4 game. Having MH in this quality is a dream come true. Capcom is getting dangerously close to "I like their games again!"

Re: Reaction: Sony Must Pick Between PSX or Paris Games Week

Berto_Gamut

I think they need both, which is why we got a much more panel-focused PSX than before. Gamers just shouldn't expect a barrage of announcements every time a developer sneezes.

Sony will have the hardest time because they like to make sure the PS brand gets attention in all their major markets. They need to hype up gamers worldwide.

Re: It Never Ends, Final Fantasy XV Getting 'At Least' 3 More DLC Story Episodes in 2018

Berto_Gamut

Well it's good that fans will get more story to chew through.

On the other hand, it's lame that this will likely be a separate season pass when the first one stumbled so much. Season pass2 could easily get more meaningful story DLC, while the rest of us are stuck with the lackluster character arcs from season pass1.

Was hoping they were done so I could finally play the complete experience, but I guess not

Re: EA: Battlefront 2 Scandal a Great Learning Experience, Not Giving Up on Microtransactions

Berto_Gamut

If they were listening to consumers, this would've had a reasonably priced season pass with meaningful DLC for both story and multiplayer. People hate season passes, but not when they have something meaningful to tell or play.

EA has their "ear to the consumer at all times" so they could find ways to loophole crowds into a sales funnel. That's why they need big names like NBA/NFL/FIFA/Disney completely controlling their development slate while Mass Effect and everything else slowly withers away.

Re: Analyst: Gamers Are Overreacting Over Star Wars, Publishers Should Increase Prices

Berto_Gamut

It's a complicated situation that analysts have been mentioning for years now. Because of the rising costs of production, it's only a matter of time before gaming companies need to place their new products under tiers or raise the cost of everything across the board.

Mo-cap, advertising, the 4K boom, virtual reality.....all these things are extremely expensive. You need a big studio, all the tech costs an arm and a leg (even if renting), and cheap actors can ruin every cutscene you make.

What I won't agree with, is gamers overreacting to lootboxes. It clearly shows people how anti-consumer a videogame can get.
