Yes, I'm still playing. Haven't had that much fun in ages. I was laughing tears the other night. I don't even remember when this happened the last time.
It's a 9 for me, currently, until Arrowhead irons out the bugs.
It's a 10, fun-wise, and the base and potential of the game makes me very excited to see where this will go in a couple of months.
I haven't had this much fun playing a multiplayer game (or any game) since the golden days where I was playing Destiny 1 with a regular fireteam. Helldivers 2 literally reignited my love for gaming.
Personally, I'm very happy with the swap. I was looking forward to the racer anyways, but had practically zero interest in PES. I have been interested to check out Detroit since launch, though, so for me, this month is very good. π
@BearsEatBeets I've been wondering that myself...from the technical side of things, I'm sure it would be no problem to also unlock the PS5 version of the game as soon as it becomes available, when you originally bought the PS4 version on the PSN store...much like getting multiple versions for cross buy titles for Vita/PS4.
I'm guessing that whether Sony will charge us twice will also strongly depend on how MS will handle the matter. Microsoft has been very user friendly when it comes to Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. If you bought the game already on the 360, you can just re-download it on the One or pop in the original disk and are good to go. No paying twice.
If they keep that up, Sony will have to follow to avoid a PR nightmare.
Not knowing the answer will make me reluctant to buy games for the PS4 at some point, because in most cases I'd rather wait for the PS5 version of a cross gen title, rather than playing the inferior PS4 version.
That said, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding and The Last of Us 2 are games I'd buy twice if I had to, because I absolutely want to play them day one.
Looked okay, but sadly, more underwhelming than not. By the book location, uninspired combat and uninspired setting. And sadly, judging from this, the character seems a boring, uninspired high school jock.
Don't get me wrong, I want to like this game. I love Star Wars and I think Titanfall 2 is one of the best games of this gen, so I'm going to give Respawn the benefit of the doubt for now, but nothing I saw so far inspires much confidence.
And what the hell was wrong with this cringe-inducing, forced over the top host?! The snow he's been playing in sure hasn't been from Hoth, if you get my drift...
As long as it's purely optional, I don't mind streaming tech in my next console. Giving people choice is a good thing. Might even work fine for games that don't rely on low lag like RPGs or turn based strategy.
Personally, I'll always prefer playing on local hardware, either with a disk or a download. As soon as this option isn't offered anymore, I'm done with gaming. Streaming only will never be for me.
I was unsure about which feature I appreciate most. I'm happy about the bc and the ray tracing, but realistically, I'll rarely play PS4 games, once my PS5 has a big enough library.
I went for SSD. When thinking about what annoyed me the most in current gen games, it's the frequent and long loading times some games have. Putting a SSD into the PS4 Pro only helps a bit, because it's not able to take full advantage of a SSD's speed. If the PS5 would fix this? Yes, please!
@LieutenantFatman @viciousarcanum Possible, but they did have a Titanfall mobile game out for a while and discontinued it, so I'm not sure. Considering Titanfall 2 was, for me, one of the best games this gen and one of the very best shooters of the last decade, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and keep a very interested eye on their future projects.
I agree that a VR game where you steer a Titan would be perfect...and I don't even have VR.
@bindiana That's because it IS the last month for PS3 and Vita games. From March 2019 onwards, PS+ will not include games for PS3 and Vita anymore. You can of course still play those in your library.
@Octane But games are getting more expensive, no doubt about it. And yes, companies are reporting obscene profits, true...and again, I am absolutely against MTX in single player, campaign-driven games...or selling part of the game as DLC in those. Also, I despise the pay to win bullcrap EA pulled with Star Wars Battlefront 2. But with purely cosmetic stuff that doesn't affect gameplay in a game like Anthem, that has to maintain a server backend and pay a team that's going to add more content for the game over time? With this I have no problem. Again, vote with your wallet if you find it to expensive. As I said, I can't see myself shelling out real money for cosmetics. I'm sure I'll enjoy the game regardless.
@nathanSF Yeah, agreed. I can understand most of the hate. EA has a long history of scummy practices, no doubt...but I also have the impression that many don't want to give Anthem a fair chance because of EA. I think, as I said, that Biowares approach to MTX in Anthem is as reasonable as possible, all circumstances considered. I hope the game does well. The core gameplay is a blast, so if the endgame in Anthem is strong and Bioware supports the game as promised, I can see myself playing this for a long time. I have a bunch of friends ready for co-op for sure.
@Flaming_Kaiser But it is a simple fact that games development has become way more expensive. And even at a 100,- for a complete edition, games haven't gotten that much more expensive, compared to the days of old.
In the end, we could argue all day...it comes down to "vote with your wallet". Most games are heavily shortly after launch, so if a game seems to expensive, wait or don't buy. I think mtx have no place in single player games like Spider-Man or GOW, but when an online service game like Anthem does them cosmetically to support the infrastructure, I'm okay with it. To each their own...
@redd214 Same. Titanfall 2 had comparable MTX and other than two prime titan skins I bought, I never bothered to pay for any cosmetics. Still one of my most favourite games this generation. Can't imagine I'll buy much in Anthem, but I'm absolutely sure I'll enjoy this game very much.
@mrbone Thank you! This! This is a thing most people seem to conveniently ignore.
Game prices hardly rose overall over the last decades or so, and while games used to be made by relatively small teams, they are often multi-million dollar affairs with team sizes in the hundreds behind them. Granted, more people in general buy games than ever before, but still, game companies are in for a profit.
I'm not trying to defend scummy and shady loot box practices, that is just wrong and basically gambling while bypassing the laws normally regulating gambling. But in case of an always online game like Anthem, that's built as a games as a service model, being supported over a long time, being evolved and expanded? You have to have a stream of revenue to support this. Bioware stated there would be no loot boxes, no paid levels or DLC and no season pass or such for gameplay-affecting stuff so to not divide the community. I think that's a good approach.
So there's going to be expensive vanity items in the game. Figures. Good way to make a buck. If you don't like it, don't buy it, easy as that. It won't affect your gameplay if you don't have it, and apparently, lots of customisation options can als be earned by simply playing the game and completing challenges.
Plus, I'm guessing there's going to be 5he occasional sale, both for the premium currency and also the vanity items.
Personally, I had a blast with the demo, despite the glitches, and I really can't wait for the full game.
I had some technical issues. Some enemies glitching, some synch issues and some infinite loading screens, but when the game worked, I had a blast, especially with a friend. Very much looking forward to the full game!
I can understand the frustration of those having too many problems to actually play and enjoy the demo, but I'd rather this demo and the one next weekend is used as a last stress test for the servers to iron out any issues before the game goes live.
I have no doubt the technical issues will be resolved in time, so I'm sure this game will scratch my Destiny itch.
@Jon_P It has already been confirmed that there will be no PvP mode in Anthem, at least for a time well after launch, so if an online PvP shooter is what you're looking for, Anthem is not for you. PvE co-op only...
@3MonthBeef To each their own, I guess. I can see where you're coming from, but for me personally, I'd have zero interest in Anthem if it was a high fantasy game...but a game that basically lets me be Iron Man? Sign me up! Actually, I did sign up...I've the Legion of Dawn edition on preorder.
@FullbringIchigo Sadly, you're absolutely right with everything you said. Still, the fact that Bioware spoke out so firmly against loot boxes and DLC scams leaves me at least moderately hopeful this game will not be a complete flustercuck, DLC-wise, because personally, I like what I've seen so far. I want this game to be good!
What EA did with everything Star Wars is nothing but a shame. "Single player gamed are dead!" Riiiight... π
@FullbringIchigo @Luna-Harmony @BowTiesAreCool Bioware went on record several times stating that there will be no loot boxes in the game and no season pass. There will be MTX, but they will be cosmetic and you'll see what you'll buy beforehand, so: no rng and hoping for the stuff you want. All levels, weapons and expansions that may be released will be free for all olayers. The only exception may be that they may release additional javelins as DLC later on, but that's not decided yet.
I have yet to upgrade to 4K. For the longest time, relatively high prices and insecurity concerning technical standards have put me off.
I think I'll upgrade to 4K together with my new PS5 when it launches. That way, it'll make the new system seem even more amazing, when, together with the improved graphics, I'll get to experience HDR and the increased resolution for the first time!
Plus, by then a good 65" 4K with proper HDR and VRR should be absolutely affordable.
I loved JC 2. One of my favourite games of last gen. Sadly, I felt rather burned and underwhelmed by JC3, plus it ran messy and the load times and constant online only made it worse.
I'm cautiously optimistic, but after getting JC3 day one, I'm not getting this one before it's heavily discounted.
I'm very much looking forward to Anthem. It has the potential to be very good. Plus, the visuals are gorgeous and Bioware already confirmed that there's no loot boxes. You'll know what you'll pay for, every MTX is going to be cosmetic and everything can also be earned in game. All levels and such are going to be free, except maybe some new much suits sometimes down the line. Sounds good to me.
Yeah, I'll get it. Love me some superhero stuff and thoroughly enjoyed 2nd Son. But I'll wait for a good sale. It's rare that I'm willing to pay 70 Euro or more for a game on launch, so I have no problem to wait a couple of month.
Naw, no thanks. It seems I'm done with Destiny for good. I did check out the Solstice grind, but I'm not willing to pay any more for any DLC. Maybe in 2 years when I can get the ultra complete edition for 15 bucks...but 40 for Forsaken and I don't know how much for the stuff that follows? No. Uninstalled the game today and actually felt freed and relieved.
And I'll surely won't buy a potential Destiny 3 until at least 6 month after its launch, when a realistic judgment of the game is possible. I'll never trust Bungle enough again for a day 1 purchase.
This sounds good. Haven't been interested in an AC game since...AC 2? Always seemed just more of the same. Liked the pirate stuff in Black Flag, but was bored by the AC part.
This sounds interesting and changed enough. And the ancient Greek-setting sounds intriguing, too. Not for day 1, but for the complete edition in a good sale.
Yeah, looks cool, but in my case it's too little, too late. I loved Destiny 1 for a significant time and enjoyed Destiny 2 for some time as well...but as you guys said, the grind got pointless.
Plus, considering the underwhelming two expansions so far, I have little faith in Forsaken...not the least because of the ridiculous price...and the fact that Destiny 2 is basically a reskinned Destiny 1. All those millions of dollars, a sequel and two expansions and Bungie didn't even manage at least one genuinely new enemy type? Just reskinned enemies from D1?
Nah, I'll pass on Forsaken for now. Maybe I'll get the super complete edition in 2 years or so to see what I might have missed...but I'll be damned if I'll ever again pay full price for anything Destiny.
@adf86 But since, thanks to bc on the X1, you can play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One without extra costs outside of the Game Pass, as long as you have originally bought the bc 360 game on disk or digitally, Sony effectively does make you pay to be able to play PS3 games on PS4. I know it's due to the very complex nature of the cell that we'll most likely never see a "just pop your PS3 disk into your PS4 and play" situation, but still...
@verynaughtyboy @Neolit Yeah, right there with you, boys! I loved JC 2. One of my favourite games of last gen, so pre-ordering JC 3 with season pass and all seemed like a no brainer to me...I mean, what could go wrong, right? Just more of the same on a beefier system would've been fine for me. But JC dropped the ball. Thoroughly. I even think the sound effects for the explosions were worse in 3. They seemed to have more punch in 2.
So yeah, fool me once...I really hope JC 4 will be good and I'll gladly buy it if it is...but not on day 1 and not for full price.
@BAMozzy I want to thank you again for all the effort you put into your replies to various topics on technology, man. This site and it's readers are lucky to have you and your expertise. I'm sure I'll hit you up when it's time to upgrade my TV.
Also, you should totally do an article on TV tech when the PS5 gets around.
Damn, this looks good. I found FC5s setting quite intriguing from the get go, but I'm almost even more interested in the stuff that comes with the season pass. Now this. Gawd help me, but by now I'm seriously considering buying day 1, season pass and all.
@carlos82 I don't always comment. But when I do, it's to congratulate contributions like yours! π
In all seriousness, though: as crazy as the idea is MS buying EA initially seems, it does make some crazy sense, as you said. It's obvious M&S is already heading towards Xbox as a brand/library across multiple devices and away from a focus on hardware per se. The hardware is just the means to access your games, at the quality level you're willing to pay for.
I find the idea of at least being able to play three generations of games on the current Xbox pretty awesome, and I can't see MS abandoning this whenever their next system comes out. I expect them to make sure that all future Xbox systems are able to run the existing library that's running right now on the Xbox One (X).
I surely hope Sony will follow suit with the PS5 and make sure the whole PS4 library I acquired runs on it. If not, I'll get me a PS5 cheap at some point and go Xbox for the multiplats.
So yeah, in light of Xbox going more in the library/service direction, this would make sense. Sorry for the wall of text.
I think holidays 2019 is realistic. Digital Foundry did a good article a while back about when the required tech to allow the significant technical leap that Cerny deems necessary for a next gen PlayStation would become cheap enough for Sony to be able to sell the PS5 around that 399,- sweet spot.
It might be 2018, but I think that would be to early, both for many consumers and from the price for tech perspective. 2020 or later might be too late and Sony may lose too much good will compared to MS. Plus, as @BAMozzy said, Sony needs a true 4K console on the market that doesn't struggle with 4K at a decent framerate, because I agree that 4K uptake among gamers will be higher than among the general population. So I think end of 2019 would be the sweet spot.
@BAMozzy Sorry for off topic, but I want to thank you for your profound and level-headed contributions on this site. Always enjoy reading them.
Yup, that's definitely good news as far as I am concerned. As the Rok said it remains to be seen how much of an impact he'll be allowed to have, but I loved ME 1 and 2 and his novels, so there's hope.
Yes, I think there should be a possibility for an uncomplicated refund. Of course there would be the possibility for abuse, but I agree with the notion that most customers wouldn't abuse the system.
I buy my games digitally, and I tried to get a refund for Drive Club at launch, but the German PSN customer support proved to be uncooperative back then and in the end, I just gave up, being left with the feeling that Sony doesn't care about good service.
A possibility for refund should be part of any modern digital store and I think it's about time Sony implements this function, especially now that MS does it. I love my PS4 Pro, but I still think that Xbox live is superior to PSN and this is just one more thing proving that Sony has to step up their game.
Should Sony be worried? Not really. As others have said, games are king and in that regard Sony has the upper hand. And I also think Sony will watch the Scorpio closely and then counter with a vastly more powerful PS 5 in late 2018 or 2019.
Nonetheless, I'm quite interested in the Scorpio. I love my PS 4 Pro and the exclusives, but there's already a good handful of exclusives on the X1 I'd love to play and it's only going to be more with time. Also, potentially playing the better version of 3rd party games has its appeal to me. Not to forget the better quality of Xbox live compared to PSN. And all those Xbox 360 games...
I'll also watch very closely how Sony will handle backwards compatibility in the future...since I recon future Xbox consoles will all be able to play the Xbox library, I expect the PS 5 to be able to play my entire PS 4 library. If not, I'll definitely switch to Xbox for all my 3rd party needs and buy an eventual PS 5 for the exclusives when it's cheap.
Excellent! Considering my backlog and current financial situation, I'll get around to play this game in about 6 month. By then, it'll be a way cheaper and vastly superior experience than today.
I'm not even cynical here...quite looking forward to play this. Just glad they'll have time to patch out some of the rough spots by then.
Fantastic news! I don't have a PS4 right now, but I'll get a Pro soon. This will surely be one of the first games I'll fire up...even though I don't have a HDR TV...yet. π
@Flopsy Yeah, I hope Alienation gets a patch as well...I'm sure it would look amazing in HDR, also, the framerate tanks badly sometimes on the vanilla PS4 when things get hectic.
Titanfall 2. Will try to wrap up the campaign on Master and also go for those two gauntlet trophies, which would get me the platinum. Also as much of TF2 mp as I can squeeze in...trying to get the level up again after regeneration.
I agree with the release window probably having hurt the game's sales quite a bit. Shame, really, because I haven't had that much fun with a game (both sp and mp) in a long time.
Let's hope that the positive reviews and word of mouth will get Titanfall the audience it deserves eventually, because I'd love to play more games in this lore and universe.
@BLP_Software Sorry, but not really a constructive comment. The article even states that streaming via PC was and is a viable option. But for those of us who don't have a PC capable of running a stream or shy away from the extra cost, I think this added option in the Pro is a nice touch.
@themcnoisy @Kyroki I can't recommend Titanfall 2 enough. Really enjoyable campaign and hands down the best multiplayer I've played for the last 10 years or so. If you decide to jump in, hit me up.
@get2sammyb Thanks for the article, sir! Although it will most probably be outdated by the time I can afford a Pro and a 4K TV, I appreciate all the hard work the Pushsquare team pour into the site.
You guys have been getting some flak, lately, for supposedly posting click bait and such, but I've been with the site since shortly before the announcement of the PS4 and for me, it remains the best, fairest and most grounded source for everything PlayStation.
So, thanks to all of you for your amazing work and keep 'em coming!
@themcnoisy I am not completely sure about cosmetic stuff in the game, like new decals and customization for the pilots, titans and weapons in the game, so some of those may be sold in the future (although there's loads of those in the game that can be unlocked just by playing the game), but Respawn has confirmed several times that there will definitely be no season pass and that all future maps, game modes and additional weapons for mp will be free for everybody to not divide the community.

"Single player gamed are dead!" Riiiight... π
Re: ANTHEM Gets 15 Minutes of Uninterrupted Early Mission Gameplay
@FullbringIchigo @Luna-Harmony @BowTiesAreCool Bioware went on record several times stating that there will be no loot boxes in the game and no season pass. There will be MTX, but they will be cosmetic and you'll see what you'll buy beforehand, so: no rng and hoping for the stuff you want. All levels, weapons and expansions that may be released will be free for all olayers. The only exception may be that they may release additional javelins as DLC later on, but that's not decided yet.
Re: Sony Showed Gran Turismo Sport Running in 8K at 120 Frames-Per-Second
I have yet to upgrade to 4K. For the longest time, relatively high prices and insecurity concerning technical standards have put me off.
I think I'll upgrade to 4K together with my new PS5 when it launches. That way, it'll make the new system seem even more amazing, when, together with the improved graphics, I'll get to experience HDR and the increased resolution for the first time!
Plus, by then a good 65" 4K with proper HDR and VRR should be absolutely affordable.
Re: Just Cause 4's Cinematic Trailer Turns Up the Volume
I loved JC 2. One of my favourite games of last gen. Sadly, I felt rather burned and underwhelmed by JC3, plus it ran messy and the load times and constant online only made it worse.
I'm cautiously optimistic, but after getting JC3 day one, I'm not getting this one before it's heavily discounted.
Re: ANTHEM Development Is Going Well, Game's Fully Playable in Alpha
I'm very much looking forward to Anthem. It has the potential to be very good. Plus, the visuals are gorgeous and Bioware already confirmed that there's no loot boxes. You'll know what you'll pay for, every MTX is going to be cosmetic and everything can also be earned in game. All levels and such are going to be free, except maybe some new much suits sometimes down the line. Sounds good to me.
Re: Poll: Are You Buying Marvel's Spider-Man?
Yeah, I'll get it. Love me some superhero stuff and thoroughly enjoyed 2nd Son. But I'll wait for a good sale. It's rare that I'm willing to pay 70 Euro or more for a game on launch, so I have no problem to wait a couple of month.
Re: Massive Destiny 2 Patch 2.0 Is Out Now on PS4
Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey's Mercenary System Sounds Super Cool
This sounds good. Haven't been interested in an AC game since...AC 2? Always seemed just more of the same. Liked the pirate stuff in Black Flag, but was bored by the AC part.
This sounds interesting and changed enough. And the ancient Greek-setting sounds intriguing, too. Not for day 1, but for the complete edition in a good sale.
Re: God of War 'Significantly Exceeded Expectations', Says Sony
@Neolit But we were always at war with Eurasia! Also, we should celebrate the Big Brother for raising the chocolate rations!
Re: Bungie Seems to Be Stepping It Up with Destiny 2: Forsaken Exotics
Sorry for the rant.
Re: Report: PlayStation Now to Add Downloads This Year
@adf86 But since, thanks to bc on the X1, you can play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One without extra costs outside of the Game Pass, as long as you have originally bought the bc 360 game on disk or digitally, Sony effectively does make you pay to be able to play PS3 games on PS4. I know it's due to the very complex nature of the cell that we'll most likely never see a "just pop your PS3 disk into your PS4 and play" situation, but still...
Re: E3 2018: Now Just Cause 4 Has Leaked Via Steam Advert
Re: Guide: The Best 4K TVs for PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro
@BAMozzy I want to thank you again for all the effort you put into your replies to various topics on technology, man. This site and it's readers are lucky to have you and your expertise. I'm sure I'll hit you up when it's time to upgrade my TV.
Also, you should totally do an article on TV tech when the PS5 gets around.
I for one welcome our new TV overlord!
Re: Far Cry Arcade Is Far Cry 5's Map Editor, Looks Bananas
Damn, this looks good. I found FC5s setting quite intriguing from the get go, but I'm almost even more interested in the stuff that comes with the season pass. Now this. Gawd help me, but by now I'm seriously considering buying day 1, season pass and all.
Re: Ridiculous Rumour Suggests Microsoft Is Eyeing Up EA
Re: Talking Point: PS5 Release Date - When Will Sony's Next-Gen Console Launch?
Re: E3 2017: We Just Got a Little More Hyped for ANTHEM
What @BAMozzy said.
Re: E3 2017: We Just Got a Little More Hyped for ANTHEM
Yup, that's definitely good news as far as I am concerned. As the Rok said it remains to be seen how much of an impact he'll be allowed to have, but I loved ME 1 and 2 and his novels, so there's hope.
Re: Poll: Should Sony Be Looking to Add Refunds to PSN?
Re: Reaction: Will Sony Be Scared of the Xbox Scorpio?
Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda Is Getting a Huge Game-Improving Patch This Week
Excellent! Considering my backlog and current financial situation, I'll get around to play this game in about 6 month. By then, it'll be a way cheaper and vastly superior experience than today.
I'm not even cynical here...quite looking forward to play this. Just glad they'll have time to patch out some of the rough spots by then.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 162
Finally getting around to play Horizon ZD...I'm a couple of hours in and I love it so far!
Re: Resogun Returns with PS4 Pro Update
Fantastic news! I don't have a PS4 right now, but I'll get a Pro soon. This will surely be one of the first games I'll fire up...even though I don't have a HDR TV...yet. π
@Flopsy Yeah, I hope Alienation gets a patch as well...I'm sure it would look amazing in HDR, also, the framerate tanks badly sometimes on the vanilla PS4 when things get hectic.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 144
Titanfall 2. Will try to wrap up the campaign on Master and also go for those two gauntlet trophies, which would get me the platinum. Also as much of TF2 mp as I can squeeze in...trying to get the level up again after regeneration.
Re: EA Says It's Committed to the Titanfall Franchise
I agree with the release window probably having hurt the game's sales quite a bit. Shame, really, because I haven't had that much fun with a game (both sp and mp) in a long time.
Let's hope that the positive reviews and word of mouth will get Titanfall the audience it deserves eventually, because I'd love to play more games in this lore and universe.
Re: Live Streaming Gets a Lot of Love on PS4 Pro
@BLP_Software Sorry, but not really a constructive comment. The article even states that streaming via PC was and is a viable option. But for those of us who don't have a PC capable of running a stream or shy away from the extra cost, I think this added option in the Pro is a nice touch.
Re: Review: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (PS4)
@themcnoisy @Kyroki I can't recommend Titanfall 2 enough. Really enjoyable campaign and hands down the best multiplayer I've played for the last 10 years or so. If you decide to jump in, hit me up.

Re: Guide: The Best 4K UHD HDR TVs for PS4 Pro in 2016
@get2sammyb Thanks for the article, sir!
Re: Feature: How PS4 Pro Will Bring Bullshot Quality Visuals to Your Home
@DualWielding It is officially confirmed for several games, even older ones like Shadow of Mordor.
Re: Video: Having a Ball with Titanfall 2 on PS4
@themcnoisy I am not completely sure about cosmetic stuff in the game, like new decals and customization for the pilots, titans and weapons in the game, so some of those may be sold in the future (although there's loads of those in the game that can be unlocked just by playing the game), but Respawn has confirmed several times that there will definitely be no season pass and that all future maps, game modes and additional weapons for mp will be free for everybody to not divide the community.
