Re: Hands On: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy Has No Objections from Us So Far

BranJ0

The third game is by far the best of the original trilogy, and whilst the second gane is definitely the 'least good' (especially the circus case yikes) the final case in that game is my favourite in the entire series, so it's still worth playing! If you're enjoying it so far then you're going to adore some of the later cases you've got to come, I think the first three are very meh in terms of what the series can offer.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Is Being Drawn Out All the Way to December 2019

BranJ0

Yeah okay this has confirmed that I'm only gonna get this when it's finished. I loved the first game, and if reviews continue being decent I'll definitely get this one as well, but waits as long as this kill the momentum of the game, especially considering the individual episodes aren't too long at all

Re: Poll: Have You Bought The Division 2?

BranJ0

It's not my sort of my game at all, but it looks like it's fixed a lot of the problems from the first game, so it seems that if you enjoy multiplayer shooters this one may be a winner

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 262

BranJ0

@kyleforrester87 I would strongly recommend Dead Cells! I've got it on my switch and always keep coming back to it. I'm not normally a fan of rogue-like games, since they're a bit too much a time sink for me, but the permanent upgrade system in dead cells is brilliant - it lets you have material things to show your progress without falling into the trap where you're just grinding to upgrade stuff as opposed to improving your skill.

Re: PlayStation Goes Hard on Captain Marvel Advertising

BranJ0

@rjejr Yep that's pretty much it - it had a low score on IMDB before the movie even came out. It's basically just internet trolls heavily reviewing bombing it. That's not to say that people who don't enjoy the movie are automatically sexist, but certainly at the moment a lot of the negativity online are just people who don't like the idea of a female lead without even seeing her in action.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 262

BranJ0

I completed Bioshock last weekend and have been playing through Bioshock 2 this week - I'm about 2/3rds of the way through I assume, just got to Fontaine Futuristics, so should finish that off this weekend

I've very much enjoyed the gameplay of Bioshock 2, but this game is not going to last well in my memory. It doesn't feel like a story they wanted to tell, like in the first game, but more of a cash grab. The fact that you know everything about rapture from the first game makes this one lack any sort of atmosphere or intrigue, and the audio diaries that were so great in the first game are just immensely boring in this one. It's a lot more fun to actually play than the first Bioshock because the shooting mechanics have been tightened up and the dreadful hacking minigame is gone, but apart from that it lacks any sort of passion or creativity behind it whatsoever

Re: Poll: One Week Later, Were the Reviews Right About ANTHEM?

BranJ0

It sounds like it's the very definition of an average and generic game - something that it always seemed to look like. I have no doubt Bioware will improve it over time, but by then the division 2 will be out and everyone's short attention spans will be diverted to that. The only way I can see Anthem being properly successful now is if it does a comeback 'Destiny the Taken King' style, but even that's unlikely

Re: Game of the Year 2018: #6 - Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition

BranJ0

I did not expect this to be on here! Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly happy, it's my favourite game of 2018, but I wasn't sure it would get enough recognition to make the top 10. Really pleased!

As a side note, the soundtrack is also absolutely phenomenal - I haven't been able to stop listening to it since I first played this game in August

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 251

BranJ0

I've had the last Guardian for ages, but never even started it until yesterday, so I think I'll dedicate my weekend to playing that! I'm enjoying it, but Trico is unbelievably frustrating at the moment, and will definitely impact on my experience unless it gets slightly better. There's nothing more annoying than knowing the exact solution to a puzzle, but not being able to do it for 5 minutes because the AI won't listen to you

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 250

BranJ0

I'm going home from uni for the Christmas holidays, so I can actually start gaming more than 2 hours a week now! I purchased a SNES mini in the summer, but only managed to play a link to the past, so I'm going to go through its huge selection of games and see which ones take my fancy!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 249

BranJ0

@Kidfried Just finished it, and although I recognise that I'm probably still rolling on the hype of just finishing it, I'm almost certain it's my favourite Zelda. That final boss and ending was the most perfect cap to that game. Whilst the game as a whole might not have had the best dungeons (although I did find tower of the gods and the wind temple to be absolutely excellent) it was just the most pure fun I've had with a game in ages. I just want to play it all again now!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 249

BranJ0

@Kidfried I've just finished the triforce quest, which I'd heard was abysmal, but I ended up really enjoying! I assume I've just got the last dungeon to go now, so I'll finish it this evening, and if it sticks the landing then it really will be one of my favourite games of all time, it's just got five times more personality than any game I've ever played!

@carlos82 Ahh that's fair enough, I absolutely love Ocarina, but I prefer the overall atmosphere and story of Majora's Mask, and I also think the dungeons, whilst there are far fewer than in Ocarina, are some of the best the series has produced. It's comfortably sitting at third favourite though!

Re: Hardware Review: PS Classic - A Nostalgic Nineties Novelty

BranJ0

@Porco Sorry, I should've clarified, I mean the selection on the PS1 classic don't hold up as well. Overall yes, the PS1 does have more than enough truly classic games, but unfortunately the choices of games on this mini system just doesn't represent the gems that the PS1 could offer, unlike the SNES classic, which no one could argue didn't offer most of the best games available on the system at the time

Re: Hardware Review: PS Classic - A Nostalgic Nineties Novelty

BranJ0

Thanks for the review, but it has solidified that I'm not going to purchase this. Unlike the SNES classic, where the games have all held up as classics of their time, and so I'm very happily playing through these games for the first time ever, the PS1 classic very much relies on the novelty of showing how far PlayStation has come. Besides that, it's purely nostalgia driven, and since I don't have any nostalgia for it, I think I'll save my £100

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 247

BranJ0

My friend brought his GameCube down a couple of weeks ago, and when I've got the time, I'm steadily chipping through the legend of Zelda: wind waker, which despite being a massive Zelda fan, I've never played. I'm absolutely adoring it at the moment, and if it keeps up this quality could be my favourite Zelda game!

Re: You'll Be Waiting a While for Shovel Knight's New Stuff

BranJ0

I can wait as long as I have to for more Shovel Knight without any complaining - I know all of this was promised in their Kickstarter campaign, but they've gone above and beyond what anybody expected of them to produce some of the best platformers I've ever played, all completely for free. I can't wait to try this campaign, and I'm looking forward to whatever Yacht Club Games makes next!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 234

BranJ0

After 35 hours, I'm on the true final boss of hollow knight, which I'm having massive difficulty with, so I might go and try out the newly released DLC, which has come out at a perfect time! Other than that, not much, although Okami HD is looking awfully tempting, so I might give in to that soon!

Re: Shadow of the Tomb Raider Cinematic Trailer Leaked

BranJ0

I loved the first game, but the second one was a real let down for me. The story felt like it was trying to be something wonderful, and was really rather boring and the action set pieces were all quite samey and very short. I also wasn't a massive idea of the big hub world idea, like a mini open world, it really ruined the pace of the game for me. I am still intrigued though, but I'll definitely wait for reviews for this one.

Re: Yoko Taro on NieR Sequel: 'If Square Enix Wants It, I'll Do It'

BranJ0

I'd personally want something different. Nier: Automata is one of my favourite games of all time, but its ending is perfect, and doesn't really leave much room for a potential sequel. I just don't want to see Yoko Taro restricted by corporations and just keep on making brilliant stories and games that only his insane mind could come up with!

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Far Cry 5 Breaks 100k, PS4 Drops Off

BranJ0

@NintendoFan4Lyf I doubt labo will take away from God of War's sales to be honest, considering just how different markets they are going for.

God of War is going for a cinematic and gameplay masterpiece for adults, and Labo is going for young children having a creative and educational experience. Not that that's knocking Labo in any way, I think it could do very well and is a great idea, but we have no idea how well it'll do at the moment considering most people buying it won't be on these sorts of websites. It'll be interesting to see which one sells more, but I doubt the majority of people will be tossing between buying either God of War or Labo.

Re: PS5 Unlikely to Launch in 2018, Says Michael Pachter

BranJ0

This doesn't strike me as a particularly groundbreaking analysis. Most of us would also guess a similar thing. Sony would be stupid to release the PS5 this year considering how the PS4 is still riding high, and there are lots of announced exclusives for it that will release next year at the earliest (Last of Us II, Days Gone, etc.), and because of that, it would also be poor idea to release the PS5 in 2019 as well, because they'd be killing all of the hype for these popular exclusives by announcing and marketing the PS5. So yeah, 2020 at the earliest is fairly certain I'd say.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 214

BranJ0

I finished persona 5 the other day - absolutely fantastic game with a phenomenal ending, I'd imagine lots of people here have played it, but if you haven't, you really owe it to yourself to do so (even if it is a tad on the long side - overall it's taken me since August to finish off this game due to the breaks of going to uni).

So I'll just be playing axiom verge this weekend which I started the other day. It's much better than I was expecting, and is one of my first metroidvania games, which is a genre I really need to play more considering how much I love the very few I've played.

Re: Final Fantasy XV to Receive 4 Further DLC Episodes, Coming 2019

BranJ0

The DLC episodes in 2017 were fine, if not all that great, but this is just insane.

I know it's "even more extra content", but FFXV just is not one of those games that anyone endlessly plays. It's not a service game that people play forever, it has a single player campaign and a bit of DLC that people might like to flesh out the main story a bit. To continuously pump out average story content is just a waste of talent if you ask me - they could put their effort towards something so much better and so much more appreciated, which is a shame.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS4's September Starting to Look Way Too Crowded?

BranJ0

I'll be heading back to uni after the holidays in September, so I'll miss out on all these wonderful games! The main one I was planning on buying was spiderman, which I was hoping would have a summer release date so I could play it in the holidays, so that's a bit of a shame. I probably would have got dragon quest if the timing was better and the reviews were excellent, so that's also a shame.

Less upset about the other two, since spyro doesn't particularly interest me, and whilst I loved the first Tomb Raider reboot game, rise of the tomb raider really wasn't my cup of tea.

Still, it's annoying that September seems to be the go to month, I wish games were spread out more evenly, but playing your game anywhere near red dead redemption 2 is practically suicide, so I can see why they're all taking the gamble of trying to be the biggest game in September

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 213

BranJ0

I'm back home from uni, so am going to finish off Persona 5! I thought I got to the end last night with an excellent boss battle and great music, but now all the characters are studying for finals and it seems like there's going to be even more. I'm absolutely adoring it, but I reckon I MUST be approaching the end now!
