@Golem25 I have no doubt there is toxic positivity infesting the team; add to that a desire to take all the DEI funding you can and it’s a recipe for creating another game trying to spread (and I can’t stand this term) “the message.” When you have people make a game who have swallowed the belief that politics belongs in everything, you get a game like this. Look around the whole industry and it’s more prevalent than you would think. They think Gen Z cares about this messaging, but I work with them and they don’t even see it.
Never heard of it but if it is anything like some of the other excellent indies to come out and surprise people (Doki Doki) then we are in for a treat.
Loved the first. Was terrible at it, but excited for round 2. Glad to see there are devs out there capable of making great games on a budget that is easy to recoup.
I am still working on Astrobot. The birth of my 3rd slowed down my gaming a bit hahha.
Otherwise I have really been enjoying Black Myth Wukong, just started Chapter 3. I'll also be touching on Vampire Survivors for a few rounds here and there, and hopefully returning to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC at some point.
Well right now my weekend is me busy taking car of my newborn (number 3)! 3am birth means I am in the hospital this weekend, so if anything my Switch will get some long needed use.
Upon return though it's all Astrobot, Wukong, and Vampire Survivors.
I’ll be finishing Strangers of Paradise FF Origin. Plot is meh at best but neat to be set in the FF1 world. But it’s a Team Ninja game so I’m having a blast.
I’ll also work on Rise of the Ronin, but mostly I’ll be playing Black Myth Wukong. I’m a chapter deep and it’s definitely a boss rush game. I love it. Not difficult, but not easy, and I am having a blast with each enemy.
@get2sammyb Agreed. Baseball has long been a love of mine, and the games I only got into this year. Fantastic fun, and a lot more skilled involved than people would think. I wish more people gave it a shot. Also, an easy platinum!
@get2sammyb Agreed. MLB was fantastic for me as a newer fan of those games. I've been long time love of baseball as a sport, and honestly the game requires wayyy more skill than one would think. Great opportunity for others to try it out!
@Kraven I’m sorry for your loss. Those are never easy times. There are always twinges of regret that creep in during those times, but when we lose someone they knew we loved them and that we would miss them. My prayers for you all during this.
I don't know how anyone could not be playing games on their PS5 right now. My backlog and Premium are enough to keep me busy. I am constantly tackling stuff in the catalogue, or smaller games like CYGNI. I also recognize I love all genres and many do not, so that may be true too.
Finished FF7 Rebirth. Incredible and moving. But bloated.
Platinum for Nobody Wants to Die. Up there for my favorite games this year.
Playing through: Prodeus- awesome boomer shooter Super Perils of Baking - much harder than I thought. Rise of the Ronin- will chip away here and there.
Mostly though I want to work more on Shadow of the Erdtree. It’s a nice DLC and I love Souls games but I think I’d like a new experience instead of more of the same.
The demo sold me. Before that I had decided it wasn’t for me. As soon as I wrap up a game or two I’m buying it at full price so I can put my money where my mouth is in supporting new ideas, even if I don’t play it right away.
@mac_da_man I feel the same way about First Descendant. It does nothing that Warframe didn’t already do, but it’s like a good popcorn flick. I can game, podcast listen, and let my monkey brain enjoy the simplicity of it all.
Went back to Rebirth. It was just too much and too long for my taste, but now I’ve been away I’m ready to finish up the last three chapters.
Otherwise it is the usual: More wandering in Rise of the Ronin, seasons in MLB the Show 24, and Zenless Zen Zero with maybe some First Descendant in there.
I love ZZZ but Descendant is easily more my style of sci fi space shooter.ZZZ is definitely a great mix of action and Persona too.
Overall lots to play! Oh and Shadow of the Erdtree too!!
@KingPev loved SteelRising. It’s not FromSoft, but it didn’t have to be. Cool idea, fun setting, and before the patch, very broken grenades (you could wipe the floor with every boss if you had at least 4-5). Enjoy and if you’re planning on just one playthrough see which ending you may want to go towards!
I’ve dipped into Zenless Zen Zero. I put about 50 hours into Genshin before deciding I couldn’t keep up. I want this to be the one I keep up with but I doubt it.
I’ll also mix in my Diamon Dynasty Season in The Show 24. Those homers aren’t going to hit themselves.
Lastly Rise of the Ronin is there too, and I need to finish Rebirth. Got to 12 and started to complete the checklist of side stuff and got burned out. 55 hours in I need to just finish the main story.
@colonelkilgore I highly recommend RedMamba on YouTube. I just started MLB24 this year and struggled to hit. After watching some of his stuff I am hitting 3-4 HRs per game and am considering bumping up the difficulty to All Star from Vet.
Out of town for the week so I’ve been using the Portal when I can. Tonight hope to do more Rise of the Ronin, maybe try out some Erdtree 800 miles away to see how much lag does or does not exist in the Lands Between!
I have the PS4 version of ER downloaded and making progress to Lucaria before diving into Erdtree, and I downloaded my completed PS5 version so I can dive straight into Erdtree. So I hope to experience it with both characters.
Other than that more Rise of the Ronin and continuing my Diamond Dynasty Season 2 in The Show 24.
I want to finish Rebirth but after 60 hours and being on Chapter 11, I’m tired boss. Too much responsibility and too much to play to want to keep going even though I love it. So I’ll come back at some point.
I’ve also got to finish a few other games if I feel up to it.
May need to redownload FC24 with Euro being played.
Most likely back into FF7 Rebirth to finally wrap it up. Rise of the Ronin as well.
Oddly MLB The Show has its hooks in me. I’m getting older and baseball has come back into my life this year. Call it a mid life crisis or nostalgia lol
@Darude84 sorry for the delay! What I remember for the ones I needed (once I looked them up) was doing the run backwards from the end of biome 2 so I could access the room faster. Depends on what you need but most of the ciphers have a pattern that once you know what room it is supposed to be in and the rooms that may lead to that you can quickly sprint through then die.
@Darude84 I loved the platinum hunt. One or two ciphers were a bit grindy, but as you said it never got old and I got so good at recognizing what rooms had spawned I knew within a minute whether to restart that biome.
Having snagged the Stellar Blade Platinum, i am now working in the Animal Well Platinum too. Finished the game technically, but I know that the eggs and other things mean there is much more to do.
Dove back into Rebirth. Left off on Chapter 11, going to finally see it through so I have more time for Rise of the Ronin. That should cover the weekend!
Next week I’m out of town a few days, right when V Rising comes out, so I’ll have that to return too!
I’d love to see a Solid Snake performance but Kojima and Konami would have to make amends for that movie to reach its potential. Despite what others say about Kojima, the man has his status for a reason and continues to make some of the best games out there. DS was brilliant if you played it.
Animal Well also has its hooks in me right now. So I’ll cycle between that and Rise of the Ronin, which I’m really enjoying. The gameplay is what makes it. Not as strong as Nioh or Wo Long, but more relaxed in it’s opening hours.
As an educator, there is a direct correlation between this and what I see in class. People just do not want to engage in critical thinking or really be forced to problem solve.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548
Playing the excellent space marine 2. What a throwback to the PS3 Xbox charm of the bro shooter. It’s Gears of War all over again.
Also workin on Black Myth Wukong.
If time allows I’d like to revisit Rise of the Ronin or start Blacklight.
Re: Twee Free PS5 Gacha Infinity Nikki Looks Cute as a Button
I hate how much this game has grown on me with every trailer. I went from hard pass to thinking this might be a nice relaxing cozy winter game.

Platinum time for Astrobot.
Then between caring for the newborn I’ll aim for more Vampire Survivors and finally get back to Wukong.
Time allowing: Start Space Marine 2

It's in the backlog so maybe when I get some breathing room in the gaming schedule I'll squeeze the game in for a week. I loved the first.

Nobody Wants to Die is fantastic if you want a simple puzzle adventure narrative. I loved it so much I snagged the platinum for it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 543
This weekend is more Shadow of the Erdtree, with Strangers of Paradise and Rise of the Ronin sprinkled in.
Although I’m tempted to put all 3 Soulslike games on hold and pick up Black Myth Wukong!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 542
Working on Rise of The Ronin and Strangers of Paradise. Might dive into an FPS like Prodeus when I need a break.
I’m just biding my time until Black Myth Wukong.
Honestly though, I’ve got a weird itch to play a Mario game, so may go see what my stinky switch has for me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 541
@mac_da_man agreed. Nobody Wants to Die surprised me. It’s a great narrative experience.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 541
Working on the awesome CYGNI All Guns Blazing. The replayability is awesome!
Other than that Stranger of Paradise and Rise of the Ronin. I’m in a Soulslike mood.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 540
Working on several items:
Finished FF7 Rebirth. Incredible and moving. But bloated.
Platinum for Nobody Wants to Die. Up there for my favorite games this year.

Prodeus- awesome boomer shooter
Super Perils of Baking - much harder than I thought.
Rise of the Ronin- will chip away here and there.

Highly recommend Ender Lillies. Great month for those who have not played it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 539
Back into Shadow of the Erdtree, and wrapping up Nobody Wants to Die as well. What a fantastic narrative it has been!!
Otherwise some MLB The Show Diamond Dynasty and maybe diving back into Rise of the Ronin.
Enjoy the weekend everyone!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 538
@Kraven does it have trophies because you’ve just sold me on checking it out!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 538
Nobody Wants to Die is my top priority. I love the atmosphere and that I can enjoy the narrative while puzzle solving.
Then some season work in MLB the Show.
Lastly, finishing FF7 Rebirth and working on Rise of the Ronin again.
Edit: forgot to add in Shadow of Erdtree! Slowly grinding away each boss!

Really enjoying this game. Took a chance on it before reviews came out and am not disappointed.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for July 2024?
This is a weird month as I have Remnant 2 and Crisis Core and those are the biggest ones for me.

A reasonable price (same on Steam if I can recall), and from what I hear, an incredible game. Cannot wait!
