@Jonny Was never an apology, it's always been a cheap way of saving face while saying "sod you" to customers. Ever since the E3 where they trolled Microsoft (2013) every tiny thing they've done has been another shot in the foot. It's like they don't know what to do when winning, like they need to be the underdog.
@Godsire- I said this when they first announced it and got a load of grief. Sony are just fulfilling their contractual obligations which if they didn't people can actually sue them for because of a by-law. Yet they're being made out to be doing us a massive favour. Same with this 10% discount nonsense (now even worse as it's one weekend only not whenever we wanted like they first said). A 10% discount makes nearly everything in the PS Store still more expensive than disc. Wow, what a treat.
@thedevilsjester Separate trophy list and I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Why I didn't buy it for Vita (well that and it plays like a dogs dinner). Played the game God knows how many times and only thing that would make me touch it on PS4 would be earning something from it. Nothing is being added, it will look no different, why should I purchase the game again? Not even about trophies (although I am a trophy whore sadly) there's just no incentive for a Borderlands nut like myself to touch this if there is no separate trophy list.
Considering everything on the store is stupidly overpriced (just like on Xbox Live and Nintendo's eShop) the discount will still make it more expensive than buying discs. No thanks.
Have to say though, Sony committing you to spend in a three day period, when we have just had Christmas and many people won't get paid until the end of the month is either incredibly stupid or a big sod you to customers.
@BLPs Because pickle, whether you like or approve of the game or not is irrelevant. Not my cup of tea but they're are if there are people who want to make and who want to get it then fair play to them. They don't need to ask you. Don't like it? Don't buy it and don't whine about it.
@Gamer83 Agree entirely. Sadly people love to complain then praise though. I know it's completely different but Liverpool FC have been playing garbage thanks to our manager playing our captain where he just cannot play. Everyone and his wife has said "move him forward!" but he refused. All of a sudden he has, we look better and now people are saying he deserves praise for having the balls to do that and he's a tactical genius.
@MinerWilly @MinerWilly I think @ShogunRok is a scouser too. Know he supports Liverpool but not sure if he's from town.
Damn that jacket is nice. I'm a sucker at the moment for videogame clothing. Just bought Delsin's jacket-thing, the PlayStation Christmas jumper, the Sonic Christmas jumper, Sonic socks and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax with the Junes shirt (that smells of BBQ sauce). The missus is gonna kill me :')
@MinerWilly I actually bought the download just now as I had a £20 PSN voucher left over from Christmas so thought 'why not?' When I actually go on it over the weekend I'll add you and probably get slaughtered by you. I'm awful at driving games but enjoy them.
@bman2112 The PS+ edition will never happen. It would have been here by now if it was coming. In around a years time the whole game will be one of the monthly free games and that's it.
It's £20 or £25 depending which branch of CEX you go into (Bootle and both in Liverpool the first, Southport and Birkenhead the latter near me) and Tesco have it for £22. People may as well get it while it's this price as this PS+ edition is arriving the same day as Last Guardian and Shenmue 3.
Not interested in the slightest. May be good for the odd month now and then when it reaches the shores of Albion but can't honestly see me ever touching it. Intrigued to see if the "lets port every PS3 game to PS4 because suckers will buy it" plan continues with this around. Clue: it will.
@Knocks Just like people were brainwashed in 2013 into thinking The Last Of Us is a good game rather than a stunning experience with pathetically little gameplay Or, alternatively, people are allowed to think a game you don't like (Destiny) or I don't like (TLOU) is a good game.
@Midzark FIFA 15 seems really flat to me. It just never feels right. Considering its on new hardware the commentary is severely limited compared to previous versions too.
@ZBomber No worries. I've not slept yet this year so I may have made a mess of what I was trying to say, haha.
@Tiberius30 Too tired to work out if that's sarcasm or not. If so then ignore this. If not then you need locking up. I got a Wii U over Christmas and when I went online to buy the Mario Kart 8 DLC I was shocked by how shoddy the online service was, same when I went online on both the game and Smash. It's better than the Wii but the Dreamcast's online structure was better than the Wii. And there'd be no point attacking the Nintendo Network as it would only bother a handful of people and the Lizard idiots wouldn't get any attention off of that.
@Hawk Nintendo offered something with Wii U. If you got the 'premium' edition of the console you got some sort of money back from each digital purchase that you could store up and use. Or maybe when it reached a certain amount you could, not entirely sure. Something like that is a good start. If we're going digital only like these companies want us to then incentives like that have to happen a lot more often. Even something like every pound spent gets you a point and if you reach say 100 points you get a free indie game or can save it up for, I dunno, 250 points to get a fully fledged game.
@ZBomber I only mention it as the word 'extends' in the articles title isn't correct is all. What I'm trying to say is that it's not a massive gesture or anything, it's just doing what they have to do because of the law. If they didn't give us the five days back then people who know about that by law (if that's even the name of it) could complain and get compensated, even if it was just a few pennies. Then others start doing it. Before you know it it's a mess. It's saving face and trying to get a bit of good publicity after they fibbed (intentionally or through misinformation) about PSN being fixed days before it actually was. Microsoft will have to repay the people who missed a day or two as well.
@get2sammyb I'm sure no-one at Sony was ignoring it but you have to admit they hardly give off an impression of professionalism in seeming like they're burying their heads in the sand. You yourself wrote an article slamming them for doing just that before they broke radio silence. Improving that is a must. And yeah I'm not sure of any of the details and maybe Sony were hit harder and it was difficult but maybe they were hit lower and their incompetence hindered them like it did a few years back and recently with the leaks from their movie division. We don't know. To me though Sony give off the impression that they don't have a clue what they're doing and simple things like communication would improve that vastly. On the network side of it whether Microsoft have two devices, one or thirty they got it sorted much faster than Sony. That needs to be looked into at a matter of urgency inside the company and is something I would prefer they spent the money on they will be giving away with 10% discounts is all.
@ZBomber You pay for a year and then you don't get a year. You complain. Some by law of the contract entitles you to having those five days. Happened with me a couple of years ago when o2 internet went down for ten days and the guy on the phone told me to enquire about having ten days for 'free'. This is just what Sony are doing.
@Hawk It ain't just Sony, they all do it. Nintendo are still charging nearly £50 for Super Mario 3D World on the eShop. Sadly they all just sell at the RRP when if a game is £40 in a shop it should be at the very least £35 online. Especially if they want us to go all digital one day. Or send the disc in the post like Sky do with their Buy and Keep promotion maybe.
@get2sammyb Hiring people to at least resolve issues in a day or two like Microsoft rather than five would be a massive improvement though, no? A compensation package isn't needed by Sony but people who know what they're doing (no idea about all this myself) is needed as every division of the company just doesn't seem to understand internet security. Maybe some lessons in keeping people up to date rather than burying their heads in the sand too.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare ignored yet again. More fun than every game in that list combined. After Mario Kart 8 it's game of the year for me on all formats.
Extended? No. Gave us the days back we paid for and are entitled to by law. Bare minimum they could do. 10% discount is okay, I guess. Doubt I'll use it for anything much as nearly everything on the store is 20% more expensive than retail so it's not beneficial. Better than nowt though I guess. Think we'd all prefer if they used the money they'll lose on this 10% discount to hire people to help stop this crap happening again, or is that too much like a solution?
Heard good things about The Swapper so I'll try that. First Light I've Platted but it's good fun for the handful of hours it lasts. Duck Tales and Duke Nukem are games I've hated for years so no thanks. Prototype I'll try as never seen a single second of it, same with Whoa Dave. Seems an average month to be fair, fooling people with a 'big' name when it's just a glorified expansion. Better than the last nine months though so that's progress!
@ZeD Sadly I doubt that'll happen. Would be nice but this last few months Sony seem to be doing everything then can to put people off, not put them back on side.
@WARDIE I haven't been able to send a single message on the PS4 or app since the start of October. None of these 'fixes' from Sony have worked for more than a handful. Some have said its better at times when Americans are asleep but it just never works. I'm getting used to Sony's incompetence now though.
Notifications when people come on is a must. Ridiculous that it wasn't included from day one. Allow us to pick who (or turn it off if you want) and there's no problem.
Rest Mode working properly for all would be nice. The briefest of looks on Google shows I am far from the only one who never has updates download and installed, ever. Soon as I turn the machine on they start downloading.
Folders, proper ones, are simple enough.
Messages go without saying. Staggering that over a year on they still don't work. Tiny companies have created massive social media messaging services like Kik and Whatsapp to all sorts of devices yet Sony can't work out how one PS4 can message another? Pathetic. Sort it out.
PS App needs to be fixed too. Messaging on that is worse than PS4 at times. Include the Store on the app too.
The What's New bit for me is a waste of time at the moment. Allowing us to post comments on people's activities or even post screenshots on there would be a nice touch, along with the stats/ranks @get2sammyb suggests.
The page for each game (when you press down and see Trophies, who's played) could do with more too. Maybe allow comments from friends, little reviews (rather than a thumb up) and screenshots/videos we've done ourselves? Make it feel more social, something the console talked up yet has never done.
Customisable themes.
A built in "We're sorry" notification when online goes down.
PS App is working as well as it was before Christmas (which isn't saying much) but the all three PlayStation consoles are still offline for me in Liverpool. All were working fine til just before 3am when it signed me out as I was watching Captain America 2 on Now TV. Gone way beyond an annoyance now. Glad I'm not paying for PSN... oh.
@JamieF1 Their incompetence has made most of us unable to get online days after Microsoft fixed the problem and even after Sony have said the problem is fixed. They even stayed quiet on the issue for far too long. It's not like it's even the first time Sony have screwed up fixing PSN. Now we pay for it it's got worse. Sony are getting a kicking as they deserve it.
@MadchesterManc PvZ was something nearly all big or little releases weren't for me this year: fun. That for me is the most important thing. It's one of only four games (GTA V, Smash and Project Diva F 2nd being the others) I've regularly returned to because it's so enjoyable. There's been games I enjoyed - Second Son, First Light and sadly Persona Q for example - but once over I've felt no need or want to return to them.
The forthcoming 'leaked' police footage of him being thrown onto the floor outside his Mum's house while he's in tears will be rather amusing to watch.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare or GTA V. Neither are in the list so vote from me. From the games in the list I'd say COD is the best but even that is no way near my game of the year. I've either played them and moderately enjoyed them (COD, PT), found them utter garbage (Watch Dogs, LBP3) or not tried them once or enough to pass judgement (the rest).
Also, PT while rather good, isn't a game. It's a Playable Trailer. Clue is in the name.
Still can't even see my friends list, despite me getting notifications for friend and real name requests in the last hour. I'm not angry or anything though. I expect this from Sony to be honest. For the players.
Had my PS4 just over a year now and I still haven't got this working. Everything is set up yet it never, ever works. Looking online it seems I'm not the only one. For the majority it works, for some it works occasionally and for the unlucky it hasn't worked once. All I'd like is a console that works as its meant to. Like they used to.
@Boerewors I absolutely adore Peggle. Since my first go on Peggle 2 four weeks ago I haven't gone back once. It just leaves me cold. Dunno why. Hopefully when I Do finally go back to it will be click properly with me.
End of the day if you really give a damn about your machine having better games than another you need to take a look at yourself and grow up. Who cares what machine you have other than yourself? If you can play the games you want that's all that matters. The Wii U has amazing games, the PS4 has amazing games, the Xbox One has amazing games, PC has amazing games, 3DS has amazing games and Vita has amazing games. It's that simple.
@Vorlon There's a difference in using the same characters and rehashing the same game, something people seem to accept when it suits them. COD rehashes the same concepts in each game but gives you a slightly different story, Mario has a single level other people would make a whole game out, Tomb Raider is just bigger and prettier each time. Three random examples there. You see a COD and you know its the same. You see a Mario - or any platformer for that matter - and you think it's the same til you play it. The reason I still play Mario games is each is different, NSMB2 is no way near a rehash of Mario 2 for example. I grew up a Sega fanboy, and it's where my heart still belongs, but once Sonic went crap I tried a Mario, something I had detested as a kid, and realised how wrong I was and how much I had to catch up on.
@MadchesterManc Or rather than nostalgia it's an opinion, no? @get2sammyb can't see our love of Hatsune Miku, doesn't mean he's wrong (well, almost) just of a different taste. If as a reviewer of any medium you mark something higher up for any reason, be it nostalgia or bribe, you shouldn't be reviewing. Same the other way ("too much water"). Must be hundreds of people on nostalgia trips, all in the industry, to apply that "constant lavishing" on Nintendo. I for the life of me can't see why anyone would give any Naughty Dog game a mark higher than 5, doesn't mean I think they're all on a Crash Bandicoot nostalgia trip.
@Cloud7794 This just in! Company uses information (true or not) to make their product seem better than the opposition. Well I never. That sort of dark trickery would never happen in any other way of life... Oh... it does, daily. And Sony have been guilty of it many times as well - as have nearly every company to have ever existed.
@AG_Awesome Hahaha. What? The sales have been beyond a joke. A sale is cheap, not still more than retail. Least you have a wide range of sales and the added bonus of PS+ members getting a better deal, something nearly all the European sales have lacked.
@get2sammyb Maybe if all these leaked emails had been sent over PSN there'd be now Sony/Interview/North Korea scandal as none of the sodding messages would've been sent.
Finally, over a year after release it may be possible to send messages properly. How about fixing the app too? Would be nice being able to read a message without waiting half an hour and sending one without it timing out every time. If tiny start-up companies can make messaging apps and create social media phenomeons like Kik, Whatsapp and Snapchat you'd think a massive company like Sony could make an app that sends messages. Too much to ask?
@3Above Forgot all about Velocity 2X, may go on to that instead. Oh, and it likely would be that way haha. Or get a gun, take out all of One Direction and then laugh myself to death.
Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time. It's like someone took Jet Force Gemini, added in characters out of a bad '50s Warner Bros cartoon, tried hard to be funny and then realised they'd forgot to add in anything other than shoot/jump/repeat. Not been so bored by a game in ages. Probably move on to Far Cry 4 tomorrow as after watching Arsenal give us a hiding playing R&C:ACIT will probably bore me into suicide.
@MinerWilly Most of the 'cranks' complained when it wasn't working and said it looked a good game but never worked. Not a surprise people are enjoying it now its finally working. But the one thing people love to moan about more than anything is moaning about moaning.
So this, Borderlands, Game Of Thrones, Walking Dead 3 and Wolf Among Us 2? They're becoming as bad as Lego games (he says while buying every sodding Lego and Telltale game). I suppose if they build the story around Minecraft, as in a group of people in the 'real' world who play Minecraft it could open up story possibilities and be quite neat. As of now I can't understand why, bar money, they'd do it but until we see it we can't judge.
Alternatively, my six year old nephew who's read the article while with me on the bus is now so excited he looks like if we got off the bus he could backflip all the ten mile journey to his mums. If it's a kids game with enough narrative and choices for them to get then it could really clean up.
@KAPADO More than likely actually, knowing the Japanese. Thing is, with all the special editions and now cases you can get people will buy a second, third, fourth console. It's the way it's always been from Game Boy to 3DS and it works every time. So why, yet again, did Sony not do the same? It's like they wanted the Vita to fail.
@FullbringIchigo I don't think it will be anything near what we imagine. Microsoft know they won't do well in Japan so it would have been budgeted accordingly. A million sales for them over the consoles lifespan is likely the aim.
@KAPADO As a Sony fanboy I wouldn't look at the 3DS numbers then, you'll contemplate suicide. More than twice as much as the PS4 (over five times the Vita) for a handheld console that is close to four years old in a country where three in four people already have one, probably two. That is just devastating. With a new Animal Crossing on the way, Majora's Mask, Xenoblade Chronicles, S.T.E.A.M., Etrian Mystery Dungeon, a Hatsune Miku game, TheAtRhythm: Dragon Quest and - lets face it - another Pokémon those numbers ain't dropping any time soon. It's staggering. To think at launch the 3DS was a failure too, massive credit must go to Nintendo for turning it around spectacularly. Shame Sony didn't even try the same with the Vita which is, arguably, the better machine.

@WARDIE No, it hasn't. The amount of people still having problems with it far, far outweigh the lucky few who have it working.
Re: Feature: 10 PS4 Firmware Update Features That Need to Be Added in 2015
Notifications when people come on is a must.
Re: Sony Suggests a PS4 Reboot if You Still Can't Sign in to PSN
Re: Christmas Will Last Longer in Grand Theft Auto Online on PS4, PS3
Where are the gifts anyway? Went on on Christmas morning, no gift. Last night, no gift. Earlier on, no gift :/
Re: Rumour: Rebecca Chambers Will Return in Resident Evil Zero on PS4, PS3
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi You just know Sega are stupid enough to remaster every game they've ever made... apart from Shenmue one and two.
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS4 Games of 2014
@MadchesterManc PvZ was something nearly all big or little releases weren't for me this year: fun.
Re: Meet the Man Who Stole Christmas for PS4 Fans
The forthcoming 'leaked' police footage of him being thrown onto the floor outside his Mum's house while he's in tears will be rather amusing to watch.
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS4 Games of 2014
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare or GTA V.
Re: Sony Engineers Investigating as PS4 Goes Offline Again
Still can't even see my friends list, despite me getting notifications for friend and real name requests in the last hour. I'm not angry or anything though. I expect this from Sony to be honest. For the players.
Re: Talking Point: Which PS4 Games Are You Most Looking Forward to in 2015?
No Man's Sky, Persona 5 and Batman. Literally all I'm wanting. Looks like 2015 is going to be even quieter than this year...
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS Vita Games of 2014
Hatunse Muku: Project DIVA F 2nd was the best Vita game this year by a country mile. We all know it.
Re: Sony's Cancelled Movie The Interview Is Out Now, But Not on PSN Yet
Let's try and keep the discussion's civil and not point fingers at people. Thanks -Tasuki-
Re: Guide: How to Download and Install PS4 Games and Patches in Rest Mode
Had my PS4 just over a year now and I still haven't got this working. Everything is set up yet it never, ever works. Looking online it seems I'm not the only one. For the majority it works, for some it works occasionally and for the unlucky it hasn't worked once. All I'd like is a console that works as its meant to. Like they used to.
Re: Sony Brings Glad Tidings with Bumper PS4, PS3, Vita EU Sale
@Boerewors I absolutely adore Peggle. Since my first go on Peggle 2 four weeks ago I haven't gone back once. It just leaves me cold. Dunno why. Hopefully when I Do finally go back to it will be click properly with me.
Re: Actually, PS4 Had the Most Great Games This Year
End of the day if you really give a damn about your machine having better games than another you need to take a look at yourself and grow up.
Re: Far Cry 4 and Freedom Wars Scale Final EU Christmas Sale
@AG_Awesome Hahaha. What? The sales have been beyond a joke. A sale is cheap, not still more than retail. Least you have a wide range of sales and the added bonus of PS+ members getting a better deal, something nearly all the European sales have lacked.
Re: Sony Will Fix PS4 Messages in Future Firmware Update
@get2sammyb Maybe if all these leaked emails had been sent over PSN there'd be now Sony/Interview/North Korea scandal as none of the sodding messages would've been sent.
Re: Sony Will Fix PS4 Messages in Future Firmware Update
Finally, over a year after release it may be possible to send messages properly. How about fixing the app too? Would be nice being able to read a message without waiting half an hour and sending one without it timing out every time. If tiny start-up companies can make messaging apps and create social media phenomeons like Kik, Whatsapp and Snapchat you'd think a massive company like Sony could make an app that sends messages. Too much to ask?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 50
@3Above Forgot all about Velocity 2X, may go on to that instead. Oh, and it likely would be that way haha. Or get a gun, take out all of One Direction and then laugh myself to death.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 50
Re: Minecraft: Story Mode Is the Latest Episodic Adventure from Telltale Games
Re: Wait, the PS4's Not Dead in Japan After All?
@KAPADO More than likely actually, knowing the Japanese. Thing is, with all the special editions and now cases you can get people will buy a second, third, fourth console. It's the way it's always been from Game Boy to 3DS and it works every time. So why, yet again, did Sony not do the same? It's like they wanted the Vita to fail.
@FullbringIchigo I don't think it will be anything near what we imagine. Microsoft know they won't do well in Japan so it would have been budgeted accordingly. A million sales for them over the consoles lifespan is likely the aim.
Re: Wait, the PS4's Not Dead in Japan After All?
