Re: Far Cry 6 Officially Revealed for PS5, PS4

@SoulChimera I'm assuming they were referencing the Xbox One X, from the marketing image. The only thing I could think of, is that if it's all accurate and legit, that maybe because the PS5 is slightly less powerful than Xbox Series X, they need to run at maybe 1800p or something to keep the same graphical settings. Xbox One X, 4k but 22fps with lower than lowest settings. Series X, high settings.

We'll see how it goes, a really weird situation.

@SoulChimera Someone asked "What about PS4/PS5?"

and Ubisoft Support replied (verbatim) "Hey there! As stated on the banner, Far Cry 6 is 4k Ultra HD on Xbox One and Xbox Series X only. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

@Wavey84 You don't want to build one just yet. While there are already several GPUs more powerful than both next gen consoles, the new GPU lines from both card makers are about to launch within a few months. And if leaked specs are anything to go by, they are going to be MONSTERS.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Rockets Straight to the Top of Steam Best-Sellers List

"Enticing PC players to buy a PS5 for the sequel" is a short sighted argument for multiple reasons.

Buying a console for a handful of exclusives over the course of a generation (like I do) iis nowhere near as impactful as everything thinks.

If you're making a console purchase (assuming it's at launch or close to launch) the profit margin for Sony is razor thin, if not a loss. They will only be buying one game every year or 2, whenever an exclusive they like comes out. And not everyone loves every Sony exclusive. They will continue to play almost every game on PC. They will not be buying PS Plus subs, large amounts of games, DLC on every game. Sony will get a single licensing fee from a game purchase every year or 2.

PC gamers will continue to play the vast majority of the games they want to play on PC, they aren't going to completely instantly change their platform of choice to play inferior versions of the majority of their games (not meant as an insult) just because there is 1 game exclusive to a platform every year or 3.

I hope this gives insight into the thought process, as myself and many other PC gamers feel this way.

Re: Gallery: Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots Are Stunning, But How Will It Look on PS4?

@edheym78 Right, AMD's new Navi cards will support hardware based raytracing, but Cyberpunk (relevant example) uses the Nvidia developed RTX designed for their cards. Is there an agreement to block out AMD (like both companies have used to block the other's tech out in the past, although AMD doesn't really have any) or will the game just not be able to support it because of engine/hardware and/or contractual reasons.

AMD have sponsored games to lock out superior Nvidia tech, and anything with Gameworks locks out AMD tech. Will this spill over I wonder.

Re: Gallery: Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots Are Stunning, But How Will It Look on PS4?

There's an important thing no one has mentioned with next gen, and this is a perfect time to bring it up.

Cyberpunk 2077 (on PC at least) uses the Nvidia version of raytracing, RTX, which is only (properly) available to their cards with the dedicated hardware for it. It doesn't support in engine standard raytracing/DXR. How is it going to translate, if at all, when the RTX supported games come to consoles as they're both AMD based units.

It's not a case of just converting it over, it's an entirely different, unique hardware based thing from the ground up.

Not to mention potential financial and/or exclusivity deals.

@Tacktful They won't slow down the loading times just so you can see hints. We've had a meme on PC for nearly 10 years now "game loads so fast from the SSD, I can't read the loading screen hints".
Artificially adding delay would defeat the purpose.

I was very underwhelmed the 3D audio in both the recent stream and the separate test demo, and that is with 3 separate high end sets of headphones. Sure it's better than stereo, but only barely. I'm hoping once I get the console connected up to my real surround sound, it will be different.

@themcnoisy You know they uploaded them in 4k as well right?

I'm ignoring the rest of your fanboy argument on purpose because it's covered in the previous post.

You can feel how you want about it, but "almost perfect" gave me a good laugh.
