Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Reveals Five Months of Paid DLC, Free Updates

Lovespuds

I really struggle to revisit games once I have finished them and moved on to the next game. I earned the platinum trophy in Wo Long and I absolutely loved my time with it, one of my favourite games this year. However, I just cannot see myself going back and learning how to play it again or pick up on any story threads. I had my time with it, I loved it and now I am done.

It is really rare indeed that I would go back to a game, even with games I absolutely adored like Horizon, it took me a years to go back to Frozen Wilds, and even then, I replayed the original game again first.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Business as Usual for Horizon Forbidden West in First Place

Lovespuds

Not that I am saying HFW will have the legs that MarioKart 8, but the reasons for remaining in the charts is the same. New people continue to buy the console and its one of the best games on the platform, so it's a no brainer to buy it for your shiny new console.

I have seen PS5s available loads of times recently, especially on Shopto. Looks like those shortages are easing at long last.

Re: There's 'No Comparison' Between The Last of Us on PS5 vs PS3, Says Dev

Lovespuds

Don't recall hearing the same vitriol aimed at GTA5 or Skrim which has been re-release a few times now too.

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it, unfortunately, folks who arent interested cannot simply ignore the game and move on with their day, instead they have to winge and moan.

I am excited for any excuse to replay my favourite game again personally, I can't wait!

Re: Pounce on Pre-Orders for Stray Physical Edition on PS5, PS4

Lovespuds

@BLKxHER0
It's not so much the wait that's an issue for me, I am well used to the games taking ages. As I say, it when you stump up the cash to get a physical game, only to find out 3 months later that its getting a standard physical release here in the UK.

Having said all that, my Deaths Door physical copy turned up today and I couldn't be happier with it!

All I can say dooder, is that the games do turn up eventually.

Re: Pounce on Pre-Orders for Stray Physical Edition on PS5, PS4

Lovespuds

As someone who buys from Iam8bit, Limited Run etc., quite regularly I am becoming more and more frustrated to find that the game ends up getting a regular, commercial physical release which is often available before these sites issue their copies.

I just ordered Turtles from Limited Run which will be issued in winter only to find that the game is getting a commercial release anyway. Its making it difficult to judge whether to buy games from these companies these days.

Also, lots of scuttlebut about these companies dubious practices in respect of generating fomo and inflating prices on Ebay etc.

Re: Mini Review: The Artful Escape (PS5) – A Visual Treat That's Light on Gameplay

Lovespuds

Blimey, it's getting more like the N4G comments section every day here.

Thanks for the review, I played this on Xbox and had a good time and thought your review to be pretty fair and on point.

I had to play what was a short game over maybe 3 or 4 sessions because the reality was, the gameplay was very limited until you got to the boss fights. But that was fine by me as this release was about the story and the moral of that story.

As you have said, 7 is indicative of a very good game, not sure why folks are getting so upset, that's seems to be about average for this game as far as I can tell. Thanks again for the review, twas a fun little read.

Re: PlayStation Studios Has More than 25 PS5 Games in the Works, Jim Ryan Reiterates

Lovespuds

The thing that really bothers me about the video game industry is how cloak and dagger everything is and in my view, its completely unnecessary. Why all the secrecy around who is working on what projects, why all the secrecy (from some quarters at least) surrounding sales figures and earnings, it is so daft in my opinion.

You don't see it in the movie industry and it doesn't have any impact at all on the sales and excitement for the movies being made. I can go on IMDB now and see precisely which projects any given actor, writer, musician or director is working on and have coming out over the next 2 or 3 years.

I can maybe appreciate that developers want that big PR moment when a title is revealed but the thing that I utterly hate is the embargo culture that surrounds games "journalism". In my opinion, journalists en' mass should just make it clear to the publishers that either you want us to talk about your game or you don't, but we are no longer going to have you place completely arbitrary restrictions on what we can show or say.

Re: GTA Trilogy's Inevitable Backlash Is Already Brewing

Lovespuds

There is simply no excuse for poor performance in these games on PS4 or PS5, I would never consider paying full price for these games anyway so I am hoping by the time I get to them they will be running in a more reliable manner.

Not sure when that will be though, January onwards looks stacked with games that I am excited to play.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Deathloop?

Arkane are in the mix for being amongst my fave devs, the Dishonoured series and Prey were stellar. Arkane and Tango Gameworks are one reason I bought a Series X last week.

@RubyCarbuncle
Oh the irony, you winge about people not acknowledging the point of view of others whilst simultaneously throwing a paddy because I disagree with the notion that always online is an issue in GT7. Catch your breath chief, I didn't want to ruin your day, I just don't happen to agree with those who think this is an issue.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's PS5, PS4 Campaign Requires an Online Connection

Lovespuds

@naruball
Exactly, people just like to get upset and of course, providers of sites covering news on any subject matter know that nothing draws an audience more than negativity, bad news and faux outrage.

I cannot wait to play GT7 personally, like 99.9 percent of the people here, my consoles are connected to the Internet, so this is a complete non issue for me. Occasionally I may not be able to play a part of the game if servers are down.....oh no....how will I survive!!!

Re: Gran Turismo 7's PS5, PS4 Campaign Requires an Online Connection

Lovespuds

@RubyCarbuncle

Hahaha.....Internet generation, dude, I am 46 and started gaming on my Atari 2600 in the 80s.

I just cannot muster the energy to get worked up about such a minor thing. By the time servers are turned off, as you suggest, we will be playing Gran Turismo 10.

At a time when there are so many things to get really upset about, especially here in the UK, small issues with a piece of entertainment barely registers as a blip on my radar.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 387

Lovespuds

@shonenjump86
I adore Rondo of Blood, what a tremendous game, I have every Trophy on it from the Castlevania Requiem release. I need to do a second run through of Symphony of the Night and ill have a very pleasing platinum.

I am playing through Blasphemous this weekend, tough game but bloody brilliant.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Lovespuds

@The_New_Butler
I will give you Ori, those games were stellar but all of the others you have mentioned were completely mediocre at launch and amount to the sum total of MS Studios output.

You can mention a few remasters and sequels from Sony, but you are still ignoring a wealth of original titles too. You surely must see that sequels and remasters are great, I enjoy most of them immensely, but they are supplementary to many other new IPs that PlayStation put out too.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Lovespuds

@Ward_ting
This is a gamble for MS in my opinion, like most subscription services, they often struggle to be profitable.

Even a company with Netflix's market share still isn't very profitable due to licensing costs and production costs relating to new shows. Its interesting to note how many successful shows Netflix has scrapped because they simply weren't successful enough.

Its hard not to forsee this being an issue for MS in the long term where costs will, at some point, impact on quality.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Lovespuds

@The_New_Butler
To give that context, I think it is fair to say that the only exclusives MS have delivered since midway through the 360 generation were Forza, Halo and Gears. In fact, they took a lot of criticism over the years about this.

You cannot say the same about PlayStation who have consistently delivered new exclusives.

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Lovespuds

I disagree with the premise of this article, I got the overwhelming feeling that there were no big hitters at all outside of yet another Halo and Forza, with the rest seeming like average to good 'filler' for a subscription service.

I will take Sony's tactic of investing in stellar exclusives every time. I am playing Ratchet this weekend and it looks better that anything shown in that conference. Horizon gameplay last week looked infinitely more polished than anything shown tonight too.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Resident Evil Village?

Lovespuds

I have 2 or 3 trophies left for the Plat on Watchdogs Legion and I will then start on Village which plopped on the doormat this morning.

Between Village and runs on Returnal, this should be a good weekend, talking of which, have a cracker all👍

Re: PlayStation Home Trademark Renewal Has Fans Dreaming

Lovespuds

Standard practice to renew trademarks in this manner, it saves any blushes. For the sake of a couple of hundred quid they avoid anyone else applying for the now, lapsed TM and thus, avoid any negative stories up the line.

Most corporations this size manage huge portfolios of IP which will often be renewed automatically.

Re: Mini Review: Hunting Simulator 2 (PS5) – An Unexpectedly Tranquil Excursion

Lovespuds

Wondered how far in we would get before someone chimed in with the tired old defense of 'hunting is good for conservation'. Absolute bunk!!

These games are weird really, I suppose ultimately it is just a videogame so I don't tend to worry about the subject matter that much. Does it serve to normalise or legitimise hunting? I suppose that is the debate to be had in my opinion. But if you open that can of worms then you have to address the impact of violent content in general and thats a whole other conversation

Re: Swashbuckling Action RPG King of Seas Sails to PS4 Next Month

Lovespuds

Like some of the others here, I got my hopes up for a Sid Meier's Pirates type game too (I played that endlessly on C64 as a kid) but this looks like much more of an arcade shooter type of experience.

This reminded me more of Overboard on PS1 that Pirates, it still looks like it could be fun and hopefully Push Square will be providing a review?

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Patch News Coming Soon, Ubisoft Updates Long List of Known Issues

Lovespuds

Well, 'the good men of Sherwood' side quest bug isn't on the list.

The NPC who triggers this mission was killed by some random wolves and he remains dead even after restarts etc. I have every trophy except the 100% completion because of a 15 second side quest that is glitched.

There are about a dozen posts relating to this bug on UbiSoft's forums, but it seems I am robbed of my platinum after all that effort, gutted!

Re: Game of the Year: Video Liam's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2020

Lovespuds

I loved Astro's Playroom too, a great game for sure. I do wonder though, if a 'full' game could sustain my interest given that so much of my enjoyment of Astro was derived from finding all the PlayStation Easter eggs, and I wonder if a fully formed game would continue to include these Easter eggs.

If not, and the game instead relies on its platforming and gameplay alone, then I think a huge amount of its charm could ebb away for me personally.
