Alright I have to ask do developers not realize that most multiplayer games by independent developers seem to fail. Not saying that this one will but come on. At this point these type of games either need to be on game pass or PS Plus day one to get a large enough audience to support them. Seriously, the game looks great but if its just going to be dead in a month what's the point. I hope it succeeds though.
Only question I have is how long is this game going to be given that it is a roguelike. Really interested but will have to wait until after reviews and a price drop probably.
@get2sammyb I really liked what I played so unless reviews are truly abysmal, I probably will get it at full price. It being on Game Pass doesn't really matter to me as I won't be getting an Xbox Series X for at least another year or so.
It's good to know this is coming to PS4/PS5 as every time I see it, it looks cool but always seems like an exclusive for XBOX due to their advertisements.
The biggest problem for me with this game is that the control scheme is garbage. R1R2 being the attack buttons is awful. It may work for Dark Souls but for fast combat it feels wrong. Remapping it is also near impossible as every button seems to have 3 different things tide to the buttons. Unlike the last two games Valhalla doesn't have alternate controls.
I really don't see the difference between them. Seriously the leap between generations is tiny. Load times being the only thing that might be different [I'll believe it when I see it].
With games going up to 70, I probably will have to cut spending on new games. On average I buy most of the big games every year at launch. 70 is a lot harder to justify than 60. 60 is just on the precipice of being too high but is passable. 70 means the games better be damn good or they really need to start offering refunds for bad games.
69.99 for a game is asking too much. People often cite that movie prices increased but games haven't in 15 years. However, those two can't be compared as you really don't need to justify a movie price. In my state a movie costs less than $20. 20 dollars is easy, 70 dollars is complicated. 60 is just on the precipice of high priced but easier to justify due to its proximity to $50. Hopefully this rant made any sense. Probably not. Guess I'll buy games on sale next generation.
The thing I see as a problem with this is that you may need to replace controllers more often than on previous generations. I mean if something locks up people tend to press harder.
Decent list, but I really have found this year to be the worst year in a while for games. So far none of the games from 2020 have been very engaging. Really hoping this fall is better.
Honestly, from what I've played the game doesn't look any better then any AAA game I've played this generation. Ghost of Tsushima is literally Assassin's Creed made by a different company.
Not likely. I find the increase laughable as many games end up not even being worth $60. Some games also make way more then their budget [NBA 2K for example] and still they want more. Few games if any are worth more than $60 [Witcher 3 being one].
Fast travel makes games more fun. Often the journey isn't as good as the destination in games. It is on you the player to want to take the long way which for many takes to long or is boring.
My only worry is companies will view this renewed interest in witcher III as people being willing to buy anything tied to movies or shows. Just like the old days. You know what screw it, bring on the horrible tie-in ports.
The game was way to buggy for me and also very unrewarding. Also backtracking got very repetitive as time went on. Still it had some decent moments but it is nowhere near my game of the year.
Skyrim was the 2nd game I ever bought for my PS3 back then. It really showed me how far gaming had come and made me a fan of western RPGs. While it wasn't very good at launch on PS3, it is still one of my favorite RPGs having put hundreds of hours into it.
For myself, Resident Evil Revelations is the best of the series with maybe 7 and 2 right behind it. Haven't really played thru any others besides 5 [Which was awful except for the random coop player who destroyed the final boss for me].
While the reveals were solid and the trailers were good, I don't feel State of Play is a good platform for revealing games. It just doesn't work and undermines the games it shows by making them feel run of the mill. I think the live crowd is necessary to hype up a game especially for AAA games.
From the ones I read on Metacritic, it seems to be more about the game being boring than anything else. From a casual audience prospective, I think this game will be disappointing for many looking for what Kojima is known for.
Nice Easter egg. Honestly, I'm glad they are trying to present what a real soldier might encounter while on a mission. Sure it is deplorable that you can kill the baby, but if it didn't let you it would not provide a true sense of realism which is a big selling point of this Call of Duty.
While many had unrealistic expectations, I only expected Last of Us 2. But even that was disappointing because without the crowd reaction of an E3/Gamescom/Game Awards it was a game I can wait for as opposed to the hype built from hearing the cheers of an announcement at an event. The reveal of Joel should have been so much bigger. The other games as well.
That conference was just bad. Nothing was really revealed in a major way. Deathloop and Ghostwire were the only worthwhile reveals but no gameplay made it kind of pointless [Sound cool, but gameplay would have been better]. If I cared about streaming, Orion sounds interesting but other than the Doom gameplay everything was presented in the worst way possible.

Re: Classic PS2 Action RPG Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Is Being Re-Released Tomorrow on PS4
If you think this price is high, you should check out the other Baldur's Gate games or Neverwinter or Planescape & Icewind Dale. Those are like 49.99.
Re: Returnal (PS5) - Housemarque's Deep, Dark Shooter Is a PS5 Must Have
Thanks for saving me $70 dollars. Was on the fence on Returnal but now I'll wait till it is PS Plus or $10 dollars or less.
Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying Returnal?
I might get it but every time I see the 69.99 price point my brain just can't justify the price for some reason.
Re: Returnal Story Trailer Reveals More Roguelike Goodness
Only question I have is how long is this game going to be given that it is a roguelike. Really interested but will have to wait until after reviews and a price drop probably.

Re: Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4
I loved the demo despite some rough points. Hopefully it is good at release as this is one of the games I'm most excited for on PS5 at the moment.
Re: Take-Two Boss Believes Players Were 'Ready' for $70 Games
I'm ready for quality $70 dollars games. But far too often games are buggy or not fun to play.
Re: Scarlet Nexus Brings Anime Melodrama to PS5, PS4 Next Summer
It's good to know this is coming to PS4/PS5 as every time I see it, it looks cool but always seems like an exclusive for XBOX due to their advertisements.
Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Commits a Trophy Sin on PS5
Honestly, I like having seperate lists. It will give me a reason to replay the game in a few years.
Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla (PS4) - Epic Viking Adventure Buckled by Countless Bugs

Re: Watch Dogs Legion - The Dullest Ubisoft Open-Worlder Yet
Was really looking forward to playing it despite this review, but the game literally crashed my PS4. Looks like I'm waiting for patches sadly.
Re: Ubisoft Outlines Benefits of Playing Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, More on PS5
Honestly, I still have no idea what 3D audio does.
Re: PS5 UI Revealed in New State of Play Presentation
Looks a bit overcomplicated to me but will wait until I have it to know for sure.
Re: Poll: What's Your New PlayStation Trophy Level?
I'm at 517. Kinda sucks that this update happened after I gave up trophy hunting at the beginning of the year.
Re: Spider-Man PS5 vs PS4 Comparison Shows Off a Generational Leap
I really don't see the difference between them. Seriously the leap between generations is tiny. Load times being the only thing that might be different [I'll believe it when I see it].
Re: Final Fantasy XVI 'Coming Sooner than People Think', Reportedly in Development for at Least 4 Years
I'm guessing early 2022 at the earliest but may get delayed as Square tends to do.

Re: You'll Still Have to Pay for EA Play Independently on PS5, PS4
Honestly might get an Xbox next year after PS5 if I can. Game Pass is amazing and with this it is even better.
Re: The Marvel's Avengers Beta Was the Most Downloaded Beta in PlayStation History
Having tried the beta, it was really bad. However, I ended up buying the $80 version to play early and it is way better than the beta was.

Re: Marvel's Avengers File Size Is a Massive 90GB on PS4
At least they had a beta. Otherwise I would have to delete games to make room. Instead I canceled my preorder.
Re: Square Enix Considers Trials of Mana a Major Sales Success
Hopefully this means Legend of Mana gets remade next. Fingers Crossed.
Re: PS5 Controller's Triggers Will Lock When Your Gun Jams in Deathloop
The thing I see as a problem with this is that you may need to replace controllers more often than on previous generations. I mean if something locks up people tend to press harder.
Re: A Bunch More PS5 Box Art Has Emerged
If the case was white or black it would look better. Currently the white banner at the top looks horrible with the blue case.
Re: Feature: Push Square Readers' Top 10 PS4 Games of 2020 So Far
Decent list, but I really have found this year to be the worst year in a while for games. So far none of the games from 2020 have been very engaging. Really hoping this fall is better.

Re: Ty the Tasmanian Tiger PS4 Release May Be Just Around the Corner
@carlos82 Yes, I really want more. Seriously not many 3D platformers exist anymore outside of the formulaic Nintendo ones or other remasters.
Re: Godfall Cover Art Released Following PS5 Box Reveal
The case needs to be either white or black for that white banner. The blue case makes the PS5 games look like used gamestop cases.
Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 for a Brand New PS5 Game?

Re: Mini Review: Star Wars Episode I: Racer – This Old Favourite Still Has Some Magic
I'm so happy that this game is back. I remember playing it on the N64 and playing it again is going to be amazing.

Re: Skull & Bones Practically Walks the Plank as Game Skips Next Fiscal Year
I wonder if they might have delayed to add a campaign and will reannounce at some point.
Re: Don't Expect Assassin's Creed Valhalla to Run at 60 Frames-Per-Second on PS5
Good. I hate 60 fps personally.
Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Scales Back Naval Combat, Has an Upgradeable Settlement
While it was fun in Black Flag, naval combat just got old quickly. Also riding up on a fort as a viking and taking it sounds awesome.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Final Fantasy VII Remake?
I'd give it an 8 or a 9. Would be a ten, but that ending is awful. And there are some minor issues that brought the game down for me.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Receives Hefty 5 Month Delay
Good. Now April isn't as busy.
Re: Soapbox: The Witcher 3's Post-Netflix Resurgence Proves There's Untapped Cross-Media Potential in Games

Re: Rumour: ANTHEM Reportedly Not Dead as BioWare Plans Major Overhauls
Maybe they can pull off what Square did for FFXIV and make the game so good that it makes people forget about the Anthem we all got.
Re: Of Course Death Stranding Is Getting Review Bombed on Metacritic
From the ones I read on Metacritic, it seems to be more about the game being boring than anything else. From a casual audience prospective, I think this game will be disappointing for many looking for what Kojima is known for.

Nice Easter egg. Honestly, I'm glad they are trying to present what a real soldier might encounter while on a mission. Sure it is deplorable that you can kill the baby, but if it didn't let you it would not provide a true sense of realism which is a big selling point of this Call of Duty.
Re: Reaction: Unrealistic Expectations Mar Sony's Best State of Play So Far

But even that was disappointing because without the crowd reaction of an E3/Gamescom/Game Awards it was a game I can wait for as opposed to the hype built from hearing the cheers of an announcement at an event. Re: Talking Point: Was Bethesda's E3 2019 Press Conference on Form?
That conference was just bad. Nothing was really revealed in a major way. If I cared about streaming, Orion sounds interesting but other than the Doom gameplay everything was presented in the worst way possible.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 272
Finishing Mass Effect Trilogy and moving on into Andromeda.
Re: Rumour: Next Year's Call of Duty to Be Developed by Treyarch, Black Ops 5 Set in the Cold War
At least it sounds like it will have a single player unlike the last one.
Re: Far Cry 5 and Rainbow Six: Siege Are Both Absolute Monsters, Ubisoft Reaffirms
Kind of sad because Far Cry 5 is horrible, but good for Ubisoft. Hopefully Far Cry 6 is better.
