Here's an FAQ....whilst I acknowledge most Destiny 2 reviews are delayed, breaking down its DNA post servers going live, why do you have a guide out before you publish the review?
I mean, if you're going to put a guide out then that must mean you are able to pen / publish the review.....right?
It seems sacrilege and IGN-Esque (NOT in a good way) to bizarrely talk about what is required and recommended but at the same time cite you need more time to formulate a review. So it's a conscious decision, and a very bad one.
I think this uneasy clickbait pattern of releasing a number of articles on a AAA release before actually reviewing it smacks of tabloid journalism rather than a site built on thought-provoking articles and meaningful reviews.
Alas this will be the decision of the 'Editor' as per recent releases also having bizarro guides before the review - stop the malaise guys, get back to decent articles with heft not numerous empty ones designed for google analytics 😬
@kyleforrester87 - Galvatron is still an arbiter of fun, he just loses patience with arrogant, flawed Reviewers who abuse their position and insult our intelligence.......
...rest assured, I'm still fun, just wrangles my circuits is all 😏
@naruball - unfortunately this site no longer posts articles that are prescient and on the money, and this Editor is happy to just do as he feels re clivkbait articles and posting of reviews minus a score then posting another review...with a score. Or worse, screwing over his colleagues with vain, irrelevant "I don't like this game" articles a day before his colleague posts a review.......RIP Push Square.
The review itself is poor, but keep an eye out for his petulant retaliations which are a blatant abuse of being an 'Editor'....
....it must be the thought process he had every time Taylor Swift successfully sues for 'unwanted advances', thinking 'I'm next' 😬😬😬
I left Destiny a while back, hopefully this trailer reflects what we all want from the sequel; matchmaking for all modes, bigger areas, better AI and a more involving story.
Day one for me as well, despite my gripes D1 has the finest gunplay in the land.
I'm far more interested in the geography in-game though; Destiny was meant to be a lot more expansive and that, for me, is the primary issue along with more Halo-type elements like strong enemy AI and ships to fly - that's when Bungie will truly hit the landmarks they themselves set.
Alas those things seem distant whilst there's too much emphasis on the story - gamers who'll chug hundreds of hours into this would prefer a more complete next-gen experience, but that's Activision and another thread I guess 😬
Here's a perfect example of the misrepresentation of trailers for games - Assassins Creed has ALWAYS been a poor sandbox game, and whilst this trailer does look good and as a fan of Egyptology I WANT it to be good, I suspect it'll be the same low-grade game which still bizarelly generates 9/10 before being swiftly forgotten.....
@smythelove - certainly a studio which has made one of the greatest games of recent times (TLOU) but for Uncharted? Hardly the pinnacle of gameplay, it's fair to say? The review is a reflection of the series itself, an emphasis on story and titbits on lockpicking and a sandbox chapter.....yet it gets 9/10, but ya know some of you peeps love Uncharted for the same reasons I find it dumbed-down so go figure 😂😂😂
@FaultyDroid - interesting, Elite is tempting alas I'll have to upgrade my hard drive first....how much is the DLC as a seperate add-on, if you happen to know? Might be worth buying now and downloading after hard drive upgrade.....
I hear what you're saying re the entire galaxy mapped out and the immersion Elite offers is quite a draw, again off topic but the music, which I loved so much I bought the album off ITunes, is a big chill factor in NMS 🚀
@FaultyDroid - i thought Elite: Dangerous was ship-only exploration, minus the buggy DLC on certain planets? That's kinda why I love No Mans Sky, the on-foot exploring.....
Does Elite: Dangerous at that price include the buggy DLC? Probably too optimistic 😬
@shonenjump86 - yeah, can be a pain to get a match going, thankfully most players are happy to have a fair few games once connected, spot on it is brutal indeed 😬
The game is superb online and the Tekken soul has been retained, especially momentum. Now for Pro Evo 2018 to pad out the sports quota!
@Hoodie718 - yeah there was a whiff of hypocracy from a few dank corners of the internet who evidently gave berating reviews and articles to ride the wave of clickbaitville.
The game lacked a number of key things so let's be clear - but it didn't deserve the maelstrom that followed.
There are gamers on this site alone who DID enjoy the game, who I suspect managed their expectations and focused their enjoyment to the isolated exploration; the game requires patience and evidently a number of these 'reviewers' do not have that - boredom they cited, as, you know, how dare a game not signpost every required action or not have a kaleidoscope of different atmospheres on every planet.
Some of us got what we wanted and didn't really care about the ending - it was the joy in flying from planet to planet, system to system, and the disappointment was in the lack of variety, but NOT the core experience. Therein lies the difference.....as for those claiming Hello Games lied, funny how virtually none of these people liked the game anyway!
@kyleforrester87 - holding a damning article just before a review on the same site to account? That's not comparable to the Third Reich, thankfully.
I was bemused by it and said so at the time.
But of course we can change our minds, it's only fair though that we also give credit where credit is due - and Hello Games have evidently not taken the cash into the sunset, they've worked hard to address fan feedback and added some decent, substantial DLC to give it some meat and bones. So if we are particularly visceral in our initial thoughts, 'fess up 😂
I'll be back on this and despite the shocking spoilers plastered online about the disappointing ending, it's all about the journey, which is a sign of a good game 🚀
@get2sammyb - so one the fiercest critics of No Mans' Sky (the less said about that damning article before the official review the better) now says that the changes could be 'too big' after having castigated Hello Games since launch for an underdeveloped game?
Sammy, its a bizarre reversal to now say players could be 'overwhelmed' by the changes - clutching at straws there, fella 😂😂😂
No Mans Sky may not be the sci-fi collosus many wanted, but it IS a very different type of game which does hold intrigue and mass exploration - which Elite: Dangerous lacks as you can't just get out and explore each planet on foot in that game.
Hello Games should be acknowledged for the amount of DLC they have added for free since launch, for free. They have absolutely addressed concerns at launch and it looks much better, too.
Will be downloading the patch and playing over the weekend, unless GTA Online continues to wrench my time with gunrunning / crate runs 😜
I think of greater note is the still lacklustre matchmaking for online, especially PS4 - anyone else agree? Seems to constantly drop the initial match up before vs screen....but re DLC, surely Julia & Lei 🤛
Loved Horizon Zero Dawn; to me it's almost a deliberate nod to Shadow of the Colossus, plus the likes of Assassins Creed, but the less said about that the better 😬
It's a fantastic demo for the PS4 as well, what with the visceral attacks by the robosaurs, such robust graphics and smooth movement by Aloy too.
Off topic, gearing up for Pro Evo 2018 as next game - especially with Anfield in a starting role ⚽️
@carlos82 - no offence intended so do swerve my bullet, just a disappointed Bungie fan who yearned the Halo experience on PlayStation which Destiny actually exceeded in gunplay terms, alas reverted backwards with AI and story. Which is down to the publishing model as much as the change of story etc. Agree re campaign alongside Online as best scenario and early gaming years dominated by Game Boy and SNES, N64 (or Game & Watch, for that matter), so no axe to grind with Nintendo, it's more the content GTA Online serves up seems progression for me as a gamer in terms of content, enjoyment and technical wizardry.
As ApostateMage knows for a level 500 in GTA Online, that's A LOT of bang for your buck 🤔
Sammy, do you have any proof in your claim that GTA Online is fuelled entirely by micro transactions?
I came late to GTA Online and have since amassed over 100 million and pretty much all the property and vehicles I want and need, via CEO missions. The gunrunning update has given me another way to make money now, alternating between CEO and gunrunning whilst having serious fun meeting and either working with or against other players. The creative freedom, and quality of gaming it offers, is still unparrelleled, so lots of you bemoaning Rockstar's success are actually criticising a title which is not only commercially an unbridled success, but critically as well.
And it does this with some serious aplomb. Cinematic, satirical, fantastic seamless gameplay from the driving to the FPS, or even drivebys, to the RPG element of rising through the online ranking. Even tennis as a downtime multiplayer is fun, or just finding other players in a session and helping them before taking on the session bully is incredible immersive and lays a blueprint for online gaming years ahead.
Why is there so much nonsense spouted about this game and the reasons for its success?
When GTA6 is finally released, let's see how many of you criticise it then, or for that matter, how Mr. Barker assesses the quality of the game upon release.
I've been a gamer since the C64 and the reason GTA5 sells so well is because the online component is absolutely incredible and is still spinning discs around the newer game releases who are not fit to lace Rockstars' boots, either from a technical or gameplay standpoint.
Sorry for the rant, but for the sake of all of us on these types of sites let's cut out the 'me too' rubbish and give credit where credit is due, and for the guy who thinks we prefer the Destiny model of DLC and Online business model - speak for yourself. Rockstar have given EVERY SINGLE DLC for 4 years completely free.
4 years.....
Destiny? Year one / two cumulative spend - £150 including base game and 2 DLC packs.
I've bought both games and whilst I'm in for Destiny 2, if we're all totally honest nobody wants the Activision model which has single-handedly seen Bungie ruin themselves from Microsofts clutches to an even more reprehensible publisher, at a cost to the completeness of their games.
Or we can prefer to spout the merits of Splatoon instead....crikey it's like Nintendo fanboys have infected the PlayStation crowd 😬🤔😂
When Lei and Julia / Michelle are released, I'll pay £3.99 for each, but it'll be sweetened with another patch which actually fixes online this time - so addictive but currently 50% of match ups yield in loss of connection...
Still, it must be said that Tekken 7 is an absolute return to form and superb online, oh and put a full practice session in the background allowing move list / demo and character select whilst searching for opponents 🤔
@FreakerZ - if that's the sound you're going for, make sure they lease the New Jack Swing compilations from Mastercuts on radio stations...
Rockstar are naturally beavering away at both RDR / GTA6, but there's a mammoth difference in emphasis between prior releases, that now driven by the fan base of GTA Online. The stream of free DLC, which adds RPG elements to already genre-defining mechanics, is refreshing its core game with deeper and deeper layers. There's still no credible alternative and GTA5 has withstood and wasted the likes of Watch Dogs and other pretenders. It's still the most visceral game and seamless in switching between driving and shooting on foot, so much creative freedom and style.
I reckon 2019 for GTA6, just being back the live comedy club gigs, Ricky Gervais was fantastic in 4!
People talk about GTA5 like it's success can ONLY be attributed to 'first time PS4 buyers' or something equally backhanded: surely it's got something to do with, errr, being a phenomenal game?
Technically still outstanding, an immersive, superbly realised environment, RPG online mode which is probably THE most supported title in history - for free.
Most of the reviews have cited these things on top of enjoyable, customisable shooting and driving mechanics - and the quality of writing, especially in the level of satire stateside, continues to endear.
I love GTA Online - specifically. The campaign was good but not as engaging as 4, but the online component is something else. Your character, cars & bikes - Shotaro still supreme - and ability to create your own storied rise via CEO / gunrunning is extraordinarily addictive.
Plenty of my friends still play GTA Online and still rave about the sheer ambition of the game, 4 years on.
But I guess it's more to do with pesky first time buyers who don't know real quality, rather than informed gamers who want some of that 😂
@viciousarcanum - so a long time Tekken fan thinks Tekken 4, 5, 6 & Tekken Tag 2 are better? Maybe the latter might give it a run for its money, but the new rage moves, graphics and online infrastructure raise it above the years of mediocrity its predecessors occupied. It feels FRESH, so yeah, I stand by that comment 😏
@get2sammyb - treading water? Ready to go uber-early? Really 😂
You seem to be contradicting yourself; you agree that Playstation Now will be offered on PS5, you also agree Playstation Now's main purpose is streaming PS3 games, yet bizarrely then go the other direction and claim PS5 is a certainty for backwards compatibility.
PlayStation Now's purpose is 'in its current guise' (as you term it) is basically enabling backwards compatibility through streaming.
If that wasn't indicative for PS5 and that console will have free backwards compatibility , why charge a sizeable subscription fee for it now?
Answer: you agree PS Now will be an 'option', you just didn't figure that is exactly what backwards compatibility now is - an expensive 'option'.
So Sony have a subscription-based streaming service on PS4 (having previously cited awkward PS3 architecture as to why PS4 isn't backwards compatible) which streams PS3 games using cloud tech acquired through Gaikai, which in turn birthed Playstation Now on PS4....to stream PS3 games.
What exactly isn't true about that to suggest they'll use the same model for PS5?
Whilst it's good to have sales, the quality of titles on sale vary massively, plus they make no sense in reducing a 3 year old title for 2 weeks then hiking it back up to £50.
I'll admit a recent sale which had Pro Evo 2017 on sale for £7.99 was excellent, until it dawned the new title was only 3 months from release - so it's questionable for a footy fan whether that stands as a decent purchase considering the increasing value servers play in the attraction of a title. Basically that version will get you a year less to play online, with more outdated teams / kits which Konami made a hash of until recently. Harsh as a Pro Evo stalwart, but true.
Years ago we talked about how digital sales would pass on the savings of manufacturing / retail costs of physical copies directly to the consumer - which didn't happen. As you point out, many digital games were MORE expensive than Amazon - and a lot still are.
And I agree with BLP_software that Sony HAVEN'T confirmed backwards compatibility. They might, but considering the only reason they didn't fit it into PS4 was pushing Gaikai - or Playstation Now as it's called nowadays - that subscription model will stay for PS5, so my guess is they'll bolt on 'backwards compatibility'...for a monthly fee.
I think these 'sales' require some context, and whilst they have been getting better this year, their general pricing for new digital titles is completely wrong.
Until that top-tier pricing of new titles is reversed, I'm loathe to tip my hat for selected titles which let's be honest need the sales as most are niche or been out a while, so yeah the sales are getting gradually better but nope it ain't cause Sony has sussed the digital market 😂
It still seems to me that there is a big difference between Elite: Dangerous & NMS, namely the former is fly only (the planet surface trekking is purely by buggy, right?) and the latter is pretty much land exploration with the flying secondary.....right?
If that's true then they are very different games, though I would suggest to Hello Games to forget multiplayer - I too love the solace of lone exploration the game offers - and have a mission system campaign added, THAT would be very interesting!
@rjejr - good luck getting an honest answer to that question, he's more likely to have a petulant fit in written form, then paste another awkward JPEG of Taylor Swift before the restraining order from her legal team finally kicks in 😂😂😂
Just picked up What Remains of Edith Finch in the sale along with the snazzy Matrix theme, hopefully the former is as good as the reviews say. Trailer certainly offers an interesting premise.
Glad to hear this - yesterday it couldn't connect to any other players without immediately disconnecting again.
Will try this out shortly; the revenge option is welcome, some of the closer fought online battles deserve more fights and it's a good way to keep ranking up.
Great game overall though, Tekken is sublime once again 🤛
@Splat - I know I'm in the minority here, but Witcher 3 was a massive disappointment for my tastes; laborious combat, text set at -100 font size, over-emphasis on story, not enough on combat.
Horizon, whilst ripping off entire shreds of Shadow of the Collosus, Assassins Creed & Far Cry, seamlessly blended AAA action with a beautiful sandbox full of decent side missions - and a cracking story.
Horizon game of the year from me, but remembering my Paul Phoenix 10-hit combo from Tekken 3 on Tekken 7 is right up there as for 2017 🤛
@kyleforrester87 - shocking statement! Fade to Black was stylish and whilst a bit of the essence of Flashback / Another World was lost in a 2.5D view, I was enthralled with it.
Back then it was FF7, Tekken 3, ISS, Tomb Raider & Metal Gear Solid. Gran Turismo too!
You gotta hand it to Sony, every Playstation generation down to PS4 has truly sublime classics.
Fade to Black is a favourite of mine, revolutionary console graphics for the time. Tomb Raider, the original, was a master class of level design and immersion.
Tekken 3 is spot on though, also revolutionary as a 3D fighting game which went hand-in-hand with sessions of ISS ⚽️
@Fandabidozi - ain't that the truth re Dark Souls 1 & 2.....
Demons Souls was so original and a bit less difficult - with the labyrinthine levels and original setting it's challenge was a charm, but Dark Souls and Bloodborne for that matter lacked originality and the difficulty became a joke.
Why it got so many glowing reviews only reviewers can answer, it became a caricature of Demons Souls and From Software need to completely move on from it.
To be honest I'm now interested in the Hotos stick but will await the reviews for Elite: Dangerous and pick up a Thrustmaster wheel for Driveclub / Gran Turismo first!
@CARBONFIBER - actually I'm more of a single player fan rather than multiplayer in general, and some of those games you mention I'm a keen admirer of, except Witcher 3 - a game with too much text of inordinately tiny size, overrated systems and frankly awful combat...but that's another story 😏
GTA 5 is a very good example of where we view the game differently; where you are correct in referring to Grand Turismo / NFS / Cars as offering more customisation or generally more options, its worth bearing in mind GTA amalgamates a number of genres including FPS and driving - and now RPG!
The freedom to not only switch seamlessly between these varying genres, still offering excellent tuning for cars and weapons, with parkour, drive-by's and no end of panache, is still jaw dropping 4 years later.
The Rockstar editor highlights the cinematic satire Rockstar hac nailed and allowed the public to become gaming Directors, branching these games out further - all for free, zero dlc costs.
Whilst I love Destiny for its perfection of FPS and Gran Turismo for racing purity, nothing beats merging both in a play session with a third person character you can personalise as much as anything else. Racing an 811 Topless off Mount Chilliad, exiting mid-air, then parachuting down whilst mowing down a target at the same time?
@thedevilsjester - to be fair to the game, pressing R3 again to revert back would be the first thing you'd probably do 😬
If you guys think Elite is too unwieldy, thats because most flight sims always have been, you should have seen the 250 page manual Microprose supplied with F117A Stealth Fighter back in '95 on PC, but man did a successful deployment, mission run and landing feel good 👌
@AlexStinton - interesting....a few reviews of the Xbox version, including the excellent Trusted Reviews, state the game can be wondrous but most of the time you'll be in full chill mode going to and fro, which can be boring.
Personally, that never bothered me in NMS as you're already in an exploratory state of mind, so a decent physics, graphics engine with good dogfighting is enough for me, reckon I'll make it my next purchase, once I stop the triumvirate of Horizon, GTA Online & Tekken 7!
@AlexStinton - yeah that's true, and it's funny I've fallen asleep at the cockpit during a late NMS session and the autopilot slows down and basically made it impossible to crash!
The flying in NMS is still too basic in every way; aesthetics, control, inertia, combat - all basic and disappointing, luckily it's just immersive enough when flying into planetary atmospheres and landing anywhere.
I've just seen the trailer for Elite: Dangerous and it looks immense. How does the trailer tally with your general experience? I get that you'll outline your verdict in the review, so understandable if you can't comment 😬
@AlexStinton - fair enough, I'm guessing then that there probably isn't much difference between formats?
That's an interesting one; no exploring on foot versus better ship playability.....NMS on foot is much more engaging now and I like the balance between the flying into planet atmospheres and exploring it on foot.
On the other hand, as a guy who never got round to playing the original Elite as I was too busy loving Test Drive, Wizball 2 & Salamander on the C64, modern day graphics and immersion applied to old-school Elite antics sounds very good indeed.
Errrm, is this another Push Square special of providing a guide BEFORE a review?
Reminds me of the 'Editor' writing a self-indulgent article about how poor No Mans Sky was in a feature......days before his colleague wrote a review which lost all impact, tsk tsk 😬
I mean, if you can do a guide then surely you can and should always do a review first, right?
But I take nothing away from Elite: Dangerous, which has me all curious on wether it satisfies the criticisms levelled at No Mans Sky. What's the feeling like of piloting ships and dogfighting / exploring? Also, is the special edition which enables planet exploring a decent addition?
@CARBONFIBER - I would normally agree at critics frittering away high scores for highly average games like Assassins Creed or Call of Duty, but GTA 5?
One of the best games ever made - or rather, GTA Online is, now effectively a freedom-doused RPG which overshadows its single player campaign through so many systems and levelling or missions I don't have time to explain why I don't time to explain 😬
Even now 4 years later it's right up there with Horizon for most astounding graphics, superb playability and AAA calibre polish to the FPS / driving / third person exploring.....high-end cinematic joy, with a special mention to vehicles like the Shotaro, 811 Topless & T20 👌
Its about time the gaming community lauded the game instead of bizarrely wandering why it still sells bucketloads and Rockstar for shoving 2 digits at the Activision 'Destiny model' of £30-£40 per update and giving FREE updates which transformed the online component into arguably the most impressive, immersive playground in gaming - CFO / gunrunning / import export updates are nothing short of an outstanding free model of 4 years support - and still going. Oh, as for shark cards, you don't need them, but the game is so immersive, cinematic and satirical that even refilling 2 large warehouses becomes an acceptable solo session of 'investment' to then let rip in a public session after the nervy sell missions 😬
Perhaps we should be asking them to hurry up and release GTA 6 and actually stop free updates that is rightfully attracting new players who know the game still plays better than 90% of games entering the market now.
Some people will never like GTA and that is fine, gaming is a medium like film & music so personal choice rules all. But given the quality of the sandbox and value for money it presents, as well as being the most confident game ever released by virtue of its tech, gameplay systems and writing, especially online, I find it bizarre comments such as 'why are people still buying it'?
They buy it because it represents the best of gaming.
An image of Taylor Swift (100th by the Editor on this site?) doesn't prove a point, especially if that point is to attempt to insult a reader. Moreso when the queens English used is fine, even if the wording was flaky 😏 Tsk, tsk.
Don't be petulant just because we disagree. Taylor would disapprove; posting a number of images of her doesn't mean she knows you 😬😬😬
And yes, I used a colon....how dare I 😏 or was it a semi-colon?!? Call the English Language Context Police! We MUST have clarification, this is a forum of the fully edited order 😬
Going back to the game, yup I believe Silent Assassin to be the finest entry in the Hitman series - better sandbox levels, better gunplay with rag doll physics, and an infinitely better story. Nah, I don't rate this Hitman for those SAME reasons......which I suspect will be rectified free of their publisher for season 2, or the next Hitman.
Sue me for having my own opinion and use of grammar on a forum....honestly, the cheek 😏
Not sure it really is - there's no real sense of physicality and the visceral gunplay of Silent Assassin is replaced with an oddly unwieldy set of animations and zero real storyline, more a series of unconnected levels that aren't as myriad as earlier iterations.
I've got the whole game downloaded yet Horizon, GTA Online & Tekken 7 have my PS4 hijacked!
I find it odd when people voice disappointment with voice acting when we are not watching an animated film, we are playing an open world adventure - in the context of everything this game does well, it comes across as petulent and irrelevant....
For those of you who maintain the voice acting is a disappointment, there's probably a job going at IGN for "the bitter haters in the gaming community" 😝
As for the expansion - sold. The gameplay alone deserves the bucks, but I was torn, thinking whilst taking down a Snapmaw in slo-mo "aargh what horrific voice acting" 😂
Game of the year - absolutely sublime gameplay married to sublime visuals and a genuinely interesting story; the mysterious open world and the Dinobots give it a unique identity despite its mimic of other games.
Gotta be said that when Aloy runs with spear behind with a giant behemoth chasing after her it feels like Shadow of the Collosus 😏
@KratosMD - the praise is absolutely earned and the game is revered the world over for very good reasons, chief amongst them is it's Colossi and the various techniques used to bring each down - way, way ahead of its time - Horizon was evidently inspired by it to a degree.
For me and thousands of others, it sits majestically as one of the finest solo gaming experiences of all time....the mysterious setup, the music, the gameplay - Majestic.
Think you're on your own there, fella - plus this game was released 2 Playstations ago, so bear that in mind.

Re: Huge No Man's Sky PS4 Patch 1.3 Does Add Multiplayer, Kind Of
@kyleforrester87 - holding a damning article just before a review on the same site to account?
Re: Huge No Man's Sky PS4 Patch 1.3 Does Add Multiplayer, Kind Of
@get2sammyb - so one the fiercest critics of No Mans' Sky (the less said about that damning article before the official review the better) now says that the changes could be 'too big' after having castigated Hello Games since launch for an underdeveloped game?
Re: Tekken 7 Survey Asks About DLC Characters, Single Player Modes, More
I think of greater note is the still lacklustre matchmaking for online, especially PS4 - anyone else agree? Seems to constantly drop the initial match up before vs screen....but re DLC, surely Julia & Lei 🤛
Re: Travel to Horizon: Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds on 7th November
Agree with most here as a day ONE purchase 😜
Loved Horizon Zero Dawn; to me it's almost a deliberate nod to Shadow of the Colossus, plus the likes of Assassins Creed, but the less said about that the better 😬
It's a fantastic demo for the PS4 as well, what with the visceral attacks by the robosaurs, such robust graphics and smooth movement by Aloy too.
Off topic, gearing up for Pro Evo 2018 as next game - especially with Anfield in a starting role ⚽️
Re: Four Years After Launch, Grand Theft Auto Online Just Had Its Best Quarter
Re: Four Years After Launch, Grand Theft Auto Online Just Had Its Best Quarter
Re: Tekken 7 Pre-Order Bonus Character Eliza Is Now Available to Everyone on PS4
Re: Grand Theft Auto 6 Rumours Just a Big Fat Hoax, Sadly
Re: Good God, Grand Theft Auto V Is Actually the Best Selling Game of 2017 in the UK
But I guess it's more to do with pesky first time buyers who don't know real quality, rather than informed gamers who want some of that 😂
Re: June 2017 NPD: PS4 Enjoys Best June Since Launch
@viciousarcanum - so a long time Tekken fan thinks Tekken 4, 5, 6 & Tekken Tag 2 are better? Maybe the latter might give it a run for its money, but the new rage moves, graphics and online infrastructure raise it above the years of mediocrity its predecessors occupied. It feels FRESH, so yeah, I stand by that comment 😏
Re: June 2017 NPD: PS4 Enjoys Best June Since Launch
Tekken 7 deservedly there - the best version since Tekken 3 and absolutely fantastic online - a real gem which brings nostalgia into the modern age 👌
As for GTA5, it's one of the finest games ever made and certainly the best sandbox game - and a real lesson in DLC by Rockstar.
Re: Talking Point: Has Sony Mastered the PlayStation Store Sale?
Re: Talking Point: Has Sony Mastered the PlayStation Store Sale?
@get2sammyb - do elaborate, I'm all ears 😝
Re: Talking Point: Has Sony Mastered the PlayStation Store Sale?
Re: Rumour: No Man's Sky May Finally Be Getting Multiplayer
It still seems to me that there is a big difference between Elite: Dangerous & NMS, namely the former is fly only (the planet surface trekking is purely by buggy, right?) and the latter is pretty much land exploration with the flying secondary.....right?
If that's true then they are very different games, though I would suggest to Hello Games to forget multiplayer - I too love the solace of lone exploration the game offers - and have a mission system campaign added, THAT would be very interesting!
Re: Tons of Digital Deals on PS4, Vita Games Live in Europe
@rjejr - good luck getting an honest answer to that question, he's more likely to have a petulant fit in written form, then paste another awkward JPEG of Taylor Swift before the restraining order from her legal team finally kicks in 😂😂😂
Just picked up What Remains of Edith Finch in the sale along with the snazzy Matrix theme, hopefully the former is as good as the reviews say. Trailer certainly offers an interesting premise.
Re: Tekken 7 PS4 Patch 1.03 Brings Big Improvements to Online Ranked Battles
Glad to hear this - yesterday it couldn't connect to any other players without immediately disconnecting again.
Will try this out shortly; the revenge option is welcome, some of the closer fought online battles deserve more fights and it's a good way to keep ranking up.
Great game overall though, Tekken is sublime once again 🤛
Re: Feature: The 10 Best PS4 Games of 2017 So Far
@Splat - I know I'm in the minority here, but Witcher 3 was a massive disappointment for my tastes; laborious combat, text set at -100 font size, over-emphasis on story, not enough on combat.
Horizon, whilst ripping off entire shreds of Shadow of the Collosus, Assassins Creed & Far Cry, seamlessly blended AAA action with a beautiful sandbox full of decent side missions - and a cracking story.
Horizon game of the year from me, but remembering my Paul Phoenix 10-hit combo from Tekken 3 on Tekken 7 is right up there as for 2017 🤛
Re: Sony's Improved the PS4's TV Section and Everyone Hates It
@rjejr - hmm if all three are Sony products with correct HDMI connections like mine then your sound bar should automatically switch to TV?
I love that functionality of turning on all 3 with the press of the Playstation button 😏
Re: Feature: 20 PSone Games We Want on a PlayStation Classic Mini
@kyleforrester87 - shocking statement! Fade to Black was stylish and whilst a bit of the essence of Flashback / Another World was lost in a 2.5D view, I was enthralled with it.
Back then it was FF7, Tekken 3, ISS, Tomb Raider & Metal Gear Solid. Gran Turismo too!
You gotta hand it to Sony, every Playstation generation down to PS4 has truly sublime classics.
Including Fade to Black lol
Re: Feature: 20 PSone Games We Want on a PlayStation Classic Mini
Well that's all the kids games covered 😬
I mean, Spyro 😂
Fade to Black is a favourite of mine, revolutionary console graphics for the time. Tomb Raider, the original, was a master class of level design and immersion.
Tekken 3 is spot on though, also revolutionary as a 3D fighting game which went hand-in-hand with sessions of ISS ⚽️
Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners
@Fandabidozi - ain't that the truth re Dark Souls 1 & 2.....
Re: UK Sales Charts: Gran Theft Auto V Steals Back Top Spot
Sublime 👌
Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners
@thedevilsjester - to be fair to the game, pressing R3 again to revert back would be the first thing you'd probably do 😬
If you guys think Elite is too unwieldy, thats because most flight sims always have been, you should have seen the 250 page manual Microprose supplied with F117A Stealth Fighter back in '95 on PC, but man did a successful deployment, mission run and landing feel good 👌
Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners
@AlexStinton - interesting....a few reviews of the Xbox version, including the excellent Trusted Reviews, state the game can be wondrous but most of the time you'll be in full chill mode going to and fro, which can be boring.
Personally, that never bothered me in NMS as you're already in an exploratory state of mind, so a decent physics, graphics engine with good dogfighting is enough for me, reckon I'll make it my next purchase, once I stop the triumvirate of Horizon, GTA Online & Tekken 7!
Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners
@AlexStinton - fair enough, I'm guessing then that there probably isn't much difference between formats?
That's an interesting one; no exploring on foot versus better ship playability.....NMS on foot is much more engaging now and I like the balance between the flying into planet atmospheres and exploring it on foot.
On the other hand, as a guy who never got round to playing the original Elite as I was too busy loving Test Drive, Wizball 2 & Salamander on the C64, modern day graphics and immersion applied to old-school Elite antics sounds very good indeed.
I look forward to your review 👌
Re: Guide: Elite Dangerous Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Re: UK Sales Charts: Gran Theft Auto V Steals Back Top Spot
Re: First Hitman Level Spills Some Blood for Free on PS4
Re: First Hitman Level Spills Some Blood for Free on PS4
@get2sammyb - says the Editor with a stalker-esque interest in Taylor Swift 😬
It means the game ain't great as there's no feeling of impact to 47's actions, the gunplay is poor and there's no story.
You MUST be a fair and impartial Editor 😏
Re: First Hitman Level Spills Some Blood for Free on PS4
Not sure it really is - there's no real sense of physicality and the visceral gunplay of Silent Assassin is replaced with an oddly unwieldy set of animations and zero real storyline, more a series of unconnected levels that aren't as myriad as earlier iterations.
I've got the whole game downloaded yet Horizon, GTA Online & Tekken 7 have my PS4 hijacked!
Re: Lara Croft's Latest Game Shadow of the Tomb Raider Seemingly Leaked
On PS1, Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, set in Egypt also - was the best one.
An HD(r?), modern Tomb Raider with bucketloads of Egyptology sounds excellent, get back to what pulled people in originally!
Re: E3 2017: Horizon's Frozen Wilds Will Alter the Existing Open World
What a game - 10/10 for me.
Re: E3 2017: Horizon: Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds Will Add a New Area and Story
Game of the year - absolutely sublime gameplay married to sublime visuals and a genuinely interesting story; the mysterious open world and the Dinobots give it a unique identity despite its mimic of other games.
Gotta be said that when Aloy runs with spear behind with a giant behemoth chasing after her it feels like Shadow of the Collosus 😏
Re: Rumour: Is a Shadow of the Colossus Remake Coming to PS4?
@KratosMD - the praise is absolutely earned and the game is revered the world over for very good reasons, chief amongst them is it's Colossi and the various techniques used to bring each down - way, way ahead of its time - Horizon was evidently inspired by it to a degree.
For me and thousands of others, it sits majestically as one of the finest solo gaming experiences of all time....the mysterious setup, the music, the gameplay - Majestic.
Think you're on your own there, fella - plus this game was released 2 Playstations ago, so bear that in mind.
Re: E3 2017: Shadow of the Colossus Remake On The Horizon
Possibly my favourite EVER game....of all time.
The effects on 4K TV's will be out of this world if Bluepoint have licence to do a full makeover - this would complete my PS4 collection 👌
