Re: Talking Point: State of Play May 2024 Predictions - What's Next for PS5?

Vivisapprentice

Nintendo has DQIIIHD-2D, so I’m going to say PS will get FF Tactics remastered that was rumoured shown as the square Enix title. A release date for Lost Soul Aside and perhaps Convallaria, God of War Ragnarok PC, Until Dawn update, Concord update, Pragmata update and maybe silent hill 2. Indie wise Little Devil inside release date, and Judas release date, and for VR Half Life Alyx

Edit: of course Astro and Lego Horizon will be there too

Oh man, AAAA gaming is off to a bad start. Even on psnprofiles i had to travel a bit to find it, currently sitting at 438th place with 83 players, sheesh! As a comparison, while scrolling i saw other ubi games like Avatar, Crew Motorfest, AC mirage even Uno was higher. Currently SS KTJL is sitting at 142nd.

On a positive note, Xdefiant is at number 1 for them

I rewatched it recently, it wasn't a great show, lots of indies and already announced AAA titles, as well as some uninspiring first party CG trailers for live service games.

The state of play we had in January this year was great though, hopefully a sign of things to come, id love a blowout, even if the games are 2 years out. The June 2020 showcase set expectations for a couple of years and was backed up by another in September the same year. All the titles that were announced have come and gone (except vaporware Little Devil Inside and Pragmata) and i'd really like to see a picture painted of the next two years of Playstation 5.

Year 4-6 on Playstation 4 were its best years and a repeat would be most welcome

@TripleEyeGaming

Back in 2020 showcase, seemed like they were all in again on cutesy platformers/games, ratchet and clank, stray, sackboy, astro, kena, oddworld, bugsnax etc...Unfortunately that was it, now we just seem to be in action RPG territory

Western developers need to look at Japanese development, smaller teams, cheaper development costs(not trying to push the envelope in graphics) and very few layoffs but games with great gameplay and very few nickel and dime you. 2K, EA, Ubi, WB are all in shambles currently and it will take years for them to bounce back
