Re: Latest Alan Wake 2 PS5 Patch Applies 200+ Fixes

HUGE BOAST HERE.

Some of you mocked me for saying that my friend is a developer on the Northlight Engine, well, it turns out that said friend included me in the "End Credits".

End of boast.

The greatest moment in all my years playing games.

@TripleKing333

And I quoted Xbox, so what does the Playstation have to do with it?

Besides, the fact that it can fit on a PS5 Bluray, doesn't diminish the fact that everything else I said makes it a good decision to go "Digitally".

I like how you went out of your way to prove me wrong on the PS front. Bravo.

Digital only is also a lot less risky, since you won't be sitting on a huge amount of physical copies of the game if the game sells below expectations. If that happens, retailers will also push the price down due to the huge supply, meaning the publisher and developer make even less.

In addition, digital games don't have to compete for shelf space in the same way physical games do, meaning it's also less risk. This in combination with the above allows for more risk taking and more niche games to be made.

Less environmental impact as well.

Physical games usually don't even come with the game itself these days, just a key to download it, due to the Xbox Series X being limited to single layer blurays (50 gb max). If the disc was to contain the actual game, you would have to put in multiple discs, which is monumentally more expensive in terms of SKU costs but you also have to develop the game in such a way where the disc split makes sense, so most people don't bother.

And if they do bother, it'll have a massive day 1 patch anyway.

No point in physical games whatsoever.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Alan Wake 2 PS5 Review?

Wiggo

Well I would say as the game got a 10 out of 10 on Gamespot, and they very rarely give out those scores, despite them being them, I would maybe suggest that the problems that arise are insignificant compared to the whole package.

What game is perfect?

Re: Of Course Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Logo Leaks from a Pack of Monster Energy Drinks

@get2sammyb I just don't like the idea of the weapons being carried over.

I am in my 50's and the very reason I play this game is to unlock all the guns and get them to max level.

I usually discard it after a 4-5 month period once all of that is done, as I don't enjoy the game as much because it becomes a bit of a bore for me.

Hopefully we will have the option to start fresh, as if we didn't purchase MWII.

Cheers

Re: Kevin Hart, Jack Black's Borderlands Movie Blows Up Theatres from 9th August, 2024

I grew up in the late 70's and 80's and I can honestly say that I will never experience film going like it was back then.

When films we're announced then, Star Wars, Raiders, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Indy and so on, we had a legitimate reason to get excited, but seeing a film like this being announced with the cast it has, means absolutely nothing to me.

I know its an age thing and all that, but honestly, I just wish we had a good reason to look forward in the movie world.

@liamcroft

So what has happened to Playdead, do you know?

I periodically check their website to see if any news has come of the game they announced years ago.

Can't wait for this game. Looks great.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's PS5 File Size Is Ridiculous

Wiggo

Spoke to a friend of mine who develops games and he said its probably just UE4 bloatware.

If you we're to start a project using the engine and did nothing but save it there and then, that is likely to be a file size of about a gig.

Hopefully though it's a big game with some mind blowing scenes that would justify this file size.

We shall see

Re: Analysts Expect PS5 to Extend Lead on Xbox Series X|S in 2023

I still believe the only reason Microsoft are going after Activision is because they know Playstation will dominate for years to come on first party titles, so because they can't produce anything remotely close, they do the next best thing.

Pity really, as back in the day they had some solid ips.
