Re: Dying Light 2 Targets 2021 Launch in Poorly Thought-Out Update

@ScottyG couldn't agree with you more. This article is embarrassing. The more I visit PS the more I see its flaws rather than its strengths. It doesn't really have an identity. I thought its strength was its interaction with the community but everytime you have something to say that he doesn't appreciate he gets prickly with their responses or in my case I just get ignored. The other journos seem ok. Most of the output here is clickbait. Amazon ads dressed up as guides or frivolous articles 2 paragraphs long on some rumour.

@Jimmer-jammer you're right mate. We'd all like the allegations to be addressed and just because this wasn't the forum fo it it doesn't mean there wont be one or that its being overlooked. Its not related, and I concede I may be clouding the issue but I wish UT on FIFA were treated this harshly in every article it receives instead of getting advertorials.

Re: Dying Light 2 Targets 2021 Launch in Poorly Thought-Out Update

@LiamCroft and so you choose to critise them for it, as is your right. From where I'm sitting though I looks like you're making a bad matter worse.

They've released a heartfelt update because of the abuse and you've written a negative article purely based on what you think this update should include and not stopped to ask yourself why they've done this, or empathise with their reasons now they have.

Everything you want may still happen. In the meantime this is what they wanted to say, as a team of developers, not some company heads dishing out proaganda, who've had enough of all the nasty internet negativity from people who are putting their feelings first and not recognising that DL are people too with their own wants and needs and threshold of how much crap they can take.

Re: Dying Light 2 Targets 2021 Launch in Poorly Thought-Out Update

@LiamCroft a development update the perfect place to address allegations? Really? You'd want something as serious as that shoehorned into an update about a game's development?

I'd expect something like that to get its own vehicle in which to be addressed if it were to be made public.

They're damned either way it seems to me. You want them to talk about it in a development video but I guarantee if they did they'd be criticised by some quarters for not taking it seriously enough and using a development update to discuss such a provocative matter.

Re: Dying Light 2 Targets 2021 Launch in Poorly Thought-Out Update

Hyperluminal

@Jimmer-jammer yeah, and now they're being criticised for it which will most likely sting them again. It's seems inconsiderate.

Sure there are serious allegations to address made by a previous employee but is a game update really the place to expect an answer on such a serious topic with potential legal ramifications?

I don't understand the rationale for saying the update is poorly-thoght out? If anything its the opposite. Clearly they've spent a long time thinking about this and needed to express that they love their job, they love this franchise and all the abuse they're getting hurts.

If this update was more for them then us who can blame them? This article is as poorly thought out at it declares the update is; it doesn't try to understand WHY they may have made the update the way they did.

Re: Dying Light 2 Targets 2021 Launch in Poorly Thought-Out Update

It was clearly a cathartic experience for the DL team. After months of abuse they felt like they need this release. Why are they being judged harshly for it because it didn't fulfill some arbitrary expectation of what an update should contain?

If this were a common occurance I'd agree, but it's a one off (so far) and it looks like they needed to get it off their chests. They're people not robots.

Re: Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4

You've written that this will be free on GP and placed an asterix next to the word 'free' but there's no follow-up on why the asterix is there.

Would it not be simpler to just say you can download it on GP as we all know its not free in any sense.

I liked the demo, I'll wait for reviews but I think i might get it anyway.

Re: #EAGate Investigation Uncovers 'Questionable Activity' in FIFA 21's Ultimate Team

Good. I hope it lands EA in plenty of legal trouble. I hope websites stop supporting UT with free articles. I hope it leads to all games with egregious, cynical, addictive, manipulative 'surprise mechanics' becoming outlawed and we can get back to games being designed and developed for the game's sake as the primary reason and not purely as a vehicle with which to ensnare and prey on the vulnerable.

Re: Reaction: What Next for PlayStation?

Hyperluminal

Sony sitting on the sidelines? I don't understand why we have to be concerned about Sony's future. We don't worry about Nintendo and it has a very different business model to MS.

Sony is continuing to develop 1st party games that can't be rivalled on other platforms, much like Nintendo. Its spend a great deal of time and money developing its own VR devices making VR gaming cheap and viable to the mass-market. Its committed to designing consoles and controllers that bring new ideas to gamers, not just more of the same but with more grunt.

It would be nice if it expanded on PSNow, brought it to more countries so perhaps it could be merged with PSPlus (which has seen a resurgence to the excellent value for money it was during the PS3/early PS4 years)

MS have gone down a different path making a subscription model the centrepiece of all its thinking. Right now its aggressively building its user-base so it appears great value.

But its only going to benefit gamers longterm if we DON'T see subscriptions as something all platforms should offer as a primary choice, and lock those games to its platform.

Who really wants the fracture of gaming output akin to what we have seen happen to film and TV? Right now I pay for 7 or 8 different subs just to see the same content that used to be available on 1 or 2.

I'd hate to see Sony, Nintendo AND MS go down this route if they are going to do it by spending money on buying long-established, independant studios and denying access for all to those games behind a paywall.

So as far as I'm concerned Sony is doing fine. They are consistently bringing new IP to market, they R&D brand new technologies like VR and importantly support them. I think if they try to emulate what MS are doing just because on the surface it looks like they should then they're going to give MS the upper hand.

Sony should concentrate on what makes them different not on how to be more like MS. Sony don't have quite the billions MS do to buy their way out of their lack of investment on exclusive games.

In PSNow Sony have a ready made alternative anyway. Subjectively its catalogue is certainly not worse than MS' GamePass, I consider it better overall, so if they gave that more attention im sure they could rival GP in anyone's eyes.

Where are you? Where are the apologists and the naysayers who try to tell us that UT isn't gambling, there's nothing wrong with it, its not different to a Kinder Egg? Where are the idiots who don't understand that UT is a disgusting vehicle for creating addictive behaviour patterns in the vulnerable? How can anyone rationalise that this kind of casino-style mechanics has a place in our games just because they themselves don't play it? You're all enablers, you're the reason its allowed to exist. You buy the game, put on your blinkers, defend your choice and deny there's a sickness in the industry, and that sickness is at the heart of why FIFA exists. You think its normal to spend thousands of pounds ON VIDEO GAME content that already has no intrinsic value, and worse after less that 1 year its completely redundant so you've got to do it all over again?

Re: Bethesda Broadcast Could Potentially Lay Out Publisher's Plans This Week

@thedevilsjester well you've totally misinterpreted what I said in relation to that idiot fanboy wanting to taste salty tears from PS owners. Dont know how you got the wrong end of the stick. Only idiots do that 😄😄 joking

I agree with you. I hate this MS bull crap takeover of a well-established studio. MS create nothing. They just buy their way out of problems.

Re: Best PS5 Local Multiplayer Games

@fingalf the dualshock does work on PS5 with most PS4 games. It doesn't work with PS5 exclusive games, however I don't know if Overcooked getting a PS5 update means it won't work on that game anymore. Do a Google search and see if someone's asked that about Overcooked on reddit or something.

Re: Best PS5 Local Multiplayer Games

Hyperluminal

Utterly redundant shortlist of a tiny handful of games that fit the criteria; just there for selling these games on Amazon and getting a percentage. Doesn't even mention Borderlands 3, presumerably because its too cheap.

This can go on the feedback article. Is anything happening with that?

Re: Best PS5, PS4 Game Deals on PS Store This Week (3rd March to 9th March)

@LordSteev 😊 niet problemski.
It reminds me of a good Amiga game, I think you're going to like it. You will die a lot. I lost count how many times I wanted to roll out of the way of things but there's no roll button. You do have a shield however. The shooting is directional so sometimes things are at an awkward angle to hit with a controller but overall the game is good, hectic, old school fun.

Re: Best PS5, PS4 Game Deals on PS Store This Week (3rd March to 9th March)

@LordSteev on reflection its more Turrican than Dead Cells. Its about 8-10 hours long but really it depends on how good your reflexes are. Its made for speed-running. Once your familiar with the game you'll end up trying to fly through the game blowing ***** up, carried along by the driving soundtrack. Thats where the replay value is. Its not a roguelite where you die and start all over again slightly better off than last time; there are checkpoints you reach which act as respawns.
