Re: PS5 Smash Hit Stellar Blade's Photo Mode Appears Imminent

@IamJT @PuppetMaster Full transparency, I attempted to think of another feature similar to photo mode, that doesn’t impede enjoyment in its absence, yet adds utility for those who like it, but I couldn’t.

Overall, my point being that features of this type should not be news-worthy on their own, because the game should have these quality of life things at launch (feature-complete), with updates reserved for new content and bug fixes, OR features like this should be prioritized and mentioned with release notes for content updates.

Obligatory “games should be feature complete at launch” post.

Not necessarily bug-free, but they should at least be feature-complete* playable as intended, and free of any show-stopping issues. *excluding future DLC (new levels, customization, stories that were never intended to be in the base game), games should launch with features like a photo mode.

What about bug fixes?

I finally decided to buy the game a few weeks ago, after hearing so much about it and wanting to play it with my friends, and in the middle of the very first match I got into after the tutorial, the entirety of my custom control settings (from the in-game rebinding options) reset out of nowhere after I died.

Unfortunately for me, I rely on the in-game options (when available) to invert the controls, since it’s an inconvenience and a challenge to open the control center, click on accessibility, open the settings screen, go to custom controller settings, turn it on, and then get back to the game in time for the match to start. Why the PS5 can’t have the controller remapping settings in control center when the PS4 has them in its quick menu is beyond me…

@NEStalgia How is Final Fantasy Online? The advertising is starting to get to my head, and I think I want to try it out, but I’ve only ever played the first two chapters of Final Fantasy 16, so I don’t know what to expect.

Ugh, I have so many games I want to play, and yet I’m tired of starting a game, really getting into it, putting it down, trying to play it again later, having no idea what I’m doing, getting frustrated or bored, and never playing it again until I eventually restart the whole thing, only for the cycle to begin again.

@MFTWrecks “…which is exactly why they are in FPS games: instead of pointing the gun at your own head, you’re pointing it at the other players in the arena. Now you’ll HAVE to buy the cosmetics!” -EA, probably

Furthermore, it makes me feel strange in general to realize that as players we’re generally at the mercy of publishers and developers with these kinds of things, and just how far things have gone in favor of profits and corporations. An example is how, at this point, there are people defending microtransactions as a concept in an article about overpriced cosmetics. Because, truthfully, a few years ago the discussion was still focused around the vile idea of microtransactions as a whole. People say that it’s time to move on, let go, and just enjoy the game, but all that does is reinforce the idea that the corporations behind game development can keep pushing the needle bit-by-bit, until we’re left with a shell of an experience, and even then it’ll still require 40GB updates, take up 100+GBs of space, have overly expensive in-game purchases, AND be completely unplayable once the servers shut down out of nowhere on a day that ends in Y.

@AverageGamer Sony are not the only one quick to shut down servers.

Yeah, it’s not exactly the same issue… it’s arguably worse, since the Switch can’t play 3DS or Wii U games, and the ports that have happened ended up being changed just enough for there to be a noticeable difference (and, likewise, making it worth playing the originals over the ports) in most cases.

@tabris95 I’m salty about it as well because one of my parents was led to pursue it as a sole source of income after losing a successful commission-based career and floundering in a customer service position at a marketing company during the US recession in the late 2000s, to the extent that my parents nearly separated and that by the time I was in high school my parents and I were homeless and staying in an emergency shelter during the first half of one school year. Luckily, we’re doing far better now, even considering the recent pandemic and looming drought.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage Will Feature Full Arabic Voiceover on PS5, PS4

AccessibleDaydream

Hmm, maybe this 🗣️ voiceover setting will help me learn Arabic vocabulary 📝 that would be useful in my study of the Quran. 📖

It also benefits me that I’ve wanted to play Assassins Creed 🥷 ever since III Remastered on the Wii U, but for whatever reason I’ve never actually done so. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Has there been any news on the 👩🏻‍🦯 accessibility ♿️ options in this upcoming game? 🎮
