Re: Knockout City Explains Its Dodge-Brawl Gameplay in New Trailer

Maybe, but this is a place to express your opinions, and in my opinion, this game and games like it exist not because a development house had a great idea for a game and were passionately creating it, but because a publisher wanted a steady cash stream without too much initial investment. Whether I'm right or wrong, I AM entitled to my opinion. And you, too, are well within your rights to disagree with me. Usually, it's what ends up keeping these threads alive.

Nobody else wants to say it? OK, I will. This is a disturbing direction for Sony to head in my opinion. The latest state of play tried to push this. These mindless garbage games are just a one-way cashflow river, without any real effort on the part of developers to make a story or have any nuance in what they do. Yet another Destruction All-Stars, and something I have absolutely no interest in.

I was more picturing an ideal dream world utopia, I guess. More along the lines of giving a million monkeys a paintbrush in the hopes that one of them paints the Mona Lisa.

Never even considered the potential 'eggplant problem', lol. I think if you give enough people access to the creation tools at no cost, maybe you interest some people in game development careers, etc., and bring some more interesting things to the play side of it.

They'd probably have to monitor what gets released online, however, you're right. That might mean having to pay a few people, so it's probably just a pipe dream.

Whilst waiting for the next Cyberpatch, I've been going through my backlog trying to find something that draws me in, so a little bit of a lot of things, lately. Just finished downloading Remnant: From the Ashes as a freebie from plus. Started it up, went through the tutorial, and died very shortly after that, but I've got to say I like the controls and the camera, and the story is good enough so far, so I'll probably strap on my combat boots and grind ahead with this.

Happy gaming to all, and to all a good night.

I have no doubt that you will get a better game for waiting. What they released in December was PC first, PS4 second, and PS5 last. The framerate and visuals might be better on the 5, but the 4 crashes far less.

They spent 7 years with the 4 supposedly the target machine, long before the 5 specs were announced or even known. For anyone who can't handle bugs or crashes, i'd say for sure to wait for the PS5 version. Eventually, it'll be a much more enjoyable and better looking/performing version of the game.

Thanks for that. It just psychologically amazes me that people who claim not to like the game insist on involving themselves every chance they get to take a cheap shot at it.

I think most who complain wanted a GTA like game, and this just isn't it. It's a game that rewards you more when you're not in a hurry and are willing to explore by foot.

In some ways, I'd compare it to a Bethesda game. I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment, because I love what Bethesda does. I prefer a game with multiple complex systems running in sync with each other, and I don't think anyone involves as much seamless complexity in their games as Bethesda does.

This means that on release, they're always buggy. I don't even know how many employees/QA testers you'd need to test every possible iteration and possible outcome through all the possible character builds, level you are when you hit what dungeon, every piece of possible gear, every single possible enchantment level, etc.

I don't think it's even possible for a game that embraces so many styles of play to release bug free. Skyrim now, on PS4 with the deluxe edition, is one of the smoothest and most enjoyable role-playing experiences in all of gaming, imo. I fully understand that the PS3 release version was a completely different story.

I think Cyberpunk, to a lesser degree, shares some of these problems. Add in to that the sheer size and complexity of Night City, and it's amazing it runs on PS4 at all. With new technology available to them while they were 'finishing' the game, I think maybe their scope got a little out of hand for what last gen consoles could handle. But I feel the love for the craft they have when I play it. I appreciate all the little things that work well that seem to go completely unappreciated by the GTA crowd.

For me, it's more like Open World Deus-Ex on steroids. I don't mind the bugs as much as most seem to. I like the world the game presents for it's ability to let me lose myself inside of it for long stretches of time. It's very much the kind of game I love to play.

@Playstation I'm with you. I keep holding out on PSNow thinking and hoping they'll combine it with Plus. It seems like that would be the best way to compete against Microsoft, and I can't understand why they haven't done it yet. Since this offer is for a year, it doesn't sound like they have any combo-plans in the works, which surprises me. I wouldn't mind paying a little more and letting them keep their discounts if they would combine it all in one inclusive package.
