Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 435

Col_McCafferty

Lots!

Judgement for weird Japanese goodness, Returnal for sci-fi blasting fun and Gran Turismo 7 when I feel.the need, the need for......nah, not going to finish that.

😉

I may or may not start something else, maybe join the Club and finally give GotG a go or maybe Little Hope. With the temperature continuing to rise, maybe I need something that will send chills down my spine. Keep me cool.

😝

Enjoy whatever you decide to play or do and don't get sunburn!

Re: Rumour: The Next Assassin's Creed Game, Rift, Will Be Set in Baghdad

Col_McCafferty

@Bismarck wrong, wrong, wrong. As I said, ALL games made are inspired by something that came before. They all borrow certain elements and traits from each other, just like any other medium. HFW is a fantastic game and looks and plays very differently from Valhalla, it really does. The core combat is proof of this. You need to stop your 'crusade' to 'save' gamers and gaming and just enjoy what you do enjoy, it's really that ***** simple.

@Northern_munkey oh no, you mistook me for him? The MS fanboy? Oh how could you!

😉

I'm sure I had this avatar first. It's mine I tells ya!

Re: Reaction: We Need to Talk About PS Plus Premium

Col_McCafferty

@Bez87 VIP Premium tier? You're overselling it a tad, mate.

😉

Extra is really good, Premium will be too but not quite yet. Maybe every single game known to mankind should have been available Day One but that's not the case, so suck it up. If they had of done y'all would've found something else to complain about anyway, even if you'd had to make something up.

😂

Re: Rumour: The Next Assassin's Creed Game, Rift, Will Be Set in Baghdad

Col_McCafferty

@Northern_munkey fishing? I think you might have me confused with someone else

Only fishing I have ever done is in video games!

😉

Yeah, maybe we should all just put him on ignore.

@Bismarck 🤦🤦🤦

Horizon series is fantastic, wtf are you going on about?

You think that game was made by lazy developers? Are you nuts?!

Every game borrows from something else or is built upon that which came before. It's more that there are types of games that you don't like but others do. Let them enjoy these games and you enjoy what you do. The idea that we as a gamers need to be up in arms over everything, all the bloody time is exhausting.

Re: Rumour: The Next Assassin's Creed Game, Rift, Will Be Set in Baghdad

Col_McCafferty

@Bismarck You again? Man, you're relentless I'll give you that!

One of those gamers out to save their fellow gamers from their 'poor' choices or just an insufferable and repetitive bore? I'll let the people decide.

😉

I don't like Valhalla either but let people play what they want, without judgement from the likes of you. It's got to stop, this self-righteous arrogance. Try and be a bit more positive, perhaps. Go on, give it a try at least.

😝

A smaller, more linear and stealth-focused AC game would be very welcome. Setting is almost irrelevant. Or they just go back in time and remake the first one. It could definitely be improved!

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part 1 Really a 'Cash Grab'?

Col_McCafferty

It's Groundhog Day....again!

🤦

State of some of the comments. Some people should find something else to play if they're not interested in buying the remake, and they ought to stop with the self-righteous attitude and hailing themselves as the gatekeepers of gaming or some such nonsense.

Honestly, all this hobby of ours seems to do is make so many people mad. Maybe, I don't know, take up something that doesn't cause you such distress and angst.

Re: Until Dawn, The Quarry Dev Acquired by Nordisk Games

Col_McCafferty

I've just finished playing Man of Medan through Plus Extra, inspired to do so after watching a playthrough of The Quarry and overall I thought it was alright. A tad short but it is part of an Anthology series. I understand the reasons why they didn't, but it would've been much better if they'd released them all at the same time.

These types of games aren't for everyone but I do enjoy them, from time to time. Will likely give Little Hope a try within the next few weeks. From what I have seen, The Quarry looks pretty good and worth playing at some point.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 434

Col_McCafferty

Returnal and Judgement are my two SP titles and GT 7 when I'm in the mood for burning rubber.

😉

I like Returnal even if I'm not entirely sure I'm making much actual progress lol. It's hard though but not impossible, so far anyway.

Judgement is definitely something different for me but I'm digging it for sure, it's quite relaxing to play as well.

GT 7 continues to be a lot of fun, albeit in relatively short bursts.

Have a good one, folks.

Re: PS5's Forspoken Release Date Delayed Until 24th January, 2023

Col_McCafferty

I'd rather play this than Hogwarts or Gotham Knights. I thought people wanted new IP?

😒

Disappointing news for me, but I'm sure I won't struggle for things to play until it is released. Maybe we'll all be Dead Spaced-out by Jan after playing Callisto Protocol in Dec, and what something different to play. Could do very well in Jan.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Col_McCafferty

@Blacksmith1985 hmm, I don't really view HFW as a RPG though and AAA games push the envelope with graphics and audio design, ER clearly doesn't. And name a game that isn't combat-focused lol.

Also, I'd advise you to leave some time between finishing ER and starting HFW. At least that's what I've got from others that played ER.

Anyway, stay safe.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Col_McCafferty

@Blacksmith1985 wow man, stay safe.

Enjoy your gaming, it's a hobby that has helped me in the past when I needed something else to occupy my mind.

Seems churlish to point this out, but HFW had an official release date before ER. FromSoft deliberately releases their game close to HFW, not the other way round. I see this fiction posted all the time online, almost as a way of further taunting GG and Sony.

I don't see the similarities anyway, they're both open world and released within a week of each other but that's it. Might as well compare Far Cry with ER.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Col_McCafferty

@Majk_SVK Hell yeah, improved frame rate, 4K options, Dualsense features etc - all of that would have me running back to it for a third playthrough in a heartbeat.

Which is why it won't happen of course. Damn you, Rockstar lol.

At least we have the improved The Witcher 3 to look forward to on PS5, another GOAT contender.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Col_McCafferty

GT 7 of course, got to start tackling the Menu's again but really my focus is on the Circuit Experiences and going back to the Driving Licence tests, trying to get a Gold on each one.

Resi 8 is my 'main' SP game, taken out three bosses (House Beneviento was everything people said it was, creepy as hell!) and progressing nicely. Found most things but I'm sure there's a goat in the church. I can hear it but I can't see the darned thing. Brilliant game though, a lot of fun.

Did start Observation last weekend but only played it for a couple of hours. It's definitely... interesting rather than brilliant. Will try to put another hour or two into it this weekend.

Have a good one, folks.

Re: Soapbox: I Tried So Hard to Like Elden Ring, But I Just Couldn’t Do It

Col_McCafferty

Ha yeah, don't dare ever criticise Elden Ring. Some people really don't like that!

😝

I'm sure it's a very good game BUT I'm positive the hype was over the top (hailing it as the Greatest of All Time!).

Anyway, I'll never play it even if it ends up on Extra. No point as I wouldn't be able to finish it. Not saying I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of it, for a few hours at least, but I think it's too hard and I'm too impatient lol.

Re: First Photo of PSVR2 in the Flesh Emerges

Col_McCafferty

@cheonseojin I know, it's getting really bloody tiresome.

Constructive criticism is fine BUT almost every single thread on this site is ruined by miserable gits. Don't like PlayStation, go to another site. It's that bloody simple!

I'm not sure VR is for me (matter of space and cost) but I hope this is a success and delivers really good gaming experiences for all that purchase it. At least Sony are trying to innovate.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 432

Col_McCafferty

Cyberpunk completed last weekend (really good game, Johnny Silverhand is a legend!) so needed a new 'main' and decided time to scare myself silly with Resi 8.

Actually it's not that scary, more like the recent IT films in horror as blockbuster entertainment. It has its moments for sure (albeit I'm not far into it) but it's certainly not quite as intense as say Resi 2 remake or 7. It's absolutely beautiful though, Castle Dimitrescu interiors especially. I could definitely live in that place...if it wasn't for the scary vampire ladies, or maybe that would be the main draw.

😉

More of the wonderful GT 7 and wonder if I may start one of the games on Extra, something different like Deliver Us The Moon. Really spoilt for choice at present!

Enjoy yourselves and stay safe, it's a crazy world out there.

Edit - Actually on second thoughts, going to give Observation a go instead. It's a game I've been particularly curious about since it's release.

Re: Poll: Which PS Plus Tier Are You Subscribed To?

Col_McCafferty

Paid for Extra, had fun looking through the list then searching for games not on the list but should be (Deliver Us the Moon), added some to my Wishlist, but haven't tried anything yet as playing Resi 8 and GT 7.

I bought it mainly for Returnal and Stray. Just three months to start with, will see how it goes. Give it time and I think it will grow into something really special BUT as a compliment to my normal practice of buying the occasional big game Day One and waiting for sales on others, not in replacement of.

Re: Reminder: PS Plus Extra, Premium Roll Out Across Europe Tomorrow

Col_McCafferty

@Ravix Nice post and welcome!

Nothing wrong with being positive and enthused by gaming, even on this site.

😉

It's the start of a brand new world, over time I think it will prove to be a very good service with or without day one 1st party releases.

It's just a reminder that I've probably played too many games over recent years as much of your list I've already played!
