I'm not a ps guy, but for me it wasn't that bad, it was actually okay. They focused on updates on already announced games and saved space for a few surprises like KartRiders (its a fun game, it's no Mario Kart but is cool, played on xbox while ago), and the biggest surprise was Star Ocean that looked pretty good to me. It was not a big show, but to me it was far from the poor or terrible some people are talking.
About some comments of "Sony acquire who is close to PS and MS want to lock out sony"
Housemarque made Xbox games before sony start paying for exclusivity. Insomniac even made Xbox exclusive titles (Sunset Overdrive, remember?!). Sony even pay and make agreements to keep previous multiplatforms franchises like Spiderman and some Final Fantasy titles exclusive to their platform... so it's not like sony don't lock other players out and MS is the bad guy. That is not even close to being true. So lets stop with the double standards of "MS acquire is bad, sony acquire good".
That said, I think it was great that microsoft have acquired so many studios these years as well as I think its great sony have acquired Housemarque and Bluepoint(pratically confirmed by now), this is something I was expecting they would do a long time ago. Bluepoint made a great job in all remasters they worked on (Uncharted Collection on PS4 was great). Housemarque I don't think I've played any of their games before, but I'm looking forward to Returnal when I get a PS5 sometime in the future.
I hope they manage to release every uptade to make the game even better. I'll probably won't be a majority on this, but I love this game. I've got it at launch on Series S, played the whole campaign, made 4 different endings and currently trying to get all achievements (I'm almost on 80% achievments completion). I have more than 70h in the game and so far I'm enjoying it.
@thefourfoldroot @thefourfoldroot it doesn't matter if "it was always like that" yes, people always paid for MLB on PS, but I can't believe you really thinks it's perfectly fine for a sony game to have a better deal on Xbox than on PS, come on. It looks bad from every perspective possbile. Imagine if when Xbox launched Minecraft Dungeons for example they priced it $30 on Xbox, didn't put into game pass and at the same time released the game Day 1 on PS Plus. That would have looked really bad for them, a Microsoft game can't have a better deal on Playstation than on Xbox, it just makes no sense at all, and that's what's happening right now.
@thefourfoldroot its bad for the playstation fan who invested into the platform and is seeing Xbox Players having a better deal on a game a first party game from the platform he owns. Imagine you buy MLB The Show every single year, investing on PS hardware, then, you got your PS5, and was waiting for the game you love to launch. You already know it's multiplatform, but it's okay, because it will release on PS5 anyway. Then you found out you need to pay $70 to play the game, but the rival platform is having a better deal for a game the platform you support developed. This looks bad, real bad. And that fan is not happy with it. He invested years in the franchise, and the bennefit was for a plataform who never played the game before, never spent $1 dolar on the game, as it was exclusive. That's the issue.
Sony can kinda make itself look better with a simple move tho. Release MLB day 1 on PS+
@d0a01xz don't need it.PS5 has PS4 BC, and recently received a patch. Days Gone runs at 60fps on FPS, instead of 30fps on PS4. I think there was some graphics upgrades too.
Sony confirmed they don't profit of off PS5 sales. So if you buy a PS5 today, it means nothing financially for Sony.
That being said, if someone, let's say, buy a PS5 and after purchase a digital version of Horizon Zero Down on PlayStation sony would profit the same from that person and from someone who bought the game on Steam.
The only reason for the hardware to exist is so they can sell software. But if hardware doesnt profit and software do, the best way to maximize profit is to bring their software to more platforms. Sony is doing a great move, just as MS did back in 2016. Nothing to worry about. sony is doing great.
With konami insisting the interview was not removed because of them I'll stick to the idea that Yamaoka was talking about The Medium 2. He gave this interview just little after bloober team announce that development and marketing costs for the medium had been covered, so it is possible.
The PS logo on Xbox cover kinda reminds me of when they announced the new logo. I think it was Jim Ryan, I'm not sure, but he never stated that PS Studios would mean exclusive titles, he said that it would mean for the public that the product has PlayStation seal of quality. He even goes to say that this could be first party or third party published by them. I think the main idea about PS studios logo is to make PlayStation brand stronger for people outside playstation. Same thing with Xbox Game Studios. Minecraft Dungeons show Xbox Game Studios logo on start on PlayStation as well.
On a side note, I've saw some people commenting on the game not having Series X version, but it will. Series X cover leaked on gamestop website. They will be different versions, not smart delivery. PS4 looks like will have a version too. You can check up Series X cover on PushSquare sister website, PureXbox.
@JustPlainLoco Yes, there's also Santa Monica, Polyphony Digital and Japan Studio there were made by sony. But my point is, Sony acquired back them, Microsoft is acquiring now. It's not like they never built a studio or are not building now. The Coalition, Turn 10 and 343i for example are all made from the ground up by XGS, also in recent years they built The Initiative, that is currently working on Perfect Dark. From my point of view, sony and microsoft have the same strategy regarding studios, the only difference is the time of their actions.
@JustPlainLoco "Maybe because Sony believes in growing their studio's organically, and building studio's from the ground up, while it wouldn't hurt them to buy a studio or two (Mainly Bluepoint & Housemarque), ultimately they don't need to."
Bend Studio - acquired by Sony in 2000 Naughty Dog - acquired by Sony in 2001 Guerrilla - acquired by Sony in 2005 Media Molecule - acquired by Sony in 2010 Sucker Punch - acquired by Sony in 2011 Insomniac - acquired by Sony in 2019
I don't get all this complaining over Days Gone, it is, by far, the best Sony first party game for me. I have finished the game this year, so most of the bugs were already patched. Bugs aside, Days Gone is a solid 50 hours campaing with a great story, a big world and good survival mechanics. Have to manage your motorcycle while riding around is a nice touch. Zombies system are also great, mostly with hordes. Hordes are hard to defeat and add a great felling of accomplishment when you do.
@Stragen8 I don't think that other consoles mean PS4 in that case, since is a next-gen game I think this meant Xbox Series, as surprising as it can be.
the order property is owned by sony so I don't see why It likely wouldn't have a sequel. Sony could just hire any studio or use one of their first parties to do the game. Anyway, great acquisition to Facebook.
@Matroska Tecnology exists doesn't mean it is widely used by people. There were not tons of people using SSDs in 1991. Even today majority still uses HDD on PCs.
What Cerny said about PS5 SSD was not that it didn't have on PC market, but that it doesn't exist today on market an SSD as fast as the PS5 one.
Of course there are SSDs in the market, but currently there are no SSD on PC market capable of the speeds being promissed by Cerny. I think that will change quickly though.
@Ryall I really doubt that. This would be the death of the game sales on PC. Nobody would invest on super fast SSD just to play one game. It's different with consoles because you purchase the whole hardware, and lots of games will make use of that hardware. Buy an ultra fast SSD for the sake of God fall on PC would make no sense at all.
@get2sammyb but if they optimizing differently for both platforms why not for ps4 too? They just use pc version downgraded to run on ps4 and another using all ps5 resources. This statement would make sense if it was ps5 only, but that's not the case.
God of War is likely coming to PC. If you go to Spiderman page you will see the only on playstation there, you can see it also on uncharted and ghost of tsushima. HzD and Detroit, both already confirmed for PC don't have the only on seal anymore. About the other page that still has the only on, likely isn't used anymore. HzD page on Playstation Brazil still says only on playstation, so I think PS US is the way to go for this kind of information.
Despite being on Game Pass Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 sold really well on UK for example. Forza got Number 1 in there, and this counting only physical copies. Gears 5 likewise. Also, the outer worlds selling tons of copies in every platform.
@IamNotPerfect Sony will do eventually, just wait, probably during PS5 era. They will evolve PS Now to become Game Pass like. Just wait and see. It's not that easy to implement a system like that, sony has to evaluate their situation first, but they will do it eventually, as it was with cross-play. They said 'no' countless times but had to just accept that this was the future.
Nintendo doesn't even has a decent online system yet, no achievements, no leaderboards, no free games.. NES and SNES, really?
They won't be doing Game Pass like service anytime soon, not because it doesn't give profit, but because its Nintendo.
I don't know why is so hard to understand Xbox Game Pass concept. I'll try to explain from Microsoft perspective, not as a player.
If a digital game is on the store and you don't buy it. It still has cost money, and on this case, didn't generate profit, as 'you' didn't bought it.
However, when you put this game on game pass there are a high chance people will try it out and if they like it they'll probably buy it physically or at least keep subscribing so it don't lose their game.
Xbox Game Pass costs $15 on its normal price. In 4 months you gave Microsoft $60, the value of AAA release.
Now, here is the point that make MS profit. You don't own the games on Game Pass, so if you want to keep playing them, you should keep subscribing. Also, a really big part of people subscribing to XGP wouldn't buy all those releases anyway, so they would give $0 to MS but are giving $15 instead. As a curiosity this also happens with PS players, I have lots of friends on PSN who hadn't played God of War to this date, they gave $0 to sony on this title, they could instead be giving $15 as well just to play the game.
TL;DR they're not going from $60 to $15, they're going from $0 to $15.
There are no lose of profit on services like XGP, it's a Win-win for Microsoft.

@Katsuhono
The next xbox exclusives:
Flight Sim - July
Forza Horizon 5 - November
Halo Infinite - Holiday 2021
Psychonauts 2 is a first party title, but the game was announced before MS acquired the studio so its multiplataform.
New IPs starts 2022 with Starfield, Contraband and Redfall.

As well as the medium, call of the sea and Scorn.
