Sony being Sony, business as usual. Everyone forgets they're awful at everything except games. And even that is debateable based on Crunchy Dog culture.
@LordSteev Not sure if it's just your wording or you misread the article. It's only UK sales in the article. I doubt it was a 90/10 split in the UK for Sony.
In fact 60% of all sales were not on PS4 and 90% of sales were not on last gen consoles. In fact PC sold more than all consoles combined.
@NEStalgia For lack of a better comparison, I remember trying to play Batman Arkham Knight on Xbox One (got a free copy and it was before the PC port was fixed) and having just came from Arkham City at 120fps, it was unplayable due to lack of responsiveness. I use this comparison since Spiderman is basically a Batmam clone.
Needless to say I gave up within an hour and waited for the PC version to be fixed. Free Xbox One and PC copies ftw.
I will forever consider any game that does not meet the 4 decade old standard of refresh rates (an average screen is 60hz, not the same frame every 2 refresh-hz) sluggish in response. Literal technological standards and my own high standards will not allow it.
@NEStalgia Entirely different medium with entirely different standards. Especially since it was settled on 24fps because of films costs and anything less seemed "fake".
When frames persist on screen longer than they should, it feels sluggish and less responsive. Especially when it doesn't even match the refresh rate of the screen.
As for a 24fps mode, I cannot even begin to state my disdain for the "30fps is more cinematic" people because they've been brainwashed by their marketing overlords. Absolutely disgusting and one of the single worst things to stick in gaming.
@BalsBigBrother This is what I've been doing for every award show since about 2014. Why waste 2+ hours when you can spend them doing something better and get all the same info in 5 minutes after the fact.
@NEStalgia 30fps is not smooth at all. You're looking for "consistent". It's a sluggish mess, but a consistent one (aka free from frame drops or pacing issues). Glad I could help!
I know these make for good clickbait, but as Microsoft have said, they have no say in the matter until at LEAST late 2021 when the deal actually finalises. Despite what Phil Spencer and the board can theorise based on likely plans.
I'm curious to see what all the fuss is about. They've added DS5 to Steam support beta and with each update is has progressively added more and more of the PS5 features. It's only missing the full range of haptic trigger feedback atm but that's coming soon. HZD and Death Stranding support it fully (sans haptic trigger, they just use PS4 trigger) I'll probably wait to play HZD till after I get a PS5 (whenever they launch an exclusive game) and use the DS5 on that.
@pharos_haven It'll make very little sense if you don't play the previous 2. Also by playing the previous 2 you will be disappointed by Exodus because they are far better games. It's almost universally agreed that the switch from tight linear focused stort design to an open world destroyed almost everything that was best about the series.
@get2sammyb Warranties are usually non transferrable and are typically only offered to the purchaser. Officially.
Unofficially:
If the scalper gives you the receipt where they bought it from too though, how are they gonna prove you didn't buy it originally after all. Only catch is if you've no proof of purchase, you might be in trouble.
@carlos82 Have you seen the 6800XT vs 3080 benchmarks today? The new AMD stuff is worthless. Worse in practically every game compared to a 3080. And since the RT is handled in CUs, the 3080 can deliver up to 500% more frames in certain games with raytracing on and without DLSS. Turning on DLSS upscaling widens the gap even more.
Such a shame. I was hoping they'd catch up like they did with intel. The 6900XT will be a good card, if you never want to use raytracing. Basically a dead card.
@TheIdleCritic Agreed. But that sentiment is about 90% of what I've seen so far from various places. Vocal minority is one thing, but when that's the only base for feedback.....
@playstation1995 I'm not saying it's not, I have no personal stake in it since it doesn't appeal to me, not even when it comes to PC down the line. But japanese gamers, who only got the console today/last night, are finally finding out what it's like and aren't happy.
@TheFrenchiestFry We've seen different things then. I saw pages and pages and pages of the game being devoid of what made it Demon's Souls from various parts of the internet.

@LordSteev Again, your wording was all over the place so it was confusing.

Where else would they get sales? Wait until they actually finished developing the game for current gen consoles next year/2022 and release it then.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Hovers Around 720p on PS4, Drops As Low As 15FPS
Game shouldn't be on such low end hardware, end of story.
Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?
It shouldn't be on last gen consoles at all, if you understand anything about hardware.
There is a reason why it was always shown on high end PCs.

Another multiplatform non exclusive game! Like FF16!
Re: Site News: Where's Our Cyberpunk 2077 Review?
CDPR did the smart thing and are not supplying media outlet codes, because they're a joke.
Re: Six Months After Release, The Last of Us 2 Gets a New Story Trailer
@Voltan Can you provide numbers for that? No one can ever seem to provide sales numbers outside the 1st month/few weeks when it comes to TLOU2.

No, because I'm a functioning adult.

Re: Western Digital Reveals First PS5 Compatible SSD
@kraenk12 Raw data transfer rate is slower. Which is the main metric for determining speed. Therefore it's slower.

@S1ayeR74 Almost like they want to give you as much incentive as possible to give up your game rights where they also make the largest profit cut.
Re: Talking Point: What Were Your Most Played PS4 Games?
Only 3 games I can think of that I'd have up there.
Persona 5 Royal: 120 something hours
Persona 5: 102 hours
The Last Of Us Remastered: Probably around the same time
Everything else would be <30 hours

On a good PC with a SATA3 SSD it loads in 3-5 seconds, so expect that much on PS5.

Yikes, that looks horrid.
Re: Retailer Error Revives The Last of Us 2 PS5 Upgrade Dreams
@carlos82 Locked > not locked. And the load time thing. It's nowhere near as much as an improvement as the others, but it's still there.
Horizon though, I don't think got one at all.
Re: Retailer Error Revives The Last of Us 2 PS5 Upgrade Dreams
@carlos82 TLOU1 got that load time patch that also makes the 1800p mode stick to 60fps, since it used to have frame drops on PS4 pro
Re: Retailer Error Revives The Last of Us 2 PS5 Upgrade Dreams
@R1spam Most vocal people will give Naughty Dog a pass, sadly.
Re: Sony: We Don't Like Console Wars, Competition Makes Us Work Harder
Evidenced by last gen where the PS4 trounced Xbox easy and basically did nothing outside the bare minimun.
Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?
@daveofduncan I love it when people get mad for me answering an article literally asking the reader.
Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?
I didn't vote because no option is there for me really.
I cancelled my preorder 2 months ago because there's nothing I wanted to play on it.
