Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 384

BranJ0

Started playing Bloodborne a couple of weeks ago and I just can't get enough of this game, it's fantastic. I've unfortunately got exams very close though, meaning I can play it on the occasional evening, but not for very long. Looking forward to August when I can spend all day playing this masterpiece!

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Expect from E3 2021 Next Week?

BranJ0

I'm surprisingly excited, although that's mainly for Nintendo's show, which I feel has a lot of potential to be excellent. No expectations for the other shows, but I enjoy this period of a ton of gaming news all squashed into a week and I'm glad it's back again this year!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 374

BranJ0

@kyleforrester87 Very interesting, thanks for your response! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts once you've finished the game, because if it's anything like Automata then it sounds like the game only fully reveals itself after multiple playthroughs.

Think it might be worth buying when it's on sale - I've got enough games to keep me busy for the time being!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 369

I'm fully addicted to Hades since buying it over a week ago! I just finished a run where I got to the final boss for the first time, and I died fairly close to beating them. Cannot wait to play more, it's an amazing game that feels beautiful to play, and nails everything it's trying to do. One of the best games I've played in ages!

Re: Excellent Roguelike Dead Cells Tops Five Million Sales

BranJ0

Such a good game. The first rogue-like I've ever played and it's phenomenal. I'm still only on BC1 and don't ever anticipate I'm going to beat this game perfectly, but it just feels so good to play, and I always keep coming back to it.

I also just bought Hades a couple of days ago to try out another rogue-like game, and that is also excellent from what I've played so far! Strong recommendation for them both!

Re: Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4

BranJ0

@Rob_230 Oh I didn't realise he alluded to them having anything in the works, that's promising! And absolutely, I like Sony's first party games to much to ever switch to Microsoft, but I've been generally happy about the recent success of gamepass as it means Sony will have to step up their game to keep up!

Re: PS Store Prequels & Sequels Sale Has Few Noteworthy PS4 Deals

BranJ0

@AdamNovice Agreed, I played them on my 3DS and can't really imagine them working as well on a TV - I'd recommend people get it on their switch over a playstation. That said, with lockdown still continuing for a couple of months, I guess it doesn't really matter if it's handheld or not!

Re: PS Store Prequels & Sequels Sale Has Few Noteworthy PS4 Deals

BranJ0

@OrigamiCrane Apollo Justice is my least favourite game in the main series, all of the cases except the first one are pretty weak, which then makes the game feel even worse because every subsequent case is a step down from your opening hours of the game.

Dual Destinies is a big step up, it's definitely got some problems holding it back from reaching the top heights of the series, but it's really enjoyable - I'd say it was on par with the first game

Spirit of Justice is absolutely phenomenal, and is only just edged out by Trials and Tribulations as my favourite game in the series.

So overall, I'd recommend you play the games after Apollo Justice, you've got a lot of great ace attorney there!

Re: PS Store Prequels & Sequels Sale Has Few Noteworthy PS4 Deals

BranJ0

@Quintumply As you might be able to tell from my profile picture, I would strongly recommend it! All three games are wonderful, with the second being the weakest overall but makes up for it by having its final case being the best one in the series. The games are also best played in order, so this trilogy is a great place to start!

Re: Looks Like Indie Hit Katana ZERO Will Launch on PS4

BranJ0

This is a really great game. It's very short, played it all in one day (albeit a VERY relaxed day), but the gameplay is incredibly satisfying, it's got a really interesting story, and I still occasionally listen to the music on Spotify. Worth getting!

Re: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Is Quite the Upgrade in Shepard Comparison Shots

BranJ0

@Hypnotoad107 @NudieBarVIP @Bagwag82 @RPE83 @MemSec @EquiinoxGII @ShogunRok Okay the outstanding number of people who are telling me to get it have swayed me! I'm not going to get it straight away, but I'll add this to my list, and in the near future I'll give these games a go. It doesn't sound like the ending of 3 ruins everything by any means at all, in which case I think it's worth trying these games out and seeing what all the fuss is about!

Re: Mass Effect Legendary Edition Is Quite the Upgrade in Shepard Comparison Shots

BranJ0

I'm still quite torn on this. I've never played any of them, and I've heard 2 is meant to be phenomenal. That said, I really don't want to get invested in a story that is known for having a poor ending in mass effect 3. It's like how I struggle to recommend game of thrones to anyone now, because despite how excellent the first 2/3rds are, I don't want someone to get invested in a story that ends poorly. Advice on this would be appreciated though!

Re: UK Schools Suggesting PS4 for Home Learning During Lockdown

BranJ0

@nessisonett Whilst I do agree with you, the current situation in hospitals is just too bad to let schools continue, especially with the increased infectivity of the new variant in children as well. Let's just hope that schools are the very first thing to open when cases start reducing again, so that the time children spend away from schools is as limited as possible

Re: Game of the Year: John's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2020

BranJ0

Interesting about the final 10 hours of Royal. I haven't played it at all, but I already found the original game's ending to be a bit too protracted, so this was expected for me, but still a shame! Out of interest, what parts of Royal did you find objectively better?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 353

BranJ0

Nearly finished with Sekiro! I beat the Divine Dragon this morning, which was just jaw-droppingly awesome. A few days ago I beat Owl (Father) in Hirata Estate and that was one of the most satisfying video game encounters I've ever played. This game is fantastic, and I don't want it to end!

Re: PS5 Is UK's Best-Selling Console in November 2020

BranJ0

Seems like it's sold a lot more than the Xbox! I wonder how much Microsoft will care though, since they're more focused on selling the Xbox as a service now instead, this may have been around their expectations. Overall, very interesting, and I wonder how the figures will change from here on out.

Re: Talking Point: Was 2020 PlayStation's Best Ever Year?

BranJ0

2018 was probably the best year for Playstation, but I think 2017 was the best year for gaming. It had two of my favourite PS4 games in Nier: Automata and Persona 5, it had great Nintendo games in Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey, and great indie games in Celeste, Hollow Knight, Dead Cells and the Messenger. I also have a soft spot for Resident Evil 7, having played it on PSVR this year and adoring it, and I'm sure there are more games I'm missing as well! Definitely the best year in recent memory imo

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 351

BranJ0

I'm still on my PS5, and am what I assume is just over halfway playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I'm really loving it, and the satisfaction when I beat the Guardian Ape was second to none, although the lack of enemy and environment variety is getting a bit grating now. Maybe it's a bit too long? Regardless, I'm still really enjoying it, and can't wait to die many many many more times this weekend!
