£6.49 for Rory is a snip, so I already snipped. Inquisition GOTY is practically a giveaway price at £12.99 and I highly recommend it.
Also worth noting is Dirt Rally at £29.49, I'm only hovering over that one personally because it's a 40GB download and my 2TB HDD is already bursting at the seams.
I think the only impulse buy for me would be MLB The Show at £19.99, I've never, in 40 years of gaming, owned a Baseball game. But again it's the download size (38GB) rather than the price that's hard to swallow.
Already pre-ordered a while back. I get the same vibe about this as I did when Modern Warfare was announced, think it'll do the COD franchise the world of good.
It's also interesting to note that with 'hub-based' gameplay and side missions available from said hub, the game could eventually morph into another Destiny, with 2-16 player raids being added as DLC later on, though that's just wishful thinking on my part.
I pre-ordered based on the first showing then ignored most of the hype. At least that way it can't fail to meet my expectations unless it randomly crashes every 30 minutes.
I've had The Technomancer since Saturday, some great ideas but not so great execution. I get the impression that with a Bioware type budget it could have been a contender for the next big Sci-Fi RPG but as it is I'll continue to muddle through.
Star Ocean has been pre-ordered for months now, there's not a bad review on the planet that could put me off it. Sometimes you just KNOW, y'know?
Grand Kingdom for me this weekend (which gets deeper and deeper with every step I take), but I might get lucky and have The Technomancer drop through the post which will then take over and get some broadcasting, if only to annoy everyone else who hasn't received theirs yet
This is awesome, I now have zero reservations about gameplay. Previously I thought it would just be spending a lot of time watching my characters getting knocked over. At least with wait mode I won't be able to blame my aged reaction times anymore.
I'm not sure if this is an evolution of 'Create a Pro' or whether it's a standalone mode where I play as Alex Hunter, I guess we'll have to wait and see?
I'm looking forward to all the great .gifs that are sure to follow As a mostly single-player player I'm excited, will keep a close eye on it till launch.
It would be great if they could open up their E3 presentation with "Here's a list of things we WON'T be talking about today" so we can just sit back and enjoy the ride without sitting for hours waiting for something that isn't going to happen.
I've never seen Jake Gyllenhaal fall through a map. The movie will be 5 hours long (includes 3 hours of maintenance). Yves Guillemot has a short cameo role as Rioter #28, aka "Alex".
My guess is it failed certification, otherwise we'd have heard the 'gone gold' announcement round about this time. Failed cert. would be 2-4 weeks' delay, roughly? Just guessing though, given the timing.
I've always been a Star Ocean fan so this was a no-brainer pre-order for me way back when it first became available. Basically this and No Man's Sky should keep me going for the rest of 2016,
I've learned never to predict anything E3-related other than I won't be working the next day and will be frantically checking my financial status to cover gaming costs for the rest of the year. However, a little wishlist:
1. Have you seen my backlog? Please stop releasing great games for a bit. 2. See 1.
I'm not a MOBA player, but I enjoy FPS and I love character development so I've always been on the fence about Battleborn since it was first announced. Now that it has dropped below £30 in the UK, though, I decided to risk it, figured it was worth a punt. TheGameCollection are doing it for £27.95 if anyone else is having the same quandry, hope that helps.
@wittypixel Square Enix included it as part of the Final Fantasy VII PS4 port, the theme should appear in your download list just after you buy the game from the PSN store unless they've changed things since they launched it.
Mine is the Final Fantasy VII theme that includes special sound effects from the menu screens in the original. I'm loathe to change it for anything else even though I love The Witcher too!
I did have this on pre-order but then backed out, I wanted to see if it wasn't just a 'graphical remaster' because for me gameplay is a huge priority. But given the wealth of content and a pretty good storyline, and the £18.85 price tag for the Europa Edition on Amazon currently, I just pre-ordered again
10 years ago was almost my final year with PS2, I switched to 360 the year after and now I'm currently back on PS4, so I've had a chance to dabble in lots of different franchises.
2005 was all about Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, the following year I picked up Final Fantasy XII and the PS2 carried on alongside the 360 for another year or so. I remember being terribly confused about all the 'Vs' announcements coming from Square Enix so kinda glad they went away for a bit!
E3 2005 was pretty awesome for Microsoft, that was the year they announced Final Fantasy XI coming to 360 which caught millions by surprise, including me. If memory serves correctly it turned out to be one of the greatest E3's of all time what with all the generational changes (PS3, 360 and Wii announcements were all at fever pitch back then) and shiny new graphics on show.
I just looked at the incredible job they've done with the opening section of the game in the trailer and figured that if they can do that they can maintain the same high quality to all the other relevant parts of the game - summons, limit-breaks, materia development, chocobos, even squats and cross-dressing. Combat is just one tiny part of the whole, pretty sure they won't muck it up.
My only surprise was that they didn't mention PS2 on PS4, just snapped up Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy and FFVII from the PS4 store earlier. For me that's a 'big thing', thought it would get at least a couple of minutes on the stage including plans for future titles.
Still can't believe they threw Final Fantasy VII in with the £8.99 theme for nothing. Bargain! This is also my first theme in my 2 years of owning a PS4 so excuse my excitement
The whole PS2 on PS4 leaks/announcements just made what I thought was a brilliant 2015 into a ... brillianter 2015. Great year for gaming. 2016 will be a nightmare year for backlogs though. I think, though, that the FFVII remake will be still be a separate 'thing' even if an emulated PS2 version does appear beforehand.
I played it during the PS Now beta so not sure I'd pick it up again so soon. However as an 'experience' I'd recommend it as I consider it one of the greatest acting performances in a video game to date thanks to Ellen Page's sterling work.
Gameplay-wise it blew a bit hot and cold, flipping between Hollywood action sequences (which were excellent to watch) and slow sections where you started wishing even for a QTE to appear just to liven things up. Controlling Aiden felt awkward at first and took some time to get to grips with, but it wasn't as bad as in Heavy Rain where even walking somewhere took a little figuring out.
For me if it drops into the £14.99 or less range I'll snap it up.
I never had a PS3 so I'm just fine with remasters for my PS4. PSNow seems to be Sony's route for backwards compatibility (streaming) but looking at their rental model it's not that attractive an option for me.
Microsoft seem to be doing the same thing they did with the 360, just partial backwards compatibility, because of that I still have my 360 for when I feel like a bit of retro.
I don't judge a book by it's cover, but I'm spamming @EASportsFIFA with hints to get one of the #Lionesses on the cover too (Australia got one of the @Matildas on their FIFA16 cover along side two other male players) so if they've got room for 3 I'm hoping EA consider it.
@skullsniper Yeah, false alarm, USA server is working fine but getting lots of time outs now when trying to get into ESO EU servers, PSN seems ok though.
@Splat Comms are the immersion break for me as Area Chat usually defaults to on so I have to turn it off (people sneezing at 200db or having domestic disputes in my headset is an immersion breaker). Random jumping... don't see a lot of it, as for people trying to hit you it's quite common during battle as it's easy to mistake players for targets, kinda glad that friendly fire is off in PvE areas. If I'm not sure I'll usually watch a few YouTube gameplay videos, there are literally hundreds for them for PS4 now.
It hit me too, I was logged out from ESO due to inactivity (coffee break) around 1am and haven't been able to login again. Logged in just fine to PSN though. Based in Wales.
1. Consistent download speeds (faster the better) 2. The option to stream games from the cloud and automatically store saves there instead of downloading and installing after purchase. Stored saves would work with the downloaded/installed version if I did that later. 3. More competitive Day 1 launch prices for new games. 4. More 'Amazon' style Just For You section which currently seems totally random/irrelevant. 5 The option to opt-in to either email or app notifications which alert me to new content, sales or price changes pretty much instantly. 6. Steam's Refund Policy.
I've had my eye on Wander for a while, surprised Sony haven't pushed it more simply because... how many non-combat MMOs are on the PS4? To me, having played a Druid in World of Warcraft, Wander represents all the fun stuff (Tree Form, Flight Form, Elf Form, Aquatic Form) without having to kill a zillion Kobolds to get there.
Looking at some old beta YouTubes there are a few other systems in place but, being beta, I'm don't know how many of them will be in the final build. Looking forward to finding out on release though, I'll be buying
I thought the title was long enough but a quick Google brought up a game called 'Summertime High School' for short because the full title has 65 words. I've been watching DQ:H gameplay clips for PS4 over on YouTube, so highly stoked for launch. Can't believe in this day and age companies still have accidents like this, unless it's a crazy new marketing strategy.
I'm OK with it, preordered before I even knew about Warty, extra treasure maps and the 'this just isn't cricket' allowing races to join any faction extras. I am against preorder exclusive content in general though, and in this particular case I can see it leading from "I wanna play with my friend in the same faction" to "I wanna play with my friend who is level 160" later on to me getting hacked just because I have a Warty.
Still, at least I know the risks going in, so I'll be ok with it. Incidentally it was watching the TESO broadcasts during the PS4 beta that swung it for me, I was a bit undecided how TES would translate to MMO for a while beforehand.
I'm a fan so no need for me to see any Star Ocean, it's a done deal, same goes for Just Cause 3 and Dragon Quest: Whateveritis.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope's English dubbing was... I dunno, it's like they get these college kids together for a few days, overdose them on energy drinks then sample whatever they come out with. But you get used to it, then it becomes familiar, then it becomes so bad it's good. So I'm secretly hoping for more!
I still have DQVIII on the PS2 so something new in the franchise for PS4 would be most welcome to me. I'm sure Heroes will be enough to be getting on with in the meantime though.

Re: Latest EU PlayStation Store Sale Cuts Prices on a Crazy Amount of Japanese Games
I'd recommend Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle and Rogue Galaxy, though to be fair at these prices most of the games, if not all, are a steal anyway.

Pre-ordered a long time ago. Along with Star Ocean which will arrive 3 days later. Great month for getting some action RPG gaming done.

Many thanks Robert, I wouldn't have known. I dream one day of the PSN Store coming back online with the full Mass Effect Trilogy remastered on it.
