Not only are the going the Guilty until Proven innocent route
Innocent until proven guilty only applies to criminal convictions, it’s not a free pass to get away with anything in the world forever unless you literally get prosecuted in court of law.
Losing privileges like an npc in a game, or even your job does not require a criminal conviction. Go into work tomorrow and call your boss an absolute clown, you’ll be fired and you’ll deserve it. You won’t be getting charged though, there won’t be no court date. Presumably you are still “innocent” though?
Lots of things in life have negative consequences, you do bad things and you lose out. You don’t need to go to court and get proven to be a criminal.
Wow Like a Dragon Gaiden was the moment I realised I'm completely done with Kiryu games. I never made it to the end of chapter 2. The second chapter is just abysmal.
Both Zelda and Mario have so many new ideas and such creativity that dismissing then as retreads isn't really fair.
I was just being flippant, I absolutely value those games. Super Mario World is probably my favourite game of all time, but at the end of the day the resources required to make a 9 hour 2d platformer are small compared to some vast AAA cinematic game. I completely admit that Tears of the Kingdoms production is a vast undertaking in line with big AAA games.
@Old-Red Remakes and Remasters don’t count as real games, everyone who hates PlayStation knows that. Nor do games made by third party developers. You also randomly included games from 2022 like Bayonetta 3 and Mario + Rabbids.
Additionally you included a bunch of DLC, but DLC is bad because it just means the developers shipped an incomplete game and it’s not worth playing until the complete edition comes out(has to be a physical edition with 100% of content on the disc too, or it’s a rubbish cash grab).
What you fail to mention is how Xbox sales in the UK absolutely destroy PS. Xbox has a 71.3% market share too and PS has 26.1%. Nintendo in UK sits at 0.1%. So PS may be no1 in EU, but not in EU +UK + Germany.
This is crazy alternate reality stuff right here. According to GSD the PS5 was the best selling console in the uk in 2022 and is leading 2023 by a large margin. In November the Ps5 accounted for “practically half” of all console sales.
The PS5 is even beating Xbox in the USA this generation. I think the only country in the world that Xbox might be ahead is Mexico(no solid data though)
Estimated console sales so far this year worldwide:
@Deityjester the point is that enough people play it in NA for it to be an absolute hit, doesn't even matter about the rest of the world. The comparison helps build perspective, can't think of a better example. It probably charts higher than almost every Ubisoft game, that better?
@Arnna You don't understand how sample sizes work. Samples of 100k are massive. Election results are predicted based on samples of 1000 people.
You're just another 14 year old edge lord hating on everything because you think it makes you look cool. You're coming across as a loser, not cool and edgy btw.
@Arnna Those are user feedback scores, percentage of positive scores, so basically everybody in the world that plays those games does like them. It is just you.
Call of duty outsells every single game you listed combined
Let’s do some fact checking there buddy. Best selling CoD game of all time is Black Ops at 30.8m, worst is infinite Warfare at 13m. The average CoD game sells bout 20m copies. That’s across all 3 formats too.
So average game sell 20m, and about 50-60% on PlayStation. That’s 10-12m sales on PlayStation.
Now some sales figures for Sony first party games:
God of War - 23m(19m on PlayStation alone)
God of War: Ragnarok - 15m on PS alone in 1 year
Spider-Man - 20m+
Horizon Zero Dawn - 23m
Ghost of Tsushima - 9.73m as of July 2022
Uncharted 4 - 16m+
The Last of us part 2 - 10m by June 2022
@HonestTruth Here’s a list of games that the PS5 can play at 60 FPS and the PS4 Pro cannot:
Spider-Man Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man: Miles Morales The last of us Part 2 God of War God of War: Ragnarok Horizon: Zero Dawn Horizon: Forbidden West Ghost of Tsushima Days Gone Elden Ring Alan Wake 2 Control(very important) Hogwarts Legacy
I thought it was brilliant, one of the best DLCs I've ever played. The returnal free DLC is amazing too.
There's a ton of content, even after you roll the credits. There's continuing story elements related to items you find and Kratos's past actions, new challenges unlocked and apparently theres a secret ending too.
There are some truly staggering estimates out there, which peg the PS5 at just shy of one million sales for November while its nearest rival hovers around the 50k units mark. Obviously, GSD doesn’t release the official figures so we can’t corroborate these estimates, but that’s a truly mind blowing difference if true.
The GSD data for “Europe” does not include UK, Germany and some Eastern European countries btw, so the data all needs to be stitched together for complete European Sales.
It should also be noted that the VGChartz estimate is almost certainly correct to within about 5% margin of error(for PlayStation, Xbox is nowhere near as certain). The reason for this is because all the sales data for November has been expressed in terms of year on year growth and sales for last year are basically known almost perfectly since Sony have periodically revealed sell through numbers at key Milestones and even to the exact day the milestone was reached. So if you have the old data calculated for November and GSD, for example, say xxx% increase you can calculate that number completely.
Btw the VGChartz estimate for Europe has the PS5 at 1.71M which in an all time record for a November month for any hardware(previous record was the DS 2008 at 1,556,491)
I admit it doesn’t look great that they’ve cancelled Factions but Santa Monica supposedly cancelled a version of God of War until they created the 2018 title
This is a very good point to bring up. It wasn’t a GoW game but actually a new SCI-Fi IP that they worked on for 18 months. Stig Asmussen was the director and he and a bunch of other people lost their jobs because of it and Santa Monica went 5 years without releasing a game, 4.5 years into the PS4 generation before GoW(2018) released.
@wiiware I can’t really imagine not wanting to play a game because it has a new character in it. Fortunately the game is outselling the original so most people in the world have retained their sanity.
@TheCollector316 No one has even the slightest idea how many copies it sold on EGS so any analysis of this is irrelevant. It could be a record breaker on EGS, it could be a total bomb. Any speculation is pointless.
The speculation that it wasn’t selling well was based on MAU’s from PS and Xbox, actual available metrics.
What about the 5 million other games that changed the main character? Resident Evil? Final Fantasy?
You’re also overlooking the fact that they didn’t change the main character. You play as Alan in more than 50% of the chapters. The story is entirely about Alan Wake.
Also just to clarify some points, Remedy will never actually make a loss on Alan Wake 2, regardless of sales, because it was funded 100% by Epic upfront. However if it doesn't make a profit(€70m breakeven point) then Remedy will get zero royalty payments.
2 million full price digital copies is probably enough to break even, but it will also get something in the region of $10m+ for going to gamepass/PS+ if it hits relatively early(reception and awards will drive up this price, makes it a real prestige add)
@JAMes-BroWWWn Control was actually the first ever Remedy game to launch day one on a PlayStation. The previous 2 games from Remedy had even been xbox exclusive.
The game called alan wake 2, it's the sequel for alan wake 1, a game about a guy called alan wake. Maybe the reason the sequels didn't sells because it didn't focus on, you know, alan wake?
Who the heck is this saga person and why gamers mostly play as her and not the person itself, alan wake?
Dude's a genius, we now finally understand why no one buys all those Zelda games.
850k on console alone would be an amazing number for this game, Remedy do not have a large console fan base(especially PlayStation, Control didn’t even make the PSN download top 20)
Control’s 2 million sales were not in a year but a little over that, which is important as it encompassed the Steam release too.In the investor meeting they stated that Control made more revenue in 2020 than in the release year(2019).it also sold the vast majority of its sales on PC.
Alan Wake 2 was 11th(North America)and 5th(Europe) on PSN monthly downloads in October and had only fallen to 12th and 7th the month after. Sales are staying very consistent through positive word of mouth. Also, to repeat, Control never made the top 20 on PSN and it launched in a softer month(August vs.October/November)
If this number is accurate then I am absolutely thrilled with that. This game will be a massive success, digital only also means a much higher profit margin on every sale so sales thresholds for profitability are much lower.
@Sakai Xbox is down around 20% year on year for the full year and needed a massive holiday period to get back to even, a 4% increase isn’t really going to cut it.
Selling less this year than last year is absolutely not a good year for them.
Only half in the UK is actually not that impressive. PS5 was basically sold out during Black Friday and you could only pre-order the new model which released the week after, and basically at RRP or maybe £20 off if lucky.
What are you talking about? MLB the Show was the 18th best selling game in NA in 2020, the 9th best selling game in 2021 and the 10th best selling game of 2022.
The only Microsoft or Bethesda published game to make the top 20 in all those years was Forza Horizon 5 at 20th position in 2021.
It might only sell well in NA but it makes an absolute ton of cash there, the franchise has sold more this gen than all MS games combined in NA probably.
@darkswabber it’s not part of the movie deal, it’s completely separate and it wasn’t even specifically a spider-man deal.
The situation is basically this(almost all info has been made public through one source or another) Activision had the Marvel licenses and Marvel(Disney?) weren’t happy with their performance so they explicitly took those rights away from Activision(Activision were not happy about this at all, famous leaked email “good luck finding your unicorn”).
Subsequently Marvel tried to find new developers for games, deals were struck with Square Enix and MS was offered the chance to make a deal, spider-man was not explicitly offered I believe, Ms declined it stating they wanted to focus on their own IPs.
It’s likely that other publishers were also approached and declined, you have to understand that none of these licenses were actually perceived to be valuable at this time. Sony was offered a chance to make a Marvel game at the same time(not explicitly Spider-man)and Sony offered the game to Insomniac(who were not a first party studio and only somewhat successful at this point, remember not a valuable license) and Insomniac were told they could make almost any marvel game with some exceptions(presumably the ones already agreed with other publishers)and they chose a Spider-man game.
It was only after this game released that anyone took the Marvel license serious(although the other marvel games all tanked) and Insomniac graduated into the big leagues.
I feel like the Pushsquare comment section is quickly becoming an echo chamber of negativity and all the people who actually have positive thoughts are being pushed out by the constant whining and monaing and the only people left are the other complainers to reinforce everyone else’s negative opinions and ideas.
Pushsquare comment section now literally hates everything unless it’s a first party game made by a first party studio that is not a sequel, or a marvel game or have multiplayer/live service/roguelike elements. Also if it’s open world then that’s probably just a lame Ubisoft game, and if it’s a linear cinematic game then that’s just a lame movie game. Basically everyone just wants “quirky games” made by Japan Studio, even though no one actually bought those games when they existed.
@IOI Additionally if you’re not counting games by third party studios then I believe Sony released zero big games in 2015, and only days gone in 2019. These types of years are really not that abnormal.
@IOI You literally read nothing of what I said or understand why the list was relavent to the discussion, as it was a direct reply to someone listing both Xbox and PlayStation release schedules.
The lists were from the first PS5 and Xbox series X/S reveal events, only those games. It doesn’t even include GoW: Ragnarok or Spider-man 2 that got announced after and released already, nor does it include Perfect Dark and Indian Jones that got announced 3 years ago and are nowhere near even getting a release date.
Also, counting games like Psychonauts, Redfall, Starfield etc. is a joke when those games were primarily developed with zero Ms input and they just bought the studios with the game almost completed, and at the same time you are trying write off all the games Sony are publishing this year that theyre actively assisting and funding: Rise of the Ronin, Helldivers 2, Lost Soul Aside, Stellar Blade.
In your world it would be better if Sony just bought a company and put their name on the box of all the games already being made than funding and assisting new games through 4-5 year development cycles.
@IOI Rise of the Ronin is published by PlayStation studios and assisted by Sony Xdev for 5 years+ since earliest pre-production.
If that is not a first party game because it was made by a studio not owned by Sony then neither was Bloodborne, Returnal, the first Spider-man etc. Same applies to Pokémon, Smash Brothers, Kirby, Metroid etc.none of them made by studios owned by Nintendo

Re: What Was Announced at The Game Awards 2023?
@IOI Rise of the Ronin is published by PlayStation studios and assisted by Sony Xdev for 5 years+ since earliest pre-production.
If that is not a first party game because it was made by a studio not owned by Sony then neither was Bloodborne, Returnal, the first Spider-man etc. Same applies to Pokémon, Smash Brothers, Kirby, Metroid etc.none of them made by studios owned by Nintendo
