Re: Not Everyone's Impressed with PS5's New DualSense Edge Pad

themcnoisy

@uptownsoul you are correct and possibly wrong at the same time.

Depending on what happens next with geopolitics are economies could regress worse than the credit crunch. I had a start up business prior to 08 and noticed some strange things going on. It was very different to now. You could get 7/8% interest (coming on around 11% APR) on regular savings and it was a really weird but amazing time. The ninja mortgages and gimmicks caught up with the financial system in the end and it collapsed like a house of cards. The debt incurred by governments bailing out banks was the reason for austerity. Simple really.

This time international trade has started to falter. Nationalism rose post 2008 (blame Johnny foreigner). Capitalism has taken a monopolistical turn for the worse and the mega rich company owners have their own political strategies and planted politicians. Workers are having rights stripped away and the politicians in charge are awful or acting against the populous across the globe. Post WW2 agreements have been ripped up and there are clear lines of a 2 way split East Vs West. After Brexit, Covid and now Russia has invaded Ukraine with China's blessing the games up. Things could very well get a lot lot worse. This time, it's not simple. There are issues on multiple fronts which all effect the world and local economies. Global warming is coming home to roost, striking workers, anger and potentially no heating come winter.

Re: Bungie Dials Back Communication Due to Threats on Employees

themcnoisy

In my work, Ive had people threatening me. At the end of the day the 'team' shouldn't be fronting Twitter or social media, pass it to a PR company. Especially as Destiny is going to garner backlash everytime it updates - it's expensive and has microtransactions. Who buys them? Kids and Karen's. Bad news both sets.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Fans in Love with New Tomica Inspired Scape

themcnoisy

@The_Pixel_King If Polyphony decide to build a hot wheels or similar dlc, you will be waiting until 2030. The scapes mode is fantastic, I spent an age designing a few cars and snapping them in GT Sport. It's more fleshed out in 7. Just a pity the game came out kind of unfinished and the graphics look a bit last gen sometimes.

Re: Sony to Take Action as PS5, PS4 Owners Play Less Than Anticipated

themcnoisy

@Grimwood Gamepass has closer to 300 games and mostly a lot of solid games. Unlike PS Now which had a lot of filler. Listen Grim, I'm not for 1 minute saying Xbox are that much different to Sony. It's just that until recently with the new ps plus tiers, Gamepass was a better value proposition. And there are more first party games than we give MS credit for.

But for me playing Playstation for 6-7 years it's actually been nice seeing all the Xbox games. So with the lack of games and tiny SSD, ridiculous stick drift and pivot to games as a service I'm more inclined to play on Xbox this gen. As I mentioned Ive bought a years Gamepass ultimate, gave £10 to charity, Bought Rogue Legacy 2 and a couple of throw away games to pad out my library and all it cost (my wife for my bday) was 3 months Gamepass, due to Microsoft rewards. It's like a pseudo achievement score but you can get vouchers from it. With the cost of living crisis, it pays for itself then some. And if you game similarly to me, having both systems, then it's an easy decision to main on the Xbox. It's quieter, looks better and gives you money.

Re: Sony to Take Action as PS5, PS4 Owners Play Less Than Anticipated

themcnoisy

Promote soulless games as a service free to play littered with microtransactions. Charge £70 for your own games and include microtransactions. Design a console with tiny storage.

Great if you are a casual gamer who plays FIFA and Cod. Terrible if you play loads of games. Ive Been spending 95% of my time on Xbox due to Gamepass and MS rewards, just bought Rogue Legacy 2 and paid nothing but my own time.

Microsoft are guilt of adding microtransactions to their games, arguably worse than Sony. But Gamepass and MS rewards mitigates that somewhat.

Re: Matchpoint: Tennis Championships (PS5) - Unforced Errors Spoil Solid Gameplay

themcnoisy

The game isn't that bad. Once you get your head round the cursor it's pretty fun.

The career mode is lacklustre but at least it has one. No doubles mode is a terrible omission.

Also the progression early doors should be a tad quicker. It's so slow. That said I won a tournament with my player having the lowest stats ROFL.

@get2sammyb Anna Kournikova smash court tennis is the GOAT.

Re: PSA: PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Removed from Service Aren't Yours to Keep Forever

themcnoisy

@CapGod I agree that subscriptions will come home to roost. Ive Already noticed a degradation, AAA is arguably better than ever but those mid tier games are slowly being replaced by garbage, let's be honest.

However I had a great time when I decided to give ps now a whirl and have played a ridiculous amount of games on Gamepass. So in the short term I'm all good and if the rubbish keeps building. We have the prior 40 years of games to enjoy.

Re: Gallery: Spot the Difference in The Last of Us: Part I PS5 Screenshots

themcnoisy

@UltimateOtaku91 'Honestly don't get the hate whilst skyrim has released on the last three console generations and with 16 versions with worse upgrades and at full price yet no one bat's an eyelid.'

This has got to be a trolling. Even Bethesda themselves joked about it at E3 a few years back prior to the Microsoft buyout.

The reality is none of us were asking for TLOU part one remake. But they made it anyway. I will probably play it a few years from now for the nostalgia but for me, Sony have always been the bastions of moving on and away from franchises, trying something new. I don't want them to become Nintendo esque with the same regurgitated franchises regardless of how much I love the first game.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Patch 1.15 Available Now, Adds More Cars and Events

themcnoisy

@lolwhatno yes and no. When GT7 released playing through the menu book you earn 70 cars or so and imo was fine.

However once that was dusted earning big credits wasnt worth the hassle. Without paying money the better cars were out of reach it's a lot better now with the additional circuit experience dosh an god improved money for the longer cafe cups.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Patch 1.15 Available Now, Adds More Cars and Events

themcnoisy

Gran Turismo 7 is weird.

Amazing tracks like Monza and Interlagos have 1 main race. Were as loads of the Japanese tracks have 6/7. Daytonas oval is woefully underused as well with truck racing and some other low level pp rubbish? It's the Daytona oval, one of the big 3 world races. I don't understand why the real world tracks are underutilized.

Re: Sonic Origins Spins to PS5, PS4 in June with Multiple Pricey Editions

themcnoisy

@Eldritch that's 7.5million life time sales. It was closer to 1.5 million at the time. As the biggest game on the platform.

Anyhow the point Im making is a lot of people attempt to defend idiotic pricing strategies or overly inflated prices today. Sega could easily sell this compilation for £25 and make a tidy profit. It's irrelevant what we paid before, as gaming is now a bigger industry. PCs used to cost £5000, that's not going to stop a savvy customer querying why a new laptop is £700 or look for a better deal. To summarise I personally don't like the 'we used to pay' argument as it has so many variables and reduces quite a complicated gaming supply and demand history of physical games against an easily accessible digital storefront. Easier to work out how much this is costing them today (maybe half a million tops) and how much they will make. £40 is way over the top.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Gran Turismo 7?

themcnoisy

8 / 10

POSITIVES
Great gameplay
Cool progression
Loads of modes
Great looking cars
Amazing customisation
Wet racing
Tracks are brilliant
Scrapes are ultra realistic

NEGATIVES
Foliage doesn't move
Some rubbish off track graphics
Always online
Nerfed monetary rewards
Upgrades locked behind a lottery
Needs another dirt track (only 2 ATM)

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Review Bombed After Challenging Week

themcnoisy

Bit silly all of this. When FIFA is basically a baby lottery machine and every fighting game asks for additional money for fighters.

GT7 is innocent. Im Not happy that it asks you to boost your in game money and I don't think it should be in a £70 game at all. But it's honestly not worth getting fired up about. The games fun and enjoyable. Ive Got 80+ cars in my garage and have played for maybe 30 hours.

Re: PS Now Subscribers Score Four New PS4 Games in March 2022

themcnoisy

@DualWielding weirdly I noticed something with Gamepass. I was looking to start Skyrim and the version on Gamepass isn't the most recent one.

Also a lot of the first party games encourage additional purchases.

I love Gamepass. But it's not like every brilliant game comes to it and the ones that do need you to pony up for the full experience. After playing miles Morales and ghost of Tsushima everything on Gamepass is worse. So I don't mind paying for best in class experiences.

Fingers crossed when the big single player games come round Xbox can properly compete with Sony. Forza 5 and Ori are great though.

Re: Get a Horizon Forbidden West Outfit in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut

themcnoisy

@WallyWest love the way you quoted me, and I never said it. That's illegal probably ROFL. But yeah probably. Botw is just one of many attempts at open world since Elite in 1984, Maybe it came at a bad time for me after playing a bunch of openworld games around the same time (including HZD). And it is the kind of genre I can only play a few times a year. My favourite openworld games are actually Yakuza zero, Frontier Elite 2, Burnout Paradise, HZD and MGS 5. They all have their failings as a genre it tries to be good at all things and rarely masters anythings. With those 5 they all master something - 80s aesthetic, Space trading, Street racing, Hunting and smoking cigars to pass time.

@BoldandBrash GoT is subjectively great, graphics great, music great, story great, characters great, usability options great. It's brilliant. Maybe it's because Im playing on hard but it doesn't seem like a breeze to me. The game does have some weak points, the various side quests mostly amount to - go here - beat everyone up - collect some flags - the end. Totally agree that does grind. Not much for the old grey matter to work out. I wouldn't say it on rails - but it is a checklist of things to do. And Im cool with that when it's wrapped around a story this good.

However if you are saying that you weren't taking in the world, then that's on you. It's gorgeous. Im constantly taking in views in bewilderment on how it looks so good. As the PS5 has the screen capture ability it's a game in its own right. Finding the best shot.

With all that said I would still rate Botw as recommended, I was disappointed playing it post hype period - but offered enough new stuff and was massively playable and I can understand why other people would like it. GoT being snubbed by Eurogamer is ridiculous imo, especially when it offers so many fantastic story beats with graphics this realistic.

Re: Soapbox: Sony Is Making More Live Service Games for PS5, PS4, And I'm Excited

themcnoisy

I enjoy live services games, there's a place for good multiplayer games. The minute I am asked for Battle Passes or microtransaction money I will do what content I can for free and gradually move away to something else. Usually a single player game or 5.

I think the missing point is my favourite service games are all single player / multiplayer hybrids. Like the older Call of Dutys, Burnout paradise, Street Fighter 4, Forza Horizon, Tetris Effect etc.

The problems happen when you the get Street Fighter 5 with no real single player. I need the SP to git gud. And then can have the odd game of multiplayer as a side to the main course.

I feel many younger gamers just want the multiplayer.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

themcnoisy

@Jay429 Miles Morales is better than Forza or Halo and Im currently 2 weeks into Forza and on the fifth mission of halo (I think been running the open world stuff mostly and rescuing marines). Miles Morales blew my mind, the story, animations and skyline are ridiculously good quality. Forza is great but the human animations are poor and it becomes very samey after a while, best open world racer? I would say so, the amount of cars is frightening, it's looks fabulous and the gameplay wicked but it not miles Morales which is a top top game. I would give Forza a 9 and MM a 9.5.

Halo infinite is overrated, as a fan of the original Xbox and 360 series up to Reach Halo I have no idea why the internet is buzzing off it. The gameplay is tight and the grapple is boss. But where as you had an overarching war in the passed games and a story progression you could believe in. Now you have 1 marine guarding a fob whilst groups of banished wander around which could easily overpower him but never do. It's a solid game but the story, open world and characters are contrived. Compared to MM and his story, open world and relationships. It's not a fair comparison as Halo Loses on all 3 counts and easily. Halo sits at a 6.5 so far but Im open minded and have a long way to go, hopefully the biomes start opening up as fed up of looking at the same backdrops tbh.

Re: No Plans for Ubisoft+ on PS5, PS4 At This Time, Rainbow Six Extraction Full-Price on PlayStation

themcnoisy

My wife bought me an Xbox series X for my birthday.

The start up is slow
The menus are slow
The controller is cheap
Adverts absolutely everywhere
Gamepass seems cool

Right now PS5 seems like comparing a Yaris GR rally car to a 1 litre Yaris with free door mats. It wins hands down. Yes gamepass is great but it's being massively hyped and I'm unsure if it has the lasting appeal especially if it's at £15-£20 a month. I've just come off platting Miles Morales and it was quick at everything and an absolute blast. I doubt Xbox can compete right now. Here's hoping it improves when I finally get to play Flight simulator or Forza Horizon 5 later on after the million hour download.
