Re: Poll: What Is Your PS4 Game of the Year 2019?

fluggy

Resi 2, Blood and Truth and .. Um ... Cat Quest 2.
Cat Quest 2 for the 2 player with my 10 year old son. Probably not a game I would have touched without multiplayer but, as any parent knows, any game you can play together that your child really invests in, makes the game infinitely better.

Resi 4 has been well dethroned for me. Resi 2 Remake and 7 (in VR) both trump it. Obviously 4 will always be the most influential but the years, the amount of times ive played it (and those boring, muddy graphics) have watered down my love for it. Res 3 was defo (by far) my favourite of the original PS trilogy. I really loved 5 as well.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Shuts Down Xbox Boss' Comments on VR

@rjejr
"By not even MENTIONING Labo VR you are seriously just as bad as Phil Spencer."
Its pretty apparent that were talking about dedicated VR headsets here ... the Switch doesn't qualify i'm afraid. (This should be blatantly obvious.)
I hope your really young coz if not, Dude, you've got issues! Accusing someone of hypocrisy for not mentioning Labo in an article regarding dedicated VR headsets... wow!!
"Many folks would say PSVR isn't real VR either compared to Oculus or Vive" ... um, no they wouldn't. Ive never heard any publication state that PSVR isnt real vr due to the lower resolution. The libraries are slightly different and, apart from the resolution, the experience is almost identical. So, by your reasoning ... "Thats like saying some people would say the Genesis isnt a real console compared to the SNES." . . . um ... no... They wouldn't.
At least in future, make sure your analogy holds water before posting stuff .... its less embarrassing.

I'm assuming PSVR 2 on PS5 will be backwards compatible with PSVR on PS4. Thats a hell of a head start for Sony and it might be a bit late for Xbox to be starting from scratch. Ive got 120 PSVR titles and it really does have everything you would want. Imagine the next iteration when cables, screen door, draw distance, resolution, pop in are not issues ..... its a pretty appealing proposition.

Re: Mini Review: Sparklite - A Sparkling Rogue-Lite Adventure

fluggy

Loved this on Switch but some serious bugs almost ruined it for me. 3 times I grinded for over 2 hours, then headed for the sand level and it froze on the loading screen. . . exact same fault 3 times. It obviously doesnt save when you travel between levels coz I lost ALL my Sparklite (9,000+) i had grinded for. Only saves when you die. Also got caught behind bushes umpteen times with no way to get out... again .. had to pull the plug and lost my progress.

Re: PS Plus November 2019 PS4 Games Announced

Outlast 2 was enjoyable but a bit of a let down after the first game and DLC. . . too long and unfocussed. Think thats what happens when a small dev gets a bigger budget but doesn't know how to use it best. The parts in the school really spoiled it for me. Never played Nioh though. Good month if you don't have either.

Re: Feature: Uncharted 2 Kickstarted a New Age of First Party Success for Sony

fluggy

Was really on the fence with my vote .... ANYTHING that can make me think twice before auto-selecting GoW has to be great. Had to go with my heart and choose Last of Us. Replaying it now (play it once every year) and I think it might just be my fave game of all time. I always liked the Uncharted stories and cutscenes BUT the wave combat felt awful to me. Horizon Zero is prob my 3rd and Spidey 4th.

Re: Guide: How to Watch Virtual Reality Porn on PSVR

fluggy

Its prob not good for single guys (like me with 2TB of the stuff combined with a deluxe FL "toy" ) to get into this. You get so indifferent about dating/girls in general. Had no idea the PS4 media player worked with these (mine are all dual pic sbs vids from torrent sites). Been paying monthly for PS4 littlstar and that really is a game changing (if somewhat creepy) experience!!

Re: Contra: Rogue Corps - Bargain Bin Isometric Shooter That's Easy to Forget

fluggy

Looks and plays atrocious on Switch. Background/textures remind me of Resi 2 on PS1. Why did Konami even bother finishing this ... they must've known it was crap after they play tested the first 5 mins. I'd have been way too embarrassed to even release the demo in that condition but at least we can see how bad it really is before purchasing.

Re: Blasphemous - An Unholy and Triumphant Metroidvania

fluggy

I consider myself a bit of a seasoned Metroidvania player and I dont know if I've not read something in the game but I played 35hrs of this and i'm at 37% completion. There seems to be zero direction at all in the game. No idea what all the collectibles are/do. Ive wandered about all the areas I can and have no idea where i'm supposed to go next. Zero signposting at all. Sometimes there'll be nothing in a certain screen ... then when I go back theres a major plot progression character in the same screen. Finding it quite a frustrating play.

Re: Hands On: No Man's Sky Beyond Brings a New Lease of Life to the Ambitious Adventure

fluggy

The original review I read for this described it as an "Infinite Space Sandbox"!!! .... yeuch, what a turn-off! Took the plunge today as its only £15.99 on PS Store. Doubt I woulda touched it without the VR implementation. Graphics in VR could be better ... even at this scale. Played it couple hours .. pretty good so far. Is there actually a narrative .... or do i just fumble about planets doing the same thang ad infinitum??

Re: Play The Persistence Without PSVR in Free Complete Edition Update

fluggy

Bought this on release but only got round to playing it (properly) last week. Great game. The ONLY rogue-like Ive ever persevered with. Think the genre was what put me off playing it for so long. Really has a very addictive loop with the suit and weapon upgrades. Can't imagine it being anywhere near as atmospheric without VR.

Re: Ghost Giant - A PSVR Masterpiece

fluggy

Enjoyed it, finished it in 1 afternoon and thought ... "um, is that it?" The gameplay was nice, some great scenes but some major annoyances also. For starters the basketball "mini game" is appallingly conceived and executed even worse. The nets are miles away and the further you try and throw it, the less it moves.... pulled a muscle attempting it!! GRRR. When asked to get ingredients for an apple pie Lewis says "I wish we had a something like a whisk to stir the pot" .... I (foolishly) looked about for an hour and a half at his suggestion, finding a spade and a large needle... surely one of these would do? Nope ..... JUST USE YOUR GHOST FINGER!!! GGGRR!!! The puzzles are rarely logical and the "hint system" thats explained is a complete misnomer. The story doesn't delve into the illness at all. We briefly get a "mum's sick" ... then were magicked 6 months later where all is well. Its like they completely ran outta ideas for a last chapter .... so didnt bother writing one. For £20 I expected more than an afternoon of playtime. Really enjoyable touching game but not sure its worth more than £7.50 - £10.
