Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Baldur's Gate 3

I hope Sea of Stars is Number 1 then, otherwise this is playground levels of GOTY🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely refuse, on any level in my 25+ years of gaming across multiple platforms, to see how Spider-Man 2 is a better game than this or Alan Wake 2. And I say that as someone who thinks Spider-Man 2 was very enjoyable and decent. Highly recommended game, but GOTY it most certainly is not!

Re: Insomniac Breaks Silence on 'Distressing' Data Breach, Marvel's Wolverine PS5 to Continue as Planned

Rarely comment here these days but just want to stand in solidarity with Insomniac. Their games are genuinely the best in the industry, I can trace their gaming history to my own childhood and growing up with Spyro on the PS1.
If you're a true fan of gaming, don't play the wolverine build, don't read news on the leaks and buy Spider-Man 2! (Or buy it for someone else if you already have it yourself!)

Re: Preview: EA Sports WRC Combines Codemasters Pedigree with Authentic Rally Racing

pip_muzz

@Titntin I actually think with EA their future is more secure. EA love to pump out annual releases and as long as they hold the licenses to both F1 and WRC then they're as safe as houses in my view.
What's likely to be missing is the more creative approach such as Grid or Onrush but the EA buyout of Codemasters is one of the only recent acquisitions that to me felt like a "good fit"

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan May Have Been Disliked, But Leaves Big Boots to Fill

On a business level you can't argue with his success. The numbers don't lie and he's put PlayStation in a position of dominance I've not seen since the PS2 era.
On a personal level, I can't help but feel that by doing so he's turned his back on what made some of the earlier PS games so great. He's made PS more Americanised, with a commercial focus and less of the quirkiness I used to associate with PlayStation.
I'm not sad to see him go but I doubt that his leaving will signal a shift in Sony's direction which is what I ultimately want to see.

Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?

PS Extra was genuinely building up to be a real Game Pass competitor. Cheaper, solid shuffling of games and the odd day 1 release. With this (significant) price increase all that goodwill and foundation work has gone out of the window. Premium was always a disaster, but the new cost of PS Extra had gone from being a gaming 'no brainer' to a 'no thanks'

Re: Mini Review: Quake II (PS5) - A Remastered Classic with Real Bang for Your Buck

pip_muzz

7/10 for Quake 2! I suppose the Red Dead Redemption port will get the same score as this!
The gameplay is as thrilling as it's ever been, levels are multilayered, hours of high quality content and Nightdive have even added in a compass feature so modern players attuned to handholding don't get lost.
This review is most definitely the "outlier" for the game. If you're on the fence about this game, ignore this review and get it anyway.

Re: Red Dead Redemption Runs at 4K, 30FPS on PS5

pip_muzz

The Series X backwards compatibility version runs at 60FPS (Edit: It clearly doesn't, seems I was talking out of my backside here).
This is nothing but one of the laziest port attempts in recent memory.
What happened to Rockstar?! The PS2 years of GTA, Manhunt, Warriors etc... Seems so so far away from the hideous company they've morphed into today.
