@Rob_230 I'd forgotten about Shuhei being in charge of indies, although how much that bleeds over into the red-tape surrounding the psn I don't know. Your right that alot of this news does get blown out of proportion, it just seems to always be coming from things Sony have done and I am curious if its just because they are currently on top. Either way there is a pattern of massive success giving way to disaster ie Wii to wii-u, ps2-ps3(initially) 360-xbox one and whilst I'm not saying playstation is going to go that way again, it can happen.
You can clearly see how playstation is being run by businessmen not gamers, remember Shaun layden and Shuhei, they reversed the playstations downward spiral by putting games first not profit. Its also noticeable the xbox one reveal disaster was under the misplaced guidance of business execs and only turned it around when Phil Spencer, a clear gamer, took over. Now playstation is going strong, you can't deny it, but every week there seems to be a new PR disaster that needs dealing with and if things continue as is, eventually xbox will be a serious consideration for even the most dedicated playstation fan
@Reeneman Yeah I'm not expecting anything ground breaking, it just needs to have fun gameplay or a worthwhile sense of progression, something more than mindless button pressing. That's why returnal was so addictive for me, I would get a useful upgrade at random then work towards improving it further and when I got into a flow state where I'm reacting without thinking, dodge, shoot, dash, melee, grapple, shoot all in the space of a couple of seconds you feel almost one with the game.
@Reeneman It sounded like more of the same when reviews came out and I wasn't that into the 2016 remake, but now I'm done with returnal I need something to play so I'm going to give it a chance, hopefully it's got that extra something to keep me interested.
@Titntin I think my problem is I've been playing games for so long that it's all become a bit samey. Innovation has been replaced with safe bets and clones of other successful IP and when studio Japan was shut, it seemed like the old ways i grew up with were giving way to the more sterile corporate way of thinking. Here's hoping Ratchet and clank has that layer of magic that can grab me.
@Titntin Funnily enough I've got it ordered for tomorrow because I've heard a lot of good things said about it on the sacred symbols podcast, but I'm not 100% sure it's going to be for me.
Good news, the challenge of a game is what makes playing the game worth playing. Hand holding, intrusive hints and boring tutorials take all the agency away from the player to the point where you may as well watch a video instead.
So its clear you either like this decision or you're a racist. No wonder no one takes accusations of racism seriously anymore, the word is a scattergun term that basically means having an opinion, that whilst doesn't fit with the dictionary definition of the term racism, is still racist, because there is never a middle ground full of nuances or perspective or opinion. Why even have a comment section?
@GhostInAJar I play plenty but if a game I was on the fence about is reviewing as I expected, why would I change my mind? To be clear I'd rather play a competent 6/10 game that does something new and different than a 10/10 game that does everything I've already seen perfectly.
Meh, only watched bits so I might of missed something new, but from what I saw, it looks like the first game but with better graphics. I'll pass cheers.
Everytime I read or hear the phrase wax lyrical I picture a news reporter reading a story about the death of a royal and then doing that wavy gangsta hand flick thing and shouting mad respect at the end of their report.
@ViolentEntity That is absolutely your choice and you are not wrong for doing that, but until enough people do the same, the prices are going up unfortunately.
@Octane I didn't say there was a reason to raise prices, im saying that they will as long as people pay it. Inflation causes the price of everything to rise its only games that haven't from my knowledge, but if the prices don't follow inflation the 60 dollars developer's charge now won't buy them as much as the 60 dollars five, ten, twenty years ago did.
@Octane mtx, season passes and special editions are all optional extras though, I've never paid for a season pass or special/limited edition in the 20 odd years its been an option. Just to be clear, I'm not saying im happy about games being more expensive, but why wouldn't they when everything else has increased in price. Every single company strives to make more profit and all the big companies do, no one criticises Apple or Microsoft or cocoa cola or Mercedes for making more profit whilst charging more for their products, certainly not in the way they critisice games companies.
@KippDynamite
Yeah Bobby whats his name from Activision is richer than rich and it would be daft to justify it, but the only way to stop it would be enough people voting with their wallets. However If people stopped paying 70 they would restructure their business model, make the money else where and pay him the sort of bonuses he is getting now anyway.
I'm just gonna say it, if you can't afford ten dollar/pound increase, then AAA gaming isn't for you. I would love to go snowboarding but guess what, I can't afford it. Game prices, for some reason, have not raised with the rate of inflation (unlike everything else I can think of) for 30 years. I hate to say it but gamers really are entitled, especially when you factor in increased development costs, and now crunch is such a dirty concept, development times will increase which will increase costs even more. As much as I dislike micro/macro transactions they atleast let the developers off set some of the cost. I know many a company are making millions and millions of profit and could afford to charge 60, but the only way they'll do that is if enough people stop buying at 70, and that's just not going to happen unfortunately.
I got this game a while back and enjoyed it for a while, but I'm not sure I'm playing it right. Spend most of my time trying to winch myself out of the mud and not much else and have since lost interest.
@HUMPERDOO
First of all, kudos for both the Alan Partridge top gear quote and the preacher avatar, secondly, I couldn't agree more with your take on the uncharted series.
And yet it's my least favourite, bloated and drawn out, with only one major action sequence which was spoilt at e3 and nothing that hadn't been seen in the previous 3 games. Oh and a last boss that was a quick time event in the style of the last boss from The order 1886, complete damp squib. Even lost legacy was far more enjoyable and that was a much smaller budget release. Multiplayer was great though.
Pain was worth a few hours of play, the first stage anyway. I also remember the first flat-out on ps 2 where you could launch the driver. Both were made infinitely more enjoyable by the ragdoll. I remember minority report to, throwing guys through windows and off catwalks was very satisfying. Hopefully this game can replicate that kind of fun
I think gyro aiming is the future for fine tune aiming, I can't remember how many time I've been trying to line up a shot by flicking the stick the smallest amount possible, only for the crosshair to flick way past the target. It is as close as we will get to full mouse support on console.
@a1904 Your not wrong, but these people are the hard-core fans, the ones that spend the money outside of the yearly Fifa and COD releases. There's no harm in looking after the loyal fanatics and with the first game being profitable, is there much to loose?
I'm so glad I paid 450 quid for a console made by a company that said they believed in generation's, only to make a bunch of cross gen games like miles morales and horizon (and maybe even the new god of war) and remakes of old gen games like demon souls and last of us. Instead of new exciting experiences that need a ps5 to run on for reasons other than slightly better graphics.
@R1spam That's all we can do, the results will dictate the business model, im sure Sony have done their market research and whilst I'm not particularly liking their public image at the moment, no company sets out to fail. Time will tell.
@R1spam A game is worth what ever people are willing to pay for it, whilst putting the price up to 70 isn't good, people are still going to pay it, that's called capitalism. Also your speaking like it's just Sony who are charging more for games, im pretty sure if Microsoft haven't already, they will do the same.
When I spend 70 pounds on a game, it has value, it another motivation for me to invest my time on it and play it through to completion beyond actual enjoyment of the game. With researching reviews and previews, I don't buy bad games, I'm only buying games I want to play, games that have an appeal to me, games I know are worth the price.
With game pass its a scatter gun approach of games I'm not interested in, would never play, have little to no value and are not up to the quality of the ps plus offerings.
Admittedly there are games worth playing on Gamepass, but these tend to be the first party exclusives, but if i was that interested in playing them I would of chose xbox over playstation long before Gamepass was a thing. My son has an xbox series s with gamepass and he constantly asks me if he can play ghost of tsushima, I guess the old saying of quality over quantity has some merit. I would rather play god of war for a one off payment of £60 than a monthly subscription for a service of games which I'm just not that interested in.
@PossibLeigh I did play prey, but I just couldn't get into it, probably played 2/3 of it. I think it was the enemy design that put me off, they just seemed a bit bland in both combat and appearance, I couldn't even describe them. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it just didn't seem to grab me.
Personally it's not a big deal, the only games from Bethesda that I'm glad I played were fallout 3 and dishonoured 1 and 2. I think these were made just before Bethesda became all about the business. Now I see them as no different from EA or Activision. With the shake up of Japan studios and other game studios in general playing safe, I feel like games are just going to become more derivative of whatever is popular and making big money at the time and even under Microsoft, I can't see Bethesda being any different when it comes to the content they'll release.
It's really good to hear such a upbeat story centred around gaming, makes a change from political controversy, shady business tatics and other seemingly standard occurrences in the gaming world. I think the vast majority can agree that Ghost of tsushima has been nothing but a positive on the world of gaming and the world itself.
We will release it when it's ready, probably next year, so despite us saying sometime this year which covers not only this exact moment but the previous month, stop asking because we have been very clear about its release the whole time and not said something that most people didn't believe when we initially said it. But if you did believe us when we said it, your now wrong for asking for more information, even though we are now in a time covered by our initial announcement. You've gotta love the clear messaging!

@Henlak- Your right and when you can get through, sony tend to be pretty good. Thing is, you have to go at least a couple of days without a dualsense unless you fork out for another and they aren't cheap
I'm thinking the reason they haven't patched in 60fps is because a complete remake is coming eventually. At a guess, a lot of the work done on demon souls remake could be used on a new version of bloodborne and with sony owning the IP they would only have to share the profit with bluepoint not from software.
I've not had drift issues but my R2 trigger did become super sensitive and eventually broke completely, on researching it, it seems a lot of people have had this issue. I tried calling sony supoort only to be told there would be a 40 minute wait due to being busy, I had to open my pad up and replace a snapped spring with one I took out of an old dualshock 4 and whilst still not fully fixed, I can atleast use the dualsense again.
The worst thing about this whole situation is the number of people saying its the price you pay for being an early adopter. That is total BS! Sony knows how the dualsense triggers will be used and the cheap parts are not up to the task, poor build quality is not unforeseeable or an unavoidable issue.
