Re: Microsoft Invites Sony to Sign Its Own 10-Year Call of Duty Deal

That's the end of it. The deal will go through. Sony can't argue it's bad for consumers when MS have essentially opened up another 70+million gamers with the expansion to Nintendo. Sony complained about COD, they have a 10 year offer on the table.
If the don't take it, it's their fault now.
Sony can't dictate what does and doesn't come to Game Pass.

Re: Reaction: Sony Poised to End 2022 without Major Press Conference

I think it does sadly give some credence to the scrapped showcase rumours amidst the Activision/Blizzard deal.
It also probably doesn't help that any planned announcements like the Zero Dawn remaster were met with widespread internet criticism, thereby discouraging Sony from making that a centerpiece announcement of sorts.

For a PlayStation centered website, it certainly enjoys telling everyone to avoid spoilers whilst giving away things themselves (however minor they may be). Ragnarok has been out to the general public for less than a week. We're not all gaming journalists that were able to complete this game over a week ago....

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Protagonists Discussing Puzzles?

@GreatAuk Me too. One of my top 5 PS4 games. But strangely enough one that never gets mentioned in the top PS4 game lists (this site's recent list included).
Quite possibly because again, it's a clever quiet game that lets the player do the working out and gameplay without an irritating sidekick narration throughout the whole experience.

I don't think we'll ever see the likes of Shadow of the Colossus again on PlayStation. There's no patience anymore for people to sit back and work out the solution themselves. The quiet moments in games can often be the best, but these days it seems like someone has to talk every 5 seconds simply for the sake of it.
I've learnt to accept that gaming is simply so mass marketed these days that the over simplifications are here to stay.

@dschons one of my biggest issues with the 2018 GoW was how simplified the puzzles were. I hope Ragnarok doesn't have the same problem of every puzzle being "leave the axe here".
Mimir was definitely a symptom of "gaming simplification" for me. I hope Ragnarok doesn't do the same.
One of my favourite God of War memories is the incredibly clever MC Escher style puzzle of Hera's Garden in GoW 3. For all the bombastic set piece violence, there was always very clever puzzly downtime in the earlier games.

Re: God of War Ragnarok: Is It Good on PS4?

PS4 fan noise 😂 I forgot how much that irritated me and had erased it from my memory. On my PS4 Pro it used to sound like a hair dryer when playing GoW18. The PS4 had an absolutely amazing gaming library, but my lord was it Sony's shonkiest console in my view.
