@Carl-G People bought it mainly as they are sheep and saw the adverts where they have quotes from rags like The S*n saying it's beautiful. Do you really think causal gamers come on here, IGN, CVG, etc? They trust morons like that lying paper, FHM, Nuts and stuff like that. In other words the sheep you claim didn't buy it are mainly the ones who did. Some, like myself, will have bought it to try it ourselves before judgment as you should do. But don't kid yourself that it's been some conspiracy that The Order has got a kicking and this is a massive one over.
Would love to have this but don't think Sony want me to. Whenever I go into the themes section of settings to go the store (or the store itself) it takes me to an icon that looks like a CD case. Clicking on it does nothing until ten seconds later the store closes and I'm back at the PS4's XMB equivalent.
Ironically all 99% of users here are going to do here is skip straight to the score, ignore the review and rant or rave, Scores eh?
As for the review it's pretty much what anyone who hasn't had their head in the sand expected no? Said it before and I'll say it again, if this was £20 it would be a must buy for the majority. Will still be getting my hands on it next week though (enough left on a gift card to not have to spend a penny) as you can't judge until you try. All the people who are about to rant or rave now could do well to remember that...
Release the game at half price and no-one would mind the length or that it looks like for 90% of the time you do nothing but watch as cliche after cliche happens.
Course it could. Like it could sell only twelve hundred copies. Or twenty. Or fifteen million. Like any game could. Or any book. Or DVD. Or album. Any moron can say what Patcher does. He's like a football gossip section, throw as much s**t at the wall as you can then the few bits that stick you can use as proof of your 'insight'. Plank.
@Gamer83 I'm not sure it will sell at all to be honest. Went to the cinema last week and the order came on and a bunch of gamer-looking students were in front of me. Advert for the game came on and the lot of them were going on about how crap it looks. Went in to Game later on to pre-order DOA5LR (as they said they weren't getting many in) and asked how The Order is doing pre-order-wise there. They said no-one had shown any interest in it, despite boxes being behind the counter. Think even casual gamers can see it's all just a big show. It's a shame really as I remember watching the original reveal on here via an E3 stream/text chat and it looked incredible... until the monsters came out and it then quickly became a parody of the whole genre. I have a £40 voucher left at Game so may try it as it'll be 'free' as canny judge til I've tried it but can't escape my thinking that it looks bloody awful - but a promising game buried beneath it.
Really intrigued to see just how much of a kicking The Order gets (reviews and sales-wise) or if it is somehow going to pull a rabbit out the hat at the eleventh hour and fifty-ninth minute.
They'll cop out of it and have it free in March or April's PS+ offerings. This was always going to happen though. They never had any intention of giving anyone DriveClub for free which is why they kept constantly changing what was offered and then cancelling it at the last second.
@Flurpsel The social aspect for me is being way under used. Comments should be allowed to be added to achievements such as 'well done on getting that Trophy - it's a right pain in the ass!' etc. Even little reviews of a game by yourself or friends rather than a thumb up/down. Plus screenshots or vids taken by your friends. They're three tiny little additions that could easily be added - and sodding player online notifications - to make it feel more social rather than the boredom currently on offer.
Personally I don't want review scores. Never have. Nine out of ten people drop to the number and then go yay or into rage mode. People complain about a game (or book, song, album, film, sportsman) getting a 7 like its average. Another stupid think wrong with review scores as the majority of people are too idiotic to realise five/fifty is average not seven/seventy.
@get2sammyb Sometimes, yes. You'd have to be incredibly naive to think otherwise. N64 Magazine (still the finest games mag ever made) used to regularly comment they knew of people in the industry who put scores up, even colleagues in other magazines.
And, to further my people are stupid comment, they reviewed Smash Melée before its release, gave it 94% and were slagged off tremendously for it not being high enough. By people who hadn't played it. Caused such a storm they have out 98% stickers for people 'who know better than us.' God I miss them. Bloody Future Plc. One nit when I was sleppin a grackler cam.
@get2sammyb It would be great if both were hits but I think we all know Persona won't sell even half what FFXV does despite looking and most likely being the better game. Final Fantasy is a massive name that people know (and many no longer trust) while Persona has a very vocal but much smaller fanbase.
@3rdEyeMind On the hype train I see. The trailer was stylish but "one of the most impressive things I have seen in gaming"? Have you only played three or four games. The trailer was good but let's not pretend it was the second coming of Christ. It just looked like Catherine meets Persona 4 meets Rhythm Thief. Will undoubtedly be a great game - and is one of the actual few I'm looking forward to this year - but the reaction to this trailer is ridiculously over the top.
@get2sammyb Key words: "If Sony's got any sense." Sadly they seem to make choices almost as baffling as Nintendo in the '90s at times. Hopefully it comes this year I just don't think Sega in their current position will care enough. If Sony step in Sega don't get anywhere near as much money and Sammy Holdings won't allow that. Japanese copy for me, barring any region-locking like with P4A.
Looking forward to the exploits of The Phantom. Got stupidly excited 1:18 in when I thought the bar was the Stray Sheep for a split second but alas. The style has a very Catherine feel to it actually, even more so than other Persona titles.
With the utter mess Sega are currently in though I'm not holding up much hope for seeing this over here any time soon. Persona has a dedicated fanbase outside of Japan but it's not exactly going to fly off the shelves is it? Sega need pennies and Persona 5 just won't bring them sadly.
@FullbringIchigo I'd say try the more recent Vita games if you see them on the cheap. Lego Movie and Hobbit were really good fun, even more so than the 'main' versions I'd say. And they have no glitches and bouts of crashing either, which is something Travellers Tales realllllllllly need to sort out on consoles.
@SkywardLink98 @FullbringIchigo @SteveButler2210 Portable versions are good fun if you don't go in expecting the console version. People seem to think developers should put the main game on Vita despite the fact it would cost a fortune and they make no money off of it. As I said, go in mind open and they're fun. Especially the more recent ones which are more about quick plays and different ideas each level.
@ferrers405 Why would you think that? Not every company has to show off their game (hello The Order) every six seconds to try and keep it in your attention span. This will be out - and shown - when it's ready, no sooner. Exactly how it should be.
So a game that is no way near setting the world alight with anticipation has a collectors edition now too does it? Bugger me... It's insane. They could at least wait until a possible sequel before pulling this crap to see if people actually like the game. Games like Mortal Kombat you can understand as they've been around for twenty years (even if the amount of editions this time is ridiculous) but a game that is turning more people off then on with each new trailer?
I have DOA 5, DOA5+ and DOA5U. May as well add DOA5: LR to the collection. Know it's not the most amazing fighter but I love the paper, rock, scissors nature of the fights. Find it highly addictive (same with Pokémon and Puzzles and Dragons). May even finally Platinum one of this time if they don't have those sodding finger-breaking combo Trophies.
@tonyp1987 More chance of you plopping out a baby giraffe I'm afraid.
@hi_drnick There's a real problem over there, isn't there? Know it's dramatic but there's a fear with guys not going over to girls as much that there's less sex so less children in each generation. Not to worry though, I'm moving over there in the next two years. I'll sort it all out. After seeing how bad us foreigners are the Jap's will start mating again.
Didn't even know Tesco have Vita's. Never seen one in their stores myself (Formby, Southport, Kew, Litherland and Milnthorpe branches). Maybe if we all go buy them Tesco can say we all bought three each and lie about their profits again.
Quick look on their website - Football Manager 2014 for £7.50? Don't mind if I do.
@thedevilsjester You must have a dodgy PS3. I just turned both the 3 and 4 on to see it took a whole seven seconds longer for the older console then started GTA5 on both at the same time and only waited eleven seconds more to be wandering around Los Santos. Obviously it's your money, free to do what you want and not saying you're wrong in any way just personally I wouldn't waste £35-50 on buying a game I already have just to save not even twenty seconds.
@rjejr If you're tired of PAD you're tired of life. Can't wait for the Mario edition. And get PAD on Vita, it's so simple and would actually help the handheld in Japan. Suppose Sony are allergic to money.
@thedevilsjester Seriously? Do you have more money than sense? You'd rather buy a game AGAIN then merely turning on your PS3?! Your urine must be gold or something for that attitude.
Absolutely nothing this gen. If we're going to have more remasters shoved down our throats at least let them be next gen when there's been a real gap between the game and remaster.
Saying that, if Atlus announce a Catherine remaster I'll cry tears of joy. If we have to have them then that is exactly the sort of game that should be returning, something most people missed. A series like Uncharted doesn't need more exposure.
Excellent news. While not a fan of Naughty Dog I've always admired their attitude of starting afresh each gen and challenging themselves with new IP and styles of game. Sadly they don't seem to be doing that this gen though.
The characters aren't iconic or well known enough to get anyone other then Sony fanboys buying them. I have friends who are after Captain Falcon, Toon Link and Samus as well as others that haven't been announced despite none of them owning Nintendo consoles. Cole McGrath, Sly Cooper, Jak et all just don't have the same draw, hence PS All-Stars all but bombing.
@naruball People had been calling for Nintendo to do something similar for years and they added in the extras that any game can be compatible rather than one. Bit of a difference. Like with PS All-Stars bring just a quick (and awful) attempt at cashing in on Smash. Should Nintendo have been slammed a bit for it (and for it taking so long)? Yes. Where they? Yes. So basically what you wrote should've happened did actually happen. Only way you wouldn't have seen a backlash is if you visited only pro-Nintendo sites otherwise you'd have seen plenty.
After the sterling work Platinum did on Bayonetta 2 - and what they've learned from Nintendo (their words) to do with additional gameplay and replayability - this could be something really special.
@ShogunRok You've just described Bayonetta 2. They make a game even half as good as that and it's the best game on PS4 by miles.
@zizzorhandz Optional inclusion, fair enough. Must do it, no way in hell. A second of moving your hand in a Platinum game can cost you your life. Would be more of a hindrance than anything.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Good God no. If someone buys Shenmue it should be available to all. Plus I wouldn't trust Sony or Naughty Dog with the IP. Just someone give Yu Suzuki a bag of cash and creative freedom.
@wittypixel @professorhat All depends on your taste. For me this month is awful but that's because the two games I'd want (Yakuza and Transistor) I already have; Thief I've owned and while not brilliant, has it's moments and Rogue Legacy is a game I heavily dislike. Other two look naff but after trying them they may be wonderful, you never know. Although personally it's a poor month it's still an improvement on recent offerings, as the last two months were. Sign of improvement and I hope it carries on.
@Darthreven7 I may be imagining it but weren't there rumours towards the end of 2013 that Nintendo wanted to buy the IP and a few other Sega ones? Seems the only chance we have of a third game sadly, although as much as I love Nintendo I don't think they'd be right for it.
@BLPs Except that never happened, did it? They ended the article on NintendoLife with a video titled 'Sonic Boom: Worst Sonic Ever?' to which, as a Sonic/Sega nut, the answer is a resounding yes. Nowhere in the article did it say "Sonic sucks" - in fact it just did what Sammy did here, reported the news and then added a list of recent releases and a bit about the history of Sega.
@AFCC The service may go on for months on Vita but with the amount of users dropping, the console struggling and upcoming games not being the most exciting I just think, like I said, would be best to go out with a bang. Having undoubtedly the best game on the machine free (Persona) and the last first party game would give it some much needed positive news. Maybe making the games on Vita change every other month too, just something to give it a shot in the arm. We all want it to be a success while it's still here.
@Wesker Not liking something is trolling now? So basically, by that logic, you're trolling me for not liking something I said about a game I don't like the look of. Makes sense I guess. Seriously though, I've played Rogue Legacy before and didn't enjoy it, hence me not liking it. Can only have an opinion on something you've tried can't you. I wish more people had that thought, too many people won't like something because of who made it. I don't like the look of Uncharted 4, for example, as I've not enjoyed a single Naughty Dog game - but I'll still be trying it.
@Potrock_Star Shame your banned. Was enjoying you making things up about me. Felt like I was famous. There's my fifteen minutes gone.
@AFCC @Shellybird27 Whether we like it or not the Vita is all but dead and it won't be long before the service is off of the Vita. We all know that. There's nothing substantial left to give away and next to nothing coming out in the future you could see being given away. I just think it would be best to leave Vita with us all going "WOW, what a selection!" with those two titles I mentioned than more "yay/sigh, more indies!" arguments every month. The majority of Vita indies aren't expensive so keep the PS+ discounts going for the people too tight to pay the couple of quid and let's move on with a bang rather than the inevitable whimper.
PS4 selection is 50/50, Transistor is a cracking game but Apotheon just looks dreadful.
PS3 is much better. Thief may not be anything special but it's a fun little game if you look past its many faults. Yakuza 4 is just a massive thumbs up.
Vita is just... no. It's time IGC leaves the handheld. Give out Freedom Wars and Persona 4 Golden next month as a final hurrah then retire the service on it. There's just nothing left on it so call quits.
For me it's a disappointing month but only as I have all the games I'd want. For Yakuza alone though it's wonderful. Another step in the right direction.
Knowing Sony it will be the announcement that PSN is being switched off on Vita.
@younghusky Seem more like five year old than @BLPs with your ridiculous tantrum there. Yeah, what he said maybe over the top but you just make yourself seem a deluded fanboy who can't accept people are actually allowed to like non-Sony consoles.
About the right price. The game is quite good but once it's over, far too quickly, it does kinda fade away in your head with little incentive to ever touch it again. Especially as the morality system really doesn't do that much differently on a second play through.
@SteveButler2210 Only if you care for the weak-arsed story in the game. There's nothing really revealed in First Light as the story in Second Son is as obvious as a French man being arrogant.
Like @Bad-MuthaAdebisi I prefer my music owned and actually physical. Thanks but no thanks. Not like it's a massive chore to put on a record or CD before or during a game, especially when a lot of the acts I like aren't on Spotify. And no, Taylor Swift isn't one of them.
Sure millions of others will find it useful though. Would be nice if one day they could integrate it into games, like a radio station on GTA5 being a Spotify playlist you've made.
Opened Near about six times in my Vita's life and received one whole game good and two notifications about it in that time. Always had the feel of it being a botched, quick attempt to copy what the 3DS has with StreetPass Plaza. Always liked the SPP for some reason, was nice seeing you'd met someone out and about then having them help you on Help Mii or whatever it was called. Had well over 1,000 visitors before my 3DS broke whereas I've seen ONE person playing a Vita. This seems to be the third nail in the coffin now. One more and it's goodnight Vita.
@get2sammyb Agree with @Godsire- and @GraveLordXD that I don't think it would be natural progression. Would ruin the game I think. The 'zany' characters would either start to annoy people or not be wacky enough. I can see what you mean but I just think it would lose them a good portion of their fanbase. If they wanna do a Destiny-like Borderlands fine, but that's what spin offs or Borderland: The Pre-Future-Game-After-Next-Sequel. Sadly that name being chosen wouldn't surprise me.
Keep mentioning you think Borderlands 3 will go MMO but no idea why you think that. Might have tiny elements of it but it will be nothing like Destiny in any way other than 'people in space with guns.'
@Punished_Boss_84 This. Pitchford has said several times there will be a Borderlands 3 and although they have ideas, no serious work has started yet as they do Battleborn. There was never going to be anything substantial shown. Overexcited reporters on slow news days can be forgiven for jumping the gun though.
@ferrers405 Third person would slow it down and take you out if it so you are not the character, the illusion first person brings. Would be a completely pointless and unnecessary addition while also needing much more development work (different aiming system, etc) for what would essentially be used by no-one.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel included. Sony have a habit of releasing a game on PS3's PS+ just before it comes remastered on PS4 (hello Tomb Raider) and it even put Borderlands 2 up just days before the Vita port came out. Common sense doesn't seem to work with the people who make these decisions.
I also expect Knack or possible Killzone on PS4 as proof of "AAA" games coming to the service. That neither game is AAA isn't important, they're first party which for some reason seems to count as AAA even if they're just D and B class games like these two.
For once though, this week let's not have people moaning about the moaning more than people actually moaning about the selections?
Not even a tenth of the cost of developing this would've been made back in sales. Not difficult to see why it was cancelled. If a COD isn't going to sell the Vita there's no way in hell an inFAMOUS ever would. It has a passionate fanbase but also a rather small one.
@Dodoo Yeah, I'm sure Sony - a company struggling, lets not forget - will happily invest millions into a couple of new AAA IP Vita games and see next to nobody buy them. Their accountants are begging them to waste more money.
@italodance Majora's Mask and Xenoblade are out in a matter of weeks. Two bigger games than Vita has (arguably) had in it's life span. So the 3DS comment is utter pish. Wii U is slowly picking up sales, nothing spectacular but unlike the Vita, it is slowly improving. A new Zelda will help - but it has to be out this year, any longer and it is all over. So your Wii U comment is also nonsense. Two for two.
Absolutely nothing. Only game, on any of the three machines, I want at the moment is Dragon Age and what good is 10% gonna do? Cheaper to go on a train to town, get a Sub for lunch and buy it on a disc.
@AyeHaley Yes and no to multiple titles. It's the whole basket, so if you get REmake and something else at the same time it's 10% off both. Get them separately though and you're paying full price for one (and practically full price for the discounted one too to be honest).

Re: Reaction: Why Sony Online Entertainment's Sale Makes Sense for Everyone
No loss whatsoever.
Re: Talking Point: Are There Any Remasters You Still Want to See on PS4?
@thedevilsjester You must have a dodgy PS3. I just turned both the 3 and 4 on to see it took a whole seven seconds longer for the older console then started GTA5 on both at the same time and only waited eleven seconds more to be wandering around Los Santos. Obviously it's your money, free to do what you want and not saying you're wrong in any way just personally I wouldn't waste £35-50 on buying a game I already have just to save not even twenty seconds.
Re: Well, Of Course Evolve Has a Match-Three Mobile Game
@rjejr If you're tired of PAD you're tired of life. Can't wait for the Mario edition. And get PAD on Vita, it's so simple and would actually help the handheld in Japan. Suppose Sony are allergic to money.
Re: Talking Point: Are There Any Remasters You Still Want to See on PS4?
@thedevilsjester Seriously? Do you have more money than sense? You'd rather buy a game AGAIN then merely turning on your PS3?! Your urine must be gold or something for that attitude.
Re: Talking Point: Are There Any Remasters You Still Want to See on PS4?
Absolutely nothing this gen. If we're going to have more remasters shoved down our throats at least let them be next gen when there's been a real gap between the game and remaster.
Saying that, if Atlus announce a Catherine remaster I'll cry tears of joy. If we have to have them then that is exactly the sort of game that should be returning, something most people missed. A series like Uncharted doesn't need more exposure.
Re: Don't Hold Out Hope for Jak & Daxter on PS4
Excellent news. While not a fan of Naughty Dog I've always admired their attitude of starting afresh each gen and challenging themselves with new IP and styles of game. Sadly they don't seem to be doing that this gen though.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy PlayStation-Themed Amiibo?
Re: Metal Gear Rising to Serve Up a Second Dose of Revengeance on PS4?
After the sterling work Platinum did on Bayonetta 2 - and what they've learned from Nintendo (their words) to do with additional gameplay and replayability - this could be something really special.
@ShogunRok You've just described Bayonetta 2. They make a game even half as good as that and it's the best game on PS4 by miles.
@zizzorhandz Optional inclusion, fair enough. Must do it, no way in hell. A second of moving your hand in a Platinum game can cost you your life. Would be more of a hindrance than anything.
Re: SEGA Downsizing as It Turns Its Attention to Digital Games
@ShogunRok Persona 5: exclusive to Android phones. You heard it here first. Sadly no-one would be surprised.
Re: SEGA Downsizing as It Turns Its Attention to Digital Games
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Good God no. If someone buys Shenmue it should be available to all. Plus I wouldn't trust Sony or Naughty Dog with the IP. Just someone give Yu Suzuki a bag of cash and creative freedom.
Re: Feature: What Are February 2015's Free PlayStation Plus Games?
@wittypixel @professorhat All depends on your taste. For me this month is awful but that's because the two games I'd want (Yakuza and Transistor) I already have; Thief I've owned and while not brilliant, has it's moments and Rogue Legacy is a game I heavily dislike. Other two look naff but after trying them they may be wonderful, you never know. Although personally it's a poor month it's still an improvement on recent offerings, as the last two months were. Sign of improvement and I hope it carries on.
Re: SEGA Downsizing as It Turns Its Attention to Digital Games
Re: Rumour: Apotheon, Transistor Free for PS4 in February PlayStation Plus Update
Re: Rumour: Apotheon, Transistor Free for PS4 in February PlayStation Plus Update
Re: Rumour: Apotheon, Transistor Free for PS4 in February PlayStation Plus Update
Re: Sony Tempting Fate with Friday 13th New York Event
Knowing Sony it will be the announcement that PSN is being switched off on Vita.
@younghusky Seem more like five year old than @BLPs with your ridiculous tantrum there. Yeah, what he said maybe over the top but you just make yourself seem a deluded fanboy who can't accept people are actually allowed to like non-Sony consoles.
Re: Sony Zaps inFAMOUS: Second Son's PS4 Price on the European PlayStation Store
Re: Spotify Streams to PS4, PS3 in Partnership with PlayStation Music
Like @Bad-MuthaAdebisi I prefer my music owned and actually physical. Thanks but no thanks. Not like it's a massive chore to put on a record or CD before or during a game, especially when a lot of the acts I like aren't on Spotify. And no, Taylor Swift isn't one of them.
Sure millions of others will find it useful though. Would be nice if one day they could integrate it into games, like a radio station on GTA5 being a Spotify playlist you've made.
Re: PS Vita App Near Will Cease Searching for Game Goods Soon
Opened Near about six times in my Vita's life and received one whole game good and two notifications about it in that time. Always had the feel of it being a botched, quick attempt to copy what the 3DS has with StreetPass Plaza. Always liked the SPP for some reason, was nice seeing you'd met someone out and about then having them help you on Help Mii or whatever it was called. Had well over 1,000 visitors before my 3DS broke whereas I've seen ONE person playing a Vita. This seems to be the third nail in the coffin now. One more and it's goodnight Vita.
Re: Er, So You Won't Be Playing Borderlands 3 on PS4 for a While Yet
@get2sammyb Agree with @Godsire- and @GraveLordXD that I don't think it would be natural progression. Would ruin the game I think. The 'zany' characters would either start to annoy people or not be wacky enough. I can see what you mean but I just think it would lose them a good portion of their fanbase. If they wanna do a Destiny-like Borderlands fine, but that's what spin offs or Borderland: The Pre-Future-Game-After-Next-Sequel. Sadly that name being chosen wouldn't surprise me.
Re: Er, So You Won't Be Playing Borderlands 3 on PS4 for a While Yet
Re: Prepare Yourselves for 30 Hours of Persona Goodness
Just get the Rie Kugimiya and Laura Bailey (voice actors of Rise) to stand there and talk for thirty hours and I'll watch.
Re: February's PlayStation Plus Freebies Will Be Announced Next Week
Re: Rumour: Sony Bend Was Working on an inFAMOUS Title for Vita, But It Got Zapped
Re: Poll: What Will You Be Spending Your 10 Per Cent PSN Discount On?
Absolutely nothing. Only game, on any of the three machines, I want at the moment is Dragon Age and what good is 10% gonna do? Cheaper to go on a train to town, get a Sub for lunch and buy it on a disc.
@AyeHaley Yes and no to multiple titles. It's the whole basket, so if you get REmake and something else at the same time it's 10% off both. Get them separately though and you're paying full price for one (and practically full price for the discounted one too to be honest).
