That was awesome! Unlucky Masher and Ven but Sauceless had you! Also GirlfromCroydons shooters are starting to approach release level - everyone needs to give them a go!

The snow gardens is my favourite game, love everything about it. Thanks for showing the show PushSquare and @Quintumply you really should give me the go ahead for a PushSquare jam. You would love it!

Re: Wow, This New Unreal Engine Tech Is Mind Blowing

themcnoisy

@KippDynamite nobody will remember then. Microtransactions - notably loot boxes and rubbish like dlc songs and on release day dlc characters. But hey ho. It is what it is.

Funnily since being more accepting of that nonesense Ive had fun with Rocket League season passes. Which are good fun tbh. But yeah the cost to produce versus retail price plus micros is ridiculous.

Re: Wow, This New Unreal Engine Tech Is Mind Blowing

themcnoisy

With all this new tech I'm worried that only the top creators take advantage of it. A lot of the AA publishers graphics are way worse usually, looking at my PS4 library.

The gap between older games was insignificant really. Last gen there was a big difference between Sony's output compared to every other developer - the gap is only going to get bigger this gen.

Re: Hitman Fans Think IO Interactive May Be Able to Predict the Future

themcnoisy

@Boxmonkey it's more than that, everyone who dipped in has now realised how corrupt the system is. So corrupt we end up with crappy companies

I kind of knew about squeezing and facilitating market conditions, but nothing like what's happened the last few days. It's grim and markets are just a front to keep rich people rich.

Re: Hitman Fans Think IO Interactive May Be Able to Predict the Future

themcnoisy

@Boxmonkey everyone made money, it's weird I've used Reddit for a while and lost some money on the top tips out of that thread. So decided to stick with stuff I know like games publishers and phone / internet networks. Built a decent portfolio and made a few grand.

The GME stuff was different. The hedge funds short failing businesses to make short term profit which has a known side effect of damaging business resulting in closure. A big example is toys r us which was forced to shut due to continuos shorting. Not gonna happen this time and we made money. I made £300 off one share. Gutted I never bought more but I've been stung before.

Re: Game of the Year: #7 - Dreams

@naruball Hi Naru. Off the top of my head Octane and Pollen. Haven't been on for a while but if you log in there are about 50 good games ready to go. Have a look at GirlFromCroydons shooters or OOODorien who makes a lot of good stuff too. Then music wise listen to Back2Man his tune 2 souls is amazing. There is also1hr 30minute Bee film which is pretty good for an amateur project.

Re: Ubisoft Shoves XP Boosting Microtransaction into Assassin's Creed Valhalla a Month After Launch

themcnoisy

The problem isn't you can spend your money how you want - of course you can.

But as we have all witnessed when the games become so drawn out you start reaching for your wallet - the games been designed to make you do that. That's bad for everyone. What about the time poor and cash strapped? Screw them right?

As for people willing to spend a tenner because of bad game design. You are just rewarding nefarious behaviour from the publishers.

Remember cheats back in the day? Brilliant idea.
No we now have to pay extra for an xp boost. Who's to say the next patch along won't nerf xp gain further making the boost essential? Honestly the whole gaming monetisation rubbish has ruined gaming for me. They are making more money than ever and games by third party publishers are just cash cows designed to get kids to buy vouchers with their pocket money and it's just rubbish.

Re: Dreams PS4 Update 2.20 Available to Download Now, Here Are the Patch Notes

@LieutenantFatman I will send you a list of the best games in a day or two. Want to get the definitive list and send it over for everyone. Will ask the big curators and then everyone can have a go. In the meantime search for the_tenia and he has a score wars contest, those games are usually decent.

If you can LF listen to my tune Rocket Fuel. It's a song so you can't search on the Dreamiverse but look up my name mc_noisy and it's one of the last songs I've made. It's the best song I've ever made!

@iKickBullies @TeapotBuddha if you love music production you will love Dreams. I haven't updated my YouTube videos properly and my latest stuff is better but have a listen to this;

https://youtube.com/watch?v=RPKVudqkaEU

In fact some things in Dreams are better than a typical PC DAW. Once you work out all the nuances you can include animations to automate wave forms which is like way advanced. Here's another example;

https://youtube.com/watch?v=HztnOaWf0RU&t=2s

Again these are from a few months ago and I've got well better by joining up with the Dreams Sounds Monday crew and my abilities have levelled up.

Re: The Elder Scrolls VI Appears on Official PlayStation Blog's 'Most Anticipated Game' Vote

themcnoisy

@TheRedComet I think you are right. Bethesda will be Xbox platforms only. Elder Scrolls is a big system seller, so is Fallout. Then Doom is a big game arguably a system seller for 40 odd year olds. There's no way they will cross platform those 3.

I know everyone looks at Minecraft but Minecraft was already on loads of platforms before Microsoft bought it. Where's Forza, Halo, Gears and Fable?

Re: Soapbox: Demon's Souls' Difficulty Shouldn't Deter You from Playing PS5's Best Game

themcnoisy

I'm not a fan of Souls games but see the allure. Arduous with big kicks to the nuts when you die and have to trek miles to pick up your old gear. The euphoria of beating a boss doesn't mitigate the frustration of getting killed and losing all your stuff. A few games have gone down this path, Hollow Knight in particular is a good example. It's brilliant until you lose 800 in game credits trying to get back to your body.

They review well which is understandable. And for many the win after a struggle is massive. But for me the payoff isn't worth the time investment. The good thing is that these games have an audience and a developer keen to make them. I think that's a win for everyone.

Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?

themcnoisy

I'm happy to wait. A bit jealous for sure but the storage is a big issue - hopefully a solution comes around and it's not an additional £200+ for the proprietary SSD. Combined with £70 games and yeah I can wait. See what the scene is like in March/April.

Re: Fuser (PS4) - A Bold New Frontier for Rhythm Games

themcnoisy

@gbanas92 only just seen the review. How does the game score you? In rhythm action you usually hit a button at the right time. If you are free-forming mixes it would surely need another method of scoring?

Or is the point of the game a toolkit for musicians?

Re: Sony Considered Raising PS5 Game Prices Beyond $70, Says New Report

themcnoisy

@TG16_IS_BAE fair enough if you live in Country not in recession. I mentioned it was £140 for 2 games that clearly indicates I'm in the UK or a few satellite countries within our political orbit like Gibraltar or the Falklands.

It is the worst recession since the second world war. I'm unsure how safe in your job you personally are but things have got spikey here and taxes will inevitably rise to pay for the various schemes and expenditure incurred throughout the crisis. We have the highest unemployment since 2016 and it's being propped up by furlough schemes, without them it would be back to the 80s.

You equally compared a CEO to a stockholder. They are different. As a silent partner or public investor they do significantly less work than a worker. As they don't do a dot other than a financial transaction. I know I am one and it's spare cash other less fortunate people don't have.

Also game prices have changed. I keep hearing chuff of how games were £60 back in the day. This was an extreme price in the 90s. Most cartridges were under £40 usually less, until the heavy meg carts were introduced and Nintendo were taken to task for price fixing and rightfully fined. Disc based games were always cheaper - highlighted when the PS1 released and games were £30 for the latest games. Activision have less employees and less aftercare (shutting the Irish help centre as an example) than 5 years ago. Demon Souls is a remake - so the source material is already there, no need for researchers, writers, mechanic developers and character designers - just money for usually cheaper artists and graphical designers. Bluepoint has around 90 staff, if they all averaged £40,000 (way over the average UK employee) a year it would equate to 7.2million over 2 years. To make the money back they need to sell 120,000 copies at £60 a pop. That's it. If it goes on to sell a 3 million copies its grossly in profit to the sum of £172,800,000 at £60 a game.

Now you tell me why I need to pay £70 a game?
