Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5 Games of 2024

Toadie

@rusty82 same mate, i just wish people would enjoy what they enjoy and let everyone else do the same, regardless of genre, age rating, console or company that made it, gaming is just another hobby at the end of the day, could you imagine people in other hobbies acting this way ? How dare you be into crochet, all crafters should be card-makers ! haha

Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5 Games of 2024

@PsBoxSwitchOwner It's just this one guy who is going absolutely ballistic that Astro Bot is winning GOTY awards, he seems to despise the game for some odd reason, here's one of his comments -

"Push Square what?
No. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦
Of course we f*cking don’t.
It’s running and jumping for coins.
It’s nothing more than an interactive advertisement for PlayStation made for 5 year olds.
It’s a child’s toy.
Clearly you have no respect for gaming or gamers."

Literally everyone is ripping into him but no, they are all wrong and he is right lol

Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS5 Games of 2024

Toadie

Oh god, this'll set that AD Gaming guy off again, check out Push Square's facebook posts if you don't know who i'm referring to, and want a good laugh

I'm playing through Astro Bot now, it's just pure fun to play, the most inventive game that's been released in a good while, and as someone who's been craving a new Ape Escape game for literally decades at this point, that one level dedicated to it made me very happy, hopefully it's a sign of what might be to come ! (Wishful thinking i know lol)

Re: Publishing Exec Claims 'There Are Too Many Games'

Toadie

Were they around during the PS2 days ? lol

Back then trying to get your game noticed if you weren't one of the bigger publishers really was a challenge, with no option to go indie, no promotion through direct-style presentations and on consoles with smaller attach rates, add to the fact that the market was very rigid in price setting, your game could either be full-priced or try to be part of the cheap- budget-priced market, with no in between.

Discoverability seems to be much easier these days and i feel like gamers in general are much more likely to try unusual or niche games than they used to be, so i'm not sure i agree.

In fact i think that the majority of companies output has slowed to a crawl these past few years with almost every company having many dormant franchises they just don't have enough developers to keep in active rotation all at the same time.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for January 2024 Announced

Toadie

@Northern_munkey Thanks, i already do haha My PS4 had a faulty disc drive that constantly spat the discs out making it impossible to play so i've got a big backlog of exclusives from that era to play through even without the native PS5 games, Miles Morales is next on my list to play.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Black Friday Hands Sony Games Big Sales Spikes

Toadie

It's so great to see Nintendo dominating the UK charts these days, after them struggling in the Wii U era, i haven't started Violet yet as i've been finishing Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which is absolutely phenomenal and a reminder that Nintendo really make the best games in the business, no-one else comes close.

Re: Random: EA Gets Destroyed for Trying to Meme About Single-Player Games on Twitter

Toadie

EA's hatred of single-player games has always puzzled me, they go through these phases of trying to make them go extinct, then realise that their studios are actually quite good at making them, put out some great SP games, then try and destroy them again lol

The 360/PS3 era was classic for this, they really gained some goodwill in releasing the Dead Space and Mass Effect trilogies, Dante's Inferno, Alice:Madness Returns etc and then went back to being......well, EA lol

Re: Capcom Plans to Release 'Major New Games' This Fiscal Year Amid Record Profits

Toadie

I'd love for Okamiden to get a remake, Okami has actually sold decently well what with all its various ports over the years so an Okamiden remake would be a nice way to test the waters to see if there's demand for a sequel.

Also, Megaman X9 ! but i'm really dreaming on that one lol

Heck, i may as well go full-on with my wishes, gimme Zack & Wiki 2 Capcom.........yeah now i'm really reaching haha

Re: Rumour: PS Plus Premium's PS1, PS2, PSP Games Have Started to Leak

Toadie

I wonder if we'll be able to use the second analogue stick for PSP games like we could on Vita ? I'm hoping it'll also be possible to play all these games via remote play as they're being released on PS4 as well as 5, if nothing is done to make the games look better they're going to look rough blown up on tv but would look better on a PS Vita.

Re: E3 2022 Has Been Completely Cancelled

Toadie

I'm sad it won't be on this year but look forward to its return in 2023, i don't really understand the desperation of sites like this to see E3 go the way of the dodo but i don't think that's going to happen, even the worst E3 has been better than Sony's dreadfully dull State Of Play 'showcases'.

Re: PS Plus Looks Like a Steal When Compared to New Xbox Live Gold Prices

Toadie

Wow that is a ridiculous price hike ! I used to subscribe to both Live and PS Plus but decided last year to try and cut down on subs and looked carefully at both but ultimately decided to keep PS Plus and let my Live lapse, for a few reasons.

One, unlike PS+ i get to keep the sizable amount of OG Xbox and 360 games after the sub ran out and two, because i really don't like the format of Game Pass, it's amazing value, no doubt about it, but i don't keep up and play games as they come out. I sometimes don't get to some games for years or even until the next consoles come out, so it having games that come and go from the service doesn't fit with my gaming habits, i don't like feeling pressured to start/finish a game before it vanishes out of rotation.

Seeing this hike now i know i made the right decision for me.

Re: Sony's First Year, First-Party PS5 Lineup Blows PS4's Away

Toadie

It's definitely a better line-up but that's not really saying much, the PS4's first year was very dry i thought, it's only really Knack that made me get it day one tbh (and no, that's not sarcasm, i actually really enjoyed it lol)

That rumour that Sony were hiding a revival of one of their IP's for launch must sadly be false now, Jak & Daxter was the one speculated, guess we'll have to wait a little longer for the duo to get their chance to shine again.

Re: Poll: Will You Buy a PS5?

Toadie

I'll be getting one, but not for a good year or two, same goes for the Series X, this is the least hyped i've ever been for a new generation of consoles, neither have done enough to tempt me to pre-order one.

I have always bought new consoles within the first six months or so of release but the introduction of the PS4 Pro and One X just a few years after the regular versions really left a sour taste, i'll be waiting to see if any equivalent versions of these new consoles appear first before buying into them.

Also, it'll be nice to hold off for once so i can get a special edition rather than always having the bog-standard model all the time, and hopefully there'll be a nice bundle with the PSVR-Mark II if/when it appears lol

Re: Random: Here's Super Mario 64 Running on PS2

Toadie

After seeing the Vita footage i'm now glad Nintendo have kept 64 in 4:3 and 30 FPS, it just doesn't look or run right in that footage, the pop-in is very noticeable too, i'm happy to just have some sharpening of the textures, that's all it really needed. Sunshine and Galaxy are the real draw of the collection for me though, i'm just counting 64 as an added bonus

Re: EA Disables UFC 4's In-Game Ads Following Player Outrage

Toadie

I cannot believe people are actually defending this practise ! Good on everyone who did stand up to get this changed back, EA really are such a vile company, they make huge profits from their games so there's no excusing this. The irony is a bet most people would be ok if all games were to increase in price as long as it meant being rid of these horrible, shady, predatory business practises that have creeped into the industry these last few years, they are really spoiling what is a damn fine hobby.

Re: Poll: Did PS5 or Xbox Series X Have the Better Next-Gen Showcase?

Toadie

Sony's was stronger, although i don't think either of them were amazing, neither have made my decision to hold off on going next gen for at least a year too difficult.

Best thing from MS's show for me is seeing that Halo has returned to its roots, Halo 5 was a disaster, i'm so glad to see classic Halo gameplay return with none of that iron-sight nonsense they added to 5. That and Psychonauts 2 were the highlights.

Re: No Microtransactions in Crash Bandicoot 4, States Dev

Toadie

I read that the game has over 100 levels so it'll be significantly longer than the original trilogy, i'm really excited to try it out, Toys For Bob don't get enough credit for their work on the Skylanders games, leaving aside the toys-to-life gimmick the actual gameplay on them all was very solid so i'm confident they will deliver on Crash 4

Re: The Order 1886 Dev Ready At Dawn Bought by Facebook

Toadie

Everyone's mentioning The Order but these guys also made the amazing Daxter PSP spin-off, one of the best 3D platformers ever made, it's a shame they've gone to facebook, these would have been the perfect devs to make a new Jak & Daxter game, guess the series will languish in the shadows for a bit longer
