Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 147

BranJ0

@RedMageLanakyn Ah yes, that was a couple of months ago, when the Nintendo community had the excitement of other people actually joining in on the fad of pokemon go for a couple of weeks, so Nintendo Life got VERY carried away with that. Coupled in with the fact that, also around that time, people were starting to get unbelievably desperate for switch news, and rumours were all we had, and it meant the site did go into a pretty useless month or so. Generally though, it's a really nice website, with lots of regular articles and discussion, even if there isn't much to discuss and, for the most part, I find the community to be just as nice as here. If you enjoy Nintendo stuff, then I'd recommend you keep on checking it out, it's very good at what it does

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 147

BranJ0

@RedMageLanakyn To be honest, I find Nintendo Life does a lot more than Push Square in terms of articles. I understand that some of it is useless rumours, but the majority of it is a lot of good news, and they post quite a few decent features and discussions that I would like to see a bit more of on Push Square. I won't argue that there are some fiercely loyal commenters though. In one article which just said "happy birthday Xbox" it was amassed with people saying "Xbox is rubbish, why are you saying that?". There are a lot of occasions they just need to calm down!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 143

BranJ0

I'm gonna continue playing Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. I haven't played many fire emblem games, so I'm playing this on normal difficulty, but I refuse to play on anything other than classic. It probably sounds stupid, but I love the extra dimension of strategy it adds. I'm up to chapter 13 now, and loving every bit of it, far better than Birthright (which I still really enjoyed), and the map design and varied objectives are just incredible

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 141

BranJ0

I haven't actually started it yet, but when I get the chance, I'm gonna take the plunge and try Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. I've only played three fire emblem games before, and they're apparently the easiest ones, so I'm not sure how I'm going to fare, but it looks like a really good game, so I can't resist at least giving it a go

Re: Site News: Let's Talk About Review Code and Push Square's Review Policy

BranJ0

I don't comment too much here, but I just wanted to say that I love this website, and NintendoLife, for precisely this kind of reason. You are by far the best gaming website I have ever come across, I use to go to multiple to try and get any kind of news, but since I found this place, it's the only gaming website I go on with NintendoLife. The whole community, staff and commenters, are all really nice, you provide lots of news from all sorts of games, indie and AAA, and this kind of integrity is just the icing on the cake. Keep up the brilliant work

Re: UK Retailer GAME Wants to Charge You to Demo PlayStation VR

BranJ0

@Quintumply The problem is, I think many people, myself included, would fairly happily pay a fiver or so for a demo just so they can experience it. Every single review or mention of the PSVR, or any other VR, says "you need to see it to believe it", and I can't justify spending 400+ pounds on the headset, controllers and camera based just off that. I need to try it, and since I missed Sony's "Experience PSVR" event, this sounds like the next best thing. Compared to 400 quid, 5 pounds is nothing

Re: Talking Point: What's Your PlayStation VR Launch Experience Been Like?

BranJ0

@dryrain Those are both my reasons for not getting it at the moment as well! For me, the price is too high for a system with games that aren't anything amazing, and all rely upon "you need to see it to believe it". I haven't had a single opportunity to try out the device, and yet the only positive factor about the launch games are that the are great experiences, since they are mainly glorified tech demos. There's no game that I know for sure I'm going to enjoy, and therefore I can't justify paying the asking price as it stands

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 138

BranJ0

@ztpayne7 Ah, you've still got the ending to go, that was my favourite bit of the game! Yeah, they really didn't hold back with extra content! They've also released a challenge mode for each character (and the ones they're adding on), a battle royale mode for consoles (you can play as any one the knights and fight other players) and a gender swap mode (basically just for fun, you can change the gender of any character in the game). You'll have a lot to keep you occupied with!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 138

BranJ0

@ztpayne7 Good choice! Are you still on your first play through? Because in case you're worried content wise, there's a new game + (which changes quite a bit, it becomes a lot harder) and then they've released a plague knight campaign, and are releasing a spectre knight and king knight campaign, all for free! And the plague knight campaign at least was, in my opinion, even better than the main game, due to how the story wove into the main shovel knight story. So basically, it's a game that keeps on giving!

I finished ace attorney spirit of justice last weekend, having thoroughly enjoyed it, and is now my favourite ace attorney game of all time. However, I'm now at a loss for games to play. I might continue my new game + on arkham knight, but apart from that, not much really

Re: Review: Destiny: Rise of Iron (PS4)

BranJ0

@Fall1313 I only actually moved to PlayStation very recently as well! I'm still mainly a Nintendo famer, especially handheld wise, but the Wii U had too few games for my liking, and so I invested in a PS4! If I could, I would really recommend you play the last of us remastered. There's a reason many people consider it one of the best games ever, and you really owe it to yourself to play it!

Re: TGS 2016: NieR: Automata Has an 'Auto Mode' that Fights Enemies For You

BranJ0

@kupo I actually completely agree with you in how I like to play games. There's nothing better than persevering at a particularly difficult boss or something until you manage to complete it. That's exactly what I look for in a lot of games. I think the only thing I was saying was that this doesn't apply to everyone, so there are lots of people who don't look for that in a game, but still like the look of this and want to play it for other reasons e.g. the RPG elements. If it's never forced upon you, accessibility is never a bad thing

Re: TGS 2016: NieR: Automata Has an 'Auto Mode' that Fights Enemies For You

BranJ0

@kupo @banacheck But some people really enjoy the game but find the combat system too challenging for whatever reason. This doesn't completely take away the entire point of the game since, as the article says, there are still plenty of RPG elements and other things for the player to do and think about. What is the point in complaining about this feature? No one is forcing you to use it, and it just makes the game more accessible to more people, so that they can enjoy it more. Criticising a game because it has options to make certain aspects easier just sounds elitist, as if, because they couldn't cope with a certain mechanism of the game (for any manner of reason) then they shouldn't be allowed the fun of playing it at all. I'm sorry if that's not how you meant to come across at all, in which case this was all for nothing, but it seems like a pointless thing to complain about when the joy of the game could be spread to more people without impacting on your own.

Re: Review: Fallout 4: Nuka World (PS4)

BranJ0

@ShogunRok Ah that's fair enough, the PlayStation meeting must have been a ton of work! I'm glad to hear the DLC provides plenty of entertainment though, you get quite a lot of time out for its relatively cheap price!

Re: Review: Fallout 4: Nuka World (PS4)

BranJ0

Well this was a long time coming! Still, it's here now, and I much prefer it that you didn't rush it and gave it a full detailed play through before reviewing it. I actually completely agree with your review and score. It's a real shame to me that fallout 4 has only had a couple of expansions, and neither one has hit the heights of what they could have. All in all, a bit disappointing, rather like the main game for me unfortunately

Re: PS4 Slim Will Release by 15th September for $299

BranJ0

It's a very good price if you haven't yet got a PS4, but I disagree that it looks nicer than the original PS4. I mean, it's not horrific, but the original is just so sleek and lovely, whereas this, whilst it is smaller, does look to me like a "cheap" version of the PS4, which is a shame

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's PlayStation Meeting 2016 Presser Deliver?

BranJ0

@Kidfried I think people were expecting new games because the PS4 Pro and Slim had been leaked so much. I for one was hoping that Sony would try and add in a surprise or 2 to the conference because we knew so much about the consoles, but it seems that that was all they had, which is probably why everyone is saying it was meh

Re: The Battlefield 1 Beta Ends This Thursday

BranJ0

@Wazeddie22 That's fair enough, I've never really played much Call of Duty except for when I'm at my friends' houses, and whilst this beta has been my first taste of battlefield gameplay, I much prefer the style of battlefield over CoD. I think, to me, it's just that CoD is far too arcadey for me (I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I just personally don't enjoy it), with it being very fast paced, and it tends to be you kill someone as soon as you see them. The tactics and vehicles in battlefield tend to be more to my tastes, and in general I just enjoy the feel of the game more. I still can't quite put my finger on why though!

Re: Hands On: PlayStation VR Continues to Impress in Epic Preview Session

BranJ0

My main concern with PS VR is that the games won't go beyond anything more than "an experience". I understand that VR is new to the world, and therefore these games are mainly about showing the potential that the hardware has, but this article didn't really excited me about any of the games, unlike a preview of any normal PS4 game, simply because it seems that the main, and really only, attraction to these games is that they're VR, with all the gameplay, plot, etc. taking a back seat. And I don't think that's enough to warrant the incredibly expensive asking price.

Re: Soapbox: You Shouldn't Feel Bad for Liking Destiny

BranJ0

I completely agree with this article, and not just in regards to destiny. The internet sometimes completely slams certain games that are actually really enjoyable to some people. Everyone has different tastes in gaming, some people like games that tell expansive stories, some prefer fast-paced action, some like games where you have to use complex strategies, and I really don't see the point in attacking somebody just because they have a different taste in games to you. Maybe one day we'll get it right, and accept everyone's different opinions, but we're a long way off at the moment!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 128

BranJ0

I played the first episode of Life is Strange last night, and really quite enjoyed it, so I've bought the remaining episodes, and I'll hopefully be able to play episode 2 this weekend. I loved the characters, especially Max, and the whole time travel mechanic, but I felt that the story was rather slow. Does anyone know if the story picks up a bit, with a few more plot twists?

Re: Talking Point: What August PlayStation Plus Games Do You Want?

BranJ0

@LieutenantFatman Just out of interest, how far into the Tomb Raider reboot did you get? Cause I really hated the first few hours of that game, but suddenly, it all just clicked, and I started loving it. If you didn't get very far, I would really encourage you to give it another go

Re: Rumour: Lara Croft's Rise of the Tomb Raider Rushes PS4 on 11th October

BranJ0

@Sir_JBizzle @Gamer83 @JaxonH Wow...better than Uncharted 4!? I actually only finished Uncharted 4 a few days ago, and it is easily my favourite game this generation. I did like the Tomb Raider reboot, but I found the beginning of the game (first couple of hours) to be rather dull, before it suddenly picked up the pace, so I hope that they've addressed that particular issue for me. However, the overall gameplay was fantastic. I also prefer Lara as a character to Drake, but the supporting cast of the reboot was pretty terrible, have they improved other characters in RotTR?

Re: Talking Point: Will No Man's Sky Live Up to the Hype on PS4?

BranJ0

I feel so sorry for Hello Games: the hype has reached an insane level that no game could EVER live up to. Without the hype, it would probably be a fantastic game, but unfortunately I have this feeling that it's all going to be rather a let down. Not due to the fault of Hello Games. But the fault of all of us boarding the hype train far too soon

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 125

BranJ0

@UVUVYCTXUHIV Congrats!

I'm away from home this weekend, so I'm keep on powering through Fire Emblem Fates Birthright. I'm at Chapter 19 atm, and I'm loving every minute of it, if this is meant to be the worst of the three versions, then I'm very much looking forward to Conquest and Revelations!

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time for PSone Classics on PS4?

BranJ0

Is it just me that doesn't really care all that much about trophies? I find them a nice way to squeeze a little bit more from a game, but I never get all that invested in trying to get them; I end up just getting bored, so I've never actually got a platinum trophy before on any game. It always find that the requirements are a bit ridiculous, and I'd rather spend my time in other ways than just scouring the area for the last collectable

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 124

BranJ0

Fire emblem Fates: Birthright!!! It's an absolutely fantastic game, much better than awakening IMO, which was my first fire emblem, but I admit had some pretty serious flaws. I'm planning on playing through Conquest and then Revelations after this; I'm hoping the challenge won't be too much for me!

Re: Bungie Abandons Destiny Content on PS3

BranJ0

@BAMozzy That's actually fair enough tbh, I guess I didn't really consider the scope of the content that PS3 users had already got. I also forgot that you can transfer your data over from PS3 destiny to PS4. So, my bad, sorry

Re: Bungie Abandons Destiny Content on PS3

BranJ0

@BAMozzy But this is not a continuation of the franchise, like say Uncharted or Arkham games, this is extra content for a platform. The fact that people bought the same game at the same time for the same price back when the PS4 was brand new (and therefore the PS3 was not that dated) means that to suddenly discriminate against those customers that bought it on the old platform is pretty poor. Yes, the PS3 does need to be forgotten now for new games, but if you release the original game on it, you should deliver the same services to everyone no matter what platform they originally bought it on, no matter how "dated" we now perceive it to be

Re: Soapbox: Let's Be Honest, E3 2016 Was Disappointing

BranJ0

@Thrash13 Oh, haha, sorry! I guess you've got Tokyo Mirage Session#FE, but that's a VERY niche market, and since Zelda's ages away, and Paper Mario: Colour Splash is likely to repeat the mistakes of Sticker Star, I can understand your angle.

As a whole, I actually quite enjoyed E3. I'm very happy with Skyrim Special Edition, Crash Bandacoot collection, Spider Man, God of War 4, Battlefield 1, Zelda, and Final Fantasy XV. That's gonna keep more more than occupied for the year

Re: Soapbox: Let's Be Honest, E3 2016 Was Disappointing

BranJ0

@Thrash13 But Nintendo did show more than just zelda. They showed Pokemon sun and moon, ever oasis, paper Mario: colour splash, Mario party star rush, monster hunter generations, dragon quest VII remaster, rhythm heaven megamix, harvest moon:skytree village, runbow pocket and SEVERED. And I know the main focus was on Zelda, but it looked spectacular. Really, if you can find nothing to like in any of those titles, than I'm wondering how you ever liked Nintendo in the first place
