Re: Review: Demon Gaze (PlayStation Vita)

MadchesterManc

Not really a fan of dungoen crawlers but this one keeps popping up in my mind for a purchase. Must be all that Moe enticing my inner otaku Once it hits about £20, I think i'll bite then @superconsole a vocaloid soundtrack you say?

Re: Game of the Month: April 2014 - Child of Light

MadchesterManc

Been playing Child of Light on PC of late, lets just say Im a little disappointed. Just seems a little cookie-cutter to me so far with not much going on to differentiate it from other artsy games. Shame, but it still has time to make an impression at least till Ive finished with it.

Re: Feature: Three Things You Must Know About PS4's Evolved FPS Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

MadchesterManc

Not really one to rush out and buy a CoD, I tend to pick them up dirt cheap when the next installment has released, this one does look interesting. I've grown VERY tired of all the 'oorah' stuff (Probably why I prefer Treyarch to IW as treyarch has less of it) so a near future setting seems a good place to take the series so it'll be different enough. Wouldn't mind a return to WW2 at some point though, World at War is still the best entry in the series for me.

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 Continues the Console War on Vita

MadchesterManc

@get2sammyb haha my mistake. To be honest I tend to just write Rebith when doing articles on it myself, I didnt even realise it used a ; as when I posted this story yesterday I used a : in the title instead

@Cloud7794 Im probably a Neptunia fanboy myself. The latter games are pretty solid turn-based RPG's & I love the whacky cast. Victory isn't too bad of a place to start. It kinda doesn't really carry on from Mk2 in a literal sense, so it could be a good way to try the series as its gameplay mechanics are the most solid. There's also a Re;Birth 2 in the works (remaster for Mk2) on Vita so if you enjoyed Victory you could always go back to 1 & 2 on Vita.

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 Continues the Console War on Vita

MadchesterManc

@Cloud7794 It was a fairly dire entry in truth on Ps3 due to its lackluster gameplay, but this Vita remaster has been rebuilt using the engine from Victory (the latest entry in the series on Ps3) so its far more playable than the original Ps3 version. The sequel Mk2 was far more improved also, so this Vita remaster is a good way to get into the series for newcomers Id hazard a guess the shudder & sigh from @get2sammyb are more than likely due to the games presentation and target audience as I doubt he has much love for the Moe

Re: How's Sony Doing Financially Now That the PS4's Out?

MadchesterManc

Oh look, SCE has posted another profit for Sony. Kinda makes all the doom-mongerers regarding the future of Ps4 & Sony's Worldwide Studios look a little silly of late. Its obvious where the companys losses are coming from while its being restructured. Give it a couple of years and things will look ok for Sony

Re: There's a Downside to PS4 Racer DriveClub's Outrageous Visuals

MadchesterManc

@Davekeeh Evolution was never gonna come out of this unscathed. If they went for 1080/60 & downgraded (amusingly Forza5 got a free pass doing this though. E3 build running on Titans was noticeably better than the launch build) they would be ridiculed for downgrading > If they launch with 1080/30, they would be ridiculed for the 30fps. Thats the problem with Evolution only being a 'second-tier' Sony studio I suppose. If it was one of the industrys 'darling studios like ND, noone would care. Funnily enough the Motostorm series by Evolution last gen were perfectly playable (probably my favourite racers last gen too) and they were only 30fps yet never was they bashed for that fact

Re: There's a Downside to PS4 Racer DriveClub's Outrageous Visuals

MadchesterManc

I think Evolution should get rid of this advanced dynamic lighting engine it has. Just pre-bake it, remove any AA, drop texture detail beyond your immediate area, replace spectators & distant trees with 2D sprites & BOOM! 60fps easy lol That's if you regard framerate as being indicative of a games next gen status Personally I'm glad Evolution have stuck to their guns on this to give us a tantalising glimpse at what could be in store with the likes of GT7 with its fully dynamic lighting engine. Bu bu but racing games should be 60fps! Such a shame Evolution haven't sacrificed their original vision to pander to people like that eh

Re: Review: Child of Light (PlayStation 4)

MadchesterManc

@MatGrowcott Can't help but agree with the assessment of how you approach the more artistic titles out there will have an effect on how you enjoy the game. I tend to enjoy Artsy titles myself, although the oddity with this one is that its from a big publisher instead of the usual small studio's. Might have a look at a review playthrough myself for the weekend, but I may end up going with PC for now as Im spending more time than I'd like on it lately anyway

Re: Are There Any Hidden Features in PS4 Firmware Update 1.70?

MadchesterManc

@Midzark You can upload your own picture via the Playstation app to change your avatar & notifications have been added with this update too

@Paranoimia The endless whining is starting to grate isn't it? Im hoping they do the same & get most of the features in with a 2.0 update. Those puzzled as to why a Youtube app from Google isn't included with a Sony firmware update has me chuckling though

Thankfully Sony have decided to split the Sharefactory off into a seperate download so the 1.70 update is only a measly 194Mb, I hear the Sharefactory weighs in at around the 900Mb mark. I can't see myself using it enough to warrant a mandatory download. Still no 3D Bluray playback, but its not a bad update. At least now I can change my avatar to a nice, hot, steaming...bowl of beef ramen

Re: Feature: Eight Promising PS4, PS3, and Vita RPGs in 2014

MadchesterManc

@get2sammyb Mugen Souls Z looks like it could be a lot of fun, Fairy Fencer F seems interesting, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth remaster of the original for Vita is gonna be delicious, Disgaea 4 is heading our way too to scratch that Strategy-RPG itch & Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment looks an interesting proposition later in the year...just to name a few localisations at least Theres a tonne of RPG goodness this year, even outside the norm

Re: PS4 Sequel Final Fantasy XV to Flaunt 'Stylish Action'

MadchesterManc

Im more of a traditional turn-based RPG guy myself. The more I hear of FFXV, the more it starts to sound like an action/adventure style is in play A change of pace isnt always a bad thing, but look at the likes of Resident Evil when Capcom revamped the series & went down the 'action' route. I dunno. My interest continues to wane though.

Re: Feature: Kickstarter Monthly Round Up - Issue One

MadchesterManc

Gotta be Hover: Revolt of Gamers, just for looking like its clearly inspired by Sega's forgotten Jet Set Radio series. Hell, the $50,000 goal lists a Hideki Naganuma soundtrack & graffitti hype mode if it hits that.

Other than that would be Source. Always had a soft spot for the artistic & quirky titles

Re: Store Update: 23rd April 2014 (Europe)

MadchesterManc

@get2sammyb 'Putty Squad (PS4 + PS Vita versions)' So the Vita version has launched alongside the digital Ps4 version? Its been available physically on Ps4 for a while, but Vita & Ps3 has always been 'TBC' when Ive enquired. I guess the Vita version is out now via digital means?

Re: Stick It to the Man Is May's European PlayStation Plus Freebie

MadchesterManc

@get2sammyb I dont know how anyone can complain about that, well appart from 'teh indie' game on PS4 Been playing Muramasa recently on the Wii so it'll be good to have that on the go & Puppeteer looks fantastic. The original Payday was woeful so I might skip that. Voted puppeteer A great update for me, even intrigued by the Ps4 update as Im always partial to quirky looking games

Re: UK Sales Charts: FIFA World Cup Falls to Respawn's FPS

MadchesterManc

Its no suprise to see Titanfall still topping the chart. I hear the 360 version is doing quite well, which is no surprise when you consider how much of a good job Bluepoint did with the port. I have started to wonder how the LEGO games keep doing so well and people aren't fatigued from them. It only feels like a couple of months since the LEGO Movie game release lol My purchase for the week was a steel-tinned copy of Killzone: Shadowfall for £9.99. Teh bargainz

Re: Rumour: The Walking Dead Tucks into PS4 from 17th June

MadchesterManc

dem portz! Ps4 only haz da Portz n no gamez couldn't resist lol Ive already played through the first season on PC eons ago so Ill pass on this, although if the price is right I may give it a go. Can't really see it being much of a technical improvement from playing it maxed on PC tho so we'll have to see

Re: This Input Code Adds Credence to the PS4 Port of Beyond: Two Souls

MadchesterManc

Played through Beyond twice now & I'd gladly play through it again on Ps4. Sony's best first-party (I think QD are the only studio not owned by Sony that you'd think were) release last year for me and it would be good to see the entirety of Quantic Dreams engine being used instead of just some of its Ps4 aspects like on the Ps3 version. If you think of it that way, a remaster using the full brunt of their engine would be a nice taster of whats in store from the studio on a technical level with whatever they've got planned next. Now that's intriguing....

Re: So, the PSP Almost Matched the Vita's Sales in USA Last Month

MadchesterManc

@get2sammyb I've noticed there's a few go fans around here It's not for everyone, but those that like it swear by it lol

@Jazzer94 I tend to dump my physical copies so I don't have to carry them around & I have a few digital only releases so it's built in memory is great, lack of UMD drive gives better battery life too. The screen being 1/2 an inch smaller makes things look a tad crisper too while the design of the go with its slide up screen is a lot more pocket friendly. For me it's a step up, but it all depends on how you use it.
