Sony really needs to consider remaking the old Killzone games or starting the franchise anew. The same could be said for SOCOM, Resistance, and MAG. I’m a die hard MAG fan and that game was way better than people thought. So much potential for awesome shooters on the console. It’s a shame they just put all their cards into CoD which just keeps getting worse ever since Modern Warfare 2018.
Might dive into Peaky Blinders VR again for a couple chapters. Picked it up last night and being a fan of the show I’m really glad I did. It’s not the prettiest VR game but it captures what makes that show so gritty and captivating. Other than that, I’ll mainly be swapping between finishing up the Burning Shores DLC and getting more into Ghostwire: Tokyo.
@Nightcrawler71 like you, I never originally completed Forbidden West after starting, but in the last month I’ve managed to complete the main story and will probably be finishing up the DLC soon. The game takes some time to get going but it’s fantastic once it does and definitely is a huge improvement over the first game. After the DLC I’m going for that shiny platinum trophy! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I just upgraded to extra last night because it had so many games I’ve been wanting to play but never had the time, and some games are tough to find on a sale. Buying all of them separately would cost a good amount compared to the sub. Ghost wire Tokyo, FF7 Remake on ps5, Humanity (vr2), dmc5, returnal, GTA5 (been putting it off too long), judgment, lost judgment, NieR replicant, and Gotham knights are just some of the games I’ll be looking to complete this year from extra. Not a bad group of games for the price. I own RE2 as well, so this month is kinda meh, but overall happy with the value Extra has.
Just finished Immortals of Aveum last night. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of high fantasy, FPS, single player story driven games. Beat it on normal mode in 13 hours or so, and despite some difficulty spikes and weird puzzles it felt pretty fun to play most of the time. The gameplay feels like Doom or Wolfenstein way more than I expected. Was expecting more CoD vibes as the creative director came from making CoD games. The lore is deep as it is written by a Morrowind/Oblivion writer.
The rest of the weekend I’ll be switching between the absolutely gorgeous Burning Shores and ever-depressing world of Cyberpunk 2077 - about 13 hours into the main story here. Happy gaming!
@Northern_munkey I’m pretty close to finishing immortals and I’ve enjoyed it as well despite some weird difficulty spikes on normal mode. The puzzles kinda suck too imo
@Mostik nice! I love my vr2 admittedly don’t play it as much as I thought I would but still glad I have it especially for Horzion and Beat Saber. Still need to track down a physical copy of galaxy’s edge
@trymer89 it’s fantastic! I beat the main story a few weeks ago, but can’t put it down. Thankfully it’s got DLC! Just started that definitely recommend it so far
@MrGilly69 blows me away as well. I found it to be my least favorite game I’ve ever played from Naughty Dog. Gave it a fair shake but couldn’t finish it.
After reading this article I definitely need to play some of these. Dead Space was experienced back in the day during wisdom tooth removal recovery, so I’m curious how the remake would play in nowadays in a more aware state. RE4 seems to be a must play especially for someone who never experienced the original.
I’ve heard of it but have never seen gameplay. I have been craving some Diablo for awhile, but just haven’t re-downloaded it. Maybe I’ll give this a try instead!
So happy this is doing so well. RE7 was my first full play-through of a Resident Evil game, and I loved it. RE2 Remake exceeded my expectations. Now, I am hungry for even more survival horror. I would not mind at all if they remade the classic games like they did with RE2, while simultaneously continuing the FPS perspective and story they started with RE7.
I picked Leon first because I heard he had access to a shotgun, and that his campaign was slightly easier than Claire's. Figured it made sense to do the harder play-through second.
This makes sense. The founder of Skybound is Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead. I can see why he doesn’t want this beloved franchise to end on such a poor note.
Most likely no games for me this weekend. Finals start on Monday and I really should be studying right now instead of typing this. Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys a full weekend of gaming. I plan on binging The Evil Within on Wednesday after my last final and hopefully finishing it before the release of SAO: Fatal Bullet.
@Lurker Thanks for further clarifying. I won't completely write off this game because of the save system. It is just a thing I see some games doing that annoy me. I wish developers could just find more creative and meaningful ways besides potentially wasting people's time, but if it's not as bad as I am thinking it is then that's a plus! The Souls series has mastered the art of meaningful choices and meaningful save points by way of the bonfire system.
I’m definitely on the fence about this one. I was really looking forward to it a couple years ago when I first heard about it, but the bugs, loading screens, and hyper-realism are kind of turning me off. One of my favorite games of all time is Skyrim. My favorite book genre is fantasy. So, lack of magic in this game is disappointing to me. I am also turned off by the lack of saving at any point. I am all for making gameplay impactful and important, but it’s 2018 and most people are super busy and have limited gaming time. I don’t mind putting 120 hours into a great RPG, but it irks me when I have to replay 3 hours of gameplay because the save system is so unforgiving. There should be more creative ways to encourage impactful choices and gameplay. Other than that, this seems like a great game to stream so I might just pick it up for that, and enjoy it for what it is.
Shadow of War is severely underrated and is extremely epic, @bonbonetti. You must’ve not surveyed the large scale battles on the back of a fire breathing Drake shortly after terrorizing 15 to 20 uruks on the back of a tree-sized Olog, before branding the surrounding archers to work in your favor. I can’t give this game enough praise. The micro transactions were blown out of proportion. They were so minuscule and didn’t make an impact on the game hardly at all. The game is an easy 9/10 and is among the best open world action games of the year. Some of the most fun I’ve had in a video game in a long time.
Wow, 2018 is turning out to be quite the year for games and it's not even February yet! Having only played through the first boss in the HD PS3 remaster. I'm looking forward to this immensely!
SOA: Fatal Bullet is a day one for me. Don’t know why but I’m really eager to play it and I’ve never played and SOA game before. Will definitely get Shadow of the Colossus down the road.
Some realistic games I’d like to see for PS4: Knack 2, Inside, Oxenfree, Crypt of the Necrodancer, The Banner Saga, The Witness, Gravity Rush Remastered, and Firewatch.
