Re: When Will PS5 Exclusives Drop in Price on PS Store?

Ryall

Whilst there are people who are willing to pay full price but haven’t been able to find a PS5 yet I think the prices will remain high.

No point leaving money on the table by giving a discount to someone you don’t need to just because of scarcity of the console.

Re: Soapbox: 69% of PlayStation's Revenue Is Driven by PS Store, But the Shopping Experience Sucks

Ryall

As a curated store it’s not bad. It certainly doesn’t function as a means of discovering games or have any inbuilt reviewing structure. But I can find out what I want to buy from third-party websites like push-square and then it functions perfectly well to sell it to me .

If I were you guys I’ll be careful about wishing for a steam like store that works out what you want to play next and gives you a review for it.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

Ryall

@thefourfoldroot We’ve seen plenty of examples of sports league where it’s a show with nothing at steak. It tends to result in lower player wages less investment in grassroots and more profit for owners.

I can certainly see why fans of clubs going down that route would be upset.

Re: Sony's $1.1 Billion Buyout of Crunchyroll to Face Further Scrutiny

Ryall

@nessisonett it’s all about how you define the market. Microsoft now has quite a large part of the first person western RPG market but a very small part of a video game market. Similarly if this goes through Sony will have quite a large part of the anime market but a small part of the video streaming market. Personally I’m not really worried about either.

Re: Marvel's Avengers (PS5) - Heroic Makeover Still Needed

Ryall

I really enjoyed what I played of it but I got to a point where it said I wasn’t powerful enough to do the next campaign mission and I didn’t feel like grinding. I would have put in a lot more hours if it was a linear experience like to Tomb Raider.

Re: Reaction: Japan Studio's Disbandment Is Disappointing, But Not Surprising

Ryall

Japan Studio’s needed to be split up into a number of more manageable entities. Team ASOBI and the third-party support team are clearly two of them. But I would’ve hoped they could’ve produced other teams as well definitely a horror team maybe an RPG team and a 2-D platform team.

Whilst they certainly needed to do something for way they’ve gone about it seems overly destructive and they certainly lost talented people. Who produce games but I’ve enjoyed in the past.

Sony scale have now reduced and lots of franchises have ceased just as Nintendo and Microsoft a scaling up. Whilst gravity rush wasn’t a commercial success it’s clear that the team made it was talented and their next IP could’ve been a big franchise. Trying to cut down to a core of what is already commercially successful means that you don’t get the next big thing.

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Has Kept Me Glued to My Next-Gen Console

Ryall

I’ve mostly been playing PlayStation five games starting with Astro Bots and Bug Snacks. I’ve also completed pathless and sack boys big adventure. But having given up on Immortals Phoenix rising and Demon souls. I’m aware that when I complete Spider-Man it’s going to be PS4 games all the way down after that. With the possible exception of Maneater.

Re: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Sells Over 300,000 Copies, Deserves a Lot More

Ryall

My game of the year last year. To understand what it is I would recommend reading a full review rather than relying on simple terms like real time RPG with slow time when issuing orders, Tower defence , sides scroller. It’s got a lot of different elements combined together in a unique way.

It has a lot of story but it’s not told in the way I would consider to be a visual novel. You’re choosing who to talk to and what to say. Rather than watching a cut out.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 357

Ryall

@sentiententity You can use your human forms dash ability to pass through the lasers. Definitely a significant difficulties spike at the end. I’m on what I think is the final bosses fourth attack pattern and I’m still trying to work out how to damage him in that one. I’m sure I’ll get there eventually.

Re: Game of the Year: #10 - The Pathless

Ryall

Nothing else quite like it and definitely one of my favourites it’s fourth on my personal game of the year list. I ended up one trophy short of the platinum. Somewhere in that world there is a tablet with some law on it that I haven’t read. I’m fairly certain I’ve done everything else.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Top 13 Million Despite Refunds

Ryall

Most video games are sold on reputation rather than reviews or actual knowledge of the state of the game. Assassins Creed unity and Tomb Raider angel of darkness both also sold well but turned fans of the series and therefore all subsequent games sold less well. I suspect whatever CD project red puts out next is going to bomb.

Re: PS5 Doesn't Support Save Transfers via USB

Ryall

They really don’t want any PS5 related data on anything other than the SSD soldered to a PS5’s motherboard or Sony is own servers. I suspect it’s to keep data miners away from their games and save data.

Re: Sony Stresses Japan Is of Utmost Importance After Report Claims Company's Interest Has Drifted

Ryall

Whilst I would never consider Bloomberg’s reports to be any more accurate than a random guess let’s think about this on a theoretical basis.

1. Microsoft has just spent 7.5 billion acquiring new studios and Sony is also looking to acquire new studios an increase in spending on game development.

2. Most of its major hits in recent years have come from American and European developers.eg Ghost of Tsushima has outperformed Gravity Rush.

It might well be that Japan studios is not the current priority for expansion particular given it’s recently expanded. But I seriously doubt it’s going to contract given that both Sony and their main competitor are in the process of scaling up development.

It’s also possible that Sony development priority in Japan is mobile. Given the vast profits that they are making in that area.
