I've always thought it's a bit crazy the amount they end up discounting games not long after launch. No wonder so many people end up holding out for sales. From a business point of view the Nintendo way of not discounting, and if they do not by very much, works a lot better surely as if people really want it they are just as well off buying it day 1 as to day 365. I very rarely buy games at full price but when something comes along that really piques my interest then I'll happily part with some money to support the effort that's gone into it. I mean if a game is priced £70 and I play for 50 hours then that's just £1.40 an hour. That doesn't sound too bad really compare to the price of a day out.
Ours is getting used daily, and lately that's thanks to Returnal. Games on that level will definitely make me want to play more but also some of the releases on PS+ have been pretty good as well.
Looks and sounds great and my kids can't wait to get hold of this as well. Both are big fans since we played through all the R&C games on PS Now and the PS4 remake last year.
@get2sammyb One of the things that made the first game so good was how compelling the story was. It made you want to dive deeper into the world and find out more about it. How does this compare?
Hopefully it will continue to sell as more PS5s become available. It's one of those games that really showcases the power of the console and I think it's turned a few heads from some of the comments I've seen.
Can't believe I missed this yesterday but I was too busy with the family, making up for all those hours that I've spent playing this damn game.
Seriously though I have it at outstanding. It's easily the best thing I've played in ages and that's not because I've been playing terrible games - it's just that good. I never thought I'd enjoy replaying the same bits over and over again but I really enjoy the build up to the boss fights. Trying to build the right perks and items up and not lose them from having a gamble too far.
I can totally get the rouge like thing and the difficulty level as the game makes you work for every victory, and every victory tastes that much sweeter because of it. As other have mentioned you come out of the boss fights shaking from all the effort but filled with elation from having done it. And if you don't do it, hell you go back for more.
@Iroha Ha ha yep I know, that was my reaction too. I think I sunk something like 50-60 hours into this game, and like you say there are some really terrifying bits that you have to work through, only to go and find out afterwards that I could have done it all in 1 hour!! I wouldn't have had so much fun that way though.
There's only so far you'd get even with these cheats though, you'd still have to be good to complete the game. They aren't like the Subnautica ones where you can pretty much just warp around the map and finish everything in an hour.
@RudeAnimat0r @blinx01 Not necessarily. It causes more damage to Playstation because it was initially named as one of the bigger launch games. Sony has been pushing PS5 based on the strengths of its launch lineup whereas MS have been pushing Xbox based on GP and backwards compatibility and as far as I know haven't mentioned Deathloop at all other than to say that they would be honouring the exclusivity period.
I'm still unsure of the rogue-lite aspect of it but it does look great. If they've managed to engineer it so that it doesn't feel a chore to redo bits over and over then I will definitely be up for trying it.
Looking forward to seeing the Push Square review for this one as it does look rather good. I'm really interested to see how the shortcuts thing is implemented and if it's going to end up being much of a chore to get back to where you were when you die.
Add me to the list of people that will probably jump into VR this gen. Love the tech in the DualSense so I can only imagine how good that will be when coupled with VR. Would also be great if they do some backwards compatibility so that I can go back and check out some of the games I've missed from PSVR1.
I'm still playing probably every other day but usually manage to find a match reasonably quickly. I just tried to get a quick game at lunch though and couldn't find a match on any of the modes but then it is during the day for Europe. It would be great if they added an option to be able to queue for multiple modes at once though as that would make it easier to get into a match.
Not sure I'd be in for the competitive sort of stuff as I've so far only won one solo game but if it's teams then that might make a difference.
The story looks interesting and it's good to see how they are going about weaving in the rougelike theme. The only other rougelike I've tried is Dead Cells and I didn't get very far on that so hoping the fact that there's a bigger budget here with a story can make that sort of game more appealing.
Bought this at the weekend on the phone app and chose the option to download to the console from there. It managed to install both versions but the PS4 one was the version if decided to use when my other half first played it. I then had to move the cloud save over to the PS5 version of it and delete the PS4 version as that was 45 gig whereas the PS5 version is only 20 gig. Shame they don't seem to be able to sort that out so it's easier to see which version you are installing / playing. Oddly with some games it seems to say PS4 in the title but with crash it didn't.
Going to try and finish Spider-Man Remastered and then I’m tempted to go straight into MM. Also started playing Donut County, which is a most bizarre game, so might finish that off.
They really don't need to do some mega purchase like MS did, but instead probably just need to invest in a few more smaller studios that make really good solid games e.g. Housemark / Bluepoint / Remedy.
Then what would be really great would be if PS Plus or Now had this stream of smaller games from the 1st party studios that would then be exclusive to that / those services. I'm thinking along the lines of what Disney is doing with still churning out lots of big Avengers and Star Wars movies but then they've got these spinoffs available on their streaming service to get fans of the films hooked into that. Imagine if there were some DLC for the likes of Spider-Man or a smaller spin off to Horizon that was only available on the subscription service, that would give you a great reason to sign up if you enjoyed the main games.
It does look super cool but this is one of those games that makes me want to buy it based on the style alone, and I know it's not going to be my sort of thing. That and the fact that any additional content or sequel is likely to be xbox only means that it's especially not worth it for me. Be interesting to see how it does sales wise for that reason and that this one is at a slightly cheaper price point compared to other PS5 games.
I don't think I've really played anything from Bethesda except Dishonoured and I can't say I enjoyed that too much either. Even if there was something truly great on the horizon from them there's just so many great high quality games to enjoy on Playstation I don't think I could find the time to invest in another system anyway. It would be a shame for others to miss out on those franchises they enjoy though but that's the nature of the industry unfortunately.
There has to be a reason for people to want to stick with your platform, be that a physical machine or a streaming service. If all games were available on all platforms then it's easier to not stay with just one or switch completely, and as we head towards streaming the switching will be easier as there's less initial outlay for any hardware. I'd imagine MS made this purchase to keep their subscription service fuelled with games on a monthly basis, even if the quality is lower, that way people will continue to subscribe. I'd imagine that Sony will have to do something similar sooner or later but it might be that they just change from making all AAA exclusives to having each studio work on one AAA and some A or AA games or additional DLC so that they can keep that churn of releases going.
I would have actually bought this so great that it's a PS+ game. Which reminds me has anyone tried Superliminal as that looks like a similar style of game?
Still haven't got around to playing Spider-Man MM as I've currently finishing Spider-Man Remastered. Really enjoying it even though I played through the first game and all the DLC when it first came out but really looking forward to seeing how they've moved things on with MM.
There's so much work that goes into these games it really seems a shame not to make more of all that time and effort. This way more money comes back into the PS ecosystem from people that most likely wouldn't have bought a PS anyway. Also it's unlikely that it's going to be any PS5 games that leverage the new hardware as that support isn't necessarily going to be available on PC, lots of people out there are still using slow mechanical hard drives etc. There's also plenty of people like me that aren't ever likely to own a PC and actually do prefer console gaming.
Still playing at least one or two games most nights, and enjoying it. There seems to be plenty of other people playing too as I think the longest I've had to wait for match making has been a minute or two.
@Wazeddie22 Gridfall is my favourite as well and having come 2nd a few times I've been close to that solo win. Annoyingly I was down to the last two the other night and must have been sleeping as I got barged clean off the grid by the other player.
@Playstation Totally agree, I've really enjoyed Sackboy so hope more people also grab a copy. Sumo definitely deserve some credit for making a great 3D platformer. In fact we enjoyed it so much that it's got us back into playing LittleBigPlanet 3 which is actually way better than I remember.
These prices are definitely here to stay. The way I look at it is that it's just a matter of letting those with lots of money buy at that price point so that the rest of us can come in and buy at a reasonable price when there's a discount. It's a shame that you don't get to play the game at release but the upside is that there's more high quality games available.
I really got into the other Ratchet and Clank games recently so can't wait to play this. Will just have to decide if it's worth paying full price for though. Really hoping that there's plenty more PS5 stock at retailers soon so you guys who haven't managed to get one yet can grab one.
@hobbes242 Sounds like it's worth giving them a go then. I quite like crazy taxi style games. I can't remember what it was called but one of the mini games in Days Gone was like that but with a golf buggy.
@Voltan ah yes you are right thanks for pointing that out 🤦♂️. That’s a shame then as would have been better to have a way to unlock those just through game play. In fact the least they could do would be to make them a fairer price.
Sounds good. I haven't even touched the challenges yet as they replied on the Allstar coins so I might give those a go. I think the first one is free anyway but that seems much fairer being able to also earn in game.
Not had the stick drift but we did send one back due to it having a really annoying rattle when the haptics fired. The one that came with the console and the replacement spare have both been fine so far though.
I'm still enjoying this game as a before and after my main game sort of thing. I only really enjoy gridfall and carnado though as they offer something else additional to just smashing other cars. So far I think it's the basis for a good game and just needs some more modes, arenas, and vehicles etc building in. Like others have said, it's not something I'd have paid full price for but this is the type of game that works on PS+ as it gets a good audience of people trying it out and more will have stuck with it than ever will have bought it.
I had a couple of goes on Destruction Allstars just after it was available at midnight and I quite enjoyed it. It's probably something I will dip in and out of rather than something I play all the time, just like Fall Guys, but as a PS+ game it's a great addition.
Can't wait to play this again. I played through on the base PS4 and was happy enough even though it really struggled at times. I'm also glad that I can't carry over my save games as it gives me the chance to experience it right from the beginning again without having any upgrades.
The badminton club that I go to originally had a pay as you go price and a monthly subscription price. When sustainability of the club became an issue rather than drop the price of the monthly subscription to make it look more attractive they basically put the price of the pay as you go option up. That had the effect of basically annoying anyone that only wanted to go a few times a month rather than increasing the numbers that were paying monthly. Not saying that's definitely going to happen here but time will tell.
I can imagine it looks better for MS to show that GP has a bigger number of subscribers than other services out there and if you've already got existing customers then easier just to convert those than get new users from outside of the xbox eco-system.
@ScottyG As @Voltan mentioned Sackboy is really good. I've been playing it through solo or with the family at various different times using local coop. There's now network coop too and definitely something for everyone. The earlier levels are great for the kids to get them into it without giving them too much grief and the later levels can be a real challenge even for the adults. I'm definitely going for the platinum!
I almost hope it's not a PS5 upgrade for DS as that means I'd end up spending even more time on top of the 250 hrs I've apparently put into it. That's the trouble with those extra stats on PS5.
That's crazy. I would like one as well as an extra controller but as they aren't available from the usual retail channels then I'll just wait. I saw on a few places like smyths they are saying restock date is December so that's not too far away. It's a shame that these people get away with doing this but unfortunately it is people buying things off of them for stupid money that fuels them in the first place.

You've got to start wondering if this is not some ploy by their new owners to ensure that new releases on PS5 are as thin on the ground as Xbox 🤔

@wiiware Yes fair point, I forgot that the GoT one was really detailed. That would be great if they did the same for this.

I saw on a few places like smyths they are saying restock date is December so that's not too far away. It's a shame that these people get away with doing this but unfortunately it is people buying things off of them for stupid money that fuels them in the first place.
