@clvr We're letters here too, like in the U.S., only we also have A*s, which is an entire grade above an A, so here it would go A-, A, A+, A*-, A*. I'm not sure if any of this actually matters to you, but hey, it can't hurt to know these things!
If I were to grade the conferences (including Nintendo but not Microsoft cause I didn't watch it), it would be: EA - E - Basically nothing I cared about Bethesda - D - I never had a PS3 or Xbox, so I'm happy they're remastering skyrim, but the rest was awful Ubisoft - C- - There was nothing I really wanted to buy, but it interested me a lot more than the other two, mainly due to Aisha Taylor Sony - A* - Perfect really Nintendo - B- - I'm a bit biased, cause I love Zelda, but they clearly went quality over quantity, and whilst that nowhere near reaches Sony's standards of quality and quantity, they showed off Zelda brilliantly without spoiling a thing. It looks amazing, and kept me engaged for a long time.
@Swiket The treehouse will focus on Zelda though, which we know next to nothing about, so if Zelda impressed enough, then it will at least be better than EA's, Bethesda's and Uni's conference IMO in that it actually will make me want to buy a new game. Still, it is Nintendo, so some other disaster is bound to happen
Again, there was just nothing special. At all. Tbh, as someone who's never owned a playstation or xbox until I got the PS4 last year, the best game so far has been Skyrim Special Edition. Yep. A remaster is my favourite game so far. At this rate, nintendo will have the best conference by a mile.
Well...at least the music was brilliant the problem is, a fight against a huge epic golem was awesome music in the background should theoretically be absolutely phenomenal, but it just looks really awkward and frustrating. I so badly just want to watch and think "Wow, this looks great", but everything from the framerate, awkward camera and bare-bones control system makes me really concerned
@AlexStinton How long is the game roughly? Since it's open world, I guess it could be as long or short as you want it to be, but I'm just wondering how long your play through was. I'm quite interested in the game, having never played the original mirror's edge, and the fast gameplay of this looks really fun, but if the game last for too long then I doubt I'll buy it.
I embarrassingly still need to finish the main story, I got a bit stuck deciding which faction to go for and then haven't really played it since, but I might go back on and finish it with the railroad. I doubt I'll buy this though, after the mess Bethesda has made of it I'm completely put off buying it
@get2sammyb Good, I'm happy about that. Bethesda really need to learn that they can't just release unfinished things and then patch them at a later date to make things better. That's why I'm never too disappointed when there's a delay in a game.
@rjejr But a day one patch ruins people's perception of a game almost immediately. For instance, if you go back about a week on the push square to find the article on homefront's day one patch, no one in the comment section is happy about it at all, and quite rightfully too.
Also, games such as Assassin's Creed: Unity had tons of bugs and glitches when it was launched, and whilst they were all patched and sorted a couple of months after release, Unity's name was scarred, and it really damaged the reputation of the franchise as a whole.
Developers want to avoid having to release these patches as much as they can, since whilst they may all fix everything in the end, it gives the impression that the game wasn't ready when it was released, which immediately puts the game in a negative light. Hello games are just trying to avoid this, and I commend them for that.
It's just...ok, I guess? I mean, with Kojima drawing all the hype he possibly could out of the logo, I was expecting slightly more, but let's just see where it goes from here
@JaxonH Yeah, I can understand that with regards to losing characters, I try to save them all if I can, which means I normally spend quite a long time on just one map
I was actually thinking about not buying Conquest on account of the difficulty, but I think you've persuaded me to give it a go
I'm probably still going to work my way through Birthright first, but after that I'll go straight onto Conquest!
@JaxonH I'm really enjoying Sacred Stones atm, and I'm planning to buy Fates here when it FINALLY comes out in the UK (only 6 days!). I am terrified to play Conquest though, having never played any other Fire Emblem apart from Awakening and Sacred Stones, I think it's going to absolutely wreck me.
The Ace Attorney trilogy is probably my favourite set of games ever though, so I'm glad you're enjoying it. The common consensus is that the best game is the third one, it's absolutely brilliant, but you're in for a treat with all of the cases
@JaxonH Good choice with the ace attorney trilogy have you ever played the games before? I'm holding off on uncharted 4 for the moment, saving it for when all of my exams are out of the way, so I'm just going to play Shovel Knight and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones this weekend
Great article, and a really interesting view. Quite a few people pan episodic release dates, so it's quite nice to read an article arguing for them. I actually agree with everything in this article, and am completely for episodic releases, under the condition that the release date of each episode is not too far apart. I generally think that a month between each episode is a good length, two months maximum, otherwise I think it gets a bit ridiculous. Telltale games released their game of thrones episodes at seemingly random times, with no structure or organisation at all. I would quite like it if the developer could just vaguely lay out the release date of each episode, just to prevent people anxiously waiting for episodes with no confirmation about when they are going to come out. However, if episodic releases are done like this (like Hitman seems to be) then they can really be used to their full potential, and I have no problem with them at all.
This preview actually is making me reconsider my stance on VR. I was very worried that it would simply be just "the experience of VR" that was the only reason why you would get it, and to me, while it sounds cool, it doesn't really justify 300 quid. But if this game really puts a focus on narrative as well? Then I'm actually quite excited. If more VR games take this approach, and turn out to be good, I think I may have to buy a PS VR.

@Neolit That's what I heard as well, and thank god if it's true, it's needed an upgrade for so many years now

Just wondering, will you be reviewing Far Harbour for a second time once the patch is out, or will you keep the review with the 4/10 score?

Hmm, I've never played any of these games, but they seem to be getting very good reviews. I might give them a go soon...after uncharted 4 of course
