Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 373

I'm really hoping to get started on control. I've got the ps5 version downloaded ready and I have next week off work. I've not really had much play time on my ps5 even though I've had it a while now due to work being so busy. So I really want to take advantage of my time while my wife's at work and kids are split between university and school.
I've decided this gen to start and finish my single player games before moving on and hopefully not buying a huge backlog and just buying when I need or close to needing a new game. I probably won't Inc driving, fighting and multiplayer games in this as I tend to buy them as they release as I like to have one of each the go when the community is there to complete with.
Have a great weekend everyone.

It's funny how opinions change so fast. I a few weeks ago I would be saying the launch should be delayed and I'll wait to next year before I got a PS5. Then last week I got my PS5 and I'm loving it. This is the first weekend I got to use it as away with work all last week. Sorry if this makes me a bad person but the ps5 is great and I hope everyone can get one soon.

I finally got my PS5 last Saturday evening, the first playstation console I couldn't get at launch. I then had to work away from home early Sunday until Friday this week. I've spent the day setting up everything I need to. I think I'll go astro bot first then see where I go from there. I usually always have a few hours of COD with friends at some point but I really want to get stuck into something new. I may try control as I've already downloaded the ps5 version. I also just bought streets of rage in the sale. So that's an option. Then at some point I want to clear my ps4pro and give to my brother who's got his first baby on the way and not got much money for luxuries. So was thinking of leaving myself signed in and activated as primary user the set him up and he has access to my 280+ plus games at not cost.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Warzone Season Two Dated for 25th February

@KevinDS88
I started playing shootum ups back on the Atari ST with the likes of xenon. I've carried on playing these games through each generation. With classics like r-type, thunderforce, Darius, I feel COD has been a natural progression for me although I do still play the classic types. I'm not sure in my mid forties you'd call me a child. I have an 18year old daughter myself. Maybe when you do get old enough yourself you'll see the benefits of being able to play short bursts here and there around family and busy work life. And also during this pandemic being able to socialize daily with friends you've had for years is a god send. But you know we can't all be as cool and original as you.

@TechaNinja
When you jump sideways you used to be able to continue strafing sideways. Now there is a small pause before moving. So now you are easier to shoot. Where as before you were a harder target. As annoying as it was to get killed by jump shoters. It was a good way to clear corner campers sat waiting for people. And modern warfare made me so sick of campers. It was nice to have the ability to counter act them.

@Alpine021
Same goes for me. It's good to catch up with friends when the wife goes to bed, usually get 3ish hours in a night. And never play with less than 3 mates. So far I've managed to get my subs, assault rifles, shotguns diamond. And half way through my pistols and LMGS. Not going to bother with dark matter I don't think. I can't be doing with completing the snipers and rocket launchers seems to much like hard work. I like running around like a headless chicken.

Re: Is It Worth Buying a PS Vita in 2021?

gingerfrog

I'd love to find someone to buy mine and look after it. It's an original OLED one with a 64gb and 4gb memory card all boxed and in top condition. I just don't get time to play it. I have over 60 digital games mainly psplus. I've probably only played a couple hundred hours on it whilst on various holidays. But even my kids are old now so stay up drinking with me. I went to a second hand shop and they only offered £35 for the lot. Doesn't seem worth selling. What little I played I enjoyed though so don't regret buying.

Edit: having read some of the other comments maybe there's hope of getting a fair price. maybe ilI go back to a second hand shop again when they open.

Re: Hands On: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Plays It Safe, Mostly

gingerfrog

I'm loving the multiplayer, after such a boring year with the camping in MW it's so nice to see people moving round the map. I can't disagree that MW was stunning looking and sounding, but the gameplay and map design were some of the worst I've played. Mostly designed that way with safe places to hide, doors, no dead silence and quick TTK. Cold war is much more the arcade fun experience I look for in a call of duty with less catering to newbies. Also looks much better that the BETA.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS5?

gingerfrog

@KnightRider1982
Then having a ps5 unfortunately won't increase your download speed if you internet provider is getting you 11mbs that's the speed you'll download at. Your internet provider is the bottle neck causing you slow download issues. A change to PS5 will achieve no difference to the speed you can download a game

Re: PS5 Launch Advert Takes Us to Space

gingerfrog

For someone like me who can't get hold of one, but will definitely get when available I don't need convincing and don't understand why they would need to advertise yet when they're sold out and likely will sell out at launch. Why not save the advertising budget for when there is surplus stock? Admittedly I know nothing of the marketing world

@AdamNovice
I just wanted to give another opinion to crunch. It seems so many people are concerned about it. I do project management and every month go through intense crunch for launch. Having to stay away from home and work incredibly long hours without a day off. Just to be clear I love crunch. The satisfaction of landing a project well is incredibly rewarding. And posting results on twitter and having the CEO comments raises my profile pushing my career forward. When my family was younger I did jobs within the company that fitted family life. Now they are older I can enjoy a high pressure job. I get time off in build up to project launches and just after. My team loves the crunch too. I have worked with some who don't and usually think they've picked the wrong job as there are many alternative industries. I really wouldn't want my job to change because others believe crunch is a bad thing. It's the pressure reward I thrive on.

I loaded up street fighter and had maybe 10 games with a friend. Not sure I can be bothered to learn a new fighting game and I'm pretty invested in the soul calibur series. I think in need something that doesn't require much time or any brains. So with that in mind i think I'm may play through the modern warfare 2 campaign we got with plus. Hopefully good chewing gum for the brain.

Re: PS5 Doesn't Have an Optical Audio Port

gingerfrog

@SamMR
I think I need to be educated on this. How does arc the Adio return channel help you with your PS4? I can only think of 3 set ups
1 you're plugged into a normal HDMI channel using TV speakers so don't require it
2 you're in plugged into a normal HDMI and the arc channel is used to output to soundbar or receiver you don't need it
3 or my set up.you're plugged straight into a receiver with ALLM auto low latency mode. And the sound is delivered straight to the speakers so also don't require it

So I assumed arc is used purely to send sound to a receiver or soundbar for TV sounds as everything else plugs into the receiver and bypasses it. Also I thought it was only for outputting sound not recieving sound.

Genuine question

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Is 4K, 120 Frames-Per-Second on PS5

gingerfrog

@Dezzy70 @ThaBEN
I'm pretty sure you would need hdmi 2.1 which is rearer than rocking horse poo at this point.
For instance I spent £3k on an lg oled a few years ago so it's only hdmi 2.0 this means it can only do 4k 60fps 4:4:4 (no HDR) = 17.82 Gbps or
4k 60fps 4:2:2 10bit HDR (no 4:4:4) = 17.82 Gbps. So even
4k 60fps 4:4:4 10bit HDR = 22.28 Gbps which can't be achieved on HDMI 2.0 as it's upper data transfer limit is 18 Gbps.
In this scenario I'd game in 4k 60fps 4:2:2 10bit HDR as for me this give the best gaming results.
Edit : so 120fps 4k HDR is a pipe dream for most and unless you're spending around the £3k or above in the last 12 months on a current model and still doing your homework it won't be achieved
