Re: Manifold Garden Getting Next-Gen Upgrade, But Only on Xbox for Now

@Ggmate Actually "And experience swinging through New York and combat as an experienced Spider-Man with an optional performance mode that takes advantage of Insomniac’s temporal injection for dynamic 4K/60fps*."

Taken directly from the Playstation Spiderman page.

So no, it can't.

In fact it can't even do 4k/30 in the higher quality mode.

" Experience the critically acclaimed hit with updated graphical assets and in stunning dynamic 4K/HDR*"

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Supports 60 Frames-Per-Second on PS5, Better Load Times

Menchi

@thefourfoldroot Why would no one think that? Spiderman is 2 years old and getting a remaster. Is it because it released so close to the next generation?

Ghosts Of Tsushima launched in July with the PS5 coming in November.

The Last Of Us launched in June with the PS4 coming in November and that got a remaster the following year.

While I'd say there are indicators of both, given the differences of everything involved, I'd put my money on them eventually offering a PS5 remaster (paid with no free upgrade) as well as this PS4 enhanced BC patch. So far we have 1 example for PS4->PS5, and Spiderman's precedent isn't looking like a good thing.

Re: These Are the PS4 Games That Won't Play on PS5

Menchi

@Gamer83 The only PS1 games that didn't work on PS2 (that I know of at least) are MGS Special Missions and GTA London, those only worked if you had the slim, top loading PS2. Anything that was an expansion disc basically.

Re: Western Digital Reveals First PS5 Compatible SSD

@Jaz007 They address this in the Mark Cerny PS5 deep dive from earlier in the year (I rewatched it earlier this week to brush up on the specifics).

He recommend a drive equal to their internal drive (5500mbps) and because of the custom controller having more priority lanes than standard drives, Cerny says you could put in a slightly faster one to compensate for any possible issues that might ever happen. Not that there would be issues if you used a 5500mbps drive, but it's "safety speak".

So the raw speed of 7000mbps can do almost the entire thing that Sony can do compressed. Not to mention you're at least exceeding the Sony drive by 27%.

Compression talk is all smoke and mirrors because it's not an industry standard.

Re: PS5's 3D Audio Will Almost Certainly Work with Your Existing Headphones

Menchi

@710King Good, as long as they support proper outputs and formats I'm happy. Using a headset to game on anything that isn't a handheld is disgusting.

As for Atmos, that's not too bad as the Xbox and my new top end PC will, and I will have a dedicated Atmos output bluray player as well. Just wondering what PS5 games will support. Dolby Master? DTS master? Etc

Edit: I should clarify that my comments on this article are about standard surround output formats, not headphones. Can't seem to find confirmation of announced supported formats for games. Won't be using it as a bluray player.

Re: Rumour: PS5 UI Leak Shows Boot Sequence, 664GB Usable Storage

Menchi

@theheadofabroom I just rewatched it a few minutes ago, the 7000mbps comment he made is practically unrelated so everyone spouting that is entirely wrong. There was absolutely no logical leap to the 7000mbps imo. It's said completely separate. He was comparing max PCIE 3.0 speeds to PCIE 4.0 speeds and made no indication it was related to what was needed.

He did say "at least of equal to speed our drive" and "ideally, slightly faster to make up for any possible issues that might arise due to less priority levels" though. So I can see a 5500 working, and a 6200 being enough to cover bases, 7000+ being overkill.

@Medic_Alert There are 3 announced drives to be available soon with at least 7000mbps read speed (1 is even over 7000).

Semi on topic, I don't remember the the specifics of the Cerny presentation, other than the drive being 5500mbps raw speed. Did he actually say 7000mbps for a compatible drive? I see this quoted all the time but everyone fails to provide a reference.
