Re: Hello Games Settles No Man's Sky Legal Dispute with Sky

Panic_Attache

@Neolit yeah, I couldn't understand that one either at the time and was surprised how little fight Microsoft put up, was expecting a battle of the corporations.
If your product is going to be on the same shelf, as it were, I get the need for protecting your trademark / copyright but both these disputes had tenuous links at best.
Makes me wonder how the food packaging in lidl gets away with borrowing other brands designs with no arguments.

@Neolit but another lawyer could surely counter by saying that there's a distinction between a space flight exploration game with infinite content and a broadcasting empire with a few new shows and endless adverts.
I had a call from sky ®© this morning asking why I'd decided to not renew my subscription, wish I'd thought of this as a reason like a previous commenter suggested....

Re: Sony Confirms 'High-End' PS4K Exists, Won't Be at E3

Panic_Attache

@Kage_88 I think Nintendo need to start building interest in the NX after disappointing sales of Wii U, whereas Sony don't need to dilute the PS4 brand or confuse potential buyers until they have to.

Sony hold most of the cards this generation, Nintendo just have their character cards left!

Re: Expect a Fallout 4: Far Harbor Performance Improving Patch Next Week on PS4

Panic_Attache

@Kamikaze_Krunch Drive Club is certainly a great example of the impact a disastrous launch can have on a games success and the closing of the company is the ultimate price, though I also think the poor handling of the PS Plus version had a small impact also.
So in terms of numbers sold you're probably right but if profits don't take a major hit the practice of patching unfinished or broken games post release will continue. I don't think Battlefield 4 had a good start but that franchise continues.
In short, I feel it's only fair for review scores to reflect the issues the reviewer experienced and a revised score if and when the game is fixed seems sensible.

Re: Your June PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Revealed

@carlos82 Bought Bloodborne in the sale and absolutely loving it, even though my actual progress is tortuously slow. One of the only times buying a game as a download has had the positive effect of not being able to give up and trade in as soon as I realise I'm not good immediately! May approach DS3 the same way.

Re: Evidence for Supercharged PS4.5 Console Mounts

Panic_Attache

I wonder what impact this will have on initial sales of the PS5, whenever that may / does happen? Will people be so quick to buy "day 1" or hang back a year or so and see what new, improved version may appear.
The knowledge that your console purchase "future proofed" your gaming needs for 5+ years is a key factor for me and would make me think twice in the future.

Re: Your Free PlayStation Plus Games Are Available Now

Panic_Attache

Tried all three on PS4 and only Galak Z has survived an initial play. BroForce seemed pointless and didn't like controls (maybe better suited to a keyboard, I don't know) and Flame Over was just awful at everything. Possibly the worst month of PS+ in a long while.

Re: Review: Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Awakening (PS4)

@Boerewors Core gamers hated the Wii? How do you figure that? It was home to some excellent games, admittedly the majority first party, but it can hardly be blamed for the influx and increase in pricing for DLC and season passes.
Many indie developed games are starting to increase in price, and I think that were it not for the DLC market, most AAA titles would be £60 or more. The additional content model is effectively subsidising the current £40 pricing point.

Re: Feature: 20 Japanese PS4 Games to Watch in 2016

Panic_Attache

Seems odd that it's often Western game developers that get accused of lacking originality or retreading the same tired ground whilst lists like this get such a positive reaction.
I'm sure I'll buy a couple of the games mentioned but style & genre wise it's hardly inspiring!

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Bloodborne (PS4)

Panic_Attache

Bought it but just couldn't get to grips with it, felt no desire to persevere and so back to the shop I went to shamefully trade it in. All these words of praise and endless accolades tempt me to try again but have a nagging feeling it's just not for me.

Re: Review: Bloodborne: The Old Hunters (PS4)

@whizzkidd you're not alone, have never been able to find the appeal of this or the Souls games. It's not the difficulty that puts me off as much as the opaqueness of the whole experience. I keep trying to find what so many others find so special but just find it a joyless task and don't want to admit defeat by trading in, like I did with Dark Souls!

Re: Poll: How Well Is Fallout 4 Running on Your PS4?

Panic_Attache

I'm amazed how the save game files are so small, with so much going on. No major bugs, crashed once whilst moving furniture, few frame rate drops but not much else (touch wood).
Feel the game throws too many features at you in a short space of time and for once would have appreciated a few tutorials!
